INTRODUCTION: Mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) are widely used as ideal nanovehicles for the delivery of chemotherapeutic drugs. However, the balance between high anti-periodontitis activity and low biotoxicity has been challenging to maintain in most relevant studies owing to the slow degradation of silica in living organisms. METHOD: In this study, -responsive hydroxyapatite (HAP) was doped into the MSN skeleton, and the chemotherapeutic drug minocycline hydrochloride (MH) was loaded into the pores of MSN, forming a negatively charged drug delivery system. Cationic chitosan (COS) is a biodegradable material with high antibacterial performance and good biosafety. In this study, COS was immobilized on the surface of the drug-loaded particles through stable charge interaction to construct a composite drug delivery system (MH@MSNion@COS). RESULTS: In vitro and cellular experiments demonstrated effective degradation of the nanocarrier system and synchronized controlled release of the drug. Notably, compared with single MH administration, this system, in which MH and COS jointly regulated the expression levels of periodontitis- associated inflammatory factors (TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1ß, and iNOS), better inhibited the progress of periodontitis and induced tissue regeneration without showing significant toxic side effects in cells. CONCLUSION: This system provides a promising strategy for the design of intelligent, efficient, and safe anti-periodontitis drug delivery systems.

RATIONALE: Eosinophilic angiocentric fibrosis (EAF) is considered to be a kind of benign IgG4-related disease, and it is more often found in the nasal cavity. We present a pretty rare case of orbital EAF that is unlike any other reported case for this case is an IgG4 negative orbital EAF and successfully treated by the fronto orbitozygomatic approach surgery. PATIENT CONCERNS: This is a 68-year-old man from a rural area of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, went to our hospital for a 2-month history of vision loss with a local hospital orbital computer tomography which showed that there was a lesion in his left orbit. The inspection of the patient revealed that the patient left eye was protruding outward and the left eyelid unable to complete open or close. And his left eyeball movement had difficulty in all directions. Postoperative pathology diagnosed that this was a case of IgG4-negative EAF case. DIAGNOSES: Orbital EAF. INTERVENTIONS: Surgical radical resection and postoperative glucocorticoid therapy. OUTCOMES: After surgery, the left eye vision of this patient increased to 0.6 tested in the standard logarithmic visual acuity chart. And his left eyeball movement dysfunction and eyeball outward protruding get a partially relief. LESSONS: EAF occurring in the orbit is a very rare disease and immunohistochemical results of EAF can be IgG4 negative.

Light-induced phase segregation is one of the main issues restricting the efficiency and stability of wide-bandgap perovskite solar cells (WBG PSCs). Small organic molecules with abundant functional groups can passivate various defects, and therefore suppress the ionic migration channels for phase segregation. Herein, a series of pyridine-derivative isomers containing amino and carboxyl are applied to modify the perovskite surface. The amino, carboxyl, and N-terminal of pyridine in all of these molecules can interact with undercoordinated Pb2+ through coordination bonds and suppress halide ions migration via hydrogen bonding. Among them, the 5-amino-3-pyridine carboxyl acid (APA-3) treated devices win the champion performance, enabling an efficiency of 22.35% (certified 22.17%) using the 1.68 eV perovskite, which represents one of the highest values for WBG-PSCs. This is believed to be due to the more symmetric spatial distribution of the three functional groups of APA-3, which provides a better passivation effect independent of the molecular arrangement orientation. Therefore, the APA-3 passivated perovskite shows the slightest halide segregation, the lowest defect density, and the least nonradiative recombination. Moreover, the APA-3 passivated device retains 90% of the initial efficiency after 985 h of operation at the maximum power point, representing the robust durability of WBG-PSCs under working conditions.

Designing and synthesizing fullerene bisadducts with a higher-lying conduction band minimum is promising to further improve the device performance of tin-based perovskite solar cells (TPSCs). However, the commonly obtained fullerene bisadduct products are isomeric mixtures and require complicated separation. Moreover, the isomeric mixtures are prone to resulting in energy alignment disorders, interfacial charge loss, and limited device performance improvement. Herein, we synthesized single-isomer C60- and C70-based diethylmalonate functionalized bisadducts (C60BB and C70BB) by utilizing the steric-hindrance-assisted strategy and determined all molecular structures involved by single crystal diffraction. Meanwhile, we found that the different solvents used for processing the fullerene bisadducts can effectively regulate the molecular packing in their films. The dense and amorphous fullerene bisadduct films prepared by using anisole exhibited the highest electron mobility. Finally, C60BB- and C70BB-based TPSCs showed impressive efficiencies up to 14.51 and 14.28%, respectively. These devices also exhibited excellent long-term stability. This work highlights the importance of developing strategies to synthesize single-isomer fullerene bisadducts and regulate their molecular packing to improve TPSCs' performance.

