RESUMO

Advanced solid electrolytes with strong adhesion to other components are the key for the successes of solid-state batteries. Unfortunately, traditional solid electrolytes have to work under high compression to maintain the contact inside owing to their poor adhesion. Here, a concept of high-entropy tape electrolyte (HETE) is proposed to simultaneously achieve tape-like adhesion, liquid-like ion conduction, and separator-like mechanical properties. This HETE is designed with adhesive skin layer on both sides and robust skeleton layer in the middle. The significant properties of the three layers are enabled by high-entropy microstructures which are realized by harnessing polymer-ion interactions. As a result, the HETE shows high ionic conductivity (3.50 ± 0.53 × 10-4 S cm-1 at room temperature), good mechanical properties (toughness 11.28 ± 1.12 MJ m-3, strength 8.18 ± 0.28 MPa), and importantly, tape-like adhesion (interfacial toughness 231.6 ± 9.6 J m-2). Moreover, a compression-free solid-state tape battery is finally demonstrated by adhesion-based assembling, which shows good interfacial and electrochemical stability even under harsh mechanical conditions, such as twisting and bending. The concept of HETE and compression-free solid-state tape batteries may bring promising solutions and inspiration to conquer the interface challenges in solid-state batteries and their manufacturing.

RESUMO

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) modulates RNA metabolism and functions in cell differentiation, tissue development, and immune response. After acute burns, skin wounds are highly susceptible to infection and poor healing. However, our understanding of the effect of burn injuries on m6A methylation and their potential mechanism is still limited. Human m6A-mRNA&lncRNA Epitranscriptomic microarray was used to obtain comprehensive mRNA and lncRNA transcriptome m6A profiling and gene expression patterns after burn injuries in human skin tissue. Bioinformatic and functional analyses were conducted to find molecular functions. Microarray profiling showed that 65 mRNAs and 39 lncRNAs were significantly hypermethylated; 5492 mRNAs and 754 lncRNAs were significantly hypomethylated. Notably, 3989 hypomethylated mRNAs were down-expressed and inhibited many wound healing biological processes and pathways including in the protein catabolic process and supramolecular fiber organization pathway; 39 hypermethylated mRNAs were up-expressed and influenced the cell surface receptor signaling pathway and inflammatory response. Moreover, we validated that m6A regulators (METTL14, METTL16, ALKBH5, FMR1, and HNRNPC) were significantly downregulated after burn injury which may be responsible for the alteration of m6A modification and gene expression. In summary, we found that homeostasis in the skin was disrupted and m6A modification may be a potential mechanism affecting trauma infection and wound healing.

