RESUMO

Aimed at the problems of a large equipment size, long time and high price of environmental VOC gas detection, the FAIMS-VOC gas sensor was designed and prepared according to the principle that the ionization energy of the common VOC gas is less than 10.6 eV. The sensor is small in size, fast in detection, low in power consumption, and can work continuously. The sensor was fabricated through the MEMS process, a specific process which included photolithography, etching, anodic bonding, etc. The sensor is 5160 µm long, 5300 µm wide and 800 µm high. We built a test system to detect two typical VOC gases: isobutylene and acetone. The results show that in the detection of isobutylene gas and acetone gas, the sensor voltage value changes with the change of gas concentration. The linearity of testing isobutylene is 0.961, and the linearity of testing acetone is 0.987. When the isobutylene gas concentration is 50 ppm, the response time is 8 s and the recovery time is 6 s; when the acetone gas concentration is 50 ppm, the response time is 9 s and the recovery time is 10 s. In addition, the sensor demonstrates good repeatability and stability, which are conducive to the detection of VOCs in the environment.

RESUMO

A photochromic dye was constructed by incorporation of a carbon-carbon triple bond spaced triangle terthiophene skeleton and hydroxyphenylbenzothiazole. Regular photochromic behavior was investigated with alternated UV (254 nm) and visible light (≥ 400 nm) irradiation. The color of dye in solution can be cycled between pink and colorless. Additionally, the dye solution strongly fluoresces in THF with the absolute quantum yield (QY) being 0.56. When irradiation with 254 nm light, the emissive solution can be effectively quenched to photo-stationary sate (Φ = 0.05). An emission "on-off" cycle could be established based on the UV/visible light irradiation cycle. The photochromic dye also exhibits good photo- and thermal-stability at room temperature. The emission decay profile indicates typical single component character with the fluorescence lifetime being 6.68 ns. The emission color was determined by the CIE 1931 coordinates of x = 0.14, y = 0.25 in the blue region.

RESUMO

Accurate workload prediction plays a key role in intelligent scheduling decisions on cloud platforms. There are massive amounts of short-workload sequences in the cloud platform, and the small amount of data and the presence of outliers make accurate workload sequence prediction a challenge. For the above issues, this paper proposes an ensemble learning method based on sample weight transfer and long short-term memory (LSTM), termed as Tr-Predictor. Specifically, a selection method of similar sequences combining time warp edit distance (TWED) and transfer entropy (TE) is proposed to select a source domain dataset with higher similarity for the target workload sequence. Then, we upgrade the basic learner of the ensemble model two-stage TrAdaBoost.R2 to LSTM in the deep model and enhance the ability of the ensemble model to extract sequence features. To optimize the weight adjustment strategy, we adopt a two-stage weight adjustment strategy and select the best weight for the learner according to the sample error and model error. Finally, the above process determines the parameters of the target model and uses the target model to predict the short-task sequences. In the experimental validation, we arbitrarily select nine sets of short-workload data from the Google dataset and three sets of short-workload data from the Alibaba cluster to verify the prediction effectiveness of the proposed algorithm. The experimental results show that compared with the commonly used cloud workload prediction methods Tr-Predictor has higher prediction accuracy on the small-sample workload. The prediction indicators of the ablation experiments show the performance gain of each part in the proposed method.

RESUMO

Myopia is one of the main causes of visual impairment worldwide. Preventing myopia and providing myopia-related interventions are of paramount importance. Based on a thorough review of the available literature, we conclude that red light irradiation can produce hyperopia, resulting in myopia prevention and control. Further, we suggest that red light irradiation may be a powerful tool for myopia prevention and control in the future. At the same time, red light has a protective effect on the cornea and retina at the cellular level, suggesting that red light irradiation may be a safe and effective modality for delaying myopia. Therefore, this form of irradiation is expected to play an important role in the prevention and control of myopia. However, more studies are needed to enhance the current state of knowledge and inform medical guidelines more comprehensively.

RESUMO

Based on the humidity testing requirements in different environments, this paper investigates the humidity sensitivity of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) composite film humidity sensor. In the experiments, rGO-SDS dispersions with a concentration of 5 mg/mL were prepared, and a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) process was used to prepare the interdigital electrodes. The dispersions were then drop-coated on the interdigital electrodes and dried on a heated plate at 100 °C. The surface characteristics of the rGO-SDS films transferred onto SiO2-Si substrates were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy, raman spectroscopy and atomic force microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and tested by a correlation system, which showed a linear relationship between humidity variation and the resistance variation of the sensor in the ambient humidity range of 25-95% RH. At room temperature, the linearity of the sensor is about 0.98431 and the sensitivity is about 11.41432 Ω/% RH. At 100 °C, the correlation of the sensor is about 0.95046 and the sensitivity is about 1.0145 Ω/% RH; with a response time of only 9 s at ambient humidity from 25% RH to 95% RH, the sensor has very good repeatability and stability.

