RESUMO

In this paper, the effect of ultrasonic treatment on the oral processing characteristics of Mianning ham was investigated. A sensory evaluation team of 10 evaluators with food professional background was involved in food mastication and dough collection. Oral processing analysis of ultrasonically treated hams was performed using particle distribution analysis, Headspace Solid-Phase Microextraction Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (SPME-GC-MS), electronic nose, and dynamic dominant sensory attribute testing. The results showed that compared with the control group, the chewing time and the number of chewing times of the ultrasonically treated hams during oral processing were significantly increased, the salivary content in the ham eating dough was significantly reduced, the types and contents of flavor substances were significantly increased, and the ultrasonic treatment significantly reduced the dominant organoleptic attributes such as saltiness and sourness of the Mianning hams. This paper takes Mianning ham bolus as the research object, analyzes the influence of ultrasonic treatment on the flavor perception of Mianning ham, and provides a theoretical basis for the optimization of ham back-end processing technology.

RESUMO

The realization of the all-electrical manipulation of perpendicular magnetization switching is essential for next-generation information storage technologies and spintronic devices. Current-induced spin-orbit torque (SOT) has attracted tremendous research interest. However, this approach usually relies on external magnetic field to achieve deterministic switching, which greatly limits SOT devices moving toward practical applications. Here, we report the measurement of SOT from the [Pt/Au] multilayer with composition gradient along the thickness direction. The multilayer exhibits a much larger SOT efficiency than pure Pt, and current-induced field-free magnetization switching has been realized in Co/[Pt/Au] heterostructures. Anomalous Hall resistance loop shift measurements indicate that the [Pt/Au] multilayer can produce spin current with z-direction polarization. Moreover, the results of the control experiments show that the Pt/Au interface is the primary cause of the z-direction polarized spin current for triggering field-free switching, whereas the compositional gradient effect is peripheral. We speculate that the field-free switching originates from the synergetic interface effect and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. Our work not only paves the way for SOT devices toward practical application but also provides novel insights into the mechanisms governing current-induced deterministic perpendicular magnetization switching.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Schizophrenia patients frequently present with structural and functional abnormalities of the ventral striatum (VS). METHODS: we examined basal activation state and functional connectivity (FC) in four subregions of the bilateral ventral striatum: left inferior ventral striatum (VSi_L), left superior ventral striatum(VSs_L), right inferior ventral striatum(VSi_R), and right superior ventral striatum(VSs_R). Resting-state functional magnetic resonance images were obtained from 62 schizophrenia patients (SCH), 57 bipolar disorder (BD) patients, and 26 healthy controls (HCs). RESULTS: The schizophrenia group exhibited greater fALFF in bilateral VS subregions compared to BD and HC groups as well as greater FC between the bilateral VSi and multiple brain regions, including the thalamus, putamen, posterior cingulate gyrus (PCC), frontal cortex and caudate. Moreover, the fALFF values of the bilateral ventral striatum were positively correlated with the severity of positive symptoms. We also found the functional connectivity between the bilateral inferior ventral striatum and some brain regions aforementioned were positively correlated with the severity of negative symptoms. CONCLUSION: These findings confirm a crucial contribution of ventral striatum dysfunction, especially of the bilateral VSi in schizophrenia. Functionally dissociated regions of the ventral striatum are differentially disturbed in schizophrenia.

RESUMO

The accurate estimation of source extent using magnetoencephalography (MEG) is important for the study of preoperative functional localization in epilepsy. Conventional source imaging techniques tend to produce diffuse or focused source estimates that fail to capture the source extent accurately. To address this issue, we propose a novel method called the two-stage Champagne approach (TS-Champagne). TS-Champagne divides source extent estimation into two stages. In the first stage, the Champagne algorithm with noise learning (Champagne-NL) is employed to obtain an initial source estimate. In the second stage, spatial basis functions are constructed from the initial source estimate. These spatial basis functions consist of potential activation source centers and their neighbors, and serve as spatial priors, which are incorporated into Champagne-NL to obtain a final source estimate. We evaluated the performance of TS-Champagne through numerical simulations. TS-Champagne achieved more robust performance under various conditions (i.e., varying source extent, number of sources, signal-to-noise level, and correlation coefficients between sources) than Champagne-NL and several benchmark methods. Furthermore, auditory and median nerve stimulation experiments were conducted using a 31-channel optically pumped magnetometer (OPM)-MEG system. The validation results indicated that the reconstructed source activity was spatially and temporally consistent with the neurophysiological results of previous OPM-MEG studies, further demonstrating the feasibility of TS-Champagne for practical applications.

