RESUMO

Construction of multifunctional photoelectrochemical energy devices is of great importance to energy saving. In this study, we have successfully prepared a mesoporous WO3 film on FTO glass via a facile dip-coating sol-gel method; the designed mesoporous WO3 film exhibited advantages including high transparency, good adhesion and high porosity. Also, multifunctional integrated energy storage and optical modulation ability are simultaneously achieved by the mesoporous WO3 film. Impressively, the mesoporous WO3 film exhibits a noticeable electrochromic energy storage performance with a large optical modulation up to 75.6% at 633 nm, accompanied by energy storage with a specific capacity of 75.3 mA h g-1. Furthermore, a full electrochromic energy storage window assembled with the mesoporous WO3 anode and PANI nanoparticle cathode is demonstrated with large optical modulation and good long-term stability. Our research provides a new route to realize the coincident utilization of optical-electrochemical energy.

RESUMO

Tailored sulfur cathode is vital for the development of a high performance lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery. A surface modification on the sulfur/carbon composite would be an efficient strategy to enhance the cycling stability. Herein, we report a nickel hydroxide-modified sulfur/conductive carbon black composite (Ni(OH)2@S/CCB) as the cathode material for the Li-S battery through the thermal treatment and chemical precipitation method. In this composite, the sublimed sulfur is stored in the CCB, followed by a surface modification of Ni(OH)2 nanoparticles with size of 1-2 nm. As a cathode for the Li-S battery, the as-prepared Ni(OH)2@S/CCB electrode exhibits better cycle stability and higher rate discharge capacity, compared with the bare S/CCB electrode. The improved performance is largely due to the introduction of Ni(OH)2 surface modification, which can effectively suppress the "shuttle effect" of polysulfides, resulting in enhanced cycling life and higher capacity.

RESUMO

A Fe2O3@NiO core/shell nanorod array on carbon cloth was prepared with the aid of hydrothermal synthesis combined with subsequent chemical bath deposition. The resultant array structure is composed of Fe2O3 nanorods as the core and interconnected ultrathin NiO nanoflakes as the shell. As an anode material for lithium-ion batteries, the heterostructured array electrode delivers a high discharge capacity of 1047.2 mA h g(-1) after 50 cycles at 200 mA g(-1), and 783.3 mA h g(-1) at a high current density of 2000 mA g(-1). The excellent electrochemical performance is attributed to the unique 3D core/shell nanorod array architecture and a rational combination of two electrochemical active materials. Our growth approach offers a simple and effective technique for the design and synthesis of a transition metal oxide hierarchical array that is promising for high-performance electrochemical energy storage.

RESUMO

A porous NiO/RGO hybrid film is prepared by the combination of electrophoretic deposition and chemical-bath deposition. The porous hybrid film exhibits a noticeable electrochromism with reversible color changes from transparent to dark brown, and shows high coloration efficiency (76 cm(2) C(-1)), fast switching speed (7.2 s and 6.7 s) and better cycling performance compared with the porous NiO thin film. The enhancement of electrochromic performances are attributed to the reinforcement of the electrochemical activity of the RGO sheets and the greater amount of open space in the porous hybrid film which allows the electrolyte to penetrate and shorten the proton diffusion paths within the bulk of NiO.

RESUMO

Mg2Ni0.8Cr0.2-x wt.% CoO/Al2O3 (x=0.5, 1, 2 and 3) composites were prepared by mechanically milling sintered Mg2Ni0.8Cr0.2 alloy and CoO/Al2O3 compound for 45 h. The addition of CoO/Al2O3 compound resulted in the good kinetics properties of hydriding/dehydriding reaction of the composites. The composite with 1.0 wt.% CoO/Al2O3 catalyst could reach the maximum hydrogen absorption capacity (2.9 wt.%) within 5 min at 393 K under H2 pressure of 4 MPa, and can desorb rapidly at 493 K. The decomposition and synthesis of hydrogen molecule on Mg2Ni0.8Cr0.2 alloy surface was promoted by addition of CoO/Al2O3 catalyst. In addition, the formation of metallic Ni particles, strain and defects during the ball milling process also resulted in the improved hydrogenation performance of Mg2Ni-based alloys.

RESUMO

Nanostructures enhance phonon scattering and improve the figure of merit of thermoelectric materials. Nanosized CoSb(3) skutterudite was synthesized by solvothermal methods using CoCl(2) and SbCl(3) as the precursors. A "two-step" model was suggested for the formation of CoSb(3) based on the X-ray diffraction analysis. The first step is the formation of cobalt diantimonide in the earlier stage during the synthesis process. Diantimonide was then combined with antimony atoms to form the skutterudite structured triantimonide, CoSb(3), in the later stage of the synthesis process as the second step. The synthesized CoSb(3) powders consist of irregular particles with sizes of about 20 nm and sheets of about 80 nm.
