RESUMO

Selective catalytic oxidation of the hazardous DMF exhaust gas presents a significant challenge in balancing oxidation activity and products selectivity (CO, NOx, N2, etc.). It is found that Cu/H-MOR demonstrates superior performance for DMF oxidation compared to CuO on other supports (γ-Al2O3, HY, ZSM-5) in terms of product selectivity and stability. The geometric and electronic structures of CuO active sites in Cu/H-MOR have been regulated by CeO2 promoter, leading to an increase in the ratio of active CuO (highly dispersed CuO and Cu+ specie). As a result, the oxidation activity and stability of the Cu/H-MOR catalyst were enhanced for DMF selective catalytic oxidation. However, excessive CuO or CeO2 content led to decreased N2 selectivity due to over-high oxidation activity. It is also revealed that Ce3+ species, active CuO species, and surface acid sites play a critical role in internal selective catalytic reduction reaction during DMF oxidation. The 10Cu-Ce/H-MOR (1/4) catalyst exhibited both high oxidation activity and internal selective catalytic reduction activity due to its abundance of active CuO specie as well as Ce3+ species and surface acid sites. Consequently, the 10Cu-Ce/H-MOR (1/4) catalyst demonstrated the widest temperature window for DMF oxidation with high N2 selectivity. These findings emphasize the importance of surface active sites modification for DMF selective catalytic oxidation.

RESUMO

GeSe, an analogue of SnSe, shows promise in exhibiting exceptional thermoelectric performance in the Pnma phase. The constraints on its dopability, however, pose challenges in attaining optimal carrier concentrations and improving ZT values. This study demonstrates a crystal structure evolution strategy for achieving highly doped samples and promising ZTs in GeSe via LiBiTe2 alloying. A rhombohedral phase (R3m) can be stabilized in the GeSe-LiBiTe2 system, further evolving into a cubic (Fm3̅m) phase with a rising temperature. The band structures of GeSe-LiBiTe2 in the rhombohedral and cubic phases feature a similar multiple-valley energy-converged valence band of L and Σ bands. The observed high carrier concentration (∼1020 cm-3) reflects the effective convergence of these bands, enabling a high density-of-states effective mass and an enhanced power factor. Moreover, a very low lattice thermal conductivity of 0.6-0.5 W m-1 K-1 from 300 to 723 K is achieved in 0.9GeSe-0.1LiBiTe2, approaching the amorphous limit value. This remarkably low lattice thermal conductivity is related to phonon scattering from point defects, planar vacancies, and ferroelectric instability-induced low-energy Einstein oscillators. Finally, a maximum ZT value of 1.1 to 1.3 at 723 K is obtained, with a high average ZT value of over 0.8 (400-723 K) in 0.9GeSe-0.1LiBiTe2 samples. This study establishes a viable route for tailoring crystal structures to significantly improve the performance of GeSe-related compounds.

RESUMO

Thermoelectric materials are highly promising for waste heat harvesting. Although thermoelectric materials research has expanded over the years, bismuth telluride-based alloys are still the best for near-room-temperature applications. In this work, a ≈38% enhancement of the average ZT (300-473 K) to 1.21 is achieved by mixing Bi0.4Sb1.6Te3 with an emerging thermoelectric material Sb2Si2Te6, which is significantly higher than that of most BiySb2-yTe3-based composites. This enhancement is facilitated by the unique interface region between the Bi0.4Sb1.6Te3 matrix and Sb2Si2Te6-based precipitates with an orderly atomic arrangement, which promotes the transport of charge carriers with minimal scattering, overcoming a common factor that is limiting ZT enhancement in such composites. At the same time, high-density dislocations in the same region can effectively scatter the phonons, decoupling the electron-phonon transport. This results in a ≈56% enhancement of the thermoelectric quality factor at 373 K, from 0.41 for the pristine sample to 0.64 for the composite sample. A single-leg device is fabricated with a high efficiency of 5.4% at ΔT = 164 K further demonstrating the efficacy of the Sb2Si2Te6 compositing strategy and the importance of the precipitate-matrix interface microstructure in improving the performance of materials for relatively low-temperature applications.

