RESUMO

Direct methane conversion to value-added oxygenates under mild conditions with in-depth mechanism investigation has attracted wide interest. Inspired by methane monooxygenase, the K9Na2Fe(H2O)2{[γ-SiW9O34Fe(H2O)]}2·25H2O polyoxometalate (Fe-POM) with well-defined Fe(H2O)2 sites is synthesized to clarify the key role of Fe species and their microenvironment towards CH4 photooxidation. The Fe-POM can efficiently drive the conversion of CH4 to HCOOH with a yield of 1570.0 µmol gPOM -1 and 95.8% selectivity at ambient conditions, much superior to that of [Fe(H2O)SiW11O39]5- with Fe(H2O) active site, [Fe2SiW10O38(OH)]2 14- and [P8W48O184Fe16(OH)28(H2O)4]20- with multi-nuclear Fe-OH-Fe active sites. Single-dispersion of Fe-POM on polymeric carbon nitride (PCN) is facilely achieved to provide single-cluster functionalized PCN with well-defined Fe(H2O)2 site, the HCOOH yield can be improved to 5981.3 µmol gPOM -1. Systemic investigations demonstrate that the (WO)4-Fe(H2O)2 can supply Fe = O active center for C-H activation via forming (WO)4-Fea-Ot···CH4 intermediate, similar to that for CH4 oxidation in the monooxygenase. This work highlights a promising and facile strategy for single dispersion of 1 ∼ 2 Å metal center with precise coordination microenvironment by uniformly anchoring nanoscale molecular clusters, which provides a well-defined model for in-depth mechanism research. RESUMO

The research used polyethersulfone (PES) as a membrane material, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) k30 and polyethylene glycol 400 (PEG 400) as water-soluble additives, and dimethylacetamide (DMAc) as a solvent to prepare hollow-fiber ultrafiltration membranes through a nonsolvent-induced phase separation (NIPS) process. The hydrophilic nature of PVP-k30 and PEG caused them to accumulate on the membrane surface during phase separation. The morphology, chemical composition, surface charge, and pore size of the PES membranes were evaluated by SEM, FTIR, zeta potential, and dextran filtration experiments. The paper also investigated how different spinning solution compositions affected membrane morphology and performance. The separation efficiency of membranes with four different morphologies was tested in single-protein and double-protein mixed solutions. The protein separation effectiveness of the membrane was studied through molecular weight cutoff, zeta potential, and static protein adsorption tests. In addition, the operating pressure and pH value were adjusted to improve ultrafiltration process conditions. The PES membrane with an intact sponge-like structure showed the highest separation factor of 11, making it a prime candidate membrane for the separation of bovine serum albumin (BSA) and lysozyme (LYS). The membrane had a minimal static protein adsorption capacity of 48 mg/cm2 and had excellent anti-fouling properties. When pH = 4, the BSA retention rate was 93% and the LYS retention rate was 23%. Furthermore, it exhibited excellent stability over a pH range of 1-13, confirming its suitability for protein separation applications.