RESUMO

Background: In recent years, the rapid development of digestive endoscopy technology has brought revolutionary changes to endoscopic therapy. A growing number of articles have been published annually. We aimed to explore global scientific outputs and hotspots of endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) published by different countries, organizations, and authors. Methods: We extracted relevant publications from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) on June 23, 2022. We examined the retrieved data by bibliometric analysis (e.g., cocited and cluster analysis, keyword co-occurrence) using the software CiteSpace and VOSviewer to analyze and predict the trends and hot spots in this field. Results: A total of 2,695 papers were finally identified. The results showed that the number of articles fluctuated with the year and reached its peak in 2021. NATIONAL CANCER CENTER JAPAN was the most influential institution. MICHAEL J BOURKE and YUTAKA SAITO are two of the most prolific scholars. ENDOSCOPY and GASTROINTESTINAL ENDOSCOPY were the most productive journals. "Early gastric cancer" and "Barrett's esophagus" were the focus of EMR research. "Adverse events", "cold snare polypectomy" and "outcomes" have become increasingly popular in recent years and could become hot spots in the future. Conclusion: In this study, we summarized the characteristics of the publications; identified the most influential countries, institutions, and journals; and identified the leading topics in the EMR field.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: Edelson classification is a 3D classification of proximal humeral fractures, but there is a scarcity of application of this classification in large samples, and the accuracy of classification was also not testified. The objective of this research was to verify whether a revised Edelson classification produces satisfactory agreement for proximal humeral fracture classification in adult patients. METHODS: A total of 827 proximal humeral fractures (304 male and 520 female patients, 58.0 ± 16.2 years) were found retrospectively from January 2014 to December 2019, and classified according to the traditional and newly proposed Edelson classification. The three-dimensional CT images were processed, rotated and visualized within software. Five shoulder surgeons classified each fracture. After data collection, radiographic classifications results were compared by inter- and intraobserver analysis with the method of weighted kappa coefficients. Fracture classification based on Edelson and revised Edelson classification was presented and compared. RESULTS: The mean k value for the interobserver reliability was 0.748 (range, 0.583 to 0.958) compared with Edelson classification (0.548, range, 0.48 to 0.635), indicating satisfactory agreement. The mean k value for intraobserver reliability was 0.906 (range, 0.823 to 0.943) compared with Edelson classification (0.762, range, 0.666 to 0.808), indicating excellent agreement when using the newly revised Edelson classification. The mechanism was categorized as the shoulder being in a position of forward flexion, abduction, and internal rotation in Edelson I-IV and bicipital fractures. For the greater tuberosity fracture, the mechanism was classified into two mechanisms based on the presence of a combined dislocation. Bicipital groove fracture is a commonly observed fracture pattern, and included in the revised Edelson classification. CONCLUSIONS: The revised Edelson classification proposed was more in line with the injury mechanism of the fracture, was beneficial in identifying more fracture types such as bicipital groove fracture, and verified to be a good proximal humeral fracture classification with good reliability compared with the traditional Edelson classification.

RESUMO

Discoveries made in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans revealed that aging is under genetic control. Since these transformative initial studies, C. elegans has become a premier model system for aging research. Critically, the genes, pathways, and processes that have fundamental roles in organismal aging are deeply conserved throughout evolution. This conservation has led to a wealth of knowledge regarding both the processes that influence aging and the identification of molecular and cellular hallmarks that play a causative role in the physiological decline of organisms. One key feature of age-associated decline is the failure of mechanisms that maintain proper function of the proteome (proteostasis). Here we highlight components of the proteostatic network that act to maintain the proteome and how this network integrates into major longevity signaling pathways. We focus in depth on the heat shock transcription factor 1 (HSF1), the central regulator of gene expression for proteins that maintain the cytosolic and nuclear proteomes, and a key effector of longevity signals.

