RESUMO

This study systematically evaluated the efficacy and safety of different Chinese patent medicines combined with conventional western medicine in the treatment of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction(HFpEF) and ranked for the drug selection. Randomized controlled trial(RCT) on Chinese patent medicines in treatment of HFpEF were obtained from the CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMbase, Web of Science, and other databases from the inception to October 9, 2022. The included RCT was quantitatively analyzed using gemtc and rjags packages of R software for the network Meta-analysis. 74 RCTs were included, with a total of 7 192 patients enrolled, involving 11 different Chinese patent medicines(Shenfu Injection, Shenmai Injection, Qili Qiangxin Capsules, Shexiang Baoxin Pills, Xuezhikang Capsules, Salvia Miltiorrhiza Polyphenols Injection, Tanshinone Ⅱ_A Sulfonate Injection, Xinmailong Injection, Yangxinshi Tablets, Qishen Yiqi Dripping Pills, and Yixinshu Capsules). The results of network Meta-analysis are shown as followed.(1)In terms of improving clinical effective rate, for injection preparations, Xinmailong Injection + conventional western medicine was recommended. while for oral preparations, Shexiang Baoxin Pills + conventional western medicine, Qishen Yiqi Dripping Pills + conventional western medicine, and Qili Qiangxin Capsules + conventional western medicine were preferred.(2)In terms of improving the mitral ratio of peak early to late diastolic filling velocity(E/A), for injection preparations, Shenmai Injection + Salvia Miltiorrhiza Polyphenols Injection + conventional western medicine, Shenmai Injection + conventional western medicine, Shenfu Injection + conventional western medicine were preferred. While for oral preparations, Yixinshu Capsules + conventional western medicine was preferred.(3)In terms of reducing the ratio of early diastolic mitral inflow to early diastolic mitral annular velocity(E/e'), Shenfu Injection + conventional western medicine could be used as injection preparation, and Qili Qiangxin Capsules + conventional western medicine, Qishen Yiqi Dripping Pills + conventional western medicine for oral preparations.(4)In terms of improving 6-minute walking trail(6MWT), the injection preparations such as Shenmai Injection + conventional western medicine, Xinmailong Injection + conventional western medicine were suitable, while oral preparations like Qishen Yiqi Dripping Pills + conventional western medicine, Qili Qiangxin Capsules + conventional western medicine were recommended.(5)In terms of reducing N-terminal pro B-type natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP), Qili Qiangxin Capsules + conventional western medicine were preferred.(6)In terms of reducing B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP), Xinmailong Injection + conventional western medicine could be used for injection preparation and Qili Qiangxin Capsules + conventional western medicine can be used for oral preparation. In terms of adverse drug reactions, there was no significant difference between Chinese patent medicine combined with conventional western conventional and traditional western medicine alone. The results showe that Chinese patent medicine combined with conventional western medicine in treating HFpEF is superior to conventional western medicine alone in reducing clinical symptoms, improving cardiac function, and improving exercise tolerance, which also has good drug safety. However, the existing evidence is still limited by the quality and quantity of included studies, so the above conclusion requires further validation through more prospective RCT.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to observe clinical efficacy of recombinant human granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (rhGM-CSF) gel, medical collagen sponge and rhGM-CSF gel in combination with medical collagen sponge on deep second-degree burns of head, face or neck in infants. METHODS: A total of 108 infants with deep second-degree burns on head, face or neck were randomly divided into rhGM-CSF group, medical collagen sponge group, and rhGM-CSF + medical collagen sponge group. The scab dissolving time, healing time, bacterial positive rate and Vancouver scar scale were evaluated and analyzed. RESULTS: The data analysis showed that scab dissolving time and healing time were shorter in rhGM-CSF + medical collagen sponge group than that in rhGM-CSF group and medical collagen sponge group, and the difference was statistically significant (P < .05). Bacterial positive rate was lower in rhGM-CSF + medical collagen sponge group than that in rhGM-CSF group and medical collagen sponge group (P < .05). After 3 months, score of Vancouver scar scale (scar thickness, pliability, pigmentation and vascularity) was less in rhGM-CSF + medical collagen sponge group than that in rhGM-CSF group and medical collagen sponge group (P < .05). CONCLUSION: rhGM-CSF gel in combination with medical collagen sponge is significantly effective in treating deep second-degree burns of head, face or neck in infants. This combination is beneficial for infection control, acceleration of scab dissolving and wound healing, and reduction of scar hyperplasia and pigmentation, which is worthy of clinical application and promotion.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the mental health of paediatric cochlear implant users and analyse the relationship between six dimensions (movements, cognitive ability, emotion and will, sociality, living habits and language) and hearing and speech rehabilitation. METHODS: Eighty-two cochlear implant users were assessed using the Mental Health Survey Questionnaire. Age at implantation, time of implant use and listening modes were investigated. Categories of Auditory Performance and the Speech Intelligibility Rating Scale were used to score hearing and speech abilities. RESULTS: More recipients scored lower in cognitive ability and language. Age at implantation was statistically significant (p < 0.05) for movements, cognitive ability, emotion and will, and language. The time of implant usage and listening mode indicated statistical significance (p < 0.05) in cognitive ability, sociality and language. CONCLUSION: Timely attention should be paid to the mental health of paediatric cochlear implant users, and corresponding psychological interventions should be implemented to make personalised rehabilitation plans.