RESUMO

Contrastive learning (CL) has emerged as a powerful approach for self-supervised learning. However, it suffers from sampling bias, which hinders its performance. While the mainstream solutions, hard negative mining (HNM) and supervised CL (SCL), have been proposed to mitigate this critical issue, they do not effectively address graph CL (GCL). To address it, we propose graph positive sampling (GPS) and three contrastive objectives. The former is a novel learning paradigm designed to leverage the inherent properties of graphs for improved GCL models, which utilizes four complementary similarity measurements, including node centrality, topological distance, neighborhood overlapping, and semantic distance, to select positive counterparts for each node. Notably, GPS operates without relying on true labels and enables preprocessing applications. The latter aims to fuse positive samples and enhance representative selection in the semantic space. We release three node-level models with GPS and conduct extensive experiments on public datasets. The results demonstrate the superiority of GPS over state-of-the-art (SOTA) baselines and debiasing methods. In addition, the GPS has also been proven to be versatile, adaptive, and flexible.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the impact of sarcopenia on the 10-year risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) among individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods: This study included the clinical, laboratory, and body composition data of 1491 patients with T2DM who were admitted to the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at Tianjin Union Medical Center from July 2018 to July 2023. The China-PAR model was utilized to evaluate cardiovascular disease risk. Associations between ASCVD risk and various clinical parameters were analyzed, and the relationship between body composition parameters and ASCVD risk was assessed using logistic regression. Results: The analysis revealed that T2DM patients with sarcopenia had a higher 10-year ASCVD risk compared to those without sarcopenia, with reduced muscle mass independently predicting an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. This association was significant among female T2DM patients, while male T2DM patients with sarcopenia showed a marginally higher median ASCVD risk compared to their non-sarcopenic counterparts. ASCVD risk inversely correlated with body muscle parameters and positively correlated with fat content parameters. Specifically, height- and weight-adjusted fat mass (FM, FM%, FMI) were identified as risk factors for ASCVD. Conversely, muscle parameters adjusted for weight and fat (ASM%, SMM%, FFM%, ASM/FM, SMM/FM, FMM/FM) were protective against ASCVD risk. These findings highlight the critical role of sarcopenia in influencing cardiovascular disease risk among Chinese patients with T2DM, as predicted by the China-PAR model. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of sarcopenia in T2DM patients, not only as an indicator of ASCVD risk, but possibly as an independent risk factor in this demographics.

RESUMO

Solar-driven CO2 reduction and water oxidation to liquid fuels represents a promising solution to alleviate energy crisis and climate issue, but it remains a great challenge for generating CH3OH and CH3CH2OH dominated by multi-electron transfer. Single-cluster catalysts with super electron acceptance, accurate molecular structure, customizable electronic structure and multiple adsorption sites, have led to greater potential in catalyzing various challenging reactions. However, accurately controlling the number and arrangement of clusters on functional supports still faces great challenge. Herein, we develop a facile electrosynthesis method to uniformly disperse Wells-Dawson- and Keggin-type polyoxometalates on TiO2 nanotube arrays, resulting in a series of single-cluster functionalized catalysts P2M18O62@TiO2 and PM12O40@TiO2 (M = Mo or W). The single polyoxometalate cluster can be distinctly identified and serves as electronic sponge to accept electrons from excited TiO2 for enhancing surface-hole concentration and promote water oxidation. Among these samples, P2Mo18O62@TiO2-1 exhibits the highest electron consumption rate of 1260 µmol g-1 for CO2-to-CH3OH conversion with H2O as the electron source, which is 11 times higher than that of isolated TiO2 nanotube arrays. This work supplied a simple synthesis method to realize the single-dispersion of molecular cluster to enrich surface-reaching holes on TiO2, thereby facilitating water oxidation and CO2 reduction.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The results of current studies on metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)-related diseases, cognition and dementia are inconsistent. This study aimed to elucidate the effects of MASLD-related diseases on cognition and dementia. METHODS: By using single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with different traits of NAFLD (chronically elevated serum alanine aminotransferase levels [cALT], imaging-accessed and biopsy-proven NAFLD), metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis, and liver fibrosis and cirrhosis, we employed three methods of mendelian randomization (MR) analysis (inverse-variance weighted [IVW], weighted median, and MR-Egger) to determine the causal relationships between MASLD-related diseases and cognition and dementia. We used Cochran's Q test to examine the heterogeneity, and MR-PRESSO was used to identify outliers (NbDistribution = 10000). The horizontal pleiotropy was evaluated using the MR-Egger intercept test. A leave-one-out analysis was used to assess the impact of individual SNP on the overall MR results. We also repeated the MR analysis after excluding SNPs associated with confounding factors. RESULTS: The results of MR analysis suggested positive causal associations between MASLD confirmed by liver biopsy (p of IVW = 0.020, OR = 1.660, 95%CI = 1.082-2.546) and liver fibrosis and cirrhosis (p of IVW = 0.009, OR = 1.849, 95%CI = 1.169-2.922) with vascular dementia (VD). However, there was no evidence of a causal link between MASLD-related diseases and cognitive performance and other types of dementia (any dementia, Alzheimer's disease, dementia with lewy bodies, and frontotemporal dementia). Sensitivity tests supported the robustness of the results. CONCLUSIONS: This two-sample MR analysis suggests that genetically predicted MASLD and liver fibrosis and cirrhosis may increase the VD risk. Nonetheless, the causal effects of NAFLD-related diseases on VD need more in-depth research.

