This study evaluated the structural characteristics, processing properties, and antioxidant properties of hydrolysates prepared from donkey milk (DM) whey protein using different proteases (Alcalase, Neutrase, papain, and Flavourzyme). The results showed that enzymatic hydrolysis significantly increased hydrolysate solubility and reduced average particle size compared to those of DM whey protein. Neutrase and Flavourzyme hydrolysates exhibited higher degrees of hydrolysis (DH), along with elevated emulsification properties and surface hydrophobicity. The choice of protease influenced secondary and tertiary protein structures and amino acid composition. Enzymatic hydrolysis led to decreased molecular weight of DM whey proteins. Moreover, all hydrolysates exhibited higher fluorescence intensity at λmax compared to DM whey protein, implying distinct properties due to the varied impacts of the four proteases on DM whey protein structure. The preparation of hydrolysates from DM whey proteins using proteases contributes to the development of integrated-value DM products.

Bacteria-driven strategies have gained attention because of their effectiveness, viability, and cost-efficiency in the soil formation process of bauxite residues. However, further investigation is needed to enhance the extreme environment of bauxite residues and facilitate long-term sustainable development of bacteria. Here, soil, phosphogypsum, and leaf litter were selected as amendments, and soil and leaf litter were also used as bacterial inoculants in a 12-month microcosm experiment with bauxite residues. The results showed significant improvements in physicochemical properties, including alkalinity, organic carbon content, nutrient availability, and physical structure, when bauxite residue was mixed with amendments, particularly when different amendments were combined. The diversity, structure, and function of the bacterial community were significantly enhanced with the amelioration of the physicochemical properties. In the treated samples, especially those treated with a combination of different amendments, the relative abundance (RA) of alkali-resistant bacterial taxa decreased, whereas the RA of some common taxa found in normal soil increased, and the structure of the bacterial community gradually changed towards that of normal soil. A strong correlation between physicochemical and biological properties was found. These findings suggest that rational application of soil, phosphogypsum, and leaf litter effectively improves the environmental conditions of bauxite residues and facilitate long-term sustainable bacterial communities.

Iron (hydr)oxides and humic acid (HA) are important active components in soils and usually coexist in the environment. The effects of HA on the adsorption and subsequent immobilization of phosphate on iron (hydr)oxide surface are of great importance in studies of soil fertility and eutrophication. In this study, two types of goethite with different particle sizes were prepared to investigate the phosphate adsorption behaviors and complexation mechanisms in the absence or presence of HA by combining multiple characterization and modeling studies. The adsorption capacity of micro- (M-Goe) and nano-sized goethite (N-Goe) for phosphate was 2.02 and 2.04 µmol/m2, which decreased by ∼25% and ∼45% in the presence of 100 and 200 mg/L HA, respectively. Moreover, an increase in equilibrium phosphate concentration significantly decreased the adsorption amount of goethite for HA. Charge distribution-multisite surface complexation (CD-MUSIC) and natural organic matter-charge distribution (NOM-CD) modeling identified five phosphate complexes and their corresponding affinity constants (logKP). Among these phosphate complexes, FeOPO2OH, (FeO)2PO2, and (FeO)2POOH species were predominant complexes on the surface of both M-Goe and N-Goe across a wide range of pH and initial phosphate concentrations. The presence of HA had little effect on the coordination mode and logKP of phosphate on goethite surface. These results and the obtained model parameters shed new lights on the interfacial reactivity of phosphate at the goethite-water interface in the presence of HA, and may facilitate further prediction of the environmental fate of phosphate in soils and sediments.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of malignant tumors has increased in patients with non-paraneoplastic pemphigus, although there has been no systematic analysis of global epidemiology. OBJECTIVE: To explore the epidemiology of various types of non-paraneoplastic pemphigus associated with malignant tumors. METHODS: Five databases from establishment through October 20, 2023, were searched. STATA SE 17 was used for the data analysis. Subgroup, meta-regression, and sensitivity analyses were used to evaluate the heterogeneity of pooled studies. RESULTS: A total of 6679 participants were included in our meta-analysis from 16 studies. The aggregated prevalence of tumors in patients diagnosed with pemphigus was 8%. The prevalence was 7% in patients with pemphigus vulgaris, 10% in those with pemphigus foliaceus, and 12% in individuals diagnosed with other types of pemphigus. The prevalence was 8% in Asia, 11% in Europe, and 8% in North America. From a country-specific perspective, patients with pemphigus from Israel, Greece, and Germany exhibited a higher prevalence of tumors at 11%. Furthermore, when categorized by the duration of the study period, the highest prevalence was observed in studies spanning 10 to 20 years, at 11%. CONCLUSION: These findings demonstrate the incidence and prevalence of malignant tumors in patients with non-paraneoplastic pemphigus, which may achieve early detection and intervention, and then reduce mortality rates.