RESUMO

Phase-field modeling has become a powerful tool in describing the complex pore-structure evolution and the intricate multiphysics in nonisothermal sintering processes. However, the quantitative validity of conventional variational phase-field models involving diffusive processes is a challenge. Artificial interface effects, like the trapping effects, may originate at the interface when the kinetic properties of two opposing phases are different. On the other hand, models with prescribed antitrapping terms do not necessarily guarantee the thermodynamics variational nature of the model. This issue has been solved for liquid-solid interfaces via the development of the variational quantitative solidification phase-field model. However, there is no related work addressing the interfaces in nonisothermal sintering, where the free surfaces between the solid phase and surrounding pore regions exhibit strong asymmetry of mass and thermal properties. Also, additional challenges arise due to the conserved order parameter describing the free surfaces. In this work, we present a variational and quantitative phase-field model for nonisothermal sintering processes. The model is derived via an extended nondiagonal phase-field model. The model evolution equations have naturally cross-coupling terms between the conserved kinetics (i.e., mass and thermal transfer) and the nonconserved one (grain growth). These terms are shown via asymptotic analysis to be instrumental in ensuring the elimination of interface artifacts, while also examined to not modify the thermodynamic equilibrium condition (characterized by a dihedral angle). Moreover, we demonstrate that the trapping effects and the existence of surface diffusion in conservation laws are direction-dependent. An anisotropic interpolation scheme of the kinetic mobilities that differentiates between the normal and tangential directions along the interface is discussed. Numerically, we demonstrate the importance of the cross-couplings and the anisotropic interpolation by presenting thermal-microstructural evolutions.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the correlation between serum parathyroid hormone (PTH) levels and in-hospital major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with acute ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), and establish a risk prediction model based on parameters such as PTH for in-hospital MACE. Methods: This observational retrospective study consecutively enrolled 340 patients who underwent primary PCI for STEMI between January 2016 and December 2020, divided into a MACE group (n=92) and a control group (n=248). The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and logistic regression analyses were used to determine the risk factors for MACE after primary PCI. The rms package in R-studio statistical software was used to construct a nomogram, to detect the line chart C-index, and to draw a calibration curve. The decision curve analysis (DCA) method was used to evaluate the clinical application value and net benefit. Results: Correlation analysis revealed that PTH level positively correlated with the occurrence of in-hospital MACE. Receiver operating characteristic curve analyses revealed that PTH had a good predictive value for in-hospital MACE. Multivariate logistic regression analysis indicated that Killip class II-IV, and FBG were independently associated with in-hospital MACE after primary PCI. A nomogram model was constructed using the above parameters. The model C-index was 0.894 and the calibration curve indicated that the model was well calibrated. The DCA curve suggested that the nomogram model was better than TIMI score model in terms of net clinical benefit. Conclusion: Serum PTH levels in patients with STEMI are associated with in-hospital MACE after primary PCI, and the nomogram risk prediction model based on PTH demonstrated good predictive ability with obvious clinical practical value.