RESUMO

Plant-originated triterpenes are important insecticidal molecules. The research on insecticidal activity of molecules from Meliaceae plants has always received attention due to the molecules from this family showing a variety of insecticidal activities with diverse mechanisms of action. In this paper, we discuss 102 triterpenoid molecules with insecticidal activity of plants of eight genera (Aglaia, Aphanamixis, Azadirachta, Cabralea, Carapa, Cedrela, Chisocheton, and Chukrasia) in Meliaceae. In total, 19 insecticidal plant species are presented. Among these species, Azadirachta indica A. Juss is the most well-known insecticidal plant and azadirachtin is the active molecule most widely recognized and highly effective botanical insecticide. However, it is noteworthy that six species from Cedrela were reported to show insecticidal activity and deserve future study. In this paper, a total of 102 insecticidal molecules are summarized, including 96 nortriterpenes, 4 tetracyclic triterpenes, and 2 pentacyclic triterpenes. Results showed antifeedant activity, growth inhibition activity, poisonous activity, or other activities. Among them, 43 molecules from 15 plant species showed antifeedant activity against 16 insect species, 49 molecules from 14 plant species exhibited poisonous activity on 10 insect species, and 19 molecules from 11 plant species possessed growth regulatory activity on 12 insect species. Among these molecules, azadirachtins were found to be the most successful botanical insecticides. Still, other molecules possessed more than one type of obvious activity, including 7-deacetylgedunin, salannin, gedunin, azadirone, salannol, azadiradione, and methyl angolensate. Most of these molecules are only in the primary stage of study activity; their mechanism of action and structure-activity relationship warrant further study.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the long-term clinical outcomes between the total patellectomy and osteosynthesis with tension band wiring in patients with highly comminuted patella fractures. METHODS: Between January 1987 and December 2003, this retrospective study included a total of 35 patients (mean age, 51.4±16.8 years) with a minimum of 10 years follow-up period, comprising 29 males and 6 females, who were divided into the total patellectomy group (17 patients) or the open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) group (18 patients) in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Hebei Medical University. We retrospectively collected patient demographics and data on the type of trauma, fracture type, and postoperative complications. Clinical outcomes including knee range of motion (ROM), 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) score [including physical component score (PCS) and mental component score (MCS)], Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), and Kujala score were evaluated and compared between the two groups. Biodex System dynamometer was used to quantitatively evaluate quadriceps femoris muscle power following measurement of peak torque. RESULTS: The mean follow-up periods of the total patellectomy group and the ORIF group were 17.2±5.6 and 16.8±4.9 years, respectively. There were no significant differences between the two groups of patient demographics in terms of the number of patients, age, sex, injury side, time to surgery, type of trauma, and fracture classification (p>0.05). Total patellectomy was comparable to osteosynthesis with tension band wiring in terms of ROM [injured knee: 120.4±3.1° vs 118.6±3.3°; uninjured knee: 126.5±2.8° vs 127.3±1.7°; both p>0.05], peak torque [Injured knee: 96.2±2.3 vs 97.3±2.6, N· m; Uninjured knee: 107.6±2.1 vs 106.3±1.8, N· m; both p>0.05], SF-36 score [PCS: 64.1±18.0 vs 61.5±17.9; MCS: 55.1±13.8 vs 54.3±12.4; both p>0.05], KOOS score [76.3±12.1 vs 73.4±11.7; p>0.05], and Kujala score [67.6±11.8 vs 70.8±11.9; p>0.05] at the final follow-up, while total patellectomy had significantly shorter operation time than ORIF group (47.5±12.1 vs 68.8±22.3, min, p<0.05). In the total patellectomy group, complications occurred in 6 of 17 cases (35.3%), and all occurred with calcification. In the ORIF group, complications occurred in 12 of 18 cases (66.7%), including 2 cases of infection (11.1%), 1 case of non-union (5.6%), 2 cases of implant failure (11.1%), 2 cases of soft tissue irritation (11.1%), and 5 cases of patellofemoral arthritis (27.8%). CONCLUSIONS: Total patellectomy technique was a safe and reliable alternative treatment for treating patients with highly comminuted patella fractures when anatomically reduction and rigid fixation were difficult, although it caused relatively higher rates of calcification.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long-term clinical and radiographic outcomes of partial patellectomy (PP) in patients with patella comminuted distal pole fractures. METHODS: Seventeen patients who were diagnosed with patella comminuted distal pole fractures and underwent PP procedures were retrospectively included between January 1995 and January 2005. We collected patient demographics and data on the mechanism of injury, time to surgery, fracture type, follow-up time, and post-operative complications (infection, patellofemoral arthritis, and stiffness). At the final follow-up, functional outcome was evaluated by the range of motion (ROM) and the Bostman Scoring System. Quadriceps strength was evaluated by using an isokinetic dynamometer to measure peak torque, and patellar height was evaluated by the Insall-Salvati (IS) ratio in lateral knee radiographs. The average follow-up period was 14.6 years (range, 11-19 years). RESULTS: We analyzed 17 patients (AO/OTA 34-A1), with an average age of 59.8 years (range, 43-76 years). According to the Bostman grading scales, final functional outcomes were excellent in 11 (64.7%) and good in six (35.3%) patients. All patients had full knee extension, and the average ROM was 125.1° (range, 121.4-129.3°). The average peak torque of the injured knee was 103.2 ± 9.7 Nm, and that of the uninjured opposite side was 108.3 ± 7.6 Nm, with no significant difference (p > 0.05). Furthermore, no postoperative complications, such as infection, posttraumatic osteoarthritis, or stiffness, were observed. Compared to the uninjured knee, the IS ratio of the injured knee was 0.76 ± 0.13, indicating that the patellar height was decreased, which meant patella baja. CONCLUSIONS: The PP procedure for patella comminuted distal pole fractures is a safe, simple, and reliable technique that can provide good long-term clinical outcomes even with decreased patellar height and could be a satisfactory alternative treatment option when anatomical reduction is difficult.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate and analyze the potential relationship between periosteal reaction and medial compartment knee osteoarthritis (KOA), and to assess the independent risk factors for the development of periosteal reaction associated with medial compartment KOA. METHODS: This is a retrospective comparative study. From January 2019 to December 2019 at the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University, a total of 363 patients (726 knees) with medial compartment KOA were enrolled in this study according to our inclusion and exclusion criteria, including 91 males and 272 females, with an mean age of 57.9 ± 12.8 years (range, 18-82 years). Among these patients, 206 patients (412 knees) were allocated to the periosteal reaction group (44 males and 162 females) and 157 patients (314 knees) were allocated to the non-periosteal reaction group (47 males and 110 females). The classification of KOA severity was based on Kellgren and Lawrence (K-L) grading system. The malalignment of the lower extremities in coronal plane was evaluated as medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA), hip-knee-ankle angle (HKA), and lateral distal femoral angle (LDFA). Patients demographics and radiographic parameters were recorded in the two groups. Intra-observer and inter-observer reliabilities of all radiological measurements were analyzed by intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). Univariate analyses were conducted for comparison of differences with continuous variables between patients with periosteal reaction and without periosteal reaction. Multivariate logistical regression analysis was performed to determine the independent risk factors of radiographic parameters for periosteal reaction. RESULTS: The overall incidence of periosteal reaction associated with medial compartment KOA was 56.7%. Furthermore, we observed that the incidence of periosteal reaction significantly increased with age and correlated with K-L grade progression (P < 0.05). There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups. In the multivariate logistical regression analysis, HKA and JLCA were identified as independent risk factors of the development of periosteal reaction in patients with medial compartment KOA (odds ratio [OR], 0.594; 95% confidence interval [CI] 0.544-0.648; P < 0.05; OR, 0.851; 95% confidence interval CI 0.737-0.983; P < 0.05; respectively), with other radiographic parameters including MTPA (OR 0.959; 95% CI 0.511-0.648; P > 0.05), LDFA (OR 0.990; 95% CI 0.899-1.089; P > 0.05), and JSW (OR 1.005; 95% CI 0.865-1.167; P > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: In this retrospective study, patients with lower HKA and higher JLCA were identified as independent risk factors for the development of periosteal reaction, which occurred most commonly adjacent to the lateral of proximal tibia diaphysis, and thus we concluded that periosteal reaction may be an anatomical adaptation for medial compartment KOA based upon these results.