RESUMO

Highly efficient degradation of antibiotics is a huge challenge due to the extremely stable molecules and the potential for biological resistance. However, conventional degradation methods are limited to lower degradation rate, higher energy consumption and secondary pollution. Herein, we report a new Cu-based metal-organic framework (MOF), featuring classical planar trinuclear [Cu3(µ3-O)]4+ clusters within the pores. The presence of the rich open metal sites and the large pore ratio, as well as the high catalytic activity of Cu2+ ions, are conducive to boosting the degradation of various antibiotics (>95%) under the activation of peroxymonosulfate. Remarkably, this is the first MOF to achieve such exceptional catalytic performance under neutral and even alkaline conditions, which exceeds those of most reported materials. Mechanism investigation demonstrates that multiple active species were produced and promoted the degradation synergistically during the advanced oxidation processes.

Background: There is controversy regarding sex differences in short-term mortality in acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD). Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the impact of sex differences on 30-day operative mortality after ATAAD surgery and to determine if other covariates modify the association. Methods: Consecutive patients (N = 5670) with surgically repaired ATAAD were identified from the multicenter China 5A study. The primary outcome was operative mortality. The age dependency was modeled using a cubic spline curve. Results: There were 1,503 females (26.5%) and 4,167 males (73.5%). Females were older and had a lower percentage of comorbidities compared with males. Females had higher mortality compared to males (10.2% vs 8.2%, P = 0.019); however, there was no difference after propensity analyses (adjusted OR: 1.334 [95% CI: 0.918-1.938]). There was an interaction with sex and age (P interaction = 0.035): older age was associated with higher odds of operative mortality among females (OR: 1.045 [95% CI: 1.029-1.061]) compared with males (OR: 1.025 [95% CI: 1.016-1.035]). The risk of mortality for males and females appears to diverge at 55 years of age (P interaction = 0.019): females under 55 years of age had similar odds to males (OR: 0.852 [95% CI: 0.603-1.205]) but higher odds when over 55 years (OR: 1.420 [95% CI: 1.096-1.839]) compared to males. Conclusions: Under the age of 55 years, females have similar odds of operative mortality compared with males; however, over the age of 55 years females have higher odds than males. Duplication is a foundation of molecular evolution and a driver of genomic and complex diseases. Here, we develop a genome editing tool named Amplification Editing (AE) that enables programmable DNA duplication with precision at chromosomal scale. AE can duplicate human genomes ranging from 20 bp to 100 Mb, a size comparable to human chromosomes. AE exhibits activity across various cell types, encompassing diploid, haploid, and primary cells. AE exhibited up to 73.0% efficiency for 1 Mb and 3.4% for 100 Mb duplications, respectively. Whole-genome sequencing and deep sequencing of the junctions of edited sequences confirm the precision of duplication. AE can create chromosomal microduplications within disease-relevant regions in embryonic stem cells, indicating its potential for generating cellular and animal models. AE is a precise and efficient tool for chromosomal engineering and DNA duplication, broadening the landscape of precision genome editing from an individual genetic locus to the chromosomal scale.

There is limited literature on current human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination in the Asia-Pacific region. This integrative literature review was conducted to describe HPV vaccination programs in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. Program descriptions, recommendations, f unding, and coverage data were extracted. Twenty-five citations were included. As of 2022, eight of the 10 areas of interest include HPV in their national immunization program (NIP) for school-aged girls; full implementation in Indonesia is expected in 2023 whereas Vietnam's NIP does not include HPV. Singapore also includes HPV vaccination for women (18-26 years). None of the HPV vaccination programs include males. In most areas (n = 7), programs include only one vaccine option. While female HPV NIPs are present in the Asia-Pacific region, opportunities remain to strengthen NIPs in broader populations (e.g., males, catch-up cohorts) to expand public health impact and provide gender equity in HPV vaccination.