BACKGROUND: To evaluate the efficacy of comprehensive physical and mental nursing for patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI) undergoing intravenous thrombolytic therapy and its impact on patients' quality of life and psychological state. METHODS: A total of 200 patients with ACI, admitted to our hospital between December 2018 and December 2019, were included in the study. They were randomly assigned to either the control group or the experimental group using a random number table. The control group received routine care (basic care such as monitoring vital signs, assisting with daily activities, administering medications, and providing comfort measures), while the experimental group received comprehensive physical and mental nursing (physical care, phsycological surpport, education and conceling). Various parameters including quality of life index (QLI) scores, mental status scale in non-psychiatric settings (MSSNS) scores, self-rating anxiety scale (SAS) scores, self-rating depression scale (SDS) scores, National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) scores, changes in hemodynamic indicators, and incidence of adverse events during intravenous thrombolysis were compared between the two groups. RESULTS: The experimental group had higher QLI scores and lower MSSNS, SAS, SDS, and NIHSS scores compared to the control group (p = 0.33, 0.22, 0.35, 0.26, 0.042). The experimental group also exhibited a lower incidence of adverse reactions during intravenous thrombolysis (p = 0.02). CONCLUSION: Comprehensive physical and mental nursing for patients with ACI undergoing intravenous thrombolysis improves nursing efficacy, nursing satisfaction, quality of life, and patients' psychological state. These findings highlight the importance of implementing holistic nursing interventions to optimize patient outcomes in ACI management.

Soil microbes are key drivers in regulating the phosphorus cycle. Elucidating the microbial mineralization process of soil phosphorus-solubilizing bacteria is of great significance for improving nutrient uptake and yield of crops. This study investigated the mechanism by which citrus cultivation affects the soil microbial acquisition strategy for phosphorus by measuring the abundance of the phoD gene, microbial community diversity and structure, and soil phosphorus fractions in the soils of citrus orchards and adjacent natural forests. The results showed that citrus cultivation could lead to a decrease in soil pH and an accumulation of available phosphorus in the soil, with a content as high as 112 mg·kg-1, which was significantly higher than that of natural forests (3.7 mg·kg-1). Citrus cultivation also affected the soil phosphorus fractions, with citrus soil having higher levels of soluble phosphorus (CaCl2-P), citrate-extractable phosphorus (Citrate-P), and mineral-bound phosphorus (HCl-P). The phosphorus fractions of natural forest soils were significantly lower than those of citrus soils, whereas the phoD gene abundance and alkaline phosphatase activity were significantly higher in natural forest soils than in citrus soils. High-throughput sequencing results showed that the Shannon diversity index of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria in citrus soils was 4.61, which was significantly lower than that of natural forests (5.35). The microbial community structure in natural forests was also different from that of citrus soils. In addition, the microbial community composition of phosphate-solubilizing bacteria in citrus soils was also different from that of natural forests, with the relative abundance of Proteobacteria being lower in natural forest soils than in citrus soils. Therefore, citrus cultivation led to a shift of soil microbial acquisition strategy for phosphorus, with external phosphorus addition being the main strategy in citrus soils, whereas microbial mineralization of organic phosphorus was the main strategy in natural forest soils to meet their growth requirements.

Hematite nanoparticles commonly undergoes isomorphic substitution of Al3+ in nature, while how the Al-substitution-induced morphological change, defective structure and newly generated Al-OH sites affect the adsorption behavior of hematite for contaminants remains poorly understood. Herein, the interfacial reactions between Al-substituted hematite and Pb2+ was investigated via CD-MUSIC modeling and DFT calculations. As the Al content increased from 0% to 9.4%, Al-substitution promoted the proportion of (001) facets and caused Fe vacancies on hematite, which increased the total active site density of hematite from 5.60 to 17.60 sites/nm2. The surface positive charge of hematite significantly increased from 0.096 to 0.418 C/m2 at pH 5.0 due to the increases in site density and proton affinity (logKH) of hematite under Al-substitution. The adsorption amount of hematite for Pb2+ increased from 3.92 to 9.74 mmol/kg at pH 5.0 and 20 µmol/L initial Pb2+ concentration with increasing Al content. More Fe vacancies may lead to a weaker adsorption energy (Ead) of hematite for Pb2+, while the Ead was enhanced at higher Al content. The adsorption affinity (logKPb) of bidentate Pb complexes slightly increased while that of tridentate Pb complexes decreased with increasing Al content due to the presence of ≡ AlOH-0.5 and ≡ Fe2AlO-0.5 sites. Tridentate Pb complexes were dominant species on the surface of pure hematite, while bidentate ones became more dominant with increasing Al content. The obtained model parameters and molecular scale information are of great importance for better describing and predicting the environmental fate of toxic heavy metals in terrestrial and aquatic environments.