This research presents a novel port parametric modeling technique using three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics for the design and optimization of intake and exhaust phases in side-ported Wankel rotary engines (WREs). Definitions for the port phases encompass parameters such as port start opening, port full opening, port start closing, and port full closing timings. The four port phase control arcs are obtained by translating and rotating the rotor flank to satisfy the high control accuracy. Further, the shape of the port is further smoothed and varied by four auxiliary circular arcs. Moreover, the influence of port full closing timing and the size of auxiliary circular arcs (R1, and R3) on the intake characteristics is studied. The results show that the novel method can flexibly and effectively control the phases and shapes. The early port full closing timing reduces fluid backflow and improves volumetric efficiency (VE) but increases intake loss (IL). The small size of R1 facilitates to increase the VE and reduce IL. A larger or smaller size of R3 is not conducive to reducing IL, and the smaller size of R3 improves the VE. The novel generation method proposed in this paper provides a theoretical basis to optimize the design of various sizes of side-ported WREs and guidance for practical manufacturing.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant long psychological impacts that require a novel measurement tool to capture the changes in such impacts. To this end, the COVID-19 Impact Scale (CIS) was developed as an instrument to evaluate psychological responses associated with the pandemic, and has shown evidence of a one-factor structure. The CIS was initially created using an Korea University students sample, and has since been translated and validated in Turkish. A total of 504 College students, aged 17-25, took part in the study from two universities in Jinan, located in Shandong Province, Eastern China, via an online survey platform. They were administered the Chinese versions of the following self-report instruments: Mandarin Chinese CIS, Fear of COVID-19 Scale, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 and Satisfaction With Life Scale. Moreover, a sample of 86 participants who provided their contact information and agreed to participate in the second-round survey were asked to reassess using the Mandarin Chinese CIS after a period of 3 weeks following the initial testing. Results showed that Mandarin Chinese CIS had good internal consistency and test-retest reliability. Additionally, the Mandarin Chinese CIS presented good criterion validity and estimates of convergent validity and incremental validity. In confirmatory factor analysis, the one-factor model showed an acceptable fit after incorporating correlations between error terms. Our findings suggest that the Mandarin Chinese CIS is a reliable and valid self-report tool that demonstrates robust psychometric properties and acceptable construct validity when used with a Chinese university students.

Sesamol is the major bioactive constituent isolated from sesame seeds and has a variety of bioactivities. However, its role and mechanism in liver insulin resistance remain unknown. The current study was designed to investigate the underlying adipose-liver crosstalk mechanism of sesamol ameliorating hepatic insulin sensitivity. The therapeutic effect of sesamol was evaluated in high-fat diet (HFD)-fed C57BL/6 J mice (100 mg/kg for 8 weeks, XYGW-2021-75) and the mechanism was further explored in HepG2 cells with/without adiponectin and adenosine 5 '-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) inhibitor administration. Our in vivo data showed that sesamol reduced hepatic insulin resistance in HFD-induced mice with obesity by modulating protein expression levels of glycogen synthase (GS), phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK) and protein kinase B (AKT). Moreover, sesamol not only increased the serum and adipose tissue adiponectin concentrations but also activated the phosphorylation of AMPK in the liver. Furthermore, in vitro studies using recombinant human adiponectin and an AMPK inhibitor revealed that adiponectin and sesamol have a synergic impact on increasing glycogenesis and reducing gluconeogenesis, of which the effects could be attenuated by the AMPK inhibitor. Taken together, our results suggested that sesamol stimulated adiponectin secretion from adipocytes, whereby exhibited a co-effect on activating the downstream signal of hepatic AMPK, resulting in the alleviation of hepatic insulin resistance. The novel findings of sesamol on hepatic effects provides prospective therapeutic approaches to treat insulin resistance.

The mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) is an essential hub that integrates nutrient signals and coordinates metabolism to control cell growth. Amino acid signals are detected by sensor proteins and relayed to the GATOR2 and GATOR1 complexes to control mTORC1 activity. Here we perform genome-wide CRISPR/Cas9 screens, coupled with an assay for mTORC1 activity based on fluorescence-activated cell sorting analysis of pS6, to identify potential regulators of mTORC1-dependent amino acid sensing. We then focus on interleukin enhancer binding factor 3 (ILF3), one of the candidate genes from the screen. ILF3 tethers the GATOR complexes to lysosomes to control mTORC1. Adding a lysosome-targeting sequence to the GATOR2 component WDR24 bypasses the requirement for ILF3 to modulate amino-acid-dependent mTORC1 signalling. ILF3 plays an evolutionarily conserved role in human and mouse cells, and in worms to regulate the mTORC1 pathway, control autophagy activity and modulate the ageing process.

Characteristics of the urban environment (e.g., building density and road network) can influence the spread and transmission of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) within cities, especially in high-density high-rise built environments. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the key attributes of high-density high-rise built environments to enhance modelling of the spread of COVID-19. To this end, case studies for testing attributes for modelling development were performed in two densely populated Chinese cities with high-rise, high-density built environments (Hong Kong and Shanghai).The investigated urban environmental features included 2D and 3D urban morphological indices (e.g., sky view factor, floor area ratio, frontal area density, height to width ratio, and building coverage ratio), socioeconomic and demographic attributes (e.g., population), and public service points-of-interest (e.g., bus stations and clinics). The modelling effects of 3D urban morphological features on the infection rate are notable in urban communities. As the spatial scale becomes larger, the modelling effect of 2D built environment factors (e.g., building coverage ratio) on the infection rate becomes more notable. The influence of several key factors (e.g., the building coverage ratio and population density) at different scales can be considered when modelling the infection risk in urban communities. The findings of this study clarify how attributes of built environments can be applied to predict the spread of infectious diseases. This knowledge can be used to develop effective planning strategies to prevent and control epidemics and ensure healthy cities.

Curculigo orchioides (CUR) and Epimedium (EPI) are traditional Chinese medicines with estrogen-like biological activity, called Xianmao and Xianlingpi (Er-xian) in Chinese. However, whether Er-xian exerts protective effects on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (MIRI) is unknown. This study aimed to investigate the cardioprotective effects of Er-xian preconditioning against MIRI and the underlying mechanisms. CUR or EPI was administered intragastrically to aged female rats as a monotherapy or combination therapy. 2 weeks later, a rat MIRI model was established. Myocardial infarction size, myocardial morphology, cTnT, cell apoptosis rate, intracellular calcium concentration, mitochondrial permeability transition pore (MPTP) opening and reperfusion injury salvage kinase (RISK) signaling pathway molecules were observed after the surgery. To evaluate the mechanisms of Er-xian, estrogen receptors antagonists ICI 182780 and G15 were used. In this study, Er-xian notably alleviated myocardial tissue damage, maintained mitochondrial morphology, reduced infarct size and cardiac markers, and increased sera levels of E2. Moreover, Er-xian inhibited calcium overload and mPTP opening, and decreased cardiomyocyte apoptosis. We found that the dual therapy of CUR and EPI elicited more noticeable results than CUR or EPI monotherapy. The significant protective effects of Er-xian on ischemia-reperfusion myocardium were attributed to the up-regulation of AKT, ERK1/2 and GSK-3ß phosphorylation levels. The cardioprotective effects of Er-xian were significantly reduced after estrogen receptor blockade, especially GPER30. These results indicate that Er-xian attenuates MIRI through RISK signaling pathway and estrogen receptors are the critical mediators.