RESUMO

Here, we fabricated a hybrid nanoparticle composed of polydopamine nanoparticles (pNPs), alendronate (Al) and genipin (GP) for cranial bone defect repair. Al was crosslinked into pNPs via GP (Al@pNPs), after which hybrid nanoparticles were obtained. By embedding these Al@pNPs into the fibrin hydrogels, a multifunctional bone repair scaffold was fabricated (Al@pNPs/Fg). The Al@pNPs/Fg exhibited three synergistic effects on the bone microenvironment: i) enhanced ectomesenchymal stem cell (EMSC) osteogenic differentiation by activating the piezo 1 channel; ii) inhibited the formation and function of osteoclasts related to the NF-κB signaling pathways; and iii) promoted M2 polarization and anti-inflammatory factor expression under normal and simulated inflammatory conditions. Al@pNPs/Fg ultimately promoted cranial bone defect regeneration in an SD rat model. This simple and low-cost technology provides a new approach to constructing an efficient delivery system and has desirable biological properties, providing a tissue-committed niche for the repair of bone defects.

RESUMO

Engineered bone tissue that can promote osteogenic differentiation is considered an ideal substitute for materials to heal bone defects. Extracellular vesicle (EV)-based cell-free regenerative therapies represent an emerging promising alternative for bone tissue engineering. We hypothesized that EVs derived from human nasal mucosa-derived ectomesenchymal stem cells (hEMSCs) can promote bone tissue regeneration. Herein, hEMSCs were cultured with osteogenic induction medium or normal medium to generate two types of EVs. We first demonstrated that the two EVs exhibited strong potential to promote rat suture mesenchymal stem cell (SMSC) osteogenesis by transferring TG2 to SMSCs and regulating extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis. Next, we developed a composite hydrogel made of porcine omentum and chitosan into which EVs were adsorbed to enable the effective delivery of EVs with sustained release kinetics. Implantation of the EV-loaded hydrogels in a critical-size rat cranial defect model significantly promoted bone regeneration. Therefore, we suggest that our hEMSC-derived EV-loading system can serve as a new therapeutic paradigm for promoting bone tissue regeneration in the clinic.

RESUMO

We report an intrinsic strain engineering, akin to thin filmlike approaches, via irreversible high-temperature plastic deformation of a tetragonal ferroelectric single-crystal BaTiO_{3}. Dislocations well-aligned along the [001] axis and associated strain fields in plane defined by the [110]/[1[over ¯]10] plane are introduced into the volume, thus nucleating only in-plane domain variants. By combining direct experimental observations and theoretical analyses, we reveal that domain instability and extrinsic degradation processes can both be mitigated during the aging and fatigue processes, and demonstrate that this requires careful strain tuning of the ratio of in-plane and out-of-plane domain variants. Our findings advance the understanding of structural defects that drive domain nucleation and instabilities in ferroic materials and are essential for mitigating device degradation.

RESUMO

2D magnets can potentially revolutionize information technology, but their potential application to cooling technology and magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in a material down to the monolayer limit remain unexplored. Herein, it is revealed through multiscale calculations the existence of giant MCE and its strain tunability in monolayer magnets such as CrX3 (X = F, Cl, Br, I), CrAX (A = O, S, Se; X = F, Cl, Br, I), and Fe3 GeTe2 . The maximum adiabatic temperature change ( Δ T ad max $\Delta T_{{\rm{ad}}}^{\max }$ ), maximum isothermal magnetic entropy change, and specific cooling power in monolayer CrF3 are found as high as 11 K, 35 µJ m-2  K-1 , and 3.5 nW cm-2 under a magnetic field of 5 T, respectively. A 2% biaxial and 5% a-axis uniaxial compressive strain can remarkably increase Δ T ad max $\Delta T_{{\rm{ad}}}^{\max }$ of CrCl3 and CrOF by 230% and 37% (up to 15.3 and 6.0 K), respectively. It is found that large net magnetic moment per unit area favors improved MCE. These findings advocate the giant-MCE monolayer magnets, opening new opportunities for magnetic cooling at nanoscale.

RESUMO

Transplanting human neural progenitor cells is a promising method of replenishing the lost neurons after spinal cord injury (SCI), but differentiating neural progenitor cells into the diverse types of mature functional spinal cord neurons in vivo is challenging. In this study, engineered human embryonic spinal cord-like tissues with dorsal and ventral neuronal characters (DV-SC) were generated by inducing human neural progenitor cells (hscNPCs) to differentiate into various types of dorsal and ventral neuronal cells on collagen scaffold in vitro. Transplantation of DV-SC into complete SCI models in rats and monkeys showed better therapeutic effects than undifferentiated hscNPCs, including pronounced cell survival and maturation. DV-SC formed a targeted connection with the host's ascending and descending axons, partially restored interrupted neural circuits, and improved motor evoked potentials and the hindlimb function of animals with SCI. This suggests that the transplantation of pre-differentiated hscNPCs with spinal cord dorsal and ventral neuronal characteristics could be a promising strategy for SCI repair.