RESUMO

The electrochemical conversion of CO2 into controllable syngas (CO/H2) over a wide potential range is challenging. The main electrocatalysts are based on the noble metals Au (Ag) or heavy metal Pb. The development of alternative nonprecious catalysts is of paramount importance for practice. In this work, a simple coordination confined thermal pyrolysis method has been developed for the synthesis of Ni single-atom catalyst loaded onto nitrogen-doped commercial carbon. The catalyst is in the form of NiN3-C, which exhibits a high-performance electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 toward producing syngas with Faraday efficiencies of 62.28% of CO and 36.7% of H2. The Gibbs free energies of COOH* and H* on the NiN3-C structure were estimated by using density functional theory (DFT). The formation of COOH* intermediate is the speed-limiting step in the process, with ΔG COOH* being 0.7 eV, while H* is the speed-limiting step in the hydrogen evolution, respectively. This work provides a feasible method for the achievement of nonprecious catalysts for the resourceful use of CO2.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate risk factors for cognitive impairment (CI) and explore the relationship between obesity and cognition in hospitalised middle-aged patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). METHODS: Subjects were divided into normal cognitive function (NCF) (n=320) and CI (n=204) groups based on the results of the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). The risk factors for CI were determined by logistic regression analysis and generalised linear modelling. The associations between obesity parameters (body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC)) and cognitive ability were studied with the use of linear regression analysis, piecewise regression modelling and interaction analysis. The receiver operating characteristic curve analysis was used to examine the diagnostic value of influencing factors for cc RESULTS: The prevalence of CI was 38.9% in hospitalised middle-aged T2DM patients (median age, 58 years). Age, WC, hypoglycaemic episode within past 3 months and cerebrovascular disease (CVD) were identified as independent risk factors for CI, while the independent protective factors were education, diabetic dietary pattern, overweight and obesity. BMI was a protective factor for the MoCA score within a certain range, whereas WC was a risk factor for the MMSE and MoCA scores. The area under the curve for the combination of BMI and WC was 0.754 (p<0.001). CONCLUSION: Age, education, diabetic dietary pattern, WC, overweight, obesity, hypoglycaemic episode in 3 months and CVD may be potential influencing factors for the occurrence of CI in hospitalised middle-aged population with T2DM. The combination of BMI and WC may represent a good predictor for early screening of CI in this population. Nevertheless, more relevant prospective studies are still needed.

RESUMO

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: To assess the predictive ability of an 18F-FDG PET/CT-based radiomics nomogram for bone marrow involvement in pediatric neuroblastoma. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 241 neuroblastoma patients who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT at two medical centers were retrospectively evaluated. Data from center A (n = 200) were randomized into a training cohort (n = 140) and an internal validation cohort (n = 60), while data from center B (n = 41) constituted the external validation cohort. For each patient, two regions of interest were defined using the tumor and axial skeleton. The clinical factors and radiomics features were derived to construct the clinical and radiomics models. The radiomics nomogram was built by combining clinical factors and radiomics features. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curves (AUCs) were used to assess the performance of the models. RESULTS: Radiomics models created from tumor and axial skeleton achieved AUCs of 0.773 and 0.900, and the clinical model had an AUC of 0.858 in the training cohort. By incorporating clinical risk factors and axial skeleton-based radiomics features, the AUC of the radiomics nomogram in the training cohort, internal validation cohort, and external validation cohort was 0.932, 0.887, and 0.733, respectively. CONCLUSION: The axial skeleton-based radiomics model performed better than the tumor-based radiomics model in predicting bone marrow involvement. Moreover, the radiomics nomogram showed that combining axial skeleton-based radiomics features with clinical risk factors improved their performance.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Itching is a troublesome symptom that disturbs patients with allergic rhinitis (AR). The molecular mechanisms underlying itching in AR need to be further illuminated. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of epithelial cell-derived interleukin-31 (IL-31) in nasal itching in AR. METHODS: A total of 33 patients and 20 healthy control subjects were enrolled in this prospective study. The disease severity of patients with AR was assessed by the total visual analog scale score. The levels of IL-31, cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1 (CysLT1R), and CysLT2R in the nasal brush specimens from the enrolled subjects were measured by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemical staining. The expression of CysLT2R in a human nasal epithelial cell line (HNEpC) was assessed by immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS: Compared with the control subjects, the protein and mRNA levels of IL-31 and CysLT2R were significantly increased in patients with AR. Higher levels of IL-31 and CysLT2R in nasal epithelial cells were associated with itching but not nasal congestion, rhinorrhea, or sneezing in AR. A significant relationship was found between IL-31 and CysLT2R in nasal epithelial cells, with a correlation coefficient of 0.93. Furthermore, RT-PCR and immunofluorescence staining revealed that IL-31 directly induced CysLT2R expression in HNEpCs. Nasal steroid treatment inhibited IL-31 and CysLT2R expression in 13 patients with AR in vivo. CONCLUSIONS: Nasal epithelial cell-derived IL-31 might be associated with itching symptoms via CysLT2R in AR.