RESUMO

Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is a noninvasive imaging technique used in neuroscience and clinical research. The source estimation of MEG involves solving a highly underdetermined inverse problem, which requires additional constraints to restrict the solution space. Traditional methods tend to obscure the extent of the sources. However, an accurate estimation of the source extent is important for studying brain activity or preoperatively estimating pathogenic regions. To improve the estimation accuracy of the extended source extent, the spatial constraint of sources is employed in the Bayesian framework. For example, the source is decomposed into a linear combination of validated spatial basis functions, which is proved to improve the source imaging accuracy. In this work, we further construct the spatial properties of the source using the diagonal covariance bases (DCB), which we summarize as the source imaging method SI-DCB. In this approach, specifically, the covariance matrix of the spatial coefficients is modeled as a weighted combination of diagonal covariance basis functions. The convex analysis is used to estimate noise and model parameters under the Bayesian framework. Extensive numerical simulations showed that SI-DCB outperformed five benchmark methods in accurately estimating the location and extent of patch sources. The effectiveness of SI-DCB was verified through somatosensory stimulation experiments performed on a 31-channel OPM-MEG system. The SI-DCB correctly identified the source area where each brain response occurred. The superior performance of SI-DCB suggests that it can provide a template approach for improving the accuracy of source extent estimations under a sparse Bayesian framework.

RESUMO

As the population ages, cognitive impairment leading to dementia and related disorders presents an increasingly significant societal burden. Transcranial alternating current stimulation emerges as a potential noninvasive treatment, yet remains an area of ongoing research. Using the Science Citation Index Expanded within the Web of Science Core Collection database, we identified 144 relevant articles spanning from 1965 to December 1st, 2023. Analyzing these papers with tools like 6.2.R5Citespace and 1.6.20VOS viewer revealed gamma frequency as the predominant stimulus (32), followed by theta (19), alpha (11), delta (2), beta (3), and others (32). This topic was relatively novel, showing an upward trend, albeit with gaps in some countries. Significant contributions were observed, particularly from authors in the USA, Germany, and Italy. Brain connectivity and oscillation stood out as the primary research subjects, with electroencephalography being the most widely used tool to detect underlying mechanisms. Our findings suggest promising applications of transcranial alternating current stimulation, particularly 40 Hz-gamma, in cognitive impairment among older adults, highlighting the need for further investigation using multimodal cognitive assessment tools and rigorous clinical research.

RESUMO

This report describes the LuCl3/B(C6F5)3 cocatalyzed reductive deoxygenation of 67 ketones, aldehydes, alcohols, and ethers to alkanes under mild conditions. The strategy tolerates reactive amino, hydroxyl, nitro, halogen, vinyl, and ester functional groups, and the results demonstrate rare chemoselective deoxygenation of α,ß-unsaturated ketones. Isotopic labeling experiments, control experiments, and derivatization studies are used to elucidate the reaction mechanism.

RESUMO

Source estimation in magnetoencephalography (MEG) involves solving a highly ill-posed problem without a unique solution. Accurate estimation of the time course and spatial extent of the source is important for studying the mechanisms of brain activity and preoperative functional localization. Traditional methods tend to yield small-amplitude diffuse or large-amplitude focused source estimates. Recently, the structured sparsity-based source imaging algorithm has emerged as one of the most promising algorithms for improving source extent estimation. However, it suffers from a notable amplitude bias. To improve the spatiotemporal resolution of reconstructed sources, we propose a novel method called the source imaging method based on spatial smoothing and edge sparsity (SISSES). In this method, the temporal dynamics of sources are modeled using a set of temporal basis functions, and the spatial characteristics of the source are represented by a first-order Markov random field (MRF) model. In particular, sparse constraints are imposed on the MRF model residuals in the original and variation domains. Numerical simulations were conducted to validate the SISSES. The results demonstrate that SISSES outperforms benchmark methods for estimating the time course, location, and extent of patch sources. Additionally, auditory and median nerve stimulation experiments were performed using a 31-channel optically pumped magnetometer MEG system, and the SISSES was applied to the source imaging of these data. The results demonstrate that SISSES correctly identified the source regions in which brain responses occurred at different times, demonstrating its feasibility for various practical applications.

