RESUMO
Exacerbation of symptoms in mood disorders such as bipolar disorders, major depressive disorders and premenstrual dysphoric disorders could be influenced by the hormonal changes of the menstrual cycles in female patients. Menarche has been related to onset of mood symptoms, which at times have been described as menstrual psychoses and could represent an early presentation of Pediatric bipolar disorders. Pediatric bipolar disorders appear to be characterized by less clearly defined mood episodes, shorter duration of these episodes, and different hallmark symptoms than in adults. This report describes a pediatric patient who had no previous psychiatric symptoms and for whom menstrual psychosis was the presenting symptom of bipolar disorder not otherwise specified.

The adsorption of Acid blue 25, basic blue 9, basic violet 3, Pb(2+), Ni(2+), Zn(2+) and Cd(2+) ions has been studied in single and dye-metal binary solutions using two mineral materials: Clinoptilolite (CL) and ER (Erionite). These zeolites were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy; potentiometric titration and nitrogen adsorption isotherms at 77 K to obtain their textural parameters. Results indicated that ER has an acidic character and a high specific surface (401 m(2) g(-1)) in contrast with the zeolite CL (21 m(2) g(-1)). Surprisingly, the removal of dyes was very similar for the two zeolites and they showed a considerable selectivity by the basic dyes in comparison with the acid dyes. In the case of heavy metals, ER was more effective in the adsorption process showing a selectivity of: Pb(2+) > Ni(2+) > Zn(2+) > Cd(2+). In the multicomponent adsorption experiments an antagonistic effect was observed in the removal of basic dyes and heavy metals. Particularly, the adsorbed amount of basic violet 3 decreased more significantly when the heavy metals are presents in contrast with the basic blue 9.

Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease characterized by remissions and exacerbations. Immunosuppressants are frequently used to induce and maintain remission in these patients. The use of the immunomodulator azathioprine has been associated to malignancies. Chordomas are rare, locally aggressive tumors arising from remnants of the notochord. A specific trigger for this tumor has not been identified and association to any medication has not been reported. The purpose of this report is to present the first case reported in the literature of Crohn's disease associated to a chordoma. The patient to be presented was on azathioprine therapy, among other medications. A review of literature revealed that Crohn's disease and chordoma have abnormalities in chromosomes 1 and 10. Inflammatory bowel disease and chordoma also have abnormalities in chromosomal regions 1p, 3p, and 7q. Despite these findings, a direct genetic relationship between these diseases is speculative.