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate and compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes of proximal fibular osteotomy (PFO) in treating medial knee osteoarthritis (KOA) patients with upper fibular curvature and non-curvature. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was performed. From January 2016 to January 2017, a total of 51 patients (nine males and 42 females) at a mean age of 63.7 years (range 48-79 years) with medial KOA who underwent PFO procedure at the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University were included in the study. The patients were divided into the two groups, namely curvature group (28 patients, six males and 22 females, aged 62.6 ± 7.7 years) and non-curvature group (23 patients, three males and 20 females, aged 64.5 ± 7.6 years). Perioperative parameters and Kellgren-Lawrence classification were recorded and analyzed in the two groups, respectively. All patients were followed up at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months at the first year of post-operation, and then every 6 months from the second year of post-operation. A telephone survey with standard questionnaire survey, including Visual Analog Scale (VAS) score and Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) scoring system, was used to evaluate postoperative clinical outcomes. Radiological results were assessed using the femorotibial angle (FTA), hip-knee-ankle angle (HKA), and settlement value of medial tibial platform (MTP) in the two groups. RESULTS: The average follow-up periods of the curvature group and the non-curvature group were 34.8 ± 6.1 and 33.9 ± 5.4 months, respectively. There were no significant differences between the two groups of demographic data in terms of number of patients, age, body mass index (BMI), gender, KOA side, and Kellgren-Lawrence classification (P > 0.05). The VAS scores of the curvature group and non-curvature group were (3.53 ± 1.62 vs 3.68 ± 1.43 at 1 month, 3.46 ± 0.79 vs 3.57 ± 0.66 at 3 months, and 2.43 ± 0.88 vs 2.83 ± 0.94 at 6 months, both P > 0.05), while significant differences were found from 12 months post-operation (1.54 ± 0.72 vs 2.03 ± 0.85 at 12 months, and 1.04 ± 0.69 vs 1.74 ± 0.75 at 24 months, both P < 0.05). The HSS scores of the curvature group and non-curvature group were (79.67 ± 5.14 vs 78.25 ± 6.37 at 1 month, 84.65 ± 3.76 vs 83.18 ± 3.64 at 3 months, and 86.27 ± 3.13 vs 85.49 ± 3.25 at 6 months, both P > 0.05), while significant differences were found from 12 months post-operation (90.64 ± 4.32 vs 87.71 ± 5.63 at 12 months, and 92.93 ± 2.07 vs 90.06 ± 2.08 at 24 months, both P < 0.05). In addition, the FTA and settlement value of the curvature group were lower than the non-curvature group (177.18 ± 1.52 vs 178.35 ± 1.86, and 5.29 ± 1.74 vs 6.49 ± 2.09, both P < 0.05) while the HKA were higher than the non-curvature group (175.32 ± 2.34 vs 173.83 ± 2.64, P < 0.05) at the final follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Medial KOA patients with upper fibular curvature is an optimal surgical indication for PFO surgery, with the advantages of pain relief, better functional recovery, and alignment correction.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Lateral tibial plateau fractures (TPFs) are often treated with conventional open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) through standard anterolateral sub-meniscal arthrotomy. There has been increasing support for "bidirectional rapid redactor" device-assisted closed reduction and internal fixation (CRIF) for treating TPFs. The aim of the present study is to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes between CRIF and ORIF procedures. METHODS: We performed a retrospective cohort study of 55 lateral TPF patients (Schatzker types I-III) who accepted surgical treatment at our trauma level 1 center between January 2016 and January 2018. They were divided into the CRIF group (32 patients) and the ORIF group (23 patients) based upon the different surgical protocols. The patients' clinical outcome analysis was evaluated by using the Knee Society Score (KSS) and Rasmussen's clinical score. For radiological assessment, changes in tibial plateau width (TPW), articular depression depth (ADD), medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA), and posterior tibial slope angle (PTSA) were evaluated using radiographs and computed tomography (CT) scan. RESULTS: The CRIF group had a mean follow-up of 28.9 months, and the ORIF group had a mean follow-up of 30.7 months (p>0.05). Furthermore, there was no statistically significant difference in terms of age, gender, injury mechanism, follow-up time, time interval from injury to surgery, and Schatzker classification in the two groups. With respect to the clinical outcomes including the KSS score and Rasmussen's clinical score, there was also no significant difference (p>0.05). Nevertheless, the CRIF group had lower intra-operative blood loss, shorter hospitalization days, and better range of movement of the knee joint than the ORIF group (p<0.05). Furthermore, CRIF had better radiological results when compared to the ORIF group using Rasmussen's radiological score (p<0.05), although no significant difference was observed in TPW, ADD, MPTA, and PTSA between the two groups (p>0.05). CONCLUSION: The present study showed that CRIF could achieve comparable clinical outcomes and better radiological results for treating lateral TPFs as compared with conventional ORIF.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Berberine is a herbicidal chemical that we isolated from Coptis chinensis. In continuation of our program aimed at discovering and developing natural botanical herbicides, we evaluated the herbicidal activities of 39 berberine analogues and developed a three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationship (3D-QSAR) model. RESULTS: Among these 39 analogs, the most active compounds were determined to be worenine chloride and coptisine chloride, with median inhibitory concentration (IC50 ) values on all eight tested weed species of < 10 mg L-1 . As a reference, the IC50 values of berberine on six weed species were < 10 mg L-1 . Furthermore, the results of a greenhouse experiment showed that at 10 mg L-1 , and 7 days after treatment, the effects of worenine chloride and coptisine chloride on Lemna minor and Ageratum conyzoides were significantly higher than those of glyphosate and sulcotrione. In the 3D-QSAR analysis, the electrostatic field contour map indicated that introducing an electropositive group in the N-7, C-9 and C-10 positions would potentially improve the inhibition rate. A positively charged nitrogen atom at the N-7 position was important for activity. Replacement of -OCH3 by -OH at the C-9 and C-10 positions could decrease the inhibitory activity, while the hydrophobic field contour map revealed that the hydrophobicity of the C-10 position was associated with high activity. Moreover, the hydrogen bond acceptor field contour map suggested that the existence of a hydrogen bond acceptor at the C-3 and C-9 positions might affect the inhibition rate. CONCLUSIONS: 3D-QSAR provided meaningful clues to the structural features of berberine analogues that will assist the design of more potent herbicidal compounds in the future. © 2020 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