RESUMO

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: To compare the clinical and economic effects of ultrasound (US)-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) with parathyroidectomy (PTX) for primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT). MATERIALS AND METHODS: From April 2014 to April 2021, 123 PHPT patients who received US-guided RFA or PTX were studied. Propensity score (PS) matching was used to balance the baseline data of the two groups. The rates of cure, recurrent and persistent PHPT, and complications were compared. A Chinese healthcare system perspective cost minimization analysis was conducted. RESULTS: After PS matching, 37 patient pairs (1:1) were created for the two groups. Follow-up was 27.2 ± 10.6 months and 28.8 ± 16.1 months for the RFA and PTX groups, respectively. At the last follow-up, there was no evidence of differences regarding clinical cure rate between the two groups (RFA vs. PTX, 91.9% vs. 94.6%, p = 1.000). Recurrent PHPT did not develop in any patient. One patient in each group had persistent PHPT. The incidence of complications and side effects, except postoperative pain (RFA vs. PTX, 16.2% vs. 40.5%, p = 0.020), were no significant difference between the two groups (all, p > 0.05). The incremental cost was -$284.00; thus, RFA was more cost-effective. For patients with employee medical insurance or resident medical insurance, the incremental costs (RFA vs. PTX) were -$391.94 and -$49.43, respectively. CONCLUSION: There were no significant differences in efficacy and safety between RFA and PTX. As the incremental cost for RFA compared with PTX was negative, RFA may be used as a more cost-effective nonsurgical treatment alternative for PHPT.

RESUMO

Neural progenitor cell (NPC) transplantation is a promising approach for repairing spinal cord injury (SCI). However, cell survival, maturation and integration after transplantation are still major challenges. Here, we produced a novel centimeter-scale human spinal cord neural tissue (hscNT) construct with human spinal cord neural progenitor cells (hscNPCs) and human spinal cord astrocytes (hscAS) on a linearly ordered collagen scaffold (LOCS). The hscAS promoted hscNPC adhesion, survival and neurite outgrowth on the LOCS, to form a linearly ordered spinal cord-like structure consisting of mature neurons and glia cells. When transplanted into rats with SCI, the hscNT created a favorable microenvironment by inhibiting inflammation and glial scar formation, and promoted neural and vascular regeneration. Notably, the hscNT promoted neural circuit reconstruction and motor functional recovery. Engineered human spinal cord implants containing astrocytes and neurons assembled on axon guidance scaffolds may therefore have potential in the treatment of SCI.

RESUMO

Noncovalent interactions between cells and environmental cues have been recognized as fundamental physiological interactions that regulate cell behavior. However, the effects of the covalent interactions between cells and biomaterials on cell behavior have not been examined. Here, we demonstrate a combined strategy based on covalent conjugation between biomaterials (collagen fibers/lipid nanoparticles) and various cells (exogenous neural progenitor cells/astrocytes/endogenous tissue-resident cells) to promote neural regeneration after spinal cord injury (SCI). We found that metabolic azido-labeled human neural progenitor cells conjugated on dibenzocyclooctyne-modified collagen fibers significantly promoted cell adhesion, spreading, and differentiation compared with noncovalent adhesion. In addition, dibenzocyclooctyne-modified lipid nanoparticles containing edaravone, a well-known ROS scavenger, could target azide-labeled spinal cord tissues or transplanted azide-modified astrocytes to improve the SCI microenvironment. The combined application of these covalent conjugation strategies in a rat SCI model boosted neural regeneration, suggesting that the covalent interactions between cells and biomaterials have great potential for tissue regeneration.

