RESUMO

The problems of exponential stability and L1 -gain for positive impulsive Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy systems are further studied in this article. Different from the Lyapunov function in the literature, where the Lyapunov matrices are time-invariant or only linearly dependent on the impulse interval, in this article, a novel polynomial impulse-dependent (ID) copositive Lyapunov function (CLF) is constructed by using the polynomial impulse time function. In addition, the binomial coefficients are applied to derive new finite linear programming conditions. Less conservative results are obtained since the polynomial ID CLF contains more impulse interval information. Three examples demonstrate the influence of the polynomial degree on the results and the effectiveness of the developed new results.

RESUMO

Herein, we report an efficient and straightforward approach for the synthesis of N-alkylated aminoquinoline derivatives by recyclable Cd-containing coordination polymer-catalyzed reactions of aminoquinolines with primary alcohols via the borrowing hydrogen strategy. In this work, a new type of coordination polymer [Cd(CIA)(phen)2(H2O)]n was successfully designed and fabricated. The molecular structure was corroborated by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and fully characterized by PXRD, FT-IR, TGA, and XPS. Importantly, this polymer revealed high catalytic activity for the N-alkylation reaction of 2-aminoquinoline and 8-aminoquinoline with inexpensive and low-toxicity alcohols as alkylating agents in excellent yields up to 95%. Interestingly, the present synthetic protocol was successfully applied for the gram-level synthesis of several biologically active compounds. In addition, several control reactions were carried out to investigate the possible mechanisms of this transformation. Finally, recycling experiments indicated that the cadmium coordination polymer showed good recovery performance for borrowing hydrogen reactions.

RESUMO

Presently, the separation of oil and water through functional membranes inevitably entails either inefficient gravity-driven processes or energy-intensive vacuum pressure mechanisms. This study introduces an innovative photothermal evaporator that uses solar energy to drive oil-water separation while concurrently facilitating the detection of Fe3+ in wastewater. First, by alkali delignification, small holes were formed on the side wall of the large size tubular channel in the direction of wood growth. Subsequently, superhydrophilic SiO2 nanoparticles were in situ assembled onto the sidewalls of the tubular channels. Finally, carbon quantum dots were deposited by spin-coating on the surface of the evaporator, paralleling the growth direction of the wood. During the photothermal evaporation process, the tubular channels with small holes in the side wall parallel the bulk water, which not only ensures the effective water supply to the photothermal surface but also reduces the heat loss caused by water reflux on the photothermal surface. The superhydrophilic SiO2 nanoparticles confer both hydrophilic and oleophobic properties to the evaporator, preventing the accumulation of minute oil droplets within the device and achieving sustained and stable oil-water separation over extended periods. These carbon quantum dots exhibit capabilities for both photothermal conversion and fluorescence transmission. This photothermal evaporator achieves an evaporation rate as high as 2.3 kg m-2 h-1 in the oil-water separation process, and it has the ability to detect Fe3+ concentrations in wastewater as low as 10-9 M.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: We designed a 3D-printed extracorporeal positioning guide for assisting ultrasound-guided microwave ablation of the liver and observed its effectiveness. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS: 13 patients with liver cancer were selected, and their CT data were obtained. The CT data is reconstructed in 3D by computer software Mimics to create a 3D model. The 3D-printed in vitro positioning guides were designed by 3-Matic and fabricated using 3D printing technology. Finally, it is applied to the clinic, and its effect is observed. RESULTS: The preliminary design of a 3D printed extracorporeal positioning guide was applied to the clinic, and the efficiency of assisted ultrasound positioning was 76.92% (10/13), with three patients requiring repositioning. The efficiency of the 3D printed extracorporeal positioning guide technique was 76.92%, a CT examination was performed one month after surgery, and three patients had residual lesions. CONCLUSIONS: 3D-printed extracorporeal positioning guides can assist ultrasound in localizing tumors during liver microwave ablation and reduce repeated punctures. It makes percutaneous microwave ablation of the liver more precise and safe. However, the current study sample is small, there are still apparent shortcomings, and long-term clinical studies are needed to prove its effectiveness.

