RESUMO

The Bessel beam has broad application prospects in wireless energy transmission and high-speed communications. The traditional Bessel beam generation method has the problems of large volume, low efficiency, and complex manufacturing. To solve the above problems, we present a terahertz Bessel beam generator based on the reflective metasurface, which is composed of a metal pattern, dielectric layer, and bottom metal plate. Under the incidence of right circularly polarized (RCP) wave, the zero-order Bessel beam and zero-order symmetric double Bessel beam are generated. It can be found that the bottom angle of the axicon of the first-order Bessel beam is inversely proportional to the propagation distance of the Bessel beam. Comparing the electric field intensity distribution, phase distribution, and mode purity of the second-order Bessel beam and the second-order vortex beam in different observation planes, it can be seen that the energy of the higher-order Bessel beam is more concentrated and the field distribution is more stable than those of the ordinary vortex beam. The reflective terahertz Bessel beam generator has potential application value in terahertz wireless communications, measurement, radar detection, and imaging.

RESUMO

Extracellular vesicles in wound healing have become an active research field with substantial value and potential. Nevertheless, there are few bibliometric studies in this field. We aimed to visualise the research hot spots and trends of extracellular vesicles in wound healing using a bibliometric analysis to help understand the future development of basic and clinical research. The articles and reviews regarding extracellular vesicles in the wound healing were selected from the Web of Science Core Collection. VOSviewers, CiteSpace and R package "bibliometric" were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis. A total of 1225 articles from 56 countries led by China and the United States were included. The number of publications related to extracellular vesicles increased year by year. Shanghai Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University and Central South University are the main research institutions. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is the most popular journal in this field, while Stem Cell Research & Therapy is the most frequently cited journal. These papers come from 7546 authors, among which Zhang Wei has published the most papers and Zhang Bin has the most cocited papers. The research on the treatment strategy of extracellular vesicles in the process of wound healing is the main topic in this field. "exosomes", "miRNA", "angiogenesis", "regenerative medicine", "inflammation" and "diabetic wound" are the main key words of emerging research hotspots. This is the first bibliometric study, which comprehensively summarises the research trend and development of extracellular vesicles and exocrine bodies in wound healing. These informations determine the latest research frontiers and hot directions, and provide reference for the study of extracellular vesicles and exosomes.

ZnSnN2 has potential applications in photocatalysis and photovoltaics. However, the difficulty in preparing nondegenerate ZnSnN2 hinders its device application. Here, the preparation of low-electron-density nanocrystalline ZnSnN2 and its device application are demonstrated. Nanocrystalline ZnSnN2 was prepared with reactive sputtering. Nanocrystalline ZnSnN2 with an electron density of approximately 1017 cm-3 can be obtained after annealing at 300 °C. Nanocrystalline ZnSnN2 is found to form Schottky contact with Ag. Both the current I vs. voltage V curves and the capacitance C vs. voltage V curves of these samples follow the related theories of crystalline semiconductors due to the limited long-range order provided by the crystallites with sizes of 2-10 nm. The I-V curves together with the nonlinear C-2-V curves imply that there are interface states at the Ag-nanocrystalline ZnSnN2 interface. The application of nanocrystalline ZnSnN2 to heterojunction solar cells is also demonstrated.

A facile and feasible photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunoassay based on plasmon-enhanced energy transfer between gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) and CdS quantum dots (QDs)/g-C3N4 nanosheets was developed for the ultrasensitive detection of lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 (Lp-PLA2). To construct such a sensing platform, the immunosensor was prepared by immobilizing Lp-PLA2 on a CdS QDs/g-C3N4-modified electrode. A competitive-type immunoreaction was utilized for Lp-PLA2 detection, with AuNP-labeled anti-Lp-PLA2 antibody used as the competitor. Introducing AuNPs with the specific antibody for the antigen target Lp-PLA2 led to heavy quenching of the photocurrent of CdS QDs/g-C3N4 due to the plasmon-enhanced energy transfer between AuNPs and CdS QDs. The quenching efficiency decreased with increasing target Lp-PLA2 concentration. Under optimal conditions, the PEC immunosensor presented a good photocurrent response to the target Lp-PLA2 in the dynamic linear range of 0.01-300 ng mL-1, with a low detection limit of 5.3 pg mL-1. Other biomarkers and natural enzymes did not interfere with response of this system. The reproducibility and accuracy of this method for the analysis of human serum specimens were evaluated, and the results given by the method developed here were found to closely correspond to the results obtained with commercial Lp-PLA2 ELISA kits. Importantly, this protocol offers promise for the development of exciton-plasmon interaction-based PEC detection systems. Graphical abstract ᅟ.