RESUMO

Despite their rapid emergence as the dominant paradigm for electrochemical energy storage, the full promise of lithium-ion batteries is yet to be fully realized, partly because of challenges in adequately resolving common degradation mechanisms. Positive electrodes of Li-ion batteries store ions in interstitial sites based on redox reactions throughout their interior volume. However, variations in the local concentration of inserted Li-ions and inhomogeneous intercalation-induced structural transformations beget substantial stress. Such stress can accumulate and ultimately engender substantial delamination and transgranular/intergranular fracture in typically brittle oxide materials upon continuous electrochemical cycling. This perspective highlights the coupling between electrochemistry, mechanics, and geometry spanning key electrochemical processes: surface reaction, solid-state diffusion, and phase nucleation/transformation in intercalating positive electrodes. In particular, we highlight recent findings on tunable material design parameters that can be used to modulate the kinetics and thermodynamics of intercalation phenomena, spanning the range from atomistic and crystallographic materials design principles (based on alloying, polymorphism, and pre-intercalation) to emergent mesoscale structuring of electrode architectures (through control of crystallite dimensions and geometry, curvature, and external strain). This framework enables intercalation chemistry design principles to be mapped to degradation phenomena based on consideration of mechanics coupling across decades of length scales. Scale-bridging characterization and modeling, along with materials design, holds promise for deciphering mechanistic understanding, modulating multiphysics couplings, and devising actionable strategies to substantially modify intercalation phase diagrams in a manner that unlocks greater useable capacity and enables alleviation of chemo-mechanical degradation mechanisms.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) represents the gold standard treatment method for cases with large kidney stones. As a critical step in performing PCNL, the procedure of establishing a safe and accurate nephrostomy tract will dramatically impact the treatment quality of patients with large-sized kidney stones. OBJECTIVE: This work attempts to describe a new and improved process of establishing an accurate nephrostomy tract and clinically evaluate the effectiveness and safeness of this proposed methodology. METHODS: This work represents a retrospective single-center study carried out between August 2013 and November 2019. The collected samples consist of 937 patients who were operated on using PCNL coupled with our proposed procedure. Briefly, a preoperative B-ultrasonography was firstly performed to decide the puncture point in a simulated surgical position where was marked with ureteral catheter segments (2-3 cm). A computed tomography (CT) scan was followed to correct the anchor points in the simulated surgical position. After this, an accurate puncture operation was performed under the real-time guidance of intraoperative B ultrasound. RESULTS: Examining this study, 851 subjects with renal stones and 86 subjects with ureteropelvic junction stones were included for the PCNL operation project. All samples were grouped with Guy's grading system: grade I, II, III, and IV patients there were 0.00%, 42.69%, 51.01%, and 6.30%, respectively. Among these patients, the average age was 48.49 ± 10.80 years old, with a male to female ratio of around 1.73:1. CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that our developed method warrants an accurate and safe PCNL operation that involves the process of establishing the nephrostomy tract. Other advantageous attributes of this new PCNL process include negligible radiation exposure, lesser complications, and low failure rates. More importantly, this new localization approach is particularly attractive for hospitals that are new to the field of adopting PCNL considering its safeness, effectiveness, and learnability.

RESUMO

Transplantation of adult spinal cord tissue (aSCT) is a promising treatment for spinal cord injury (SCI) basing on various types of neural cells and matrix components inside aSCT. However, long-term systemic administration of immunosuppressors (e.g. tacrolimus, TAC) is required for the survival of allogeneic tissue, which often associated with severe side effects such as infection, liver damageand renal failure. In this study, a triglycerol monostearate (TGM)-based TAC delivery system (e.g. TAC@TGM) with high drug loading concentration was developed, which possessed injectable properties as well as sustainable and immune-responsive drug release behaviors. In complete transected SCI model, locally injected TAC@TGM could reduce the infiltration of inflammation cells, enhance the survival of transplanted aSCT (e.g. Tuj-1+ and NF+ neurons) and promote the recovery of locomotor function. Moreover, controlled release of TAC by TAC@TGM attenuated side effects of TAC on liver and kidneys compared with traditional systemic administration. More importantly, the developed TAC@TGM system provided a facile single dose of long-term immunosuppressive effect not just for aSCT transplantation, but also for other tissue/organ and cell transplantations.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Congenital sensorineural hearing loss is a common congenital condition. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to assess the correlation between nonverbal mental development and the effect of post-cochlear implant in children. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study is a retrospective analysis of the CI program implemented at the ENT in the Lanzhou University Second Hospital (China). We reviewed data of 225 children who received CI between 2015 and 2018. Finally, 115 children met the inclusion criteria. Our hospital used The Griffith mental development scales to evaluate the preoperative non-verbal intelligence. The outcome of CI was evaluated using the categories of IT-MAIS, MUSS, CAP and SIR at 2 years after surgery. The associations between the preoperative non-verbal development quotient (DQ) and the postoperative outcomes were analyzed. RESULTS: Preoperative non-verbal DQ correlates with the long-term postoperative result, especially the Eye-hand co-ordination and Performance DQ. CONCLUSIONS AND SIGNIFICANCE: Preoperative non-verbal intelligence would predict postoperative effect. The single postoperative scale does not fully reflect the postoperative result.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To determine whether di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) promotes the occurrence of bladder cancer (BCa) and explore the action of DBP acts on BCa cells at the cellular and molecular levels. METHODS: MTT and Transwell assays were used to investigate the tumorigenic actions of DBP on BCa cells. Second-generation sequencing was used to identify differences in gene expression before and after DBP treatment. Differential gene expression was verified by q-PCR and analyzed using bioinformatics. Cells were transfected to overexpress genes of interest and proliferation and migration were measured using MTT and Transwell assays, respectively. RESULTS: DBP treatment stimulated both proliferation and invasion in BCa cells. Second-generation sequencing identified differences in the expression of FOSB, JUND, ATP6V1C2, and RHOQ before and after DBP treatment. FOSB expression was confirmed by q-PCR and bioinformatic analyses. FOSB overexpression increased both proliferation and invasion in BCa cells. CONCLUSION: DBP promoted BCa tumorigenesis by inducing changes in gene expression.