Epithelial tissues form the boundaries of organs, where they perform a range of functions, including secretion, absorption, and protection. These tissues are commonly composed of discrete cell layers-sheets of cells that are one-cell thick. In multiple systems examined, epithelial cells round up and move in the apical direction before dividing, likely in response to neighbor-cell crowding [1-6]. Because of this movement, daughter cells may be born displaced from the tissue layer. Reintegration of these displaced cells supports tissue growth and maintains tissue architecture [4]. Two conserved IgCAMs (immunoglobulin superfamily cell adhesion molecules), neuroglian (Nrg) and fasciclin 2 (Fas2), participate in cell reintegration in the Drosophila follicular epithelium [4]. Like their vertebrate orthologs L1CAM and NCAM1/2, respectively, Nrg and Fas2 are cell adhesion molecules primarily studied in the context of nervous system development [7-10]. Consistent with this, we identify another neural IgCAM, Fasciclin 3 (Fas3), as a reintegration factor. Nrg, Fas2, and Fas3 are components of the insect septate junction, the functional equivalent of the vertebrate tight junction, but proliferating follicle cells do not have mature septate junctions, and we find that the septate junction protein neurexin IV does not participate in reintegration [11, 12]. Here, we show that epithelial reintegration works in the same way as IgCAM-mediated axon growth and pathfinding; it relies not only on extracellular adhesion but also mechanical coupling between IgCAMs and the lateral spectrin-based membrane skeleton. Our work indicates that reintegration is mediated by a distinct epithelial adhesion assembly that is compositionally and functionally equivalent to junctions made between axons.