Thermochromic tungsten-doped VO2 thin films were successfully fabricated using a W-V alloy target. X-ray diffraction analyses showed that the W-doped VO2 film had a preferred orientation of (011), and that the doping did not degrade the film crystallinity compared with that of the pure film. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and energy-dispersive spectroscopy showed that the doped 0.81 atom% tungsten replaced vanadium in the lattice of the film. The metal⁻insulator transition temperature of the W-doped VO2 film was reduced to 35.5 °C, which is close to room temperature. Additionally, the infrared transmittance modulation of the W-doped film at λ = 2500 nm reached 56%, indicating an excellent switching efficiency. The damage behavior of the W-doped VO2 film under a femtosecond-laser irradiation was experimentally investigated. Our results revealed that defect-related damages induced by the femtosecond laser are relevant for W-doped VO2 films. This study provides valuable insights into VO2 films for potential applications in laser protection.

Stroke that is caused by poor blood flow into the brain results in cell death, including ischemia stroke due to lack of blood into brain tissue, and hemorrhage due to bleeding. Both of them will give rise to the dysfunction of brain. In general, the signs and symptoms of stroke are the inability of feeling or moving on one side of body, sometimes loss of vision to one side. Above symptoms will appear soon after the stroke has happened. If the symptoms and signs happen in 1 or 2 hours, we often call them as transient ischemic attack. Moreover, hemorrhagic stroke often leads to severe headache. It is known that neuronal death can happen after stroke, and it depends upon the activation of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) excitatory glutamate receptor which is the goal for a lot of neuroprotective agents. Nitrous oxide was discovered by Joseph Priestley in 1772, and then he and his friends, including the poet Coleridge and Robert Sauce, experimented with the gas. They found this gas could make patients loss the sense of pain and still maintain consciousness after inhalation. Shortly the gas was used as an anesthetic, especially in the field of dentists. Now, accroding to theme of Helene N. David and other scientists, both of nitrous oxide at 75 vol% and xenon at 50 vol% could reduce ischemic neuronal death in the cortex by 70% and decrease NMDA-induced Ca2+ influx by 30%. Therefore, more clinical and experimental studies are important to illuminate the mechanisms of how nitrous oxide protects brain tissue and to explore the best protocol of this gas in stroke treatment.

In this work, an alternative route to fabricating high-quality CH3NH3PbI3 thin films is proposed. Single-source physical vapour deposition (SSPVD) without a post-heat-treating process was used to prepare CH3NH3PbI3 thin films at room temperature. This new process enabled complete surface coverage and moisture stability in a non-vacuum solution. Moreover, the challenges of simultaneously controlling evaporation processes of the organic and inorganic sources via dual-source vapour evaporation and the heating process required to obtain high crystallization were avoided. Excellent composition with stoichiometry transferred from the powder material, a high level of tetragonal phase-purity, full surface coverage, well-defined grain structure, high crystallization and reproducibility were obtained. A PCE of approximately 10.90% was obtained with a device based on SSPVD CH3NH3PbI3. These initial results suggest that SSPVD is a promising method to significantly optimize perovskite CH3NH3PbI3 solar cell efficiency.