RESUMO

In this paper, to address the problems of large blood draws, long testing times, and the inability to achieve dynamic detection of invasive testing for diabetes, stemming from the principle that type 1 diabetic patients exhale significantly higher levels of acetone than normal people, a FAIMS-MEMS gas sensor was designed to detect acetone, which utilizes the characteristics of high sensitivity, fast response, and non-invasive operation. It is prepared by MEMS processes, such as photolithography, etching, and sputtering, its specific dimensions are 4000 µm in length, 3000 µm in width and 800 µm in height and the related test system was built to detect acetone gas. The test results show that when acetone below 0.8 ppm is introduced, the voltage value detected by the sensor basically does not change, while when acetone gas exceeds 1.8 ppm, the voltage value detected by the sensor increases significantly. The detection accuracy of the sensor prepared by this method is about 0.02 ppm/mV, and the voltage change can reach 1 V with a response time of 3 s and a recovery time of 4 s when tested under 20 ppm acetone environment; this has good repeatability and stability, and has great prospects in the field of non-invasive detection of type 1 diabetes.

RESUMO

Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the leading causes of malignant tumor related death word wide with poor prognosis. Chemotherapy and TACE are main treatment methods for advanced stage cases. Rapamycin, a macrolide compound that initially used to coat coronary stents, can inhibit the growth of a variety of cancer cells especially hepatocellular carcinoma. Twenty-four healthy adult New Zealand white rabbits underwent CT-guided puncture to prepare a model of VX2 liver xenograft tumor. The rabbits were randomly divided into four groups with six in each group and received the following treatments: APR-TACE1: arterial perfusion of high-dose rapamycin combined with TACE; APR-TACE2: arterial perfusion of low-dose rapamycin combined with TACE; TACE: TACE alone; and IVR-TACE: intravenous injection of rapamycin combined with TACE. Two weeks after TACE treatment, the rabbits received CT scan and DSA angiography examination, and then killed by air embolism. The non-necrotic region and surrounding tissues were obtained from the peripheral tumor for iNOS, HIF-1α, VEGF, Bcl-2, and Bax protein expression analysis. Protein expression of iNOS, HIF-1α, VEGF, and Bcl-2 in APR-TACE1 were significantly lower than those in groups APR-TACE2, TACE, and IVR-TACE (p < 0.05). iNOS, HIF-1α, and VEGF in APR-TACE2 were lower than those in TACE (p < 0.05). iNOS and VEGF in APR-TACE2 were significantly lower than those in IVR-TACE (p < 0.05). iNOS in IVR-TACE was significantly lower than that in TACE (p < 0.05). The expression levels of Bcl-2 and Bax were statistically significant between APR-TACE2 and TACE (p < 0.05). The MVD of the tumor tissue in APR-TACE1 was lower than that of groups APR-TACE2, TACE, IVR-TACE with statistical difference (p < 0.05). However, MVD of APR-TACE2 was lower than that of groups TACE, IVR-TACE with significant statistical difference (p < 0.05). Arterial instillation of rapamycin+TACE in treatment of rabbit hepatic xenograft tumors can reduce tumor neovascularization and inhibit iNOS, HIF-1α, VEGF, Bcl-2, and Bax protein expression.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Chorioamnionitis may cause serious perinatal and neonatal adverse outcomes, and group B streptococcus (GBS) is one of the most common bacteria isolated from human chorioamnionitis. The present study analyzed the impact of GBS infection and histological chorioamnionitis (HCA) on pregnancy outcomes and the diagnostic value of various biomarkers. METHODS: Pregnant women were grouped according to GBS infection and HCA detection. Perinatal and neonatal adverse outcomes were recorded with a follow-up period of 6 weeks. The white blood cell count (WBC), neutrophil ratio, and C-reactive protein (CRP) level from peripheral blood and soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), interleukin 8 (IL-8), and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) levels from cord blood were assessed. RESULTS: A total of 371 pregnant women were included. Pregnant women with GBS infection or HCA had a higher risk of pathological jaundice and premature rupture of membranes and higher levels of sICAM-1, IL-8, and TNF-α in umbilical cord blood. Univariate and multivariate regression analysis revealed that sICMA-1, IL-8, TNF-α, WBC, and CRP were significantly related to an increased HCA risk. For all included pregnant women, TNF-α had the largest receiver operating characteristic (ROC) area (area: 0.841; 95% CI: 0.778-0.904) of the biomarkers analyzed. TNF-α still had the largest area under the ROC curve (area: 0.898; 95% CI: 0.814-0.982) for non-GBS-infected pregnant women, who also exhibited a higher neutrophil ratio (area: 0.815; 95% CI: 0.645-0.985) and WBC (area: 0.849; 95% CI: 0.72-0.978), but all biomarkers had lower value in the diagnosis of HCA in GBS-infected pregnant women. CONCLUSION: GBS infection and HCA correlated with several perinatal and neonatal adverse outcomes. TNF-α in cord blood and WBCs in peripheral blood had diagnostic value for HCA in non-GBS-infected pregnant women but not GBS-infected pregnant women.

RESUMO

Cortisol is a stress hormone released from the adrenal glands and is responsible for both hyperglycemia and hypertension during pregnancy. These factors make it mandatory to detect the levels