RESUMO

Taiwania flousiana (T. flousiana) Gaussen is a precious wood in the family Taxodiaceae. This study investigated the chemical components of the essential oil from the stem bark of T. flousiana and its algicidal, antifungal, and antioxidant properties. Sixty-nine compounds representing 89.70% of the stem bark essential oil were identified by GC-MS. The essential oil showed strong anti-algae, anti-bacteria, and anti-fungus activities against the tested species, and antioxidant activities. The IC50 values of the essential oil against chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, and the total chlorophyll of Spirogyra communis (a species of algae), 24-96 h after the treatment, ranged from 31.77 to 84.92 µg/mL, while the IC50 values of butachlor ranged from 40.24 to 58.09 µg/mL. Ultrastructure changes revealed by the transmission electron microscopy indicated that the main algicidal action sites were the chloroplast and cell wall. The essential oil showed antifungal activities on Rhizoctonia solani (EC50 = 287.94 µg/mL) and Colletotrichum gloeosporioiles (EC50 = 378.90 µg/mL). It also showed bactericidal activities on Ralstonia solanacearum and Staphylococcus aureus, with zones of inhibition (ZOIs) being 18.66 and 16.75 mm, respectively at 40 µg/disk. Additionally, the essential oil possessed antioxidant activity estimated by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method (IC50 = 33.51 µg/mL; IC50 value of the positive control ascorbic acid was 7.98 µg/mL). Thus, the essential oil of this plant might be used as a possible source of natural bioactive molecules in agrochemical industry as well as in food and cosmetic industries.

