[The orthostatic test with arterial hypertension patients]. / Ortostaticheskaia proba u bol'nykh arterial'noi gipertoniei.

The initial level of the systolic and diastolic arterial pressure (AP) effects the character and value of changes of these indices during the orthostatic test. With elevation of the initial AP level both the healthy and patients with arterial hypertension (AH) showed a tendency to a more pronounced reduction of the systolic AP and to a lesser increase of the diastolic AP in the orthostatic position. In-equal initial AP, patients with AH did not reveal any characteristic differences as compared with the healthy in the response of the AP to orthostasis.

[Effect of physical exertion on the changes in arterial blood pressure, heart rate and electrocardiogram in orthostatic position]. / Vliianie fizicheskoi nagruzki na izmeneniia arterial'nogo davleniia, chastoty serdechnykh sokrashchenii i elektrokardiogrammy v ortostaticheskom polozhenii.

Variations in arterial systolic (APs) and diastolic (APd) pressure, heart rate (HR) and electrocardiograms (ECG) were investigated in 22 normal men, 28 patients with arterial hypertension and 10 patients with chronic ischemic heart disease. Measurements were made during active orthostatic tests applied before and after submaximal exercises. In all three groups, APs diminished after exercise to a greater extent than before exercise. In hypertensive patients, APd increased significantly after exercise but changed insignificantly before exercise. In hypertensive patients with depressed T and ST, the level of ECG changes after exercise diminished by more than 50% as compared to the pre-exercise value.

[Hemodynamic changes in healthy persons and in patients with arterial hypertension during hyperventilation]. / Izmeneniia gemodinamiki u zdorovykh lits i bol'nykh arterial'noi gipertoniei pri giperventiliatsii.

Hemodynamic changes in response to the hyperventilation test were examined in normal males and females of varying age, and in patients with first- and second-stage essential hypertension, renal arterial hypertension and hypertensive neurocirculatory dystonia. Normal subjects showed increased heart rate (HR) and cardiac index (CI), and lowered specific peripheral resistance in response to hyperventilation, the magnitude of HR and CI changes declining with age. The increase in HR and CI during the test was somewhat more pronounced in patients with essential hypertension as compared to normal subjects, whereas in hypertensive neurocirculatory dystonia hemodynamic shifts were similar to those of normal subjects.

[Visual evoked potentials in patients with trigeminal neuralgia]. / Zritel'nye vyzvannye potentsialy u bol'nykh nevralgiei troinichnogo nerva.

Data characterizing visual evoked potentials in neuralgia of the trigeminal nerve are presented. In contrast to healthy individuals, patients with this kind of neuralgia displayed a well pronounced character of early and late components of evoked potentials not only in the occipital but also in the central regions. Other features characteristic of their potentials were a hypersynchronous post-discharge and the presence of peaks. All these findings suggest the resemblance between the central mechanisms of neuralgia of the trigeminal nerve and those of epilepsy.
