RESUMO

The paper considers modern conceptions about the prognostic value of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) different types. The role of interaction of demographic, hemodynamic, regulatory, intracardiac factors in the formation of prognostic peculiarities in patients with different types of LVH is marked. The data of own investigations indicating that the left ventricular myocardial mass has not less important value in long-term general prognostication than belonging to a concentric or eccentric LVH type in elderly patients with hypertension are presented. Some data concerning left atrial dilatation as an inalienable component of the cardiovascular continuum in essential hypertension are submitted. Pathogenic and prognostic contribution of metabolic disorders associated with hypertension and abdominal obesity in the development of the heart's left parts structural and functional disorders is shown. Issues of long-term outcome in elderly hypertensive patients with metabolic syndrome taking into account the peculiarities of left ventricular geometry are highlighted.

RESUMO

The composition of exopolymer complexes (EPCs), synthesized by the monocultures Desulfovibrio sp. 10, Bacillus subtilis 36, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa 27 and by microbial associations involved in the corrosion of metal surfaces has been studied. An analysis of the monosaccharide composition of carbohydrate components, as well as the fatty acid composition of the lipid part of EPCs, was carried out by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC). It was found that bacteria in biofilms synthesized polymers; this process was dominated by glucose, while the growth of bacteria in a suspension was marked by a high rhamnose content. Hexouronic acids and hexosamine have been revealed as a part of B. subtilis 36 and P. aeruginosa 27 EPCs. Qualitative differences were revealed in the fatty acid composition ofexopolymers in biofilms and in a bacterial suspension. It was shown that the transition to a biofilm form of growth led to an increase in the unsaturation degree of fatty acids in the exopolymers of associative cultures. The results can be used to develop methods to control microbial corrosion of metal surfaces.

RESUMO

The concept of small radiation dose is uncertain. Usually, doses below 300 mSv are considered as small. In this work, a mathematical approach is used to consider changes in peripheral blood count caused by exposure to an effective dose below 1 mSv. The ACS-ENOFIT device is used to assess the efficiency of treatment of a number of diseases. The results obtained in this work show that an analytical method should be used for determination of the dose value and monitoring of changes in the systems of human body.

RESUMO

Software for estimation of the health state of human body and its systems on the basis of blood parameters is described. The software uses ACS-ENOFIT analytical model based on image recognition theory and cluster analysis. This analytical method makes it possible to assess the state of patient's health and the state of each of the 10 body systems. Thus, prophylactic X-ray examination based on measurement of blood parameters makes it possible to reveal various disorders at different stages of development.

RESUMO

Observation of 250 men aged 35-65 years (middle age was 52 +/- 2 years) showed that prevalence of MS was 27%. Atorvastatine administration at dose of 10-20 mg per day for patients with ischemic heart disease and chronic obstructive lung disease associated with MS reduced during month administration the level of cholesterol, triglycerides, beta- and pre-beta-lipoproteids and increased the level of alpha-cholesterol in blood of these patients. Addition of atorvastatine to a common treatment patients with chronic obstructive lung disease improved as well the clinical picture of systemic inflammation process.

RESUMO

Lipopolysaccharides (LPSs) from four strains of Ralstonia solanacearum belonging to biovar I (ICMP 6524, 8115, 5712, and 8169) were isolated and investigated. The structural components of the LPS molecule, such as lipid A, the core oligosaccharide, and O-specific polysaccharide (O-PS), were obtained after mild acid hydrolysis of the LPS preparations. In lipid A from all the LPS samples studied, 3-hydroxyhexadecanoic, 2-hydroxyhexadecanoic, tetradecanoic, and hexadecanoic fatty acids prevailed. The dominant monosaccharides of the core oligosaccharides of all of the strains studied were rhamnose, glucose, glucosamine, 2-keto-3-deoxyoctulosonic acid, and heptose. However, individual strains varied in the content of galactose, ribose, xylose, and arabinose. Three types of the O-PS structure were established, which differed in their configuration (alpha or beta), as well as in the type of the bond between glucosamine and rhamnose residues (1-->2 or 1-->3).

RESUMO

A possibility has been demonstrated to use laser spectroscopy of bacterial glycopolymers by means of measurement of their water solutions fluorescence. Comparative investigations of native lipopolysaccharide (LPS) Ralstonia solanacearum and its structure components permits a supposition to be made that the LPS total spectrum is a result of superposition of the spectrum of O-specific polysaccharide and core oligosaccharide as well as core oligosaccharide and lipid A. The LPS spectrum maximum shift is determined by core oligosaccharide and lipid A luminescence contribution. A decrease as well as complete loss of serological activity as a result of 30 and 60 min UV irradiation of LPS has been established. It has been shown that LPS Rhizobium leguminosarum bv. viciae quenches luminescence of host-plant (pea) lectin depending on the extent of their affinity. Luminescence spectrum of glucan Sinorhizobium meliloti CXM1-188 and two its LPS-mutants differ between themselves both in luminescence intensity and in presence and expression degree of the site 2 with maximum 2.8 eV.

RESUMO

Presentation of visual and acoustic stimuli at a rate of 2-30 Hz modulated variability of the heart rhythm in volunteers. Potentation of vagal influences and a decrease in the contribution of ergotropic systems to the regulation of the heart rate were noted after 10 sessions of audiovisual stimulation. These changes were accompanied by a pronounced decrease of individual and reactive anxiety.

RESUMO

The distribution of a dose in tissue-equivalent phantoms was calculated through convolution of scattered photon flux by using three-dimensional Fourier transform. A simplified model of a scattering kernel is presented, wherein multiple scattering radiation is taken into account by a water point source accumulation factor. A 64 x 64 x 64 grid calculation lasts about 2 sec on a routine personal computer (three-dimensional Fourier transform and convolution). The dose were calculated in the cube, 32 x 32 x 32 cm in size and in the cylinder, 12 cm in diameter for 4 x 4-to-20 x 20-cm radiation fields. The results are in good agreement with the reference data and Monte Carlo simulation results.

RESUMO

Change of heart rate variability in orthostatic test and immunologic parameters in healthy persons depend from their anxiety. Anxious persons were characterized by increase of sympathetic nervous activity at baseline and in orthostatic test, stimulation of immunologic parameters. In persons with high trait anxiety and not high state anxiety immunosuppression and failing of sympathetic nervous activity were found. In unanxious persons prevalence of parasympathetic nervous activity in heart rate regulation and intermediate immunologic parameters were revealed.

RESUMO

The paper proposes a procedure for processing computed tomograms, which records changes in the density and size of the tissue portion exposed to radiation within the preset cross section of layers. Examples of management of 4 patients with various tumorous processes on radiation therapy are presented. The procedure of computed diagnostic processing of computed tomograms gives rather new quantitative information on the changes occurring in the pathological focus and its adjacent healthy tissues, which may lead to the efficiency of radiation therapy.

RESUMO

Computed tomography assesses the linear coefficient of X-ray radiation decrease in the tissue and hence determines changes in its density thus allowing one to control the destruction of tumor cells and tissues during treatment. The paper proposes a procedure for determining the sizes and density of a tumor along the chosen linear direction crossing the image of a pathological focus. The whole procedure is performed by the special computer programme "Diaglmag". The equations that characterize the dynamics of using the parameters used before, during, and after treatment are presented. Baseline information on the optic image densities on a computer tomogram is obtained with a graphic scanner. The examples presented in the paper show it feasible to solve a difficult task to determine the effect of treatment. This enables a treatment regimen to be corrected in time or modified.