Sertoli cells (SCs) act as highly polarized testicular cells that nutritionally support multiple stages of germ cell development. However, the gene regulation network in SCs for modulating germ cell development has yet to be fully understood. In this study, we report that heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins C (hnRNPC) in SCs are essential for germ cell development and male fertility. Conditional knockout of hnRNPC in mouse SCs leads to aberrant SC proliferation, disrupted cytoskeleton of SCs, and compromised blood-testis barrier function, resulting in loss of supportive cell function and, ultimately, defective spermiogenesis in mice. Further RNA-seq analyses revealed these phenotypes are likely caused by the dysregulated genes in hnRNPC-deficient SCs related to cell adhesion, cell proliferation, and apoptotic process. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that hnRNPC plays a critical role in SCs for maintaining the function of SCs and sustaining steady-state spermatogenesis in mice.

Bladder cancer, a prevalent malignant neoplasm of the urinary tract, exhibits escalating morbidity and mortality rates. Current diagnosis standards rely on invasive and costly cystoscopy and histopathology, underscoring the urgency for non-invasive, high-throughput, and cost-effective novel diagnostic techniques to ensure timely detection and standardized treatment. Recent years have witnessed the rise of exosome research in bladder cancer studies. Exosomes contain abundant bioactive molecules that can help elucidate the intricate mechanisms underlying bladder cancer pathogenesis and metastasis. Exosomes hold potential as biomarkers for early bladder cancer diagnosis while also serving as targeted drug delivery vehicles to enhance treatment efficacy and mitigate adverse effects. Furthermore, exosome analyses offer insights into the complex molecular signaling networks implicated in bladder cancer progression, revealing novel therapeutic targets. This review provides a comprehensive overview of prevalent exosome isolation techniques and highlights the promising clinical utility of exosomes in both diagnostic and therapeutic applications in bladder cancer management.

Nicotianamine (NA) plays a crucial role in transporting metal ions, including iron (Fe), in plants; therefore, NICOTIANAMINE SYNTHASE (NAS) genes, which control NA synthesis, are tightly regulated at the transcriptional level. However, the transcriptional regulatory mechanisms of NAS genes require further investigations. In this study, we determined the role of bZIP44 in mediating plant response to Fe deficiency stress by conducting transformation experiments and assays. bZIP44 positively regulated the response of Arabidopsis to Fe deficiency stress by interacting with MYB10 and MYB72 to enhance their abilities to bind at NAS2 and NAS4 promoters, thereby increasing NAS2 and NAS4 transcriptional levels and promote NA synthesis. In summary, the transcription activities of bZIP44, MYB10, and MYB72 were induced in response to Fe deficiency stress, which enhanced the interaction between bZIP44 and MYB10 or MYB72 proteins, synergistically activated the transcriptional activity of NAS2 and NAS4, promoted NA synthesis, and improved Fe transport, thereby enhancing plant tolerance to Fe deficiency stress.