Purpose: As lifestyle changes, there is an increasing number of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients in China. The present study aimed to investigate the predictive value of the lipid accumulation product (LAP) for T2DM in Chinese elderlies over 65 years. Methods: The present cross-sectional study recruited 2,092 adults from communities of Pudong New Area of Shanghai. Questionnaires were filled and anthropometric and laboratory examinations were completed by all participants. The predictive value of different risk factors for T2DM was analyzed using the receiver operating characteristics curve (ROC). Results: LAP was found to be closely related to T2DM (adjusted OR: 0.613, 95% CI: 0.581-0.645). Fasting plasma glucose (FPG), LAP, and urea nigrogen (UN) were associated with T2DM in females, whereas FPG, LAP, neck circumference (NC) were associated with T2DM in males. When the cut-off value was 33.8, LAP displayed the optimal predictive performance. A gender difference was observed with an LAP of 37.95 demonstrating the best predictive value in males (AUC = 0.604, 95% CI: 0.577-0.652) and 60.2 in females (AUC = 0.617, 95% CI: 0.574-0.660), respectively. Conclusion: LAP is more significantly associated with the risk of T2DM in elderlies than FPG, UN or NC, and it serves as a strong predictor of T2DM. However, this is impacted by FPG and neck circumference to a certain extent. Future large-scale studies are needed to confirm its efficacy in predicting diabetes.