RESUMO

Resveratrol (RSV) is a natural polyphenol compound found in various plants that has been shown to have potential benefits for preventing aging and supporting cardiovascular health. However, the specific signal pathway by which RSV protects the aging heart is not yet well understood. This study aimed to explore the protective effects of RSV against age-related heart injury and investigate the underlying mechanisms using a D-galactose-induced aging model. The results of the study indicated that RSV provided protection against age-related heart impairment in mice. This was evidenced by the reduction of cardiac histopathological changes as well as the attenuation of apoptosis. RSV-induced cardioprotection was linked to a significant increase in antioxidant activity and mitochondrial transmembrane potential, as well as a reduction in oxidative damage. Additionally, RSV inhibited the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). Furthermore, the expression of toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), nuclear factor kappa-B p65 (NF-κB p65), and notch 1 protein were inhibited by RSV, indicating that inhibiting the Notch/NF-κB pathway played a critical role in RSV-triggered heart protection in aging mice. Moreover, further data on intestinal function demonstrated that RSV significantly increased short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in intestinal contents and reduced the pH value in the feces of aging mice. RSV alleviated aging-induced cardiac dysfunction through the suppression of oxidative stress and inflammation via the Notch/NF-κB pathway in heart tissue. Furthermore, this therapeutic effect was found to be associated with its protective roles in the intestine.

RESUMO

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To explore the relationships among post-stroke fatigue, hope and discharge readiness in stroke patients, and to determine whether hope mediates the relationship between post-stroke fatigue and discharge readiness. BACKGROUND: In stroke patients, inadequate discharge readiness has been found to correlate with higher readmission and mortality rates. Although previous qualitative studies have confirmed the impact of fatigue on discharge readiness, few studies explore the impact of post-stroke fatigue and hope on discharge readiness of stroke patients. Consequently, the current research on this relationship and its underlying mechanisms is still quite limited. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study. METHODS: Data were collected from 340 stroke patients. The research tools included demographic and disease characteristics, Discharge Readiness Assessment Scale for Stroke, Neurological Fatigue Index for Stroke and Herth Hope Index. The STROBE checklist was used to guide the presentation of this study. RESULTS: Discharge readiness was negatively correlated with post-stroke fatigue and positively correlated with hope. Additionally, post-stroke fatigue was negatively correlated with hope. Post-stroke fatigue had a direct negative effect on discharge readiness, and it can also generate indirect effects through hope. Hope was the partial mediator between post-stroke fatigue and discharge readiness, explaining 55.8% of the total effect. CONCLUSION: Discharge readiness of this population can be improved by reducing post-stroke fatigue and increasing hope. Therefore, effective management of post-stroke fatigue and hope will help improve discharge readiness. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: It is recommended that nursing staff should monitor the occurrence and development of post-stroke fatigue in stroke patients, dynamically evaluate the patient's level of hope, and pay attention to the important role of positive psychological qualities in the outcome of discharge. If medical staff can formulate corresponding intervention measures based on the influence path of discharge readiness, then the discharge readiness of stroke patients can be improved.