RESUMO

Neural stem progenitor cell (NSPC) transplantation has been regarded as a promising therapeutic method for spinal cord injury (SCI) repair. However, different NSPCs may have different therapeutic effects, and it is therefore important to identify the optimal NSPC type. In our study, we compared the transcriptomes of human fetal brain-derived NSPCs (BNSPCs), spinal cord-derived NSPCs (SCNSPCs) and H9 embryonic stem-cell derived NSPCs (H9-NSPCs) in vitro and subsequently we transplanted each NSPC type on a collagen scaffold into a T8-9 complete SCI rat model in vivo. In vitro data showed that SCNSPCs had more highly expressed genes involved in nerve-related functions than the other two cell types. In vivo, compared with BNSPCs and H9-NSPCs, SCNSPCs exhibited the best therapeutic effects; in fact, SCNSPCs facilitated electrophysiological and hindlimb functional recovery. This study demonstrates that SCNSPCs may be an appropriate candidate cell type for SCI repair, which is of great clinical significance.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the clinical and MRI features of the mixed epithelial and stromal tumor family (MESTF) of the kidney. Methods:From January 2009 to September 2021, 42 patients with pathologically-proven MESTF from the First Medical Center of Chinese PLA General Hospital were collected in this retrospective study. Clinical information, MRI features, and pathological results were documented. According to the Bosniak classification (BC) version 2019, all MESTFs were divided into cystic MESTFs (36 cases) and solid-cystic MESTFs (6 cases). The R.E.N.A.L. nephrometry score (RNS), lesion size, laterality, location, margin, shape, growth pattern, presence of protruding into renal sinus, hemorrhage, and enhancement pattern were evaluated and documented. Based on BC versions 2005 and 2019, all the cystic MESTFs were assessed and divided into low (Ⅰ, Ⅱ, ⅡF) and high (Ⅲ, Ⅳ) grades. The independent sample t test or Mann-Whitney U test were performed to compare age, RNS, and lesion size between cystic MESTFs and solid-cystic MESTFs. Pearson χ 2 test, continuity-adjusted χ 2 test or Fisher exact probability test were utilized to evaluated the differences of clinical and MRI features and the distribution of low or high grades in two versions of BC. Results:Forty-two MESTFs were unilateral and solitary masses, 25 males and 17 females, with a mean age of (41±13) years old. Compared to solid-cystic MESTFs, cystic MESTFs were prone to demonstrate endophytic growth pattern (χ 2=17.77, P<0.001), and no significant differences in other clinical and MRI features were observed between cystic and solid-cystic MESTFs (all P>0.05). There were 7 low-grade and 29 high-grade tumors in the BC version 2005, respectively. Meanwhile, 24 low-grade and 12 high-grade tumors in the BC version 2019, respectively. The distribution of low or high-grade tumors in the two versions of BC had a statistically significant difference (χ 2=16.37, P<0.001). Conclusion:MESTFs demonstrated middle-age onset and no gender predilection. Cystic MESTFs are more likely to exhibit endophytic growth pattern with low-grade classification in BC system version 2019.