A comprehensive survey was conducted to Masson pine (Pinus massoniana L.) needles widely distributed in Shanghai in order to investigate the levels and homologue group patterns of short- and medium-chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCPs and MCCPs), to identify and quantitatively assess source contributions to the total CPs in pine needle samples. The concentration ranged from not detected (ND) to 13,600ngg(-1) with a geometric mean (GM) value of 63.7ngg(-1) for ΣSCCPs, from 12.4 to 33,500ngg(-1) with a GM value of 677ngg(-1) for ΣMCCPs, and from 14.0 to 45,700ngg(-1) with a GM value of 768ngg(-1) for total CPs. For different sampling units, the pollution levels both for SCCPs and MCCPs in pine needles were in the same orders: Pudong>suburbs>Puxi>Chongming. These significant differences in SCCPs and MCCPs among four sampling units could be associated with difference in industrial activities and to some extent also in population density. All pine needle samples (n=131) were divided into 2 groups by hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) for SCCPs and MCCPs, the most abundant homologue groups in the bulk of pine needle samples were C11Cl5-7 and C13Cl5-7 for SCCPs, and C14Cl7-8 and C15Cl7-8 for MCCPs. Correlation analysis suggested that SCCPs and MCCPs in pine needles in the studied area may be derived from different sources. Four sources for pine needles were identified by the FA-MLR model; their relative contributions to the total CP burden in pine needles were 18.0% for F1 (attributed to commercial SCCP mixture), 42.2% for F2 (attributed to commercial MCCP mixture), 29.3% for F3 (attributed to LRAT), and 10.5% for F4 (unknown source). CP contamination of atmospheric air by point sources and long-range atmospheric transport in Shanghai should receive more attention by local government.

Heterotrimeric GTP-binding protein (G-protein)-mediated abscisic acid (ABA) and drought-stress responses have been documented in numerous plant species. However, our understanding of the function of rice G-protein subunits in ABA signalling and drought tolerance is limited. In this study, the function of G-protein subunits in ABA response and drought resistance in rice plants was explored. It was found that the transcription level of qPE9-1 (rice Gγ subunit) gradually decreased with increasing ABA concentration and the lack of qPE9-1 showed an enhanced drought tolerance in rice plants. In contrast, mRNA levels of RGB1 (rice Gß subunit) were significantly upregulated by ABA treatment and the lack of RGB1 led to reduced drought tolerance. Furthermore, the results suggested that qPE9-1 negatively regulates the ABA response by suppressing the expression of key transcription factors involved in ABA and stress responses, while RGB1 positively regulates ABA biosynthesis by upregulating NCED gene expression under both normal and drought stress conditions. Taken together, it is proposed that RGB1 is a positive regulator of the ABA response and drought adaption in rice plants, whereas qPE9-1 is modulated by RGB1 and functions as a negative regulator in the ABA-dependent drought-stress responses.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the influence of self-ligating and conventional brackets on dental arch width in non-extraction treatment. METHODS: Cochrane library, Science Direct, PubMed, CBM, CNKI, VIP, Wanfang Database and Google scholar were searched from the date of their establishment to May 2013, to find clinical trials about dental arch form changes in non-extraction treatment with self-ligating and conventional brackets. The quality of the included studies was assessed by two reviewers independently, and Meta analysis was performed using Sata 10.0 software package. RESULTS: Finally' 8 studies including 364 patients were identified. The results of meta analysis showed there were significant difference between self-ligating and conventional brackets in the upper first premolar width change [WMD=0.724, 95%CI (0.288, 1.160; PU<0.01], lower first molar width change [WMD=0.564, 95% CI(0.219, 0.909); PL<0.01] and upper incisors inclination changes. CONCLUSIONS: Current clinical evidence suggests that there is more increment of the dental width in upper first premolars and the lower first molars using self-ligating brackets than conventional brackets, and self-ligating brackets can superiorly control upper incisor inclination. The results need to be verified via larger and higher quality trial.