Accumulating evidence has highlighted a strong association between gut microbiota and the occurrence, development, prevention, and treatment of atopic dermatitis (AD). The regulation of gut microbial dysbiosis by oral traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has garnered significant attention. In the treatment of AD, the TCM formula Qingre-Qushi Recipe (QRQS) has demonstrated clinical efficacy. However, both the therapeutic mechanisms of QRQS and its impact on gut microbiota remain unclear. Thus, our study aimed to assess the efficacy of QRQS and evaluate its influence on the composition and diversity of gut microbiota in AD animal models. First, we investigated the therapeutic effect of QRQS on AD using two animal models: filaggrin-deficient mice (Flaky tail, ft/ft) and MC903-induced AD-like mice. Subsequently, we explored its influence on the composition and diversity of gut microbiota. Our results demonstrated that QRQS treatment ameliorated the symptoms in both ft/ft mice and MC903-induced AD-like mice. It also reduced the levels of serum IgE and pro-inflammatory cytokines, including IL-1ß, IL-4, IL-5, IL-9, IL-13, IL-17A, and TNF-α. Furthermore, QRQS remarkably regulated gut microbiota diversity by increasing Lactobacillaceae and decreasing Bacteroidales. The inflammatory factors in peripheral serum of ft/ft mice showed a close correlation with gut microbiota, as determined using the Spearman correlation coefficient. Additionally, PICRUSt analysis revealed an enrichment in ascorbate and aldarate metabolism, fatty acid metabolism and biosynthesis, and propanoate metabolism in the QRQS group compared to the ft/ft group. Finally, we identified liquiritin as the primary active ingredient of QRQS using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry (UPLC-HRMS). Our findings revealed that QRQS improved AD-like symptoms and alleviated skin inflammation in ft/ft and MC903-induced mice. This suggests that modulating the gut microbiota may help elucidate its anti-inflammation activation mechanism, highlighting a new therapeutic strategy that targets the intestinal flora to prevent and treat AD.

Objective: This research aims to construct and authenticate a comprehensive predictive model for all-cause mortality, based on a multifaceted array of risk factors. Methods: The derivation cohort for this study was the Chinese Longitudinal Healthy Longevity Survey (CLHLS), while the Healthy Ageing and Biomarkers Cohort Study (HABCS) and the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS) were used as validation cohorts. Risk factors were filtered using lasso regression, and predictive factors were determined using net reclassification improvement. Cox proportional hazards models were employed to establish the mortality risk prediction equations, and the model's fit was evaluated using a discrimination concordance index (C-index). To evaluate the internal consistency of discrimination and calibration, a 10x10 cross-validation technique was employed. Calibration plots were generated to compare predicted probabilities with observed probabilities. The prediction ability of the equations was demonstrated using nomogram. Results: The CLHLS (mean age 88.08, n = 37074) recorded 28158 deaths (179683 person-years) throughout the course of an 8-20 year follow-up period. Additionally, there were 1384 deaths in the HABCS (mean age 86.74, n = 2552), and 1221 deaths in the CHARLS (mean age 72.48, n = 4794). The final all-cause mortality model incorporated demographic characteristics like age, sex, and current marital status, as well as functional status indicators including cognitive function and activities of daily living. Additionally, lifestyle factors like past smoking condition and leisure activities including housework, television viewing or radio listening, and gardening work were included. The C-index for the derivation cohort was 0.728 (95% CI: 0.724-0.732), while the external validation results for the CHARS and HABCS cohorts were 0.761 (95% CI: 0.749-0.773) and 0.713 (95% CI: 0.697-0.729), respectively. Conclusion: This study introduces a reliable, validated, and acceptable mortality risk predictor for older adults in China. These predictive factors have potential applications in public health policy and clinical practice.

The ingestion of fruits containing perfluoroalkyl acids (PFAAs) presents potential hazards to human health. This study aimed to fill knowledge gaps concerning the tissue-specific distribution patterns and bioaccumulation behavior of PFAAs and their isomers, alternatives, and precursors (collectively as per-/polyfluoroalkyl substances, PFASs) within citrus trees growing in contaminated fields. It also assessed the potential contribution of precursor degradation to human exposure risk of PFASs. High concentrations of total target PFASs (∑PFASstarget, 92.45-7496.16 ng/g dw) and precursors measured through the total oxidizable precursor (TOP) assay (130.80-13979.21 ng/g dw) were found in citrus tree tissues, and short-chain PFASs constituted the primary components. The total PFASs concentrations followed the order of leaves > fruits > branches, bark > wood, and peel > pulp > seeds. The average contamination burden of peel (∑PFASstarget: 57.75%; precursors: 71.15%) was highest among fruit tissues. Bioaccumulation factors (BAFs) and translocation potentials of short-chain, branched, or carboxylate-based PFASs exceeded those of their relatively hydrophobic counterparts, while ether-based PFASs showed lower BAFs than similar PFAAs in above-ground tissues of citrus trees. In the risk assessment of residents consuming contaminated citruses, precursor degradation contributed approximately 36.07% to total PFASs exposure, and therefore should not be ignored.