RESUMO

This study examines the associations between speaking accuracy and fluency among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners and emotional intelligence (EI), creative thinking (CT), and academic enthusiasm (AE). Quantitative data was used in a thorough analysis that was carried out utilizing a cross-sectional design. Three hundred and twenty EFL learners were chosen as a sample using a multi-stage cluster sampling technique. The creativity questionnaire by Abedi, the EI questionnaire by Schutte et al. and the AE questionnaire by Fredricks et al. were all completed by the participants. Quantitative data analysis was conducted using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 24.0. The results showed a strong positive association between better speaking accuracy and fluency and greater levels of CT, EI, and AE. More precisely, learners with greater EI were able to control their emotions better, which improved their ability to speak clearly and fluently. Speaking performance was improved by those with higher CT because they showed improved problem-solving abilities and linguistic originality. High AE was also associated with better language practice and competence due to higher desire and involvement. These findings imply that encouraging CT, EI, and AE in language learning settings can greatly improve learners' speaking ability. To better understand the impact of other elements on speaking proficiency, future research should look into motivation, self-esteem, and learning methodologies.

RESUMO

Psychedelics, as a class of potent psychoactive substances, significantly alter sensory perception and mood, thereby profoundly impacting cognition. Increasing evidence indicates that psychedelics can facilitate individual social function and rapidly and sustainably improve symptoms of moderate and severe depression. The growing interest in psychedelics as potential treatments for depression has led to a substantial increase in related publications; however, the overall quantity and quality of these works remain unclear. To address this issue, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of literature on psychedelic drugs for depression published between 2004 and October 2023. Our study meticulously collected 710 publications, allowing for a comprehensive analysis of bibliographic elements such as annual publication trends, authorship, country of origin, institutional affiliations, journals, and keywords. By visualizing trends, emerging frontiers, popular topics, author collaborations, and influential factors in the field of psychedelics for depression, we have enhanced our understanding of advancements in this area. On this basis, we assert that the regulation of psychedelic drugs is necessary, but it should not hinder the scientific research progress.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Ultrasound-stimulated microbubble (USMB) therapy has proven efficacy of targeting tumor vasculature and enhancing the effect of radiation in tumor xenografts. In this investigation, we studied whether this treatment enhances the sensitivity of cervical cancer to radiation. METHODS: Human cervical cancer (ME-180 and SiHa) cells were treated with USMB or exposed to radiation (0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 Gy) or radiation (8 Gy) in combination with USMB. Clone formation assay and CCK-8 assay were used to analyze the proliferation capacity of cells. Apoptosis and DNA double-strand breaks were detected using flow cytometry and immunofluorescence staining of gamma-H2AX (γ-H2AX), respectively. Matrigel tubule formation was performed to evaluate the angiogenesis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells. In xenograft model of SiHa cells, tumor tissue expression of CD31 was detected by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: USMB and radiation synergistically restrained the growth of ME-180 and SiHa cells. USMB promoted radiation-induced apoptosis by enhancing the levels of proapoptotic proteins. Furthermore, USMB enhanced radiation-induced γ-H2AX foci to induce DNA double-strand breaks in cervical cancer cells. USMB in combination with radiation reduced the angiogenic capacity of endothelial cells in vitro. Moreover, USMB strengthened the inhibitory effect of radiation on tumor growth and angiogenesis in xenograft models. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, USMB exposure effectively enhanced the destructive effect of radiation on cervical cancer, suggesting that USMB might be a promising sensitizer of radiotherapy to treat cervical cancer.

RESUMO

Mianning ham is a traditional meat product in China. In this experiment, solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography (SPME-GC-MS) and high-throughput sequencing were used to study the effects of adding Penicillium lanosum and adding the mixture of Penicillium lanosum and Staphylococcus equorum on the flavor and microbiology of Mianning ham. The results showed that the addition of the ferments resulted in an increase in the abundance of both the dominant bacterial phylum (Thick-walled Bacteria) and the dominant fungal phylum (Ascomycota). The variety of volatile flavor substances and key flavor substances increased after adding fermentation agents. A free amino acid analysis showed that hams from the Penicillium lanosum and Staphylococcus equorum group had significantly higher umami flavor amino acids than the control group and Penicillium lanosum group. Therefore, inoculation with Penicillium lanosum and Staphylococcus equorum favored the dominant bacteria and flavor of Mianning ham.