To synthesize a series of 3-, 4-, and/or 11-trihydroxy modified bergenin derivatives and evaluated their cytotoxic activity in vitro. The phenolic hydroxyl groups of bergenin were protected by benzyl groups with benzyl bromide. Treatment of dibenzyl bergenin with the corresponding acid in the presence of EDC·HCl and DMAP in CH2Cl2, followed by hydrogenation over Pd/C catalysts, afforded derivatives of bergenin esters. All of the target compounds were identified by IR, MS, and (1)H NMR. Twenty-six novel and three known derivatives of bergenin esters were synthesized. Their cytotoxicity values were evaluated by the MTT assay on the inhibition of DU-145 and BGC-823 cells in vitro. Several triply-substituted (3a, 4a, 5a, 6a, 7a) and doubly-substituted (8b, 9b) bergenin derivatives exhibited higher cytotoxic activity than bergenin. The result showed that the size of substituents and the lipophilicity of the bergenin esters displayed an important role on their cytotoxic activity.

1-Chloro-3-buten-2-one (CBO) is a potential metabolite of 1,3-butadiene (BD), a carcinogenic air pollutant. CBO is a bifunctional alkylating agent that readily reacts with glutathione (GSH) to form mono-GSH and di-GSH adducts. Recently, CBO and its precursor 1-chloro-2-hydroxy-3-butene (CHB) were found to be cytotoxic and genotoxic in human liver cells in culture with CBO being approximately 100-fold more potent than CHB. In the present study, CBO was shown to react readily with 2'-deoxycytidine (dC) under in vitro physiological conditions (pH 7.4, 37 °C) to form four dC adducts with the CBO moieties forming fused rings with the N3 and N(4) atoms of dC. The four products were structurally characterized as 2-hydroxy-2-hydroxymethyl-7-(2-deoxy-ß-d-erythro-pentofuranosyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-oxo-6H,7H-pyrimido[1,6-a]pyrimidin-5-ium (dC-1 and dC-2, a pair of diastereomers), 4-chloromethyl-4-hydroxy-7-(2-deoxy-ß-d-erythro-pentofuranosyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-oxo-6H,7H-pyrimido[1,6-a]pyrimidin-5-ium (dC-3), and 2-chloromethyl-2-hydroxy-7-(2-deoxy-ß-d-erythro-pentofuranosyl)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-oxo-6H,7H-pyrimido[1,6-a]pyrimidin-5-ium (dC-4). Interestingly, dC-1 and dC-2 were stable under our experimental conditions (pH 7.4, 37 °C, and 6 h) and existed in equilibrium as indicated by HPLC analysis, whereas dC-3 and dC-4 were labile with the half-lives being 3.0 ± 0.36 and 1.7 ± 0.06 h, respectively. Decomposition of dC-4 produced both dC-1 and dC-2, whereas acid hydrolysis of dC-1/dC-2 and dC-4 in 1 M HCl at 100 °C for 30 min yielded the deribosylated adducts dC-1H/dC-2H and dC-4H, respectively. Because fused-ring dC adducts of other chemicals are mutagenic, the characterized CBO-dC adducts could be mutagenic and play a role in the cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of CBO and its precursors, CHB and BD. The CBO-dC adducts may also be used as standards to characterize CBO-DNA adducts and to develop potential biomarkers for CBO formation in vivo.

The fish tissues from four species collected from Taihu Lake, China, were analyzed including dorsal, ventral, and tail muscles, heart, liver, and kidney. The highest and lowest concentrations of fatty acids were respectively observed in livers and muscles. There were significant intraspecies and interspecies differences in the compositions of most fatty acids among muscle, heart, liver, and kidney. All the tissues were generally beneficial for consumption considering fatty acids. People mainly consume the muscle. Hence, the benefits from two polyunsaturated fatty acids, i.e., eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), and risks from PCBs and PBDEs via fish consumption were evaluated by calculating the benefit-risk quotient (BFQ) for the intake of fish muscle containing EPA+DHA vs. PCBs or PBDEs. The BFQ values considering carcinogenic and noncarcinogenic effects for PCBs were ∼3000 and 10 times higher than those of PBDEs via fish consumption to achieve the recommended EPA+DHA intake of 250 mg d(-1), respectively. The results also suggested that the risk consuming the dorsal muscle was generally lower than the ventral and tail muscles.