RESUMO

Evaluating vaccine-related research is critical to maximize the potential of vaccination programmes. The WHO Immunization and Vaccine-related Implementation Research Advisory Committee (IVIR-AC) provides an independent review of research that estimates the performance, impact and value of vaccines, with a particular focus on transmission and economic modelling. On 11-13 September 2023, IVIR-AC was convened for a bi-annual meeting where the committee reviewed research and presentations across eight different sessions. This report summarizes the background information, proceedings and recommendations from that meeting. Sessions ranged in topic from timing of measles supplementary immunization activities, analyses of conditions necessary to meet measles elimination in the South-East Asia region, translating modelled evidence into policy, a risk-benefit analysis of dengue vaccine, COVID-19 scenario modelling in the African region, therapeutic vaccination against human papilloma virus, the Vaccine Impact Modelling Consortium, and the Immunization Agenda 2030 vaccine impact estimates.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index has been proposed as a surrogate marker of insulin resistance. However, the relationship between the TyG index and central blood pressure (BP), has not been well studied in adults. METHODS: A total of 715 Chinese adult participants were enrolled in this study. Anthropometric and BP were assessed. The TyG index was calculated as ln[fasting triglycerides(mg/dL) × fasting glucose(mg/dL)/2]. Central BP was measured using SphygmoCor system. RESULTS: The participants were stratified into three groups based on the TyG index, and significant differences were observed in metabolic and cardiovascular parameters and the prevalence of hypertension among the groups. Both brachial (ß = 1.38, P = 0.0310; group highest vs. lowest, ß = 2.66, P = 0.0084) and aortic (ß = 2.38, P = 0.0002; group highest vs. lowest, ß = 3.96, P = 0.0001) diastolic BP were significantly and independently associated with the TyG index and increasing TyG index tertile. However, there was no independent association between the TyG index and systolic BP. A one-unit increase in the TyG index was associated with a 46% higher risk of hypertension (P = 0.0121), and compared with the lowest group, participants in the highest group had a 95% higher risk of hypertension (P = 0.0057). CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrates a significant and independent association between the TyG index and both brachial and aortic diastolic BP in Chinese adults. Furthermore, the TyG index was found to be an independent predictor of hypertension.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Singapore has completely banned e-cigarettes and the government's cautious stance against vaping has been consistent. Despite this, vaping appears to have gained popularity in Singapore, especially among younger people. With the heavy marketing of vaping products on social media, it is possible that such marketing, due to its cross-border nature, is reaching younger Singaporeans and driving changes in vaping-related perceptions or behaviours. This study examines their exposure to vaping-related content on social media, and whether such exposure is associated with more positive perceptions of vaping or e-cigarette ever use. METHODS: Analysis of cross-sectional survey data of 550 adult (age 21-40 years) Singaporeans recruited via convenience methods in May 2022, using descriptive statistics, bivariate analyses, and multiple linear and logistic regression models. RESULTS: 16.9% of participants reported they had ever used e-cigarettes. 18.5% of those who used social media recalled seeing vaping-related content on a social media platform in the past 6 months, mostly from influencers or friends, and on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and/or YouTube. Reporting exposure to such content was not associated with e-cigarette ever use. It was associated with having a more positive overall perception of vaping (ß=1.47; 95% CI: 0.17 to 2.78), although no significant difference was observed when examining only health-related perceptions. CONCLUSION: Even in a heavily regulated environment such as Singapore's, people appear to be exposed to vaping-related content on social media platforms and this exposure is, in turn, associated with more positive perceptions of vaping, but not e-cigarette ever use.

RESUMO

A stable anode-free lithium metal battery (AFLMB) is accomplished by the adoption of a facile fabricated amorphous antimony (Sb)-coated separator (SbSC). The large specific surface area of the separator elevates lithium (Li)-Sb alloy kinetic, improving Li wetting ability on pristine copper current collector (Cu). When tested with LiNi0.8 Mn0.1 Co0.1 O2 (NMC811) as cathode, the full cell with SbSC demonstrates low nucleation overpotential with compact, dendrite-free and homogeneous Li plating, and exhibits a notable lithium inventory retention rate (LIRR) of 99.8 % with capacity retention of 93.6 % after 60 cycles at 0.5 C-rate. Conversely, full cells containing pristine separator/Cu (i. e., SC) and pristine separator/Sb-coated current collector (i. e., SSbC) display poor cycling performances with low LIRRs. Density functional theory corroborates the nucleation behaviours observed during in-situ half-cell Li deposition. Functionalizing polymeric separator by metallic coating in AFLMB is a novel approach in improving the cycle life of an AFLMB by promoting homogeneous Li plating behavior. This innovative approach exemplifies a promising applicability for uniform Li-plating behavior to achieve a longer cycle life in AFLMB.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Colorectal neuroendocrine carcinoma is a relatively rare tumor, for which a prognosis prediction model is lacking. Based on the data from Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and Fujian Cancer Hospital, the study constructed and validated a prognostic nomogram to assess overall survival of patients with colorectal neuroendocrine carcinoma(CRNEC). METHODS: We extracted data of patients diagnosed with CRNEC from the SEER database. These patients were randomly divided into a training cohort(N = 1425) and an internal validation cohort(N = 612). Data of patients diagnosed with CRNEC in Fujian Cancer Hospital was collected as an external validation cohort(N = 54). A prognostic nomogram was established. The performance of the nomogram was assessed with ROC curve, C-index and calibration curve. Decision curve analysis(DCA) and ROC curve were used to compare the prediction efficacy of nomogram with the seventh edition of the TNM classification of the American Joint Commission of Cancer. RESULTS: Nine variables were identified as independent predictors. Nomogram were established by the nine variables. AUC of the nomogram in predicting 1-, 3- and 5-year OS were 0.900, 0.912 and 0.915 in training cohort, 0.900, 0.925 and 0.919 in internal validation cohort, 0.900, 0.903 and 0.928 in external validation cohort. C-index were 0.845, 0.854 and 0.837. Calibration curves overlapped well with reference lines. Compared with the AJCC TNM staging system, the nomogram performed more effectively. Patients classified into low-risk and high-risk groups by the nomogram scores and performed well in stratification. CONCLUSION: The prognostic nomogram established and validated in our study can accurately and effectively predict the prognosis of patients with CRNEC.