RESUMO

Introduction: The molecular biology detection technology of the human ABO blood group system makes up for the limitations in many aspects compared with conventional serological typing technology. This study aimed to establish a new method to identify seven common ABO alleles (ABO*A1.01, ABO*A1.02, ABO*A2.01, ABO*B.01, ABO*O.01.01, ABO*O.01.02, and ABO*O.02.01) by two-dimensional polymerase chain reaction (2D PCR). 2D PCR can identify multiple target genes in a closed test tube by labeling specific primers with tags homologous to the sequence of fluorescently labeled probes, and melting curve analysis is performed after the fluorescent probes are hybridized with tag complementary sequences in PCR-specific products. In this study, 2D PCR and PCR sequence-specific primer (PCR-SSP) were combined to discriminate different alleles in a single reaction, which has the characteristics of high throughput, and compared with other typing techniques; the typing results can be obtained without additional operations. Methods: The ABO*A1.01 allele genetic sequence was used as the reference sequence. The specific sense and antisense primers for seven common ABO alleles were designed on exons 6 and 7 according to the principle of 2D PCR and PCR-SSP. Single nucleotide polymorphism sites for identifying seven alleles were detected in FAM and HEX channels, respectively. Two hundred sixty DNA samples were enrolled for rapid ABO genotyping by 2D PCR, and 95 of them were selected for Sanger sequencing. The Kappa test was used to analyze the agreement of the methodologies. Results: These 7 alleles each had four characteristic melting valleys at different single nucleotide polymorphism loci. A total of 15 genotypes were detected, including ABO*A1.01/A1.02, ABO*A1.01/O.01.01, ABO*A1.01/O.01.02, ABO*A1.02/A1.02, ABO*A1.02/O.01.01, ABO*A1.02/O.01.02, ABO*B.01/B.01, ABO*B.01/O.01.01, ABO*B.01/O.01.02, ABO*O.01.01/O.01.01, ABO*O.01.01/O.01.02, ABO*O.01.02/O.01.02, ABO*A1.01/B.01, ABO*A1.02/B.01, and ABO*B.01/O.01. v (containing a rare ABO*O allele, based on the sequencing results). The Kappa test showed completely consistent results for 2D PCR and Sanger sequencing (Kappa = 1). Conclusion: The 2D PCR technique could be used for molecular typing of the ABO blood group, which was efficient, rapid, accurate, and economical.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Our previous study found that the telomerase-associated protein 1 (TEP1, rs938886 and rs1713449) and homo sapiens RecQ like helicase 5 (RECQL5, rs820196) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were associated with changes in heart rate (HR) ≥ 30% during peritoneal lavage with distilled water after gastrectomy. This study established a single tube method for detecting these three SNPs using two-dimensional (2D) polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and