The role of structural brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is becoming more and more emphasized in the early diagnostics of Alzheimer's disease (AD). This study aimed to assess the improvement in classification accuracy that can be achieved by combining features from different structural MRI analysis techniques. Automatically estimated MR features used are hippocampal volume, tensor-based morphometry, cortical thickness and a novel technique based on manifold learning. Baseline MRIs acquired from all 834 subjects (231 healthy controls (HC), 238 stable mild cognitive impairment (S-MCI), 167 MCI to AD progressors (P-MCI), 198 AD) from the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database were used for evaluation. We compared the classification accuracy achieved with linear discriminant analysis (LDA) and support vector machines (SVM). The best results achieved with individual features are 90% sensitivity and 84% specificity (HC/AD classification), 64%/66% (S-MCI/P-MCI) and 82%/76% (HC/P-MCI) with the LDA classifier. The combination of all features improved these results to 93% sensitivity and 85% specificity (HC/AD), 67%/69% (S-MCI/P-MCI) and 86%/82% (HC/P-MCI). Compared with previously published results in the ADNI database using individual MR-based features, the presented results show that a comprehensive analysis of MRI images combining multiple features improves classification accuracy and predictive power in detecting early AD. The most stable and reliable classification was achieved when combining all available features.

A novel system for image guidance in totally endoscopic coronary artery bypass (TECAB) is presented. Key requirement is the availability of 2D-3D registration techniques that can deal with non-rigid motion and deformation. Image guidance for TECAB is mainly required before the mechanical stabilisation of the heart, when the most dominant source of misregistration is the deformation and non-rigid motion of the heart. To augment the images in the endoscope of the da Vinci robot, we have to find the transformation from the coordinate system of the preoperative imaging modality to the system of the endoscopic cameras. In a first step we build a 4D motion model of the beating heart. Intraoperatively we can use the ECG or video processing to determine the phase of the cardiac cycle, as well as the heart and respiratory frequencies. We then take the heart surface from the motion model and register it to the stereo endoscopic images of the da Vinci robot resp. of a validation system using photo-consistency. To take advantage of the fact that there is a whole image sequence available for registration, we use the different phases together to get the registration. We found the similarity function to be much smoother when using more phases. This also showed promising behaviour in convergence tests. Images of the vessels available in the preoperative coordinate system can then be transformed to the camera system and projected into the calibrated endoscope view using two video mixers with chroma keying. It is hoped that the augmented view can improve the efficiency of TECAB surgery and reduce the conversion rate to more conventional procedures.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the prevalence and correlation factors of carotid atherosclerosis (CAS) among workers of Chongqing Iron and Steel Corporation, and to offer information for the development of prevention program for cerebro-vascular disease. METHODS: 512 asymptomatic individuals (mean age 56.8 years, ranged from 45 to 80) from the subsidiary workshop of Chongqing Iron and Steel Corporation were recruited. Demographic data and serum were collected and the internal-media thickness (IMT) of the CAS and the extent of plaque formation were evaluated by B-mode ultrasound. Logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the correlation factors of CAS. Results (1) The overall prevalence of carotid atherosclerosis among the iron and steel workers was 37.6%. IMT was found as 10.2% , with the prevalence rates of nonstenotic plaque and stenotic plaque were 25.0% and 2.4% respectively. (2) It was shown by logistic regression analysis that age (OR = 1.289, 95% CI: 1.014-1.568, P < 0.001), smoking (OR = 1.420, 95% CI: 0.802-3.872, P < 0.001), hypertension (OR= 4.530, 95% CI: 3.952-6.753, P < 0.001) , diabetes mellitus (OR = 2.285, 95% CI: 1.008-5.057, P < 0.001), HsCRP (OR = 1.273, 95% CI: 0.479-2.889, P = 0.037), TC (OR = 1.032, 95% CI: 0.320-1.882, P = 0.047) and LDL-C (OR = 2.313, 95% CI: 1.237-4.331, P = 0.008) were significantly associated with the severity of CAS. (3) Prevalence of the CAS increased with the increasing number of correlation factors. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of CAS among the iron and steel workers was higher than those in ordinary people of the same age. Age, smoking, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, HsCRP, TC and LDL-C were independent risk factors related to CAS. The prevalence of CAS was increasing parallel to the number of correlation factors.