RESUMO

Carotenoids are essential for photosynthesis and photoprotection in photosynthetic organisms, which are widely used in food coloring, feed additives, nutraceuticals, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. Carotenoid biofortification in crop plants or algae has been considered as a sustainable strategy to improve human nutrition and health. However, the regulatory mechanisms of carotenoid accumulation are still not systematic and particularly scarce in algae. This article focuses on the regulatory mechanisms of carotenoid accumulation in plants and algae through regulatory factors (transcription factors and regulatory proteins), demonstrating the complexity of homeostasis regulation of carotenoids, mainly including transcriptional regulation as the primary mechanism, subsequent post-translational regulation, and cross-linking with other metabolic processes. Different organs of plants and different plant/algal species usually have specific regulatory mechanisms for the biosynthesis, storage, and degradation of carotenoids in response to the environmental and developmental signals. In plants and algae, regulators such as MYB, bHLH, MADS, bZIP, AP2/ERF, WRKY, and orange proteins can be involved in the regulation of carotenoid metabolism. And many more regulators, regulatory networks, and mechanisms need to be explored. Our paper will provide a basis for multitarget or multipathway engineering for carotenoid biofortification in plants and algae.

RESUMO

AIM: To evaluate the clinical significance of checking episcleral venous fluid wave (EVFW) during gonioscopy-assisted transluminal trabeculotomy (GATT) in patients with open angle glaucoma (OAG). METHODS: This retrospective case series study comprised 30 patients (45 eyes) with OAG underwent GATT. The location and extent of EVFW were examined and graded after intraoperative compression flushing of the anterior chamber angle during the operation. Patients were followed up for 1y. A complete success for surgery is defined as a postoperative intraocular pressure (IOP) <18 mm Hg without any anti-glaucoma medication. IOP<18 mm Hg with less than two anti-glaucoma medications is defined as qualified success, while the control of IOP requiring three anti-glaucoma medications is considered as unsuccess. RESULTS: The mean IOP was 35.38±7.16 mm Hg before surgery and 15.52±4.22 mm Hg 1y after surgery (P<0.01). The average number of anti-glaucoma medication was 2.8±1.2 (2-4) preoperation and 0.6±1.3 (0-3) 1y postoperation (P<0.01). The success rate of the operation was 93.33%. Complete success rate was 66.67%, qualified success rate was 26.67%, and 6.66% of unsuccessful cases required reoperation. EVFW of all cases was grade 2-4, and the percentages of grade 2, 3 and 4 were 33.33%, 40.0% and 26.67%, respectively. The distribution and percentage of EVFW were inferior (36%), nasal (28%), superior (20%), and temporal (16%). The EVFW grade of complete success patients was 3.4±0.6 (3-4), and that of qualified success patients was 2.6±1.0 (2-4). The larger the range of EVFW, the lower the IOP, and the better the IOP reduction effect. CONCLUSION: During GATT surgery, pressurized irrigation of anterior chamber to check EVFW can reduce the outflow resistance of aqueous humor and increase the effect of postoperative IOP. The range of EVFW is negatively correlated with postoperative IOP. Therefore, EVFW may be a valuable prognostic indicator for the success of GATT surgery.

RESUMO

Durability is still the main issue hindering the practical applications of superhydrophobic surfaces. In the case of superhydrophobic coatings, employing nanoparticles for constructing and retaining superhydrophobic surfaces without lowering the robustness is still a conundrum. Herein, inspired by concrete, which has a high filler portion and high robustness, we fabricated a superhydrophobic coating using a synthesized hydrophobic organic/inorganic hybrid resin and categorized micro/nano fillers with varying sizes. The hybrid resin improved the hydrophobicity and robustness of the coating. Also, by optimizing the content of categorized wearable (silica sand with varying sizes)/functional (aluminum nanoparticles)/low-surface-energy (PTFE) phases, the prepared superhydrophobic surfaces could achieve long abrasion distance coupled with a high retention rate. Also, the prepared sample retained its superhydrophobicity after abrasion by sandpaper (180 grit) for 10 m under a pressure as high as 22.5 kPa or 600 grit sandpaper for 12.8 m under the same pressure or when impacted by 1400 g sand particles from 30 cm. Also, the coating had a strong adhesion of 5B with the substrate. Thus, the designed attractive materials have the potential for self-cleaning, anti-icing, and anti-fouling applications in industries.