BACKGROUND: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death globally. In addition, 20% to 40% of the patients with CHD have comorbid mental health issues such as anxiety or depression, affecting the prognosis and quality of life (QoL). Mobile health (mHealth) interventions have been developed and are widely used; however, the evidence for the effects of mHealth interventions on QoL, anxiety, and depression in patients with CHD is currently ambiguous. OBJECTIVE: In this study, we aimed to assess the effects of mHealth interventions on QoL, anxiety, and depression in patients with CHD. METHODS: We searched the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, CINAHL, Web of Science, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang databases from inception to August 12, 2023. Eligible studies were randomized controlled trials that involved patients with CHD who received mHealth interventions and that reported on QoL, anxiety, or depression outcomes. We used the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool for randomized trials to evaluate the risk of bias in the studies, ensuring a rigorous and methodologically sound analysis. Review Manager (desktop version 5.4; The Cochrane Collaboration) and Stata MP (version 17.0; StataCorp LLC) were used to conduct the meta-analysis. The effect size was calculated using the standardized mean difference (SMD) and its 95% CI. RESULTS: The meta-analysis included 23 studies (5406 participants in total) and showed that mHealth interventions significantly improved QoL in patients with CHD (SMD 0.49, 95% CI 0.25-0.72; Z=4.07; P<.001) as well as relieved their anxiety (SMD -0.46, 95% CI -0.83 to -0.08; Z=2.38; P=.02) and depression (SMD -0.34, 95% CI -0.56 to -0.12; Z=3.00; P=.003) compared to usual care. The subgroup analyses indicated a significant effect favoring the mHealth intervention on reducing anxiety and depressive symptoms compared to usual care, especially when (1) the intervention duration was ≥6 months (P=.04 and P=.001), (2) the mHealth intervention was a simple one (only 1 mHealth intervention was used) (P=.01 and P<.001), (3) it was implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic (P=.04 and P=.01), (4) it was implemented in low- or middle-income countries (P=.01 and P=.02), (5) the intervention focused on mental health (P=.01 and P=.007), and (6) adherence rates were high (≥90%; P=.03 and P=.002). In addition, comparing mHealth interventions to usual care, there was an improvement in QoL when (1) the mHealth intervention was a simple one (P<.001), (2) it was implemented in low- or middle-income countries (P<.001), and (3) the intervention focused on mental health (P<.001). CONCLUSIONS: On the basis of the existing evidence, mHealth interventions might be effective in improving QoL and reducing anxiety and depression in patients with CHD. However, large sample, high-quality, and rigorously designed randomized controlled trials are needed to provide further evidence. Bacteriophages play an essential role in shaping the diversity and metabolism of bacterial communities. Marine Roseobacter group is an abundant heterotrophic bacterial group that is involved in many major element cycles, especially carbon and sulfur. Members of the Roseobacter CHUG (Clade Hidden and Underappreciated Globally) lineage are globally distributed and are activated in pelagic marine environments. In this study, we isolated and characterized a phage, CRP-810, that infects the CHUG strain FZCC0198. The genome of CRP-810 was dissimilar to those of other known phages. Additionally, 251 uncultured viral genomes (UViGs) closely related to CRP-810 were obtained from the uncultivated marine viral contig databases. Comparative genomic and phylogenetic analyses revealed that CRP-810 and these related UViGs exhibited conserved genome synteny, representing a new phage family with at least eight subgroups. Most of the CRP-810-type phages contain an integrase gene, and CRP-810 can be integrated into the host genome. Further analysis revealed that three CRP-810-type members were prophages found in the genomes of marine SAR11, Poseidonocella, and Sphingomonadaceae. Finally, viromic read-mapping analysis showed that CRP-810-type phages were globally distributed and displayed distinct biogeographic patterns related to temperature and latitude. Many members with a lower G + C content were mainly distributed in the trade station, whereas members with a higher G + C content were mainly distributed in polar and westerlies station, indicating that the niche differentiation of phages was subject to host adaptation. Collectively, these findings identify a novel phage family and expand our understanding of phylogenetic diversity, evolution, and biogeography of marine phages. IMPORTANCE: The Roseobacter CHUG lineage, affiliated with the Pelagic Roseobacter Cluster (PRC), is widely distributed in the global oceans and is active in oligotrophic seawater. However, knowledge of the bacteriophages that infect CHUG members is limited. In this study, a CHUG phage, CRP-810, that infects the CHUG strain FZCC0198, was isolated and shown to have a novel genomic architecture. In addition, 251 uncultured viral genomes closely related to CRP-810 were recovered and included in the analyses. Phylogenomic analyses revealed that the CRP-810-type phages represent a new phage family containing at least eight genus-level subgroups. Members of this family were predicted to infect various marine bacteria. We also demonstrated that the CRP-810-type phages are widely distributed in global oceans and display distinct biogeographic patterns related to latitude. Collectively, this study provides important insights into the genomic organization, diversity, and ecology of a novel phage family that infect ecologically important bacteria in the global ocean.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the distribution characteristics of Rh phenotype in pregnant and postpartum women in Chongqing area, and to explore the clinical significance of Rh phenotype in pregnant and postpartum women and the feasibility of Rh phenotype compatible blood transfusion. METHODS: The ABO blood group and Rh phenotype of 65 161 pregnant and postpartum women were detected by microcolumn gel method, and 48 122 males in the same period were taken as controls. The data were analyzed by Chi-square test. RESULTS: There were 112 870 cases (99.64%) of RhD+ in 113 283 samples. In RhD+ cases, CCDee (48.39%) and CcDEe (32.88%) were the main phenotypes. The first case of D-- phenotype in Chongqing area was detected. 413 cases (0.36%) of RhD- were detected, with ccdee (52.78%) and Ccdee (33.41%) as the main phenotypes. Compared with RhD- group, RhD+ group showed statistically significant difference in Rh phenotype distribution (P < 0.01). Among 65 161 maternal samples, the positive rate of 5 antigens of Rh blood group from high to low was D > e > C > c > E, and there was no significant difference compared with male samples (P >0.05). There was no significant difference in the distribution of Rh phenotype between males and pregnant/postpartum women, as well as between pregnant/postpartum women with different ABO blood groups (P >0.05). In pregnant and postpartum women, there was no significant difference in distribution of Rh phenotype among the normal pregnancy population, the population with adverse pregnancy history, the population using human assisted reproductive technology (ART) and the population with infertility (P >0.05). There was no significant difference in the distribution of Rh phenotype between the 4 populations mentioned above and the inpatients in the local general Grade A hospitals and the blood donors (P >0.05). In RhD positive pregnant and postpartum women, the probability of finding compatible blood for CcDEe phenotype was 100%, the probability of finding compatible blood for CCDee, CcDee and CCDEe phenotypes was 45%-60%, the probability of finding compatible blood for ccDEE, ccDEe and CcDEE phenotypes was 5%-10%, and the probability of finding compatible blood for other phenotypes was lower than 0.5%. The supply of blood with CCDee and ccDEE phenotypes can meet the compatible transfusions requirements of 7 Rh phenotypes in more than 99% of patients. CONCLUSION: Rh phenotype detection should be carried out for pregnant and postpartum women, and it is feasible to carry out Rh phenotype-matched or compatible blood transfusion for pregnant and postpartum women who need blood transfusion.

