RESUMO

Pediculosis is one of the most frequently observed parasitic diseases. Despite the progress of civilization it is still a significant sanitary-epidemiological and social problem. It not only causes skin lesions, persistent pruritus or secondary bacterial infections, but it also causes social isolation and negative milieu reactions. Disease is often prevalent in all countries of the world, with infection more easily occurring in poor and neglected environments. Official statistics do not reflect the range of the problem because approved registration systems do not include the majority of cases.

RESUMO

Sarcoidosis is a systemic disorder in which cutaneous findings are often prominent. These may be polymorphous to the extent that sarcoidosis may mimic many other cutaneous diseases. We describe a 56-year-old woman with involvement of the skin, eyes, bones, heart, and lung. After an initial presentation 10 years earlier of erythema nodosum with bilateral hilar adenopathy, there were three types of cutaneous changes: subcutaneous, nut-sized palpable nodules localized along the upper and lower extremities, annular plaques on the shins, and erythema nodosum-like palpable and slightly tender nodules. It is very unusual to have all three types of skin lesions, especially the erythema nodosum-like histologically specific cutaneous ones in this setting, which is what prompted this report.

RESUMO

We describe an unusual case of mucous cysts in 3 fingers of both hands in a 52-year old woman, working as a cashier. The cysts were localized over the joints, between distal interphalangeal joint and the proximal nail fold. It is possible that the job of the patient (i. e. counting money with both hands, repeated straightening and bending of distal phalanxes in the palms) could have influenced the development of numerous lesions. Radiological examination revealed no symptoms of osteopathic changes, only the growth of soft tissue, without any abnormalities in the bone structure. Contact tests showed no allergy to nickel. The cryotherapy and removing mucus form the DMCs caused complete recovery of our patient.