RESUMO

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in China has grown rapidly after adjustment of the dynamic zero-COVID-19 strategy. However, how different vaccination states affect symptoms, severity and post COVID conditions was unclear. Here, we used an online questionnaire to investigate the infection status of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) among 11,897 participants, with 55.55% positive and 28.42% negative. The common COVID-19 symptoms were fatigue (73.31%), cough (70.02%), fever (65.25%) and overall soreness (58.64%); self-reported asymptomatic infection accounted for 0.7% of participants. The persistent symptoms at 1 month after infection included fatigue (48.7%), drowsiness (34.3%), cough (30.1%), decreased exercise ability (23.1%) and pharyngeal discomfort (19.4%), which was reduced by more than 200% at 2 months. Participants with complications such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory diseases, diabetes, hypertension, etc. have a higher proportion of hospitalization and longer recovery time (p < = 0.01). Multiple vaccination statuses reduced the infection (p < 0.001) and severity rates (p = 0.022) by varying degrees as well as reduced the risk of high fever (>39.1 °C), chills, diarrhea and ageusia/anosmia, respectively (p < 0.05). Vaccination may enhance some upper respiratory symptoms, including sore throat, nasal congestion and runny nose, respectively (p < 0.05). Participants who had been vaccinated within 3 months were better protected by helping reduce their risk of overall soreness, chills and ageusia/anosmia, respectively (p < 0.05). In conclusion, our work has updated the epidemic characteristics of the breakthrough infection (BTI) wave after the dynamic zero-COVID-19 strategy, providing data and insights on how different vaccination statuses affect COVID-19 symptoms and disease prognosis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Ultraviolet (UV) interferes with the vision, flight initiation, dispersal, host, and population dispersion of herbivorous insects. Hence, UV-blocking film has recently been developed as one of the most potential tools to control pests under tropical greenhouse conditions. In this study, we investigated the effects of UV-blocking film on the population dynamics of Thrips palmi Karny and the growth status of Hami melon (Cucumis melo var. reticulatus) in greenhouses. RESULTS: By comparing thrips populations in greenhouses covered with UV-blocking films with those covered with ordinary polyethylene films, we found that the UV-blocking film effectively reduced the thrips population within 1 week and continued to control the population, meanwhile the quality and yield of melon in UV-blocking greenhouses also had a substantial increase. CONCLUSION: The UV-blocking film remarkably inhibited the population growth of thrips and greatly improved the yield of Hami melon cultivated in UV-blocking greenhouse compared with the control greenhouse. Overall, UV-blocking film is a very powerful potential tool for green pest control in the field, enhancing the quality of tropical fruits, and providing a new wind vane for sustainable green agriculture in the future. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

In conventional photo-thermal-electric conversion systems, the photo-thermal conversion module is coupled to a thermoelectric conversion module. However, the physical contact interface between the modules causes serious energy loss. In order to solve this problem, a novel photo-thermal-electric conversion system with an integrated support material has been developed, with a photo-thermal conversion component at the top, an inside thermoelectric conversion component, and a cooling component at the bottom, surrounded by a water conduction component. The supporting materials of each part are polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), and there is no apparent physical interface between each part. This integrated support material reduces the heat loss caused by the mechanically coupled interfaces in traditional components. In addition, the confined edge 2D water transport path effectively reduces the heat loss due to water convection. Under 1 sun irradiation, the water evaporation rate and open-circuit voltage of the integrated system reach 2.46 kg m-2 h-1 and 30 mV, respectively, and are nearly 1.4 times and 5.8 times higher than those of non-integrated systems.

RESUMO

Pyrethroid resistance of thrips has been reported in many countries, and knockdown resistance (kdr) has been identified as a main mechanism against pyrethroids in many insects. To characterize pyrethroid resistance in Megalurothrips usitatus from the Hainan Province of China, we conducted a biological assay and sequenced the voltage-gated sodium channel gene domain II from M. usitatus field populations. It showed high resistance to the pyrethroids for 2019 and 2020, in which LC50 to lambda-cyhalothrin of M. usitatus was 1683.521 mg/L from Sanya in 2020. The LC50 value of deltamethrin was lower in Haikou than in other locations, which mean the south of Hainan has higher resistance than the north of Hainan. Two mutations of I873S and V1015M were detected in the domain II region of the sodium channel in M. usitatus; however, the mutation frequency of V1015M was only 3.33% and that of I873S was 100%. One is homozygous and the other is a heterozygous mutant type. The three thrips-sensitive strains of sodium channel 873 are highly conserved in amino acids (isoleucine), while the M. usitatus pyrethroid-resistant strains are all serine, so I873S may be related to the resistance of M. usitatus to pyrethroids. The present study will contribute to the understanding of the evolution of pyrethroids resistance and contribute to the development of resistance management of M. usitatus in Hainan.

