Piezoelectric accurate actuation plays an important role in industrial applications. The intrinsic frequency of previous actuators is invariable. However, variable frequency can approach the range near the low-intrinsic-frequency and realize a high actuation capability. The frequency-variable linear and rotary motion (FVLRM) principle is proposed for rotor-blade-based two-degree-of-freedom driving. Inertial force is generated by frequency-variable piezoelectric oscillators (FVPO), the base frequency and vibration modes of which are adjustable by the changeable mass and position of the mass block. The variable-frequency principle of FVPO and the FVLRM are recognized and verified by the simulations and experiments, respectively. The experiments show that the FVLRM prototype moves the fastest when the mass block is placed at the farthest position and the prototype is at the second-order intrinsic frequencies of 42 Hz and 43 Hz, achieving a linear motion of 3.52 mm/s and a rotary motion of 286.9 mrad/s. The actuator adopts a lower operating frequency of less than 60 Hz and has the function of adjusting the natural frequency. It can achieve linear and rotational motion with a larger working stroke with 140 mm linear movement and 360° rotation.

Background: Transglutaminase 2 (TG2), a member of the transglutaminase family, also known as tissue transglutaminase, plays a fundamental role in cancer growth and progression. In this study, we aimed to comprehensively review the evidence of TG2 as a prognostic biomarker in solid tumors. Methods: PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane databases were searched for human studies with clearly described cancer types if they presented the relationship between TG2 expression and prognostic indicators from inception to February 2022. Two authors independently screened the eligible studies and extracted the relevant data. The association between TG2 and overall survival (OS), disease-free survival (DFS), and relapse-free survival (RFS) were described as hazard ratios (HR) and their corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Statistical heterogeneity was assessed using Cochrane Q-test and Higgins I-squared statistic. A sensitivity analysis was conducted by sequentially omitting the impact of each study. Publication bias was assessed by Egger's funnel plot. Results: A total of 2864 patients with various cancers from 11 individual studies were enrolled. Results showed that elevated TG2 protein expression and mRNA expression predicted a shorter OS, with a combined HR of 1.93 (95% CI: 1.41-2.63) or HR of 1.95 (95% CI: 1.27-2.99), respectively. Moreover, data suggested that elevated TG2 protein expression was correlated with a shorter DFS (HR = 1.76, 95% CI: 1.36-2.29); whereas elevated TG2 mRNA expression was associated with a shorter DFS (HR = 1.71, 95% CI: 1.30-2.24). Conclusions: Our meta-analysis indicated that TG2 might serve as a promising biomarker of cancer prognosis.

The effects of different antibiotic treatment regimens on intestinal function and flora distribution in children with extraintestinal infectious diseases are explored. A total of 150 cases of extraintestinal infectious diseases admitted to our hospital from January 2021 to January 2022 and 50 healthy subjects during the same period were selected for the study. These 150 children were randomly divided into cephalosporin group, piperacillin group, and combined group and were successively treated with ceftazidime, piperacillin, and two drug combination regimens. The efficacy of the drug, intestinal microflora, intestinal mucosal barrier function, and incidence of antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) were compared among the different groups. The experimental results showed that ceftazidime combined with piperacillin can effectively improve the intestinal health of children with extraintestinal infectious diseases but destroy the microecological environment of intestinal flora, affect the intestinal mucosal barrier function, and increase the risk of AAD.

BACKGROUND: Several automated urine sediment analyzers have been introduced to clinical laboratories. Automated microscopic pattern recognition is a new technique for urine particle analysis. We evaluated the analytical and diagnostic performance of the UriSed automated microscopic analyzer and compared with manual microscopy for urine sediment analysis. METHODS: Precision, linearity, carry-over, and method comparison were carried out. A total of 600 urine samples sent for urinalysis were assessed using the UriSed automated microscopic analyzer and manual microscopy. RESULTS: Within-run and between-run precision of the UriSed for red blood cells (RBC) and white blood cells (WBC) were acceptable at all levels (CV < 20%). Within-run and between-run imprecision of the UriSed testing for cast, squamous epithelial cells (EPI), and bacteria (BAC) were good at middle level and high level (CV < 20%). The linearity analysis revealed substantial agreement between the measured value and the theoretical value of the UriSed for RBC, WBC, cast, EPI, and BAC (r > 0.95). There was no carry-over. RBC, WBC, and squamous epithelial cells with sensitivities and specificities were more than 80% in this study. CONCLUSIONS: There is substantial agreement between the UriSed automated microscopic analyzer and the manual microscopy methods. The UriSed provides for a rapid turnaround time.