investigated whether SNP-SNP and SNP-environment interactions increase the risk of high HR variability (HRV). AIM: To investigate whether genotypes, genetic patterns, SNP-SNP and SNP-environment interactions were associated with HRV. METHODS: 2D PCR was used to establish a single-tube method to detect TEP1 rs938886 and rs1713449 and RECQL5 rs820196, and the results were compared with those of sanger sequencing. After adjusting for confounders such as age, sex, smoking, hypertension, and thyroid dysfunction, a nonconditional logistic regression model was used to assess the associations between the genotypes and the genetic patterns (codominant, dominant, overdominant, recessive, and additive) of the three SNPs and a risk ≥ 15% or ≥ 30% of a sudden drop in HR during postoperative peritoneal lavage in patients with gastric cancer. Gene-gene and gene-environment interactions were analyzed using generalized multifactor dimensionality reduction. RESULTS: The coincidence rate between the 2D PCR and sequencing was 100%. When the HRV cutoff value was 15%, the patients with the RECQL5 (rs820196) TC genotype had a higher risk of high HRV than those who had the TT genotype (odds ratio = 1.97; 95%CI: 1.05-3.70; P = 0.045). Under the codominant and overdominant models, the TC genotype of RECQL5 (rs820196) was associated with a higher risk of HR decrease relative to the TT and TT + CC genotypes (P = 0.031 and 0.016, respectively). When the HRV cutoff value was 30%, patients carrying the GC-TC genotypes of rs938886 and rs820196 showed a higher HRV risk when compared with the GG-TT genotype carriers (P = 0.01). In the three-factor model of rs938886, rs820196, and rs1713449, patients carrying the GC-TC-CT genotype had a higher risk of HRV compared with the wild-type GG-TT-CC carriers (P = 0.01). For rs820196, nonsmokers with the TC genotype had a higher HRV risk compared with nonsmokers carrying the TT genotype (P = 0.04). When the HRV cutoff value was 15%, patients carrying the TT-TT and the TC-CT genotypes of rs820196 and rs1713449 showed a higher HRV risk when compared with TT-CC genotype carriers (P = 0.04 and 0.01, respectively). Patients carrying the GC-CT-TC genotypes of rs938886, rs1713449, and rs820196 showed a higher HRV risk compared with GG-CC-TT genotype carriers (P = 0.02). When the HRV cutoff value was 15%, the best-fitting models for the interactions between the SNPs and the environment were the rs820196-smoking (P = 0.022) and rs820196-hypertension (P = 0.043) models. Consistent with the results of the previous grouping, for rs820196, the TC genotype nonsmokers had a higher HRV risk compared with nonsmokers carrying the TT genotype (P = 0.01). CONCLUSION: The polymorphism of the RECQL5 and TEP1 genes were associated with HRV during peritoneal lavage with distilled water after gastrectomy.