RESUMO

Purpose: To investigate the short-term clinical effect of collagenase chemonucleolysis (CCNL) in the treatment of residual pain after transforaminal lumbar endoscopic discectomy (TLED). Patients and Methods: The clinical data of 40 patients with residual pain after TLED for lumbar disc herniation (LDH) in our hospital from January 2018 to December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. The visual analogue scale (VAS) and quality of recovery-15 (QoR-15) were used to evaluate the effect of the operation. Modified MacNab method was used to evaluate the efficacy of CCNL at 6 months and 12 months after operation. Results: All patients successfully completed the operation without serious complications, such as intervertebral space infection, vascular injury and nerve injury. The VAS 3 days after TLED was not significantly lower than that Pre-TLED (P > 0.05). The VAS at each time point after CCNL was significantly lower than that at Pre-TLED, and the QoR-15 score at each time point after CCNL was significantly higher than that 3 days after CCNL (P < 0.05). The modified MacNab criteria for the last follow-up was 95%. Conclusion: CCNL can effectively relieve the residual pain after TLED, and the quality of life of patients after TLED is improved with time, and the safety of CCNL is higher.

RESUMO

Dimpled particles are synthesized through the seeded polymerization of fluoroacrylate and styrene on swelled polystyrene spheres. The morphologies of the particles can be controlled by the polymerization temperature, the amount of solvent swelling the seeds or the ratio of the fluoroacrylate monomer over styrene. Golf-ball-like particles with many small dimples on their surfaces are obtained at low polymerization temperatures or with a small amount of solvent. Particles with a large single dimple are formed at higher polymerization temperatures, with larger solvent amounts or a higher ratio of fluoroacrylate over styrene. The morphology formation mechanism of these dimpled particles is proposed and the application of these particles in the fabrication of superhydrophobic coatings is demonstrated.

RESUMO

A series of stringent non-pharmacological and pharmacological interventions were implemented to contain the pandemic but the pandemic continues. Moreover, vaccination breakthrough infection and reinfection in convalescent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases have been reported. Further, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants emerged with mutations in spike (S) gene, the target of most current vaccines. Importantly, the mutations exhibit a trend of immune escape from the vaccination. Herein the scientific question that if the vaccination drives genetic or antigenic drifts of SARS-CoV-2 remains elusive. We performed correlation analyses to uncover the impacts of wide vaccination on epidemiological characteristics of COVID-19. In addition, we investigated the evolutionary dynamics and genetic diversity of SARS-CoV-2 under immune pressure by utilizing the Bayesian phylodynamic inferences and the lineage entropy calculation respectively. We found that vaccination coverage was negatively related to the infections, severe cases, and deaths of COVID-19 respectively. With the increasing vaccination coverage, the lineage diversity of SARS-CoV-2 dampened, but the rapid mutation rates of the S gene were identified, and the vaccination could be one of the explanations for driving mutations in S gene. Moreover, new epidemics resurged in several countries with high vaccination coverage, questioning their current pandemic control strategies. Hence, integrated vaccination and non-pharmacological interventions are critical to control the pandemic. Furthermore, novel vaccine preparation should enhance its capabilities to curb both disease severity and infection possibility.

