RESUMO
A method of a modified nest-type polymerase chain reaction (MN-PCR), made in one tube, was elaborated that enhances the sensitivity and cuts the risk of cross-contamination in enteroviruses (EV) detection. The method, as described in detail above, was used to detect EV RNA in 76.9% and 31.25% of examined autopsy samples (13 liquor and 16 cardiac-tissue samples, respectively). It enabled the detection of EV RNA in 6.25% of samples that used to be negative, when tested by MN-PCR in 2 tubes. MN-PCR with one tube is a reliable, sensitive and specific diagnostic tool; it can be recommended for the routine diagnostics of enterovirus infection.

The diagnostic value of three methods for detection of herpes virus infection caused by herpes simplex virus and cytomegaloviruses was investigated in patients with allotransplanted organs. The method of molecular hybridization was demonstrated to be more sensitive in diagnosing herpes virus infection than virological and cytological methods. Herpes virus infection can be effectively diagnosed by a complex of methods including the detection of cytomegalic cells in the urine and saliva.

It was shown to be necessary to control the level of antibody to cytomegalovirus in order to improve the selection of donor-recipient pairs. High antibody titres to cytomegalovirus constitute one of contraindications against allotransplantation.

Results of clinico-genealogical and immunogenetic examination of 220 persons including 150 patients suffering from rheumatism and members of their families have been presented. The object of the examination was a B-cell marker carriership to be determined by means of monoclonic antibodies D8/17 with the use of the microlymphocytotoxic method. The marker carriership was detected in 96 per cent of probands-patients with rheumatism and in 40.3 per cent of their relatives and in 6.7 per cent of healthy individuals of the control group. A possible contribution of the B-cell marker to rheumatism liability was suggested. A further study of the role of the given marker in rheumatism has been found advisable.

A study was made of the immunodepressive activity of phentirin (dichlohydrate o/p-di (2-cholorethyl) aminophenyl/D,L-tyrosine). The preparation was administered to mice in a dose of 50 mg/kg, per os. Experimental results showed phentirin to produce a marked immunodepressive action on the transplantation immunity and the production of plaque- and rosette-forming cells. Immunodepressive action of phentirin was more pronounced in comparison with azaprine under the same experimental conditions.