Background: As brain function declines and cognitive ability declines, the benefits of resistance exercise to the brain of older people are gradually gaining attention. Objective: The purpose of this review is to explore the mechanism and relationship between physiological factors such as vascular and neuronal degeneration and cognitive decline, and to categorize the differences in the effects of an acute and chronic resistance exercise intervention on cognitive function in healthy elderly people and the possible regulators of cognitive effects. Methods: Using PubMed, Elsevier, Web of Science, X-MOL, CNKI, and Taiwan academic literature database, the research papers published in relevant journals at home and abroad until April 2022 were searched with Chinese and English keywords such as Resistance exercise, the elderly, hippocampus, memory performance, neurons, cognitive function. Pedro scale was used to check the quality of various documents, and the relevant research documents were obtained with the resistance exercise elements as the main axis for comprehensive analysis. Results and conclusion: (1) Resistance exercise can have a beneficial effect on the brain function of the elderly through blood flow changes, stimulate nerve conduction substances and endocrine metabolism, promote cerebrovascular regeneration and gray matter volume of the brain, and prevent or delay the cognitive function degradation such as memory and attention of the elderly; (2) Acute resistance can temporarily stimulate hormone secretion in vivo and significantly improve the effect of short-term memory test, but it has little effect on the cognitive performance of the elderly; (3) Moderate-high intensity resistance exercise (50-80%1RM, 1-3 times/week, 2-3 groups/time) lasting for at least 6 months is more prominent for the improvement of cognitive function of the elderly, while the parameters such as resistance exercise intensity, exercise amount, duration, evaluation test time and differences of subjects may have different degrees of influence on cognitive benefits.

The use of technologies to enhance human and animal perception has been explored in pioneering research about artificial life and biohybrid systems. These attempts have revealed that augmented sensing abilities can emerge from new interactions between individuals within or across species. Nevertheless, the diverse effects of different augmented capabilities have been less examined and compared. In this work, we built a human-fish biohybrid system that enhanced the vision of the ornamental fish by projecting human participants onto the arena background. In contrast, human participants were equipped with a mixed-reality device, which visualized individual fish trails (representing situation-oriented perceptions) and emotions (representing communication-oriented perceptions). We investigated the impacts of the two enhanced perceptions on the human side and documented the perceived effects from three aspects. First, both augmented perceptions considerably increase participants' attention toward ornamental fish, and the impact of emotion recognition is more potent than trail sense. Secondly, the frequency of human-fish interactions increases with the equipped perceptions. The mood recognition ability on the human side can indirectly promote the recorded positive mood of fish. Thirdly, most participants mentioned that they felt closer to those fish which had mood recognition ability, even if we added some mistakes in the accuracy of mood recognition. In contrast, the addition of trail sensing ability does not lead to a similar effect on the mental bond. These findings reveal several aspects of different perceived effects between the enhancements of communication-oriented and situation-oriented perceptions.

Objectives: This study used the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework to identify the factors involved in the decisions made by integrated medical and healthcare organizations to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) elderly care service resources. Method: This study identified the Decision-making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory-Interpretive Structural Modeling (DEMATEL-ISM) method was used to construct a multilayer recursive structural model and to analyze the interrelationships between the levels. A MICMAC quadrant diagram was used for a cluster analysis. Results: The ISM recursive structural model was divided into a total of seven layers. The bottom layer contained the four factors of High risk of data leakage (T1), Lack of awareness of the value and benefits of AI healthcare technology (T5), Lack of management leadership support (O1), and Government policies (E1). Having a low dependency but high driving force, these factors are the root causes of adoption by healthcare organizations. The topmost layer contained the most direct factors, which had a high dependency but the low driving force, influencing adoption: Competitive pressures (E2), Lack of patient trust (E5), and Lack of excellent partnerships (E7). Healthcare organizations are more concerned with technology and their environments when deciding to adopt intelligent healthcare resources. Conclusion: The combination of the three methods of DEMATEL-ISM-MICMAC construction models provides new ideas for smart healthcare services for hospitals. The DEMATEL method favors the construction dimension of the micro-model, while the ISM method favors the construction dimension of the macro-model. Combining these two methods may reduce the loss of information within the system, simplify the matrix calculation workload, and improve the efficiency of operations while decomposing the complex problems into several sub-problems in a more comprehensive and detailed way. Conducting cluster analysis of the adoption determinants utilizing MICMAC quadrant diagrams may provide strong methodological guidance and decision-making recommendations for government departments, senior decision-makers in healthcare organizations, and policy-makers in associations in the senior care industry.