Honeybees are an indispensable pollinator in nature with pivotal ecological, economic, and scientific value. However, a full-length transcriptome for Apis mellifera, assembled with the advanced third-generation nanopore sequencing technology, has yet to be reported. Here, nanopore sequencing of the midgut tissues of uninoculated and Nosema ceranae-inoculated A. mellifera workers was conducted, and the full-length transcriptome was then constructed and annotated based on high-quality long reads. Next followed improvement of sequences and annotations of the current reference genome of A. mellifera. A total of 5,942,745 and 6,664,923 raw reads were produced from midguts of workers at 7 days post-inoculation (dpi) with N. ceranae and 10 dpi, while 7,100,161 and 6,506,665 raw reads were generated from the midguts of corresponding uninoculated workers. After strict quality control, 6,928,170, 6,353,066, 5,745,048, and 6,416,987 clean reads were obtained, with a length distribution ranging from 1 kb to 10 kb. Additionally, 16,824, 17,708, 15,744, and 18,246 full-length transcripts were respectively detected, including 28,019 nonredundant ones. Among these, 43,666, 30,945, 41,771, 26,442, and 24,532 full-length transcripts could be annotated to the Nr, KOG, eggNOG, GO, and KEGG databases, respectively. Additionally, 501 novel genes (20,326 novel transcripts) were identified for the first time, among which 401 (20,255), 193 (13,365), 414 (19,186), 228 (12,093), and 202 (11,703) were respectively annotated to each of the aforementioned five databases. The expression and sequences of three randomly selected novel transcripts were confirmed by RT-PCR and Sanger sequencing. The 5' UTR of 2082 genes, the 3' UTR of 2029 genes, and both the 5' and 3' UTRs of 730 genes were extended. Moreover, 17,345 SSRs, 14,789 complete ORFs, 1224 long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and 650 transcription factors (TFs) from 37 families were detected. Findings from this work not only refine the annotation of the A. mellifera reference genome, but also provide a valuable resource and basis for relevant molecular and -omics studies.

The abnormal fluctuation of temperature in vivo usually reflects the progression of inflammatory diseases. Noninvasive, real-time, and accurate monitoring and imaging of temperature variation in vivo is advantageous for guiding the early diagnosis and treatment of disease, but it remains difficult to achieve. Herein, we developed a temperature-activated near-infrared-II fluorescence (NIR-II FL) and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) nanoprobe for long-term monitoring of temperature changes in rat arthritis and timely assessment of the status of osteoarthritis. The thermosensitive polymer bearing NIR-II FL dye was grafted onto the surface of nanoporous core-satellite gold nanostructures to form the nanoprobe, wherein the nanoprobe contains NIR-II FL and Raman reference signals that are independent of temperature change. The ratiometric FL1150/FL1550 and S1528/S2226 values of the nanoprobe exhibited a reversible conversion with temperature changes. The nanoprobe accurately distinguishes the temperature variations in the inflamed joint versus the normal joint in vivo by ratiometric FL and SERS imaging, allowing for an accurate diagnosis of inflammation. Meanwhile, it can continuously monitor fluctuations in temperature over an extended period during the onset and treatment of inflammation. The tested temperature change trend could be used as an indicator for early diagnosis of inflammation and real-time evaluation of therapeutic effects.

RATIONALE: Intestinal T-cell lymphomas are exceedingly rare diseases. Intestinal T-cell lymphoma NOS, as a "wastebasket" category, is difficult to diagnosis. Endoscopy can identify abnormal mucosa in most patients at a reasonably early stage. Therefore, it is crucial to increase the understanding of endoscopists in terms of the endoscopic characteristics of ITCL. PATIENT CONCERNS: A 74-year-old male alone with wasting as the major complaint, had multiple polypoid lesions in the large intestine. The patient then had endoscopic care. DIAGNOSES: Only 1 polypoid lesion on white-light endoscopy in the sigmoid colon was pathologically diagnosed as intestinal T-cell lymphomas, not otherwise specified (ITCL-NOS). INTERVENTIONS: The patient underwent intensity-reduced CHOP therapy. OUTCOMES: The patient is still with controlled disease but developed chemotherapy-related side effects. LESSONS: In the individual with unexplained anemia and waste, endoscopy should not be delayed. For each of polypoid lesion on white-light endoscopy, the endoscopist need to remain cautious, because every lesion in the same patient can exhibit the independence of histopathological features. Meanwhile, we suggest that endoscopists should routinely observe the terminal ileum, even take biopsy samples if necessary.

