RESUMO

Somatostatin (SST) is an inhibitory polypeptide hormone that plays an important role in a variety of biological processes. Somatostatin receptor 2 (SSTR2) is the most widely expressed somatostatin receptor. However, the specific cell types expressing Sstr2 in the tissues have not been investigated. In this study, we detected the expression pattern of SSTR2 protein in mouse at different development stages, including the embryonic 15.5 days and the postnatal 1, 7, 15 days as well as 3 and 6 months, by multicolour immunofluorescence analyses. We found that Sstr2 was expressed in some specific cells types of several tissues, including the neuronal cells and astrocytes in the brain, the mesenchymal cells, the hematopoietic cells, the early hematopoietic stem cells, and the B cells in the bone marrow, the macrophages, the type Ⅱ alveolar epithelial cells, and the airway ciliated cells in the lung, the epithelial cells and the neuronal cells in the intestine, the hair follicle cells, the gastric epithelial cells, the hematopoietic stem cells and the nerve fibre in the spleen, and the tubular epithelial cells in the kidney. This study identified the specific cell types expressing Sstr2 in mouse at different developmental stages, providing new insights into the physiological function of SST and SSTR2 in several cell types.

RESUMO

Objective:To compare the content of amino acid in female and male plants of Trichosanthes kirilowii. Methods:Total protein was hydrolyzed by hydrochloric acid, and then determined by HPLC. Results:The percentage of amino acid in female and male plants of Trichosanthes kirilowii was 7. 35% and 7. 04%, respectively. Conclusion:The method provides a new idea for the determi-nation of amino acid in the root of Trichosanthes kirilowii. The total amino acid content in the root of male plants is lower than that of fe-male plants, while the content of alkaline amino acid is opposite. The content of histidine in male plants is about twice as much as that in female plants. The essential amino acid content has no significant difference.

RESUMO

Objective:To compare the contents of polysaccharide and protein in male and female Trichosanthis Radix to provide reasonable explanation for that male plant was better. Methods:Polysaccharides in Trichosanthis Radix were obtained by water-extrac-tion and ethanol-precipitation method, and the content was determined by anthrone-sulfuric acid method. Tichosanthin ( TCS) was ob-tained by hydrochloric acid extraction and acetone precipitation. Based on the light absorption of Coomassie brilliant blue G-250 com-bined with proteins, the content of TCS was detected. Results: The polysaccharides content in male and female Trichosanthis Radix was 2. 628% and 3. 237%, TCS content was 0. 193% and 0. 280%, respectively. Conclusion: The contents of polysaccharides and TCS in male plant are higher than those in female plant. The male plant is a better source for Trichosanthis Radix.

RESUMO

Objective To investigate the prevalence of nutritional risk,malnutrition(undemutrition),overweight/obesity,and application of nutritional support in hospitalized patients with endocrine disorders. Methods Adult patients in Department of Endocrine of Peking Union Medical College Hospital(PUMCH)from September to December 2008 were consecutively enrolled.Nutrional Risk Screening 2002(NRS2002)war per-formed on the next morning after admission and nutritional support evaluation was performed on the 14th day of ad-mission or on the discharge day.The relationship between nutritional risk and nutritional support Was analyzed.Nu-tritional risk was defined as NRS2002 score≥3,and body mass index(BMI)<18.5 ks/m2 defined as unclernut-rition.Results A total of 152 patients were enroled, and NBS2002 scoring was performed in all patients. The prevalence of undernutrition Was 7.9%and the nutritional risk was 27.6%.The prevalence of nutritional risk in the elderly inpotients(≥60 years old)was significantly higher than in younger patients(18-59 years old)(36.8%vs 20.2%,P=O.023).Nine patients(21.4%)with NRS2002≥3 received nutrition support, and 12patients(10.9%)with NRS2002<3 received nutritional support. The average PN:EN ratio was 1:3.2.Conclu-siom NRS2002 is afeasible nutritional risk screening tool for inpatients with endocrine disorders.A large propor-tion of inpotients were at nutritional risk or undemutrition in the Department of Endocrine of PUMCH. The application of nutritional support currently is somehow inappropriate.Evidence-based guidelines are required to improve this situation

RESUMO

Objective:To probe the mechanism of inhibition in gap junction-mediated intercellular communication (GJIC) of rabbit lens epithelia cells(RLECs) irradiated by UVA. Methods:RLECs of 2~3 generation were divided into normal control group and ultraviolet irradiation group (The UV intensity was 0.2 mW/cm2 under a UV lamp with fixed position 50 cm, RLECs were exposed to ultraviolet lamp at different times: 5,10,15 minutes). Western blot techniques were employed to detect the protein levels of Cx43 irradiated by UVA. By indirect immunofluorescence histochemistry we analyzed the localization of Cx43 in the RLECs. Results:In UVA irradiation group and normal control group, there was expression of Cx43. With the increasing intensity, the expression of Cx43 was decreasing. The immunnostaining of Cx43 in RLECs revealed that the internalization of Cx43 from membrance to plasma and nuclear was found in UVA irradiated RLECs. Conclusion: Cell molecule level study proved UVA irradiation can reduce GJIC of RLECs,which wis associated with perturbations in localization and number of Cx43 among RLECs.