RATIONALE: Intraspinal choristoma is a relatively uncommon intervertebral canal tumor. Prior to our reports, only 2 cases of intraspinal choristoma had been reported. Because this disease is not common and looks like a mass of fatty tissue on the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), intraspinal choristoma can be easily misdiagnosed as teratomas or lipomas (like the case of this article presenting) without a pathology report. So if a lumber intraspinal lesion is discovered in a clinical examination, intraspinal choristoma should be considered as a differential diagnosis. We present a case of intraspinal choristoma that is unlike any other reported case. PATIENT CONCERNS: A 35-year-old woman with left lower extremity hypoesthesia and burning-like pain in the lumbar region for 1 month visited the local hospital for plain lumbar spine MRI. The patient was diagnosed with a lumbar space-occupying lesion. A second plain lumbar spine MRI scan and a MRI scan with enhancement were performed in our hospital to confirm the presence of a congenital lipoma in the spinal canal. A postoperative biopsy of the lumbar spinal mass indicated that the mass was an intraspinal choristoma located in the spinal canal. DIAGNOSIS: Intraspinal choristoma. INTERVENTION: The lesion was surgically removed, and follow-up plain and enhanced MRI images of the patient's lumbar spine were obtained. OUTCOMES: After surgery, the patient no longer experienced the burning pain in her lumbar region or the left lower extremity hypoesthesia when the patient was discharged. And there was no evidence of recurrence 2 years after the surgery. LESSONS: The MRI presentation of intraspinal choristoma is similar to intraspinal lipoma. Therefore, a pathological assessment is critical to provide an accurate diagnosis.

Continuous conducting lines of width 5-20 µm have been printed with a Ag nanoparticle ink using drop-on-demand (DOD) electrohydrodynamic (EHD) inkjet printing on Si and PDMS substrates, with advancing contact angles of 11° and 35°, respectively, and a zero receding contact angle. It is only possible to achieve stable parallel sided lines within a limited range of drop spacings, and this limiting range for stable line printing decreases as the contact angle of the ink on the substrate increases. The upper bound drop spacing for stable line formation is determined by a minimum drop overlap required to prevent contact line retraction, and the lower bound is governed by competing flows for drop spreading onto an unwetted substrate and a return flow driven by a Laplace pressure difference between the newly deposited drops and the fluid some distance from the growing tip. The upper and lower bounds are shown to be consistent with those predicted using existing models for the stability of inkjet printed lines produced using piezoelectric droplet generators. A comparison with literature data for EHD printed lines finds that these limiting bounds apply with printed line widths as small as 200 nm using subfemtoliter drop volumes. When a fine grid pattern is printed, local differences in Laplace pressure lead to the line width retracting to the minimum stable width and excess ink being transported to the nodes of the grid. After printing and sintering, the printed tracks have a conductivity of about 15%-20% of bulk Ag on the Si substrate, which correlates with a porosity of about 60%.

In this study, the blood test index, demographic data, and health promotion behavior of adolescents were analyzed to provide a reference for early prevention and treatment of physical decline and abnormal biochemical indexes of adolescents. Using a cross-sectional study design, 1,436 valid samples were obtained by stratified random sampling, and the data were processed by SPSS21.0 statistical analysis software. The results showed that the overall health-promoting lifestyle of adolescents was good, and the interpersonal support behavior was the best, and the health responsibility and sports participation behavior were the worst; the interpersonal support and sports participation behavior of adolescents with normal weight were significantly better than those with overweight or light weight, while the overall health-promoting behavior of adolescents with high fasting blood glucose (FBG) before meals was poor, those with high glutamate pyruvate transaminase (GPT) had poor nutritional behavior and health responsibility behavior, while those with high uric acid (UA) had poor interpersonal support and stress coping behavior. The overweight rate and abnormal detection rate of UA and triglyceride (TG) in boys were significantly higher than those in girls, and the higher BMI of teenagers, the higher abnormal detection rate of GPT, UA, and TG, the better nutritional behavior, health responsibility behavior, and sports participation behavior, the lower abnormal detection rate of GPT, UA, and TG; the higher education level of parents, the better teenagers' sports participation and health responsibility behavior, the lower the incidence of overweight, the more time they spend playing online games and drinking sugary drinks on weekdays (or holidays), the higher the incidence of overweight.