RESUMO

With increased corporate liquidity and debt repayment pressure, CSR's "insurance" role has received more attention. We conducted a comprehensive empirical analysis of 4988 listed companies in the Chinese context during 2011-2020. Our research has three findings: First, the initial increase in CSR will lead to a rise in default risk. However, once the CSR level exceeds a specific threshold, the default risk decreases as the CSR rises. We tested the robustness of the results by replacing the explanatory and the explained variables and taking into account the lag time effect, which proved the reliability of our research conclusions. Second, the mediation analysis shows financing constraints play an important mediating role in this inverted U-shaped relationship. On the left side of the U-shape, CSR performance intensifies financing constraints, while on the right side, increasing CSR reduces financing constraints. Finally, we confirm heterogeneity in the impact of CSR on the default risk of different enterprises' ownership and size. Our study complements the current literature on the effects of CSR on default risk. We are making policymakers and stakeholders aware of the importance of mandatory CSR disclosure.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Oxylipins including lipoxin A4 (LXA4) facilitate the resolution of inflammation and possess analgesic properties by inhibiting macrophage infiltration and transient receptor potential (TRP) protein expression. Yu-Xue-Bi Tablet (YXB) is a traditional Chinese patent medicine used to relieve inflammatory pain. Our previous research has shown that the analgesic effect of YXB is related to inhibiting peripheral inflammation and regulating macrophage infiltration, but the mechanism is not yet clear. The purpose of this study is to explore the mechanisms of YXB on mice models with Complete Freund's Adjuvant (CFA)-induced inflammatory pain from the perspective at the resolution of inflammation. METHODS: Mechanical allodynia thresholds and heat hypersensitivity were measured using the Von Frey test and the hot plate test respectively. The open field test and the tail suspension test were employed to measure anxiety and depressive behaviors respectively. The expression of CD68+ and the proportion of F4/80+CD11b+ cells were measured by immunofluorescence staining and flow cytometry. The expression of transient receptor potential ankyrin 1(TRPA1) was measured by immunofluorescence staining and western blotting. Oxylipins omics analysis provided quantitative data on oxylipins in the paws, and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to measure the levels of LXA4 there. Immunofluorescence staining was used to perform the expression of Leukotriene A4 hydroxylase (LTA4H) in the paws of mice. The impact of injecting the formyl peptide receptor 2(FPR2) antagonist WRW4 and the TRPA1 agonist AITC into the left paws was observed, focusing on the expression of mechanical allodynia thresholds, the expression of CD68+, TRPA1 in the paws, and Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in the L5 spinal dorsal horn. RESULTS: YXB elevated mechanical allodynia thresholds, alleviated heat hypersensitivity and anxiety and depressive behaviors in CFA mice. It significantly reduced the number of CD68+ and proportion of F4/80+CD11b+ within the paws, thereby decreasing macrophage infiltration. Additionally, it diminished the expression of TRPA1 in the paws and TRPV1 in the DRG, leading to an inhibition of peripheral sensitization. Through quantitative analysis, it was found that YXB could modulate DHA-derived oxylipins and LXA4. ELISA results indicated that YXB elevated the levels of LXA4 and inhibited the expression of LAT4H in the paws. Furthermore, the pro-resolution and analgesic effects of YXB were hindered after administration of the FPR2 antagonist. Compared with the AITC group, YXB showed no significant improvement in anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. CONCLUSIONS: YXB can regulate the oxylipins of paws in CFA mice to promote the resolution of inflammation. The LXA4-FPR2-TRPA1 pathway is a key mechanism for the resolution of inflammation and analgesic effects.

RESUMO

AIMS/INTRODUCTION: Women with gestational diabetes mellitus are at high risk for adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. The study aimed to evaluate the performance of the triglyceride-glucose index in predicting the risk of developing adverse outcomes in women with gestational diabetes mellitus. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective multicenter cohort study included 8,808 pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus in two grade-A tertiary hospitals in China during 2018-2022. The triglyceride-glucose index was defined as ln [triglyceride (mg/dL) × fasting blood glucose (mg/dL)/2]. Significant adverse gestational diabetes mellitus outcomes were chosen by generalized linear models as the main outcomes. Multivariable logistic regression models evaluated their association with the triglyceride-glucose index. Areas under the receiver operating characteristic curves predicted adverse pregnancy outcomes. The prediction efficiency was validated in the sensitivity analysis dataset and validation cohort. RESULTS: The triglyceride-glucose index was associated with preeclampsia, severe preeclampsia, preterm birth, placenta accreta spectrum, and macrosomia before and after adjusting for confounding factors (P < 0.05). The predictive performance of the triglyceride-glucose index was relatively moderate. Incorporating the triglyceride-glucose index into the baseline clinical risk model improved the area under curves for the diagnosis of preeclampsia (0.749 [0.714-0.784] vs 0.766 [0.734-0.798], P = 0.033) and macrosomia (0.664 [0.644-0.685] vs 0.676 [0.656-0.697], P = 0.002). These predictive models exhibited good calibration and robustness. CONCLUSIONS: The triglyceride-glucose index is positively associated with preeclampsia, severe preeclampsia, preterm birth, placenta accreta spectrum, and macrosomia and is useful for the early prediction and prevention of adverse outcomes in women with gestational diabetes mellitus.