RESUMO

Objective: The aim of this study was to elucidate the relationship between specific body composition and the risk of Cognitive Impairment (CI) in middle-aged Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) patients. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 504 hospitalized patients with T2DM from the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the Tianjin Union Medical Center. Subjects were grouped by sex, and cognitive status was assessed using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). The relationship between body composition and cognitive ability was investigated with the use of linear regression analysis. The association between body composition and CI risk was determined by logistic regression analysis. Results: The prevalence of CI was 39.3% in middle-aged T2DM patients. After adjusting for age, education, marriage status, carotid atherosclerosis, cerebrovascular disease and hemoglobin, multiple linear regression analysis showed that lean mass index (LMI), body mass index (BMI) and appendicular skeletal muscle index (SMI) were significant predictors for the MoCA scores in men (p < 0.05). In addition, BMI (OR 0.913, 95% CI 0.840-0.992) and LMI (OR 0.820, 95% CI 0.682-0.916) were independent protective factors for CI in males. After adjusted for age, education, marriage status, dietary control of diabetes and cerebrovascular disease, visceral obesity (VO, OR 1.950, 95% CI 1.033-3.684) and abdominal obesity (AO, OR 2.537, 95% CI 1.191-5.403) were risk factors for CI in female patients. Conclusion: The results suggest that there may be different mechanisms underlying the relationship of body compositions and cognitive performance between middle-aged male and female patients with T2DM. In addition, our finding of potential determinants of cognitive impairment may facilitate the development of intervention programs for middle-aged type 2 diabetic patients. Nevertheless, more large prospective studies looking at cognition and changes in body composition over time are needed in the future to further support their association.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The purpose of the study was to compare the efficacy of two novel obesity indices, lipid accumulation product (LAP) and visceral adiposity index (VAI), with traditional obesity indices in predicting early-onset type 2 diabetes (T2DM). METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, a total of 744 participants, including 605 patients newly diagnosed with T2DM and 139 non-diabetic control subjects, were enrolled from a tertiary care hospital in Tianjin, China. Participants with T2DM were divided into two groups based on their age at diagnosis, namely early-onset T2DM (age less than 40 years, n = 154) and late-onset T2DM (age 40 years or older, n = 451). The predictive power of each obesity index was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Furthermore, binary logistic regression analysis was conducted to examine the independent relationship between LAP and VAI with early-onset T2DM risk. The relationship between novel obesity indices and the age of T2DM onset was also evaluated through correlation and multiple linear regression analysis. RESULTS: In males, LAP had the highest predictive power for early-onset T2DM with an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.742 (95% CI 0.684-0.799, P < 0.001). In females, VAI had the highest AUC for early-onset T2DM with a value of 0.748 (95% CI 0.657-0.839, P < 0.001), which was superior to traditional indices. Patients in the 4th quartile of LAP and VAI had 2.257 (95% CI 1.116-4.563, P = 0.023) and 4.705 (95% CI 2.132-10.384, P < 0.001) times higher risk of T2DM before age 40, compared to those in the 1st quartile, respectively. A tenfold increase in LAP was associated with a decrease in T2DM onset age of 12.862 years in males (ß = -12.862, P < 0.001) and 6.507 years in females (ß = -6.507, P = 0.013). A similar decrease in T2DM onset age was observed for each tenfold increase in VAI in both male (ß = -15.222, P < 0.001) and female (ß = -12.511, P < 0.001) participants. CONCLUSIONS: In young Chinese individuals, LAP and VAI are recommended over traditional obesity indices for improved prediction of early-onset T2DM risk.

RESUMO

ABSTRACT: Awareness of radiation-related knowledge (RRK) and nuclear energy-related knowledge (NERK) among residents around a nuclear power plant (NPP), as well as their concerns about a NPP, were investigated. A face-to-face survey was conducted among 1,775 residents within 30 km around the NPP in Liaoning Province, China. A single-item Likert scale, Spearman's/Pearson's correlation coefficients, Student's t-test, ANOVA, and multiple-linear regression analysis were employed. Awareness of RRK and NERK among residents around the NPP was 27.7% and 36.6%, respectively. The anxiety level of respondents was negatively corelated with the distance from their residence to the NPP and age. Also, 55.6% of respondents thought that the publicity about nuclear energy/NPPs was insufficient, and 82.7% of respondents wanted to know relevant information about NPPs. Awareness of RRK and NERK among residents around the NPP was relatively low, which was related to education, occupation, and income. The anxiety level among residents was related to distance and age. The public was eager to know about RRK and NERK. These findings indicate that the publicity and education of RRK and NERK among residents around the NPP should be strengthened.

RESUMO

The k-means is one of the most popular clustering analysis algorithm and widely used in various fields. Nevertheless, it continues to have some shortcomings, for example, extremely sensitive to the initial center points selection and the special points such as noise or outliers. Therefore, this paper proposed initial center points' selection optimization and phased assignment optimization to improve the k-means algorithm. The experimental results on 15 real-world and 10 synthetic datasets show that the improved k-means outperforms its main competitor k-means ++ and under the same setting conditions, namely, using the default parameters, its clustering performance is better than Affinity Propagation, Mean Shift, and DBSCAN. The proposed algorithm was applied to analyze the airline seat selection data to air passengers grouping. The clustering results, as well as absolute deviation rate analysis, realized customer grouping and found out suitable audience group for the recommendation of seat selection services.