OBJECTIVE: To assess the effect and safety of therapies in common use for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) patients with failed thrombolytic therapy. METHODS: We searched the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL, Issue 2, 2006), MEDLINE (1966 to July 2006), EMBASE (1984 to July 2006), China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI, 1994 to July 2006), China Biomedicine Database disc (CBMdisc, 1980 to July 2006). We also searched several key Chinese journals in the field of cardiovascular diseases. The language was limited to Chinese and English. We included all the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for acute myocardial infarction patients with failed thrombolytic therapy. Two authors independently assessed the methodological quality of the included studies, the data were analyzed by RevMan 4.2.8 from the Cochrane Collaboration. RESULTS: Nine RCTs met the inclusion criteria. A significant difference was found between the rescue percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) group and conventional treatment group in the mortality rate at the end of the follow-up [RR=0.64, 95%CI (0.41, 0.98)]. Thromboembolic stroke and bleeding in rescue PCI group were significantly higher than that in conventional treatment group [RR=4.39, 95%CI (1.14, 16.87), and RR=2.79, 95%CI (1.55, 5.02), respectively]. Compared with conventional therapy, rescue thrombolytic treatment was associated with a significantly higher reperfusion rate [RR=2.92, 95%CI (1.75, 4.85)]. Comparison between rescue PCI with rescue thrombolytic treatment revealed that the revascularization rate in rescue PCI group was significantly lower than that in rescue thrombolytic group [RR=0.57, 95%CI (0.34, 0.95)], and the incidence of bleeding was significantly higher in rescue PCI group [RR=2.15, 95%CI (1.27, 3.63)]. Comparison of glycoprotein (GP)IIb/IIIa receptor antagonists with standard treatment showed no significant difference between them in the mortality rate and bleeding rate at the end of the follow-up. CONCLUSION: Current evidence does not confirm the effect or safety of the therapies for AMI patients with failed thrombolytic therapy, nor support the routine use of these therapies in clinical practice except for rescue PCI that reduces mortality compared with traditional treatment. Further high-quality randomized controlled trials are needed to provide reliable evidence for the treatments of AMI patients with failed thrombolytic therapy.

We aimed to develop a double-injection model of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) in rabbits and to evaluate it as a tool for investigating post-ICH brain injury. Rabbits were injected with 300microL fresh autologous whole blood into the right basal ganglia. Behavioral changes were rated, brain water content (BWC) was measured and brain tissue morphology was also examined. ICH was established in 93.5% of the blood injection group. At 1, 3 and 7 days after ICH, there were significant differences in the total neurological scores (p<0.01) and BWC (p<0.01) between a sham-operated group and the ICH group. These findings suggest that the model produces a persistent neurological deficit, hematoma volume and perihematomal edema and closely mimics human hypertensive basal ganglia ICH; it is a controllable and reproducible hematoma that lends itself to quantitative investigation.

The HCl emission characteristics of typical municipal solid waste (MSW) components and their mixtures have been investigated in a phi 150 mm fluidized bed. Some influencing factors of HCl emission in MSW fluidized bed incinerator was found in this study. The HCl emission is increasing with the growth of bed temperature, while it is decreasing with the increment of oxygen concentration at furnace exit. When the weight percentage of auxiliary coal is increased, the conversion rate of Cl to HCl is increasing. The HCl emission is decreased, if the sorbent (CaO) is added during the incineration process. Based on these experimental results, a 14 x 6 x 1 three-layer BP neural networks prediction model of HCl emission in MSW/coal co-fired fluidized bed incinerator was built. The numbers of input nodes and hidden nodes were fixed on by canonical correlation analysis technique and dynamic construction method respectively. The prediction results of this model gave good agreement with the experimental results, which indicates that the model has relatively high accuracy and good generalization ability. It was found that BP neural network is an effectual method used to predict the HCl emission of MSW/coal co-fired fluidized bed incinerator.