This study investigates the role of USP47, a deubiquitinating enzyme, in the tumor microenvironment and its impact on antitumor immune responses. Analysis of TCGA database revealed distinct expression patterns of USP47 in various tumor tissues and normal tissues. Prostate adenocarcinoma showed significant downregulation of USP47 compared to normal tissue. Correlation analysis demonstrated a positive association between USP47 expression levels and infiltrating CD8+ T cells, neutrophils, and macrophages, while showing a negative correlation with NKT cells. Furthermore, using Usp47 knockout mice, we observed a slower tumor growth rate and reduced tumor burden. The absence of USP47 led to increased infiltration of immune cells, including neutrophils, macrophages, NK cells, NKT cells, and T cells. Additionally, USP47 deficiency resulted in enhanced activation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTLs) and altered T cell subsets within the tumor microenvironment. These findings suggest that USP47 plays a critical role in modulating the tumor microenvironment and promoting antitumor immune responses, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target in prostate cancer.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This review assesses the effectiveness and safety of light therapy, particularly green light therapy, as an emerging non-pharmacological treatment for chronic migraine (CM). It aims to highlight alternative or complementary approaches to traditional pharmacological remedies, focusing the need for diverse treatment options. RECENT FINDINGS: Despite sensitivity to light being a defining feature of migraine, light therapy has shown promising signs in providing substantial symptom relief. Studies have provided insights into green light therapy's role in managing CM. These studies consistently demonstrate its efficacy in reducing the frequency, severity, and symptoms of migraines. Additional benefits observed include improvements in sleep quality and reductions in anxiety. Importantly, green light therapy has been associated with minimal side effects, indicating its potential as a suitable option for migraine sufferers. In addition to green light, other forms of light therapy, such as infrared polarized light, low-level laser therapy (LLLT), and intravascular irradiation of blood (ILIB), are also being explored with potential therapeutic effects. Light therapies, especially green light therapy, are recognized as promising, safe, and non-pharmacological interventions for treating CM. They have been shown to be effective in decreasing headache frequency and enhancing the overall quality of life. However, current studies, often limited by small sample sizes, prompt more extensive clinical trials to better understand the full impact of light therapies. The exploration of other light-based treatments, such as LLLT and ILIB, warrants further research to broaden the scope of effective migraine management strategies.

Background: Social Frailty is a significant public health concern affecting the elderly, particularly with the global population aging rapidly. Older adults with social frailty are at significantly higher risk of adverse outcomes such as disability, cognitive impairment, depression, and even death. In recent years, there have been more and more studies on social frailty, but no bibliometrics has been used to analyze and understand the general situation in this field. Therefore, by using CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Bilioshiny software programs, this study aims to analyze the general situation of the research on social frailties of the older adults and determine the research trends and hot spots. Methods: A bibliometric analysis was conducted by searching relevant literature on the social frailty of the older adults from 2003 to 2022 in the Web of Science core database, using visualization software to map publication volume, country and author cooperation networks, keyword co-occurrences, and word emergence. Results: We analyzed 415 articles from 2003 to 2022. Brazil has the highest number of articles in the field of social frailty of the older adults, and the United States has the highest number of cooperative publications. Andrew MK, from Canada, is the most published and co-cited author, with primary research interests in geriatric assessment, epidemiology, and public health. "Social Vulnerability," "Health," "Frailty," "Mortality," and "Older Adult" are among the research hotspots in this field. "Dementia," "Alzheimer's disease," "Population," and "Covid-19" are emerging research trends in social frailty among the older adults. Conclusion: This scientometric study maps the research hotspots and trends for the past 20 years in social frailty among the older adults. Our findings will enable researchers to better understand trends in this field and find suitable directions and partners for future research.