RESUMO

Objective: To assess the effectiveness of comprehensive nursing in patients with chronic renal failure undergoing hemodialysis and the impact on their quality of life. Methods: The present study included 86 patients undergoing hemodialysis for chronic renal failure from January 2020 to October 2021 and randomly assigned them to receive either normal nursing or comprehensive nursing, with 43 cases in each group. Outcome measures included psychological status, treatment compliance, quality of life, and complications of the eligible patients. Results: After the intervention, comprehensive nursing resulted in lower Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) scores and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) scores and higher quality of life scores for patients versus routine nursing (P < 0.05). Comprehensive nursing was associated with a significantly higher overall patient compliance rate versus routine nursing (P < 0.05). Patients receiving comprehensive nursing had a lower risk of developing complications versus those given routine nursing (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Comprehensive care increases treatment compliance and self-care capacity of patients undergoing hemodialysis for chronic renal failure, improves their quality of life, and lowers the risk of complications, indicating a high potential for clinical advancement.

RESUMO

It is a great challenging task for selectivity control of both CO2 photoreduction and water splitting to produce syngas via precise microenvironment regulation. Herein, a series of UiO-type Eu-MOFs (Eu-bpdc, Eu-bpydc, Rux-Eu-bpdc, and Rux-Eu-bpydc) with different surrounding confined spaces were designed and synthesized. These photosensitizing Rux-Eu-MOFs were used as the molecular platform to encapsulate the [CoII4(dpy{OH}O)4(OAc)2(H2O)2]2+ (Co4) cubane cluster for constructing Co4@Rux-Eu-MOF (x = 0.1, 0.2, and 0.4) heterogeneous photocatalysts for efficient CO2 photoreduction and water splitting. The H2 and CO yields can reach 446.6 and 459.8 µmol·g-1, respectively, in 10 h with Co4@Ru0.1-Eu-bpdc as the catalyst, and their total yield can be dramatically improved to 2500 µmol·g-1 with the ratio of CO/H2 ranging from 1:1 to 1:2 via changing the photosensitizer content in the confined space. By increasing the N content around the cubane, the photocatalytic performance drops sharply in Co4@Ru0.1-Eu-bpydc, but with an enhanced proportion of CO in the final products. In the homogeneous system, the Co4 cubane was surrounding with Ru photosensitizers via week interactions, which can drive water splitting into H2 with >99% selectivity. Comprehensive structure-function analysis highlights the important role of microenvironment regulation in the selectivity control via constructing homogeneous and heterogeneous photocatalytic systems. This work provides a new insight for engineering a catalytic microenvironment of the cubane cluster for selectivity control of CO2 photoreduction and water splitting.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Glucocorticoid (GC) resistance results in unsatisfactory outcomes in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) patients. Previous studies have shown that calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D, alone or in combination with corticosteroids, exerts crucial immunomodulatory effects on inflammatory responses. However, whether vitamin D can improve the effect of GCs to attenuate inflammation in the epithelium of CRSwNP remains unclear. METHODS: A human bronchial epithelial cell line (Beas-2B) and primary human nasal epithelial cells (HNECs) obtained from 10 patients with CRSwNP were exposed to lipopolysaccharide (LPS) for 24 h to establish an inflammation model. LPS-stimulated HNECs and Beas-2B cells were treated with/without dexamethasone in the presence or absence of calcitriol pretreatment for 24 h. The expression levels of interleukin-6 (IL-6) mRNA and protein were determined by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, respectively. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/NF-κB pathway related markers were examined by western blotting. One-way ANOVA or the Kruskal-Wallis test with post hoc analysis were used for multiple comparisons among groups. RESULTS: The production of IL-6 in Beas-2B cells and primary HNECs after LPS stimulation was significantly increased, which could be inhibited by dexamethasone or calcitriol alone. However, significant inhibition of IL-6 production was observed in the calcitriol plus dexamethasone group. Further analysis showed that calcitriol could enhance the effect of dexamethasone in inhibiting LPS-induced overexpression of TLR4, Myd88, and phosphorylation of p65. CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrated that vitamin D could improve the effect of GCs to alleviate the level of IL-6 induced by LPS via the TLR4/NF-κB pathway in human respiratory epithelial cells.