RESUMO

Thermoelectric sulfide materials are of particular interest due to the earth-abundant and cost-effective nature of sulfur. Here, we report a new n-type degenerate semiconductor sulfide, AgBiPbS3, which adopts a Fm3̅m structure with a narrow band gap of ∼0.32 eV. Despite the homogeneous distribution of elements at the scale of micrometer, Ag2S nanoprecipitates with dimensions of several nanometers were detected throughout the matrix. AgBiPbS3 exhibits a low room-temperature lattice thermal conductivity of 0.88 W m-1 K-1, owing to the intrinsic low lattice thermal conductivity of Ag2S and the effective scattering of phonons at nanoprecipitate boundaries. Moreover, compared to AgBiS2, AgBiPbS3 demonstrates a significantly improved weighted mobility of >16 cm2 V-1 s-1 at 300 K, leading to an enhanced PF of 1.6 µW cm-1 K-2 at 300 K. The superior electrical transport in AgBiPbS3 can be attributed to the high valley degeneracy of the L point (the conduction band minimum), which is contributed by the Pb s and Pb p orbitals. Further, Ga doping is found to be effective in modulating the Fermi levels of AgBiPbS3, leading to further enhancement of PF with a PFave of 2.7 µW cm-1 K-2 in the temperature range of 300-823 K. Consequently, a relatively high ZTave of 0.22 and a peak ZT of ∼0.4 at 823 K have been achieved in 3% Ga-doped AgBiPbS3, highlighting the potential of AgBiPbS3 as an n-type thermoelectric sulfide.

RESUMO

Doping usually reduces lattice thermal conductivity because of enhanced phonon-impurity scattering. Here, we report unexpected doping effects on the lattice thermal conductivity of quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1D) van der Waals (vdW) TiS3 nanoribbons. As the nanoribbon thickness reduces from ~80 to ~19 nm, the concentration of oxygen atoms has a monotonic increase along with a 7.4-fold enhancement in the thermal conductivity at room temperature. Through material characterizations and atomistic modellings, we find oxygen atoms diffuse more readily into thinner nanoribbons and more sulfur atoms are substituted. The doped oxygen atoms induce significant lattice contraction and coupling strength enhancement along the molecular chain direction while have little effect on vdW interactions, different from that doping atoms induce potential and structural distortions along all three-dimensional directions in 3D materials. With the enhancement of coupling strength, Young's modulus is enhanced while phonon-impurity scattering strength is suppressed, significantly improving the phonon thermal transport.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To study the clinical features of children with autoimmune encephalitis (AE) secondary to epidemic encephalitis B (EEB). METHODS: A retrospective analysis was performed on the medical data of five children with EEB with "bipolar course" who were treated in Children's Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University from January 2020 to June 2022. RESULTS: Among the five children, there were three boys and two girls, with a median age of onset of 7 years (range 3 years 9 months to 12 years) and a median time of 32 (range 25-37) days from the onset of EEB to the appearance of AE symptoms. The main symptoms in the AE stage included dyskinesia (5/5), low-grade fever (4/5), mental and behavioral disorders (4/5), convulsion (2/5), severe disturbance of consciousness (2/5), and limb weakness (1/5). Compared with the results of cranial MRI in the acute phase of EEB, the lesions were enlarged in 3 children and unchanged in 2 children showed on cranial MRI in the AE stage. In the AE stage, four children were positive for anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor antibody (one was also positive for anti-γ-aminobutyric acid type B receptor antibody), and one was negative for all AE antibodies. All five children in the AE stage responded to immunotherapy and were followed up for 3 months, among whom one almost recovered and four still had neurological dysfunction. CONCLUSIONS: EEB can induce AE, with anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis as the most common disease. The symptoms in the AE stage are similar to those of classical anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis. Immunotherapy is effective for children with AE secondary to EEB, and the prognosis might be related to neurological dysfunction in the acute phase of EEB.