Chemotherapy is the principal treatment for advanced cancer patients. However, chemotherapeutic resistance, an important hallmark of cancer, is considered as a key impediment to effective therapy in cancer patients. Multiple signaling pathways and factors have been underscored to participate in governing drug resistance. Posttranslational modifications, including ubiquitination, glycosylation, acetylation and phosphorylation, have emerged as key players in modulating drug resistance in gynecological tumors, such as ovarian cancer, cervical cancer and endometrial cancer. In this review article, we summarize the role of ubiquitination in governing drug sensitivity in gynecological cancers. Moreover, we describe the numerous compounds that target ubiquitination in gynecological cancers to reverse chemotherapeutic resistance. In addition, we provide the future perspectives to fully elucidate the mechanisms by which ubiquitination controls drug resistance in gynecological tumors, contributing to restoring drug sensitivity. This review highlights the complex interplay between ubiquitination and drug resistance in gynecological tumors, providing novel insights into potential therapeutic targets and personalized treatment strategies to overcome the bottleneck of drug resistance.

Neuronal avalanches, a critical state of network self-organization, have been widely observed in electrophysiological records at different signal levels and spatial scales of the brain, which has significant influence on information transmission and processing in the brain. In this paper, the collective behavior of neuron firing is studied based on Leaky Integrate-and-Fire model and we induce spike-timing-dependent plasticity (STDP) to update the connection weight through competition between adjacent neurons in different network topologies. The result shows that STDP can facilitate the synchronization of the network and increase the probability of large-scale neuron avalanche obviously. Moreover, both the structure of STDP and network connection density can affect the generation of avalanche critical states, specifically, learning rate has positive correlation effect on the slope of power-law distribution and time constant has negative correction on it. However, when we the increase of heterogeneity in network, STDP can only has obvious promotion in synchrony under suitable level of heterogeneity. And we find that the process of long-term potentiation is sensitive to the adjustment of time constant and learning rate, unlike long-term depression, which is only sensitive to learning rate in heterogeneity network. It is suggested that presented results could facilitate our understanding on synchronization in various neural networks under the effect of STDP learning rules.

BACKGROUND: Thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) is a minimally invasive technique used to treat type B aortic dissections. Left subclavian artery (LSA) reconstruction is required when treating patients with involvement of LSA. The best antiplatelet therapy after LSA reconstruction is presently uncertain. METHODS: This study retrospectively analyzed 245 type B aortic dissection patients who underwent left subclavian artery revascularization during TEVAR. Out of 245 patients, 159 (64.9%) were in the single antiplatelet therapy (SAPT) group, receiving only aspirin, and 86 (35.1%) were in the dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) group, receiving aspirin combined with clopidogrel. During the 6-month follow-up, primary endpoints included hemorrhagic events (general bleeding and hemorrhagic strokes), while secondary endpoints comprised ischemic events (left upper limb ischemia, ischemic stroke, and thrombotic events), as well as death and leakage events. Both univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed on hemorrhagic and ischemic events, with the Kaplan-Meier method used to generate the survival curve. RESULTS: During the six-month follow-up, the incidence of hemorrhagic events in the DAPT group was higher (8.2% vs. 30.2%, P < 0.001). No significant differences were observed in ischemic events, death, or leakage events among the different antiplatelet treatment schemes. Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that DAPT (HR: 2.22, 95% CI: 1.07-4.60, P = 0.032) and previous chronic conditions (HR:3.88, 95% CI: 1.24-12.14, P = 0.020) significantly affected the occurrence of hemorrhagic events. Chronic conditions in this study encompassed depression, vitiligo, and cholecystolithiasis. Carotid subclavian bypass (CSB) group (HR:0.29, 95% CI: 0.12-0.68, P = 0.004) and single-branched stent graft (SBSG) group (HR:0.26, 95% CI: 0.13-0.50, P < 0.001) had a lower rate of ischemic events than fenestration TEVAR (F-TEVAR). Survival analysis over 6 months revealed a lower risk of bleeding associated with SAPT during hemorrhagic events (P = 0.043). CONCLUSIONS: In type B aortic dissection patients undergoing LSA blood flow reconstruction after synchronous TEVAR, the bleeding risk significantly decreases with the SAPT regimen, and there is no apparent ischemic compensation within 6 months. Patients with previous chronic conditions have a higher risk of bleeding. The CSB group and SBSG group have less ischemic risk compared to F-TEVAR group.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of home-based cardiac telerehabilitation based on wearable electrocardiogram or heart rate monitoring devices in patients with heart disease. METHODS: We searched eight electronic databases under the guidance of Cochrane Handbook and PRISMA recommendations. RESULTS: The meta-analysis included data from 14 articles (15 RCTs) representing 1314 participants. A significant improvement in left ventricular ejection fraction [MD = 2.12, 95 % CI (1.21, 3.04), P < 0.001], 6-minute walk distance [MD = 40.00, 95 % CI (21.72, 58.29), P < 0.001] and peak oxygen intake [MD = 2.24, 95 % CI (1.38, 3.10), P < 0.001] were observed in the home-based cardiac telerehabilitation group. But it had no difference in anxiety [SMD = -0.83, 95 % CI (-1.65, -0.02), P = 0.05] and depression [SMD = -0.59, 95 % CI (-1.26, 0.09), P = 0.09]. Subgroup analyses revealed that interventions of no less than 3 months improved anxiety [SMD = -1.11, 95 % CI (-2.05, -0.18), P = 0.02] and depression [SMD = -1.01, 95 % CI (-1.93, -0.08), P = 0.03]. CONCLUSION: Home-based cardiac telerehabilitation based on wearable electrocardiogram or heart rate monitoring devices has a positive effect on cardiac function. Long-term (≥ 3 months) cardiac rehabilitation might benefit individuals suffering from anxiety or depression.