RESUMO

In this work, a high integrated water detection system comprised a miniaturized and high precision homemade colorimeter, a microfluidic analysis module and a wireless module was reported. A reagent reaction based on the ammonium molybdate spectrophotometric method was recorded for the estimation of phosphate in natural water. A laser self-modulating module of 880 nm was used as the radiation source. A microfluidic chip was employed to fit the colorimeter with an optimized micro flow path for low liquid consumption and high precision detection. The wireless module consisted of two parts, using ZigBee and GSM modules to realize short and remote displaying and controlling. Applying a novel optimized algorithm, a wide linear response was obtained ranging from 0.02 up to 9.5 mg L-1. The optimization of colorimeterare mainly in the core detection part, allowing an improvement of the detection limit, achieving a result of 0.009 mg L-1. A low reagent consumption of 0.004 mg ascorbic acid and 0.011 mg ammonium molybdate for per determination was attained. Experimental results have also shown that the system could maintain good stability among broad room temperature changing from 17 °C to 35 °C with less energy consumption. The miniaturized colorimeter-based water detection system opens new avenue for operating in remote distance to get high precision measurements of phosphate in natural water.

RESUMO

In recent years, flexible light-emitting devices (LEDs) have become the main focus in the field of display technology. Graphene, a two-dimensional layered material, has attracted great interest in LEDs due to its excellent properties. However, there are many problems such as efficiency, lifetime, and flexibility not well solved. Herein, we have successfully prepared a flexible LED using laser-induced reduced graphene oxide (LIRGO). The LIRGO LED achieves a luminescence lifetime of over 60 hours and a wall plug efficiency of up to 1.4% in a vacuum environment of 0.02 Pa. There are many small luminescent spots randomly distributed on 3.5 × 5 mm2 of LIRGO. LIRGO's luminous behavior can be controlled by modifying the supply voltage and laser reduction intensity. We also explore LIRGO's applications by testing it in different packages and customizable bulbs. Furthermore, as an interesting demo, the LIRGO device can be used to mimic constellations with visual shapes. This work demonstrates LIRGO's great potential in many fields, such as flexible and miniature light sources and displays.

RESUMO

Water quality detection plays an increasingly important role in environmental protection. In this work, a novel colorimeter based on the Beer-Lambert law was designed for chemical element detection in water with high precision and miniaturized structure. As an example, the colorimeter can detect phosphorus, which was accomplished in this article to evaluate the performance. Simultaneously, a modified algorithm was applied to extend the linear measurable range. The colorimeter encompassed a near infrared laser source, a microflow cell based on microfluidic technology and a light-sensitive detector, then Micro-Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) processing technology was used to form a stable integrated structure. Experiments were performed based on the ammonium molybdate spectrophotometric method, including the preparation of phosphorus standard solution, reducing agent, chromogenic agent and color reaction. The device can obtain a wide linear response range (0.05 mg/L up to 7.60 mg/L), a wide reliable measuring range up to 10.16 mg/L after using a novel algorithm, and a low limit of detection (0.02 mg/L). The size of flow cell in this design is 18 mm × 2.0 mm × 800 µm, obtaining a low reagent consumption of 0.004 mg ascorbic acid and 0.011 mg ammonium molybdate per determination. Achieving these advantages of miniaturized volume, high precision and low cost, the design can also be used in automated in situ detection.

RESUMO

Sinocyclocheilus oxycephalus is a freshwater cyprinid fish of high nutritional value, endemic to Shilin County, Southwestern China. In this study, we first sequenced the complete mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) of S. oxycephalus. The whole length of mitogenome is 16,585 bp, which contains 13 protein-coding genes, two ribosomal RNA genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and a control region. The gene arrangement and structure is identical to other previously reported Sinocyclocheilus fishes. The overall base composition is 31.26% A, 16.42% G, 25.41% T and 26.90% C, with AT content of 56.67%. Phylogenetic analysis using mitogenomes of 13 cyprinid fishes showed that S. oxycephalus are closely related to S. anophthalmus, S. grahami, and S. wumengshanensis, and 11 Sinocyclocheilus species are grouped as a monophyletic clade with strong supports.