RESUMO

Supercapacitors are essential for electrochemical energy storage because of their high-power density, good cycle stability, fast charging and discharging rates, and low maintenance cost. Macrocycles, including cucurbiturils, calixarene, and cyclodextrins, are cage-like organic compounds (with a nanocavity that contains O and N heteroatoms) with unique potential in supercapacitors. Here, we review the applications of macrocycles in supercapacitor systems, and we illustrate the merits of organic macrocycles in electrodes and electrolytes for improving the electrochemical double-layer capacitors and pseudocapacitance via supramolecular strategies. Then, the observed relationships between electrochemical performance and macrocyclic structures are introduced. This comprehensive review describes recent progress on macrocycle-block supercapacitors for researchers.

RESUMO

Objectives: This study aimed to select patients with cancer-related pain to further analyze the relationship between pain severity, fatigue severity, and quality of life. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. A convenience sampling method was used to select 224 patients with cancer-related pain who were undergoing chemotherapy and met the inclusion criteria in two hospitals of two provinces from May to November 2019. All participants were invited to complete a general information questionnaire, the Brief Fatigue Inventory (BFI), the Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) for pain intensity, and the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30). Results: In the 24 h before completing the scales, 85 patients (37.9%) had mild pain, 121 (54.0%) had moderate pain, and 18 (8.0%) had severe pain. In addition, 92 (41.1%) patients had mild fatigue, 72 (32.1%) had moderate fatigue, and 60 (26.8%) had severe fatigue. Most patients with mild pain only experienced mild fatigue, and their quality of life was also at a moderate level. Patients with moderate and severe pain mostly had moderate or higher levels of fatigue and a lower quality of life. There was no correlation between fatigue and quality of life in patients with mild pain (r = -0.179, P = 0.104). There was a correlation between fatigue and quality of life in patients with moderate and severe pain (r = -0.537, P < 0.01; r = -0.509, P < 0.05). Conclusions: Patients with moderate and severe pain have more fatigue symptoms and lower quality of life than those with mild pain. Nurses should pay more attention to patients with moderate and severe pain, explore the interaction mechanism between symptoms, and carry out joint symptom intervention to improve the quality of life of patients.

RESUMO

GeMnTe2 adopts a cubic rock salt structure and is a promising mid-temperature thermoelectric material. The pair distribution function analysis of neutron total scattering data, however, indicates that GeMnTe2 is locally distorted from the ideal rock salt structure with Ge2+ cations being discordant and displaced ∼0.3 Å off the octahedron center. By alloying GeMnTe2 with SbTe, the carrier concentration can be tuned in GeMnTe2-x%SbTe (x = 15.1), leading to converged multiple broad valence bands and a high Seebeck coefficient of >200 µV K-1 from 300 to 823 K. The system exhibits a large density-of-state effective mass of >10 me and a high weighted mobility of 80 cm2 V-1 s-1, leading to a power factor of 15 µWcm-1 K-2 at 823 K. The composition GeMnTe2-15.1%SbTe exhibits very low lattice thermal conductivity of ∼0.5 Wm-1 K-1 at 823 K, attributed to the combination of off-centering cations in the rock salt structure, Ge/Mn positional disorder, dislocations, and abundant Ge-rich and Mn-rich nanoparticles. A ZT value of ∼1.5 can be achieved for GeMnTe2-15.1%SbTe with a ZTave of 0.96 in the temperature range of 400-823 K.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the location and characterization value of contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) in the detection of sentinel lymph nodes (SLNs) in malignant melanoma. METHODS: SLNs and the lymph node network were tracked by subcutaneous injection of ultrasonic contrast agent around the tumor and preoperative localization, and qualitative analyses were performed. The SLNs were also detected by the intraoperative subcutaneous injection of carbon nanoparticles, and the findings were compared with lymph nodes located by CEUS. The accuracy of the preoperative lymph node identification was evaluated by the results of postoperative pathology, which served as the gold standard of detection. RESULTS: In 47 patients with malignant melanoma, the mean number of SLNs detected by CEUS was 1.72 ± 0.10, while that by carbon nanoparticle administration it was 1.79 ± 1.07 (P = .371 > .05). Seven cases of lymph node metastasis were detected by CEUS, with a sensitivity of 70.0%, specificity of 97.3%, positive predictive value of 87.5%, negative predictive value of 92.3%, and accuracy of 91.5%. There was high consistency between the findings of CEUS and pathology in differentiating benign and malignant lymph nodes (kappa = 0.726, χ2  = 25.243, P < .001). CONCLUSIONS: CEUS can localize and differentiate SLNs in malignant melanoma, and thus, may potentially guide clinical treatment in the future.