Astragalus membranaceus (AM) is a food and medicinal homologous plant. The current research is aimed to investigate the beneficial effects and mechanisms of AM in treating acquired hyperlipidemia. The network pharmacology and bioinformatics analysis results showed 481 AM-related targets and 474 acquired hyperlipidemia-associated targets, and 101 candidate targets were obtained through the intersection, mainly enriched in endocrine resistance, AGE-RAGE in diabetic complications and p53 signaling pathways. Quercetin, kaempferol, calycosin, formononetin and isorhamnetin were determined as the candidate active components of AM in the treatment of acquired hyperlipidemia. Moreover, key targets of AM, namely, AKT serine/threonine kinase 1 (AKT1), vascular endothelial growth factor A (VEGFA), cyclin D1 (CCND1) and estrogen receptor 1 (ESR1), were screened out, which were closely related to adipogenesis, fatty acid metabolism and bile acid metabolism. The subsequent animal experiments showed that AM extract treatment improved the lipid profiles of the high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice by reducing lipogenesis and increasing lipolysis and lipid ß-oxidation, which were associated with the downregulating of AKT1 and CCND1, and the upregulating of VEGFA and ESR1 in liver and adipose tissue. Overall, AM alleviated acquired hyperlipidemia through regulating lipid metabolism, and AKT1, VEGFA, CCND1 and ESR1 might be the key targets.

Liquiritigenin (LQG) is a natural flavonoid from the herb Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch that exhibits multiple biological activities. However, its specific role in antiobesity and its related underlying molecular mechanisms remain unknown. The primary purpose of this study is to explore the effects and regulatory mechanisms of LQG on lipid accumulation in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. The results show that LQG significantly reduced triglyceride levels and downregulated the expression of transcription factors such as CCAAT/enhancer-binding protein α (C/EBPα) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) in 3T3-L1 adipocytes. Additionally, the expression of sterol-regulatory element-binding protein 1c (SREBP1c), acetyl-CoA carboxylase 1 (ACC1), and fatty acid synthase (FASN) involved in lipogenesis was reduced by treatment with LQG. The protein expression levels of light chain 3B (LC3B), autophagy-related protein 7 (ATG7) and p62 were also modulated by LQG, leading to the suppression of autophagy. Further, LQG activated the phosphorylation of the mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR), the inhibition of which was followed by the restored expression of autophagy-related proteins. Pretreatment with an mTOR inhibitor also reverted the expression of several genes or proteins involved in lipid synthesis. These results suggest that LQG inhibited lipid accumulation via mTOR-mediated autophagy in 3T3-L1 white adipocytes, indicating the role of LQG as a potential natural bioactive component for use in dietary supplements for preventing obesity.

PURPOSE: College students' well-being is important for their self-growth and the whole society. However, we still know relatively little about how college students could proactively, strategically improve their well-being in the leisure context. Following the self-determination theory and proactivity literature, this study examines how and when leisure crafting (ie, a proactive act whereby individuals balance their leisure resources and demands by utilizing their personal abilities and needs) can enhance college students' well-being. METHODS: Conducting a quantitative weekly diary study of 80 Chinese students in an engineering college (320 observations), we drew a moderated mediation model. RESULTS: We found that weekly leisure crafting behaviors (ie, seeking structural leisure resources, seeking social leisure resources, seeking leisure challenges, and reducing hindering leisure demands) were positively related to weekly intrinsic need satisfaction (ie, need for competence, autonomy, and relatedness), then resulting in higher weekly subjective well-being (ie, physical thriving, mental health, and life meaningfulness). Moreover, this indirect effect was stronger for those who had a higher level of leisure boredom. CONCLUSION: Our study contributes to student development and well-being literature by focusing on the students' leisure context and providing a means to enhance their well-being. We unfold how the leisure crafting strategy boosts college students' well-being via increasing their intrinsic need satisfaction. We also highlight the compensating role of leisure crafting when one is in an unfavorable personal state (eg, leisure boredom).

As essential transfer carriers for cell-to-cell communication and genetic material, exosomes carry microRNAs that participate in the regulation of various biological processes. MicroRNAs are a type of single-stranded noncoding RNA that bind to specific target gene mRNAs to degrade or inhibit their translation, thereby regulating target gene expression. Although it is known that a variety of microRNAs are involved in the viral infection process, there are few reports on specific microRNAs involved in porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) infection. In this study, we isolated and identified exosomes in PEDV-infected Vero E6 cells. Using transcriptomics technology, we found that miRNA-328-3p was significantly downregulated in exosomes following PEDV infection. Moreover, exosomal miRNA-328-3p inhibited infection by PEDV by targeting and inhibiting tight junction protein 3 (TJP-3/ZO-3) in recipient cells. Our findings provide evidence that, after infecting cells, PEDV downregulates expression of miRNA-328-3p, and the resulting reduced inhibition of the target protein ZO-3 helps to enhance PEDV infection. These results provide new insight for understanding the regulatory mechanism of PEDV infection.