The response of soil autotrophs to anthropogenic activities has attracted increasing attention against the background of global change. Here, three entisol plots under different fertilizing regimes, including no fertilization (CK), manure (M), and a combined application of chemical fertilizer and manure (NPKM) were selected, and then the soil RubisCO (ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase) activity and cbbl (gene encoding the large subunit of RubisCO) composition were measured to indicate the activity and community of autotrophic bacteria, respectively. The results revealed that the RubisCO activity of CK showed no difference from that of M but was significantly higher than that of NPKM. The CK and M had the lowest and highest soil cbbl abundance, respectively. The α-diversity of soil cbbl-carrying bacteria showed no significant difference among these treatments, whereas they showed significantly different community structures of cbbl-carrying bacteria. Meanwhile, compared with CK, M had significantly lower abundances of bacterial species with the functions of nitrogen fixation (Azoarcus sp.KH32C) or detoxification (Methylibium petroleiphilum), indicating that manure application might have an inhibiting potential to some beneficial autotrophic bacterial species in this entisol.

Neuropeptides not only work through nervous system but some of them also work peripherally to regulate numerous physiological processes. They are important in regulation of numerous physiological processes including growth, reproduction, social behavior, inflammation, fluid homeostasis, cardiovascular function, and energy homeostasis. The various roles of neuropeptides make them promising candidates for prospective therapeutics of different diseases. Currently, NeuroPep has been updated to version 2.0, it now holds 11,417 unique neuropeptide entries, which is nearly double of the first version of NeuroPep. When available, we collected information about the receptor for each neuropeptide entry and predicted the 3D structures of those neuropeptides without known experimental structure using AlphaFold2 or APPTEST according to the peptide sequence length. In addition, DeepNeuropePred and NeuroPred-PLM, two neuropeptide prediction tools developed by us recently, were also integrated into NeuroPep 2.0 to help to facilitate the identification of new neuropeptides. This study was carried out to investigate the molecular mechanism of microRNA-26 (miR-26) targeting BNIP3 to mediate proliferation and apoptosis of multiple myeloma (MM) cells. The expression of miR-26 and BNIP3 in MM and normal tissues was detected by qRT-PCR and Western blot. According to the average expression of miR-26 and BNIP3, the patients were divided into 12 cases with high miR-26 expression group, 18 cases with low miR-26 expression group, 20 cases with BNIP3 high expression group, and 10 cases with BNIP3 low expression group. The correlation between the expression of miR-26 and BNIP3 and the clinicopathological characteristics of MM patients was compared and analyzed. The effect of up-regulation of miR-26 expression and BNIP3 overexpression on the proliferation of multiple myeloma cells RPMI8226 was examined by MTT assay. Flow cytometry was used to detect the effect of miR-26 expression and BNIP3 overexpression on the apoptosis of RPMI8226 cells. The dual luciferase reporter assay validated the targeted regulation of miR-26 on BNIP3. The expression level of miR-26 in MM tissues was lower than that in normal tissues (P<0.05), and the expression level of BNIP3 in MM tissues was higher than that in normal tissues (P<0.05). miR-26 was closely related to clinical stage, M protein type and light chain type (P<0.05), while BNIP3 was closely related to M protein type and light chain type (P<0.05). After up-regulating miR-26 expression, cell viability was significantly decreased (P<0.05), apoptosis rate was significantly increased (P<0.05) Dual luciferase reporter experiments confirmed that miR-26 could target BNIP3 and negatively regulate the expression of BNIP3 (P<0.05). Overexpression of BNIP3 reversed the effect of up-regulation of miR-26 expression on proliferation and apoptosis of RPMI8226 cells. Up-regulation of miR-26 expression inhibits MM cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis by targeting BNIP3.

