The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (COVID-19) pandemic has brought a heavy burden and severe challenges to the global economy and society, forcing different countries and regions to take various preventive and control measures ranging from normal operations to partial or complete lockdowns. Taking Xi'an city as an example, based on multisource POI data for the government's vegetable storage delivery points, logistics terminal outlets, designated medical institutions, communities, etc., this paper uses the Gaussian two-step floating catchment area method (2SFCA) and other spatial analysis methods to analyze the spatial pattern of emergency support points (ESPs) and express logistics terminals in different situations. It then discusses construction and optimization strategies for urban emergency support and delivery service systems. The conclusions are as follows. (1) The ESPs are supported by large-scale chain supermarkets and fresh supermarkets, which are positively related to the population distribution.The spatial distribution of express logistics terminals is imbalanced, dense in the middle while sparse at the edges. 90% of express terminals are located within a 500 m distance of communities, however, some terminals are shared, which restrict their ability to provide emergency support to surrounding residents. (2) In general, accessibility increases as the number of ESPs increases; under normal traffic, as the distance threshold increases, the available ESPs increase but accessibility slightly decreases; with a traffic lockdown, the travel distance of residents is limited, and as ESPs increase, accessibility and the number of POIs covered significantly increase. (3) The spatial accessibility of the ESPs has a "dumbbell-shaped" distribution, with highest accessibility in the north and south, higher around the second ring road, slightly lower in the center, and lowest near the third ring road at east and west. (4) With the goal of "opening up the logistics artery and unblocking the distribution microcirculation", based on "ESPs + couriers + express logistics terminals + residents", this paper proposes to build and optimize the urban emergency support and delivery service system to improve the comprehensive ability of the city to cope with uncertain risks.

We investigated the distributions of phosphate (PO4-P) and used the oxygen isotope composition of phosphate (δ18OP) to quantify PO4-P sources in the waters of Huangbai River. According to the environmental characteristics of Huangbai River basin, the sampling stations in the Huangbai River were divided into three groups: sampling stations in the phosphate mining area, in the outcrop area of phosphate rock, and in the residential/agricultural area. The average PO4-P concentration was highest (2.34 ± 1.00 µmol/L) in the outcrop area of phosphate ore, intermediate in the residential/agricultural area (1.06 ± 1.21 µmol/L), and lowest in the phosphate mining area (0.58 ± 0.31 µmol/L). The δ18OP measured in the Huangbai River waters ranged from 6.0 to 20.9‰, with the highest average value in the outcrop area of phosphate rock (average: 14.6‰ ± 3.1‰). The majority of the measured δ18OP values in the Huangbai River deviated greatly from the expected equilibrium values, indicating that δ18OP in this area could be used to trace PO4-P sources. We used two end-member mixing models to quantify the contribution of PO4-P from different sources. In the phosphate mining area, the average fractions of PO4-P from phosphate ore and sewage were 49.5% ± 23.8% and 50.5% ± 23.8%, respectively. In the outcrop area of phosphate rock, the average fractions of PO4-P from phosphate ore and sewage were 60.1% ± 21.7% and 39.9% ± 21.7%, respectively. In the residential/agricultural area, the average fractions of PO4-P from fertilizer and sewage were 49.2% ± 23.2% and 50.8% ± 23.2%, respectively. These results indicate that phosphate mining activities was not an important source for PO4-P in the waters of Huangbai River. The natural weathering of phosphate rock, fertilization, and domestic sewage contributed more to the high PO4-P concentrations in the Huangbai River waters.

BACKGROUND: To investigate the differences in plasma metabolomic characteristics between pathological complete response (pCR) and non-pCR patients and identify biomarker candidates for predicting the response to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). METHODS: A total of 46 ESCC patients were included in this study. Gas chromatography time-of- flight mass spectrometry (GC-TOF/MS) technology was applied to detect the plasma samples collected before nCRT via untargeted metabolomics analysis. RESULTS: Five differentially expressed metabolites (out of 109) was found in plasma between pCR and non-pCR groups. Compared with non-pCR group, isocitric acid (p = 0.0129), linoleic acid (p = 0.0137), citric acid (p = 0.0473) were upregulated, while L-histidine (p = 0.0155), 3'4 dihydroxyhydrocinnamic acid (p = 0.0339) were downregulated in the pCR plasma samples. Pathway analyses unveiled that citrate cycle (TCA cycle), glyoxylate and dicarboxylate metabolic pathway were associated with ESCC chemoradiosensitivity. CONCLUSION: The present study provided supporting evidence that GC-TOF/MS based metabolomics approach allowed identification of metabolite differences between pCR and non-pCR patients in plasma levels, and the systemic metabolic status of patients may reflect the response of ESCC patient to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy.

In this study, the effect of ionizing radiation on 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in human peripheral blood was investigated. Blood samples were collected from 230 radiation workers and 8 patients who underwent radiotherapy for population study. Blood samples from 2 healthy individuals were irradiated with different X-ray doses for in vitro experiment, and levels of 8-OHdG in serum and cell culture supernatants were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Observations demonstrated the positive relationships between serum 8-OHdG level and radiation dose and working period were observed, and serum 8-OHdG levels were higher among interventional radiation workers than among other hospital radiation workers. In addition, 8-OHdG yields in supernatants increased, peaked at 3 Gy of radiation dose, and then decreased with further increases in radiation; the dose-response curve obtained fitted a polynomial function. By contrast, a similar trend was not found in radiotherapy patients. The present study suggests that 8-OHdG may be a useful biomarker reflecting oxidative damage among workers occupationally exposed to low-dose radiation.

OBJECTIVE: : This study aims to investigate the truth-telling status and the relevant factors of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) patients in Henan, China. METHODS: : A cross-sectional study from April to June 2015 using questionnaires was given to 301 family members of hospitalized ESCC patients based in three affiliated hospitals of Zhengzhou University (i.e., The First Hospital, The Second Hospital, and Tumor Hospital) and Anyang Tumor Hospital. RESULTS: : Among the 41.9% (126/301) hospitalized ESCC patients who knew of their true diagnoses, only 4.0% patients were informed by their corresponding responsible doctors, 39.7% by their family members, and 56.3% by themselves. Univariate analyses showed that disclosure of confirmed ESCC diagnosis to patients was correlated with gender, family history of cancer (FHC), education level, vocation, hospital administrative level, and attitudes of family members (P < 0.05). Furthermore, multivariate analysis indicated that attitude of family members was the most important and an independent factor for diagnosis disclosure. Those patients with a negative FHC, under-education, manual occupation, advanced stages, and hospitalized in municipal hospitals exhibited a low rate of truth telling. CONCLUSIONS: : Truth telling for ESCC patients in Henan is not prevalent and may be improved through consultation with family members, particularly for patients with a negative FHC, poor education, manual occupation, and advanced stages.
