RESUMO

A visible-light-mediated decarboxylative coupling reaction of phenylacetic acid derivatives, featuring sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) as the oxidant, has been developed. This metal-free method allows for the synthesis of a series of bibenzyl derivatives and complex all-carbon skeletons, facilitating efficient utilization and degradation of the greenhouse gas SF6.

RESUMO

Histoplasmosis is a systemic mycosis caused by the dimorphic fungus in the genus Histoplasma. Histoplasmosis is overlooked in China. This study aims to provide an epidemiological and clinical update on histoplasmosis in China by literature review. We reviewed cases of histoplasmosis reported in recent 11 years and described a case of histoplasmosis-triggered hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) in an immunocompetent patient. A total of 225 cases of histoplasmosis diagnosed in China between 2012 and 2022 were involved in this study, compared with 300 cases reviewed from 1990 to 2011, an increasing number of cases of histoplasmosis have been diagnosed in the last 11 years. The majority of cases of histoplasmosis were autochthonous cases, mainly from provinces Sichuan (56/225, 24.9%), Hunan (50/225, 22.2%), Guangdong (31/225, 13.8%), and Yunnan (24/225, 10.7%). Higher incidence (52.5%, 53/99) of histoplasmosis occurred in immunocompetent patients which is similar to those from the previous 21 years, and the prevalence of the disease did not vary highly over time. Of note, the number of histoplasmosis cases is increasing, and the geographic distribution is shifting southwards over time. Improved awareness is critically important for informing clinical practice in China.

CONTEXT: The safety and efficacy of nutritional management for pressure injuries (PIs) have been the subjects of ongoing interest. Some evidence demonstrated that nutrition is essential for skin and tissue viability, supporting tissue repair for healing the pressure injury. OBJECTIVE: This investigation aimed to systematically review clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for the nutritional management of PIs and furnish an evidence map to assess research trends and CPG gaps. METHODS: The PubMed, Embase, and guidelines databases, and society websites were searched for CPGs for the nutritional management of PIs. The basic recommendations for the nutritional management of PIs, method quality, and reporting CPGs quality were identified and imported into Excel. Four researchers independently elucidated each CPG's quality via the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research & Evaluation (AGREE) II instrument and the Reporting Items for Practice Guidelines in Healthcare (RIGHT) checklist. All bubble charts were generated using Excel software. RESULTS: This review included 12 CPGs with a combined 23 recommendations. The nutrition screening and assessment were summarized on the basis of the PI recommendations for 6 major items, 12 items on nutrition management, and 3 on PI education. The assessed CPGs had mixed quality, and the highest score ± standard deviation based on the clarity of presentation was 83.46 ± 7.62, whereas the lowest mean score based on AGREE II applicability was 53.31 ± 16.90. Field 1 (basic information) in the RIGHT checklist had the greatest reporting rate (68.06%), whereas field 5 (review and quality assurance) had the lowest CPGs quality (41.67%). CONCLUSION: This investigation furnishes an evidence map and provides new perspectives on the CPGs for the nutritional management of PIs. However, the CPGs included still need improvement, especially in the applicability and editorial independence domains.

RESUMO

A weakly coordinated carboxylate-directed palladium-catalyzed atroposelective C-H alkynylation method for the development of novel axially chiral styrene-type carboxylic acids is disclosed. This transformation exhibits good yields (up to 85%), excellent enantiocontrol (up to 99% ee), and mild conditions. Notably, the synthetic utility of the resulting alkynyl carboxylic acid derivatives was demonstrated by various derivatizations as well as their potential as chiral ligands in asymmetric C-H activations.

RESUMO

A novel method by a one-step introduction of axial chirality and sterically hindered group has been developed for facile synthesis of axially chiral styrene-type carboxylic acids. With the palladium-catalyzed C-H arylation and olefination of readily available cinnamic acid established, this transformation demonstrated excellent yield, excellent stereocontrol (up to 99% yield and 99% ee), and broad substrate scope under mild conditions. The axially chiral styrene-type carboxylic acids produced have been successfully applied to Cp*CoIII-catalyzed asymmetric C-H activation reactions, indicating their potential as chiral ligands or catalysts in asymmetric synthesis.

RESUMO

Enantioselective synthesis of tetrahydroisoquinolines bearing an all-carbon quaternary stereogenic center, was achieved via asymmetric C-H activation with high enantioselectivities (up to 93% ee). Fair substrate tolerance was indicated throughout the scope investigation and no evident loss of enantioselectivity was exhibited in late-stage derivatization. This study provides incentives for the construction of diverse chiral isoquinoline derivatives, which are prevalent among pharmaceuticals, natural products, etc.

As an alternative approach to traditional C-H activation that often involved harsh conditions, and vicinal or primary C-H functionalization, radical relay offers a solution to these long-held problems. Enabled by 1,n (n = 5, 6)-hydrogen atom transfer (HAT), we use a most prevalent moiety, alkene, as the precursor to an sp3 C-centered radical to promote selective cleavage of inert C(sp3)-H bonds for the generation of azidotrifluoromethylated molecules. Mild conditions, broad scope and excellent regioselective control (>20 : 1) are observed in the reactions. Deuterium labelling studies disclose the kinetic characteristics of the transformations and verify a direct 1,n-HAT pathway. The key to this C-centered radical relay is that iron plays a dual role as a radical initiator and terminator to incorporate the azide functionality through radical oxidation via azido-ligand-transfer. The methods and the later derivatization promise expeditious synthesis of CF3-containing organic azides, γ-lactam and triazoles that are widely used in designing new fluorescent tags and functional materials.