Introduction: Algorithmic decision-making systems are widely used in various sectors, including criminal justice, employment, and education. While these systems are celebrated for their potential to enhance efficiency and objectivity, they also pose risks of perpetuating and amplifying societal biases and discrimination. This paper aims to provide an indepth analysis of the types of algorithmic discrimination, exploring both the challenges and potential solutions. Methods: The methodology includes a systematic literature review, analysis of legal documents, and comparative case studies across different geographic regions and sectors. This multifaceted approach allows for a thorough exploration of the complexity of algorithmic bias and its regulation. Results: We identify five primary types of algorithmic bias: bias by algorithmic agents, discrimination based on feature selection, proxy discrimination, disparate impact, and targeted advertising. The analysis of the U.S. legal and regulatory framework reveals a landscape of principled regulations, preventive controls, consequential liability, self-regulation, and heteronomy regulation. A comparative perspective is also provided by examining the status of algorithmic fairness in the EU, Canada, Australia, and Asia. Conclusion: Real-world impacts are demonstrated through case studies focusing on criminal risk assessments and hiring algorithms, illustrating the tangible effects of algorithmic discrimination. The paper concludes with recommendations for interdisciplinary research, proactive policy development, public awareness, and ongoing monitoring to promote fairness and accountability in algorithmic decision-making. As the use of AI and automated systems expands globally, this work highlights the importance of developing comprehensive, adaptive approaches to combat algorithmic discrimination and ensure the socially responsible deployment of these powerful technologies.

BACKGROUND: To discuss the current status of reproductive concerns and its correlation with fear of recurrence and level of family support in patients of childbearing age with gynecologic malignancies. METHODS: A convenient sampling method was used to enroll 188 patients with gynecologic malignancies in Nanjing Maternity and Child Health Care Hospital, Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital, General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, and Haian Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Affiliated to Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine from September 2022 to April 2023. Patients were assessed using general information questionnaire, Reproductive Concerns After Cancer Scale (RCAC), Fear of Cancer Recurrence Inventory (FCRI) questionnaire, and Perceived Social Support-Family (PSS-FA) Scale. RESULTS: Among patients of childbearing age with gynecologic malignancies, the total RCAC score was (54.35 ± 7.52), indicating a moderate level of reproductive concerns. Patients scored (20.98 ± 4.51) on FCRI, implying a moderate level of fear of recurrence. The PSS-FA score was (9.57 ± 2.76), denoting a moderate level of family support. The total score and each dimensional score of RCAC were positively correlated with FCRI total score (P < 0.05), and negatively correlated with PSS-FA total score (P < 0.05). Fear of recurrence, family support level, number of children, educational background, treatment modality, and fertility intention were influencing factors for reproductive concerns in patients of childbearing age with gynecologic malignancies (all P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The reproductive concerns, fear of recurrence and family support are all at moderate levels in patients of childbearing age with gynecologic malignancies, and reproductive concerns are positively correlated with fear of recurrence and negatively correlated with family support.