RESUMO

Introduction: This study investigated miR-29b-3p's effects and mechanisms in preeclampsia development. Material and methods: In this study, we analysed the pathology and expression of miR-29b-3p and B2R mRNA from normal and preeclampsia placenta tissues using hematoxylin and eosin staining and RT-qPCR assay. For cell experiments, we used transwell assay CCK-8, flow cytometry and wound healing assay to determine the effects and correlation of miR-29b-3p and B2R in HTR-8/SVneo cell proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle, cell invasion and migration in a preeclampsia cell model. Moreover, the mechanisms were determined using Western blot or immunofluorescence in different groups. Results: Clinical analysis revealed that miR-29b-3p gene expression dramatically increased with increasing degree of preeclampsia (p < 0.001 or p < 0.05, respectively). The HTR-8/SVneo cell biological activities of the model group were significantly depressed (p < 0.001). However, with miR-29b-3p inhibitor or B2R transfection, the HTR-8/SVneo cell biological activities significantly recovered (p < 0.001). Western blot assay showed that B2R, VEGF-A, CCND-1, MMP-2 and MMP-9 levels were suppressed in the model group, compared with those in the NC groups (p < 0.001, respectively). With miR-29b-3p inhibitor or B2R transfection, the protein expression levels of B2R, VEGF-A, CCND-1, MMP-2 and MMP-9 dramatically increased (p < 0.001, respectively). Conclusions: The down-regulation of miR-29b-3p could improve HTR-8/SVneo cell biological activities in a preeclampsia cell model by targeting B2R.

RESUMO

Recently, a switching method is applied to deal with the membership function-dependent Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional (LKF) for fuzzy systems with time delay; however, the Lyapunov matrices are only linear dependent on the grades of membership which leads to linear switching (Wang and Lam, 2019). In this article, the linear dependence on the grades of membership is extended to homogenous polynomially membership function dependent (HPMFD) and the linear switching is extended to polynomial matrix switching, based on which the obtained result contains the previous one as a special case. Furthermore, in order to fully use the introduced variables without speial structure, an iteration algorithm is designed to construct the switching controller and the initial condition of the algorithm is also discussed. The final simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the developed new results.

RESUMO

This work reports a novel approach for the synthesis of FeCo alloy nanoparticles (NPs) embedded in the N,P-codoped carbon coated nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes (NPC/FeCo@NCNTs). Specifically, the synthesis of NCNT is achieved by the calcination of graphene oxide-coated polystyrene spheres with Fe3+, Co2+ and melamine adsorbed, during which graphene oxide is transformed into carbon nanotubes and simultaneously nitrogen is doped into the graphitic structure. The NPC/FeCo@NCNT is demonstrated to be an efficient and durable bifunctional catalyst for oxygen evolution (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). It only needs an overpotential of 339.5 mV to deliver 10 mA cm-2 for OER and an onset potential of 0.92 V to drive ORR. Its bifunctional catalytic activities outperform those of the composite catalyst Pt/C + RuO2 and most bifunctional catalysts reported. The experimental results and density functional theory calculations have demonstrated that the interplay between FeCo NPs and NCNT and the presence of N,P-codoped carbon structure play important roles in increasing the catalytic activities of the NPC/FeCo@NCNT. More impressively, the NPC/FeCo@NCNT can be used as the air-electrode catalyst, improving the performance of rechargeable liquid and flexible all-solid-state zinc-air batteries.

RESUMO

Recently, few studies have focused on the light-trapping surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrate combined with Si micropyramids and Ag (or Au). However, the Si micropyramids possess no ordered period, which not only affects the repeatability of the SERS signal but also affects the theoretical exploration. Here, the ordered micropyramids with strong light-trapping capability were fabricated by utilizing unconventional nanosphere lithography and anisotropy wet etching technique. Then, the Ag nanobowls were assembled on the ordered micropyramids to form the SERS substrate with bioinspired compound-eyes structure by utilizing the liquid-solid interface self-assembly and transfer technique. Especially, the evidence for the contribution of antireflective Si micropyramids to Raman enhancement was first presented. For this bioinspired SERS substrate, the lowest concentration of R6G that can be detected is 10-13 M with the level of a single molecule, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) is 3.68%. Meanwhile, the quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis can be realized. Especially, simultaneous trace detection of four common dyes (R6G, CV, MG, and MB) in food can be realized, suggesting that this SERS substrate will have a good application prospect in the field of optical sensors.