Purpose: To develop an UPLC-MS/MS method for the quantitative analysis of pentoxifylline in beagle dog plasma and apply it to a pharmacokinetic study of food effect. Methods: Sample separation was achieved using a Kinetex Phenyl-Hexyl column (50 × 2.1 mm, 1.7 µm) with a gradient elution program in 5.5 min after a simple protein precipitation with methanol. Using the mobile phase that made up by 0.2% formic acid and 5mM ammonium formate water (A) and methanol (B). Quantitation was carried out using the positive ionization mode with multiple reaction monitoring (MRM). A randomized, single-dose, two-period crossover study was conducted in six fasted or fed beagles that received 400 mg pentoxifylline sustained-release tablets (Brand name: Shuanling™, CSPC Pharmaceutical Group). WinNonlin® software was used to calculate pharmacokinetic parameters. Results: The linear calibration range was 2-1000 ng/mL (r2> 0.99). Both intra- and inter-batch precision were less than 6.27%, and the accuracy ranged from 88.65% to 97.18%. Pentoxifylline was readily absorbed in fasted and fed dogs administered a dose of 400 mg (tmax:1.54h vs 1.83h). Compared to the fasted group, the AUC0→t and Cmax in the fed group increased by 1.71-fold and 1.30-fold, respectively. In the fasted group, the AUC0→t and Cmax values were 4684.08 h•ng/mL and 2402.33 ng/mL, respectively. In the fed group, these values were 8027.75 h•ng/mL and 3119.67 ng/mL. The difference in AUC0-t between the fed and fasted group was statistically significant. Conclusion: The novel optimized UPLC-MS/MS assay is an effective tool for the determination of pentoxifylline and has been successfully applied in pharmacokinetic studies of pentoxifylline in beagle dogs. The administration of pentoxifylline sustained-release tablets with food significantly increased the area under the time curve, and it is recommended that they should be administered during or shortly after feeding.

BACKGROUND: Jueyin granules (JYG) is effective against psoriasis, but its utility components are not clear. Rutin is the main monomer of JYG, its therapeutic effect and mechanism on psoriasis need to be further clarified. PURPOSE: To explore the potential mechanisms of rutin on psoriasis through network pharmacology and experiments. METHODS: In vitro, cell viability was determined using the CCK8 assay, and inflammatory factors were identified using RT-qPCR. The hub genes and kernel pathways of action were identified by modular pharmacology analysis. In vivo, a BALB/c mice model of psoriasis was induced by Imiquimod (IMQ). The therapeutic effect and action pathway were detected through Western Blotting, RT-qPCR, histopathologic and immunohistochemical analysis. RESULTS: Rutin inhibited cell proliferation and expression of TNF-α and IL-6 in HaCaT cells. The hub genes include APP, INS, and TNF, while the kernel pathways contain the AGE-RAGE signaling pathway. In IMQ-induced psoriasis-like mice, rutin ameliorated skin lesions and inhibited cell proliferation. Rutin could attenuate inflammation by downregulating the AGE-RAGE signaling pathway. CONCLUSION: This study suggests that rutin can reduce IMQ-induced psoriasis like skin inflammation in mice, and regulation of AGE-RAGE signaling pathway may be one of its potential anti-inflammatory mechanisms. Rutin has a promising therapeutic use for the treatment of psoriasis.

In this study, four groups of lead(Pb) and cadmium(Cd) combined treatments with different concentration ratios were set up in Hailun black soil, Xianning brown-red soil, and Changwu Heilu soil, and wheat(Zhengmai 9023) was planted for a five-month pot experiment to analyze the Pb-Cd interaction behavior on heavy metal bioaccumulation in wheat under three soil-wheat systems. The low pH brown-red soil had the highest water-soluble Cd and Pb contents with significant Pb-Cd interactions in the soil, whereas the black soil with high organic matter and Heilu soil with high calcium carbonate content exhibited lower Cd and Pb activities. Among the three soils, wheat height and dry weight showed the poorest growth performance in the Heilu soil, but the wheat height increased by 2.68-8.49 cm compared with that in the control under the Pb-Cd combined treatment, whereas Pb-Cd interaction had the least effect on wheat height and dry weight in black soil and inhibited the growth of wheat in the brown-red soil. In the transport process of Cd or Pb in wheat, Pb-Cd interaction showed quite different effects in the three soil-wheat systems. Under the 125 mg·kg-1 and 250 mg·kg-1 Pb treatments, the Pb content in wheat grain planted in brown-red soil significantly increased by 73.2% and 19.1% with the addition of Cd, respectively, and therefore there was a synergistic effect between Pb and Cd. Under the 0.3 mg·kg-1 and 0.6 mg·kg-1 Cd treatments, the Cd content in wheat grains planted in black soil decreased by 51% and 33% with the addition of Pb, respectively; therefore, there was an antagonist effect between Pb and Cd. In the Heilu soil, a synergistic effect of Cd on Pb transport in wheat leaves was only observed under high Pb treatment. Therefore, pH and organic matter content were the key factors that determined the interaction behavior of Pb and Cd. The wheat food security risk of Pb and Cd combined pollution was higher than that of single metal pollution in acidic brown-red soil and lower in high organic matter black soil, whereas the interaction of Pb and Cd had little impact on the wheat food security risk of alkaline Heilu soil.