RESUMO

Postoperative complications of radical gastrectomy seriously affect postoperative recovery and require accurate risk prediction. Therefore, this study aimed to develop a prediction model specifically tailored to guide perioperative clinical decision-making for postoperative complications in patients with gastric cancer. A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients who underwent radical gastrectomy at the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University between April 2022 and June 2023. A total of 166 patients were enrolled. Patient demographic characteristics, laboratory examination results, and surgical pathological features were recorded. Preoperative abdominal CT scans were used to segment the visceral fat region of the patients through 3Dslicer, a 3D Convolutional Neural Network (3D-CNN) to extract image features and the LASSO regression model was employed for feature selection. Moreover, an ensemble learning strategy was adopted to train the features and predict postoperative complications of gastric cancer. The prediction performance of the LGBM (Light Gradient Boosting Machine), XGB (XGBoost), RF (Random Forest), and GBDT (Gradient Boosting Decision Tree) models was evaluated through fivefold cross-validation. This study successfully constructed a model for predicting early complications following radical gastrectomy based on the optimal algorithm, LGBM. The LGBM model yielded an AUC value of 0.9232 and an accuracy of 87.28% (95% CI, 75.61-98.95%), surpassing the performance of other models. Through ensemble learning and integration of perioperative clinical data and visceral fat radiomics, a predictive LGBM model was established. This model has the potential to facilitate individualized clinical decision-making and the early recovery of patients with gastric cancer post-surgery.

RESUMO

Magnetic fields provide a valuable method to manipulate atomic energy levels and interactions in quantum precision measurements, but achieving precise measurements requires collaboration between the magnetic field system and the optical detection system. We propose a magnetic field system that incorporates a fast-switching magnetic field and an alternating magnetic field. Specifically, we enhance the switching speed by making structural improvements during the switching operation. An independent control approach is employed to reduce the switching time caused by electromagnetic induction across the coil using multilayer coils. The results demonstrate an inverse correlation between the rise and fall times of the magnetic field switch and the number of independently stacked coil layers, indicating the possibility of achieving further improvements in switching speed through structural enhancements. The system developed here has considerable potential for application to diverse quantum systems.

RESUMO

Cobalt-catalyzed borylative reduction of azobenzenes using pinacolborane is developed. The simple cobalt chloride catalyst and reaction conditions make this protocol attractive for hydrazobenzene synthesis. This borylative reduction shows good functional group compatibility and can be readily scaled up to the gram scale. Preliminary mechanistic studies clarified the proton source of the hydrazine products. This cobalt-catalyzed azobenzene borylative reaction provides a practical protocol to prepare synthetically useful diborylated hydrazines.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The exploration of various neuroimaging techniques have become focal points within the field of neuroscience research. Magnetoencephalography based on optically pumped magnetometers (OPM-MEG) has shown significant potential to be the next generation of functional neuroimaging with the advantages of high signal intensity and flexible sensor arrangement. In this study, we constructed a 31-channel OPM-MEG system and performed a preliminary comparison of the temporal and spatial relationship between magnetic responses measured by OPM-MEG and blood-oxygen-level-dependent signals detected by functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during a grasping task. METHODS: For OPM-MEG, the ß-band (15-30 Hz) oscillatory activities can be reliably detected across multiple subjects and multiple session runs. To effectively localize the inhibitory oscillatory activities, a source power-spectrum ratio-based imaging method was proposed. This approach was compared with conventional source imaging methods, such as minimum norm-type and beamformer methods, and was applied in OPM-MEG source analysis. Subsequently, the spatial and temporal responses at the source-level between OPM-MEG and fMRI were analyzed. RESULTS: The effectiveness of the proposed method was confirmed through simulations compared to benchmark methods. Our demonstration revealed an average spatial separation of 10.57 ± 4.41 mm between the localization results of OPM-MEG and fMRI across four subjects. Furthermore, the fMRI-constrained OPM-MEG localization results indicated a more focused imaging extent. CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, the performance exhibited by OPM-MEG positions it as a potential instrument for functional surgery assessment.