RESUMO

Pyrethroid and indoxacarb are commonly used pesticides to control the fall armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda) in the crops. There are a series of consequences caused by the use of pyrethroid and indoxacarb pesticides under emergency control, such as pest resistance development, contamination of soil, water, and farm products. This study analyzed the structure and physiological function of the sodium channel in S. frugiperda, which is an important step to elaborate the resistance mechanism of S. frugiperda to indoxacarb and pyrethroid pesticides. According to genetic analysis, the cloned cDNA sequences of sodium channel in S. frugiperda (SfNav) showed the shortest genetic distance with that of the sodium channel in Helicoverpa armigera. Under the induction of three pesticides, the expression of SfNav decreased in the first 12 h and then increased after 24 h. It was concluded that SfNav had a typical structure of the sodium channel of insects and its down-regulated expression can decrease the combination of S. frugiperda with pyrethroid and indoxacarb pesticides. The up-regulated expression of SfNav was conducive to the enhancement of the pesticide resistance.

RESUMO

In the recently published paper, a switching method has been proposed to deal with the time derivative of the membership functions and less conservative results can be obtained due to this method; however, this method is based on the assumption that the switching times are finite. In this article, this method is further studied and the average dwell-time (ADT) switching technique is applied to ensure the stability if there is no such assumption. In addition, an algorithm is proposed to find the switching controller gains. The final simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the developed new results.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Long non-coding RNAs have suppressive or oncogenic effects in various types of cancers by serving as competing endogenous RNAs for specific microRNAs. In the present study, we aim to delineate the underlying mechanism by which the LINC00473/miR-29a-3p/Robo1 axis affects cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). METHODS: The level of Robo1 was examined in HCC tissues and cells, along with its regulatory effects on proliferation, migration, and invasion of HCC cells. Afterwards, the possible involvement of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway was determined. Next, miR-29a-3p expression was overexpressed or inhibited to investigate its regulatory role on HCC cell activities. The interaction among miR-29a-3p, Robo1, and LINC00473 was further characterized. Finally, a xenograft tumor in nude mice was conducted to measure tumorigenesis and metastasis in vivo. RESULTS: miR-29a-3p was downregulated while Robo1 was upregulated in HCC tissues and cells. miR-29a-3p targeted Robo1 and negatively regulated its expression. In response to miR-29a-3p overexpression, Robo1 silencing or LINC00473 silencing, HCC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, tumor progression, and metastasis were impeded, which was involved with the inactivation of the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway. Notably, LINC00473 could competitively bind to miR-29a-3p to upregulate Robo1 expression. CONCLUSION: LINC00473 might be involved in HCC progression by acting as a miR-29a-3p sponge to upregulate the expression of Robo1 that activates the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathway, which leads to enhanced cell proliferation, migration, invasion, tumor progression, and metastasis in HCC.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Pyrethroids are classified as type I and type II for distinct symptomology. Voltage-gated sodium channel is a primary target of pyrethroids. Mutations of the insect sodium channel have been identified to result in resistance to pyrethroids. Double mutation (L1002 F/M906 I) was detected in field-strain of Apolygus lucorum (Meyer-Dür). Although, it was illuminated the function of the same position mutation in other pests, it is necessary to demonstrate the role in A. lucorum . RESULTS: In this study, we examined the effects of mutations on channel gating and pyrethroid sensitivity in Xenopus oocytes. L1002 F, M906 I and L1002 F/M906 I all shifted the voltage dependence of activation in the depolarizing direction. L1002 F, M906 I and L1002 F/M906 I all reduced the amplitude of tail currents induced by type I (bifenthrin and permethrin) and type II (λ-cyhalothrin and deltamethrin). The double mutation, L1002 F/M906 I, reduced integral channel modification by 10-fold compared with the L1002 F and M906 I mutations alone, respectively. Computational analysis based on the model of dual pyrethroid receptors, the two resistance mutations, L1002 F and M906 I are facing two opposite sides of this newly identified pocket. Both mutations affect the optimal binding of the ligands by changing the shape of the pocket but in different ways. CONCLUSION: Our results illustrate the distinct effect of mutations on pyrethroids. It is predicted with computer modeling that these mutations allosterically affect pyrethroid binding. © 2020 Society of Chemical Industry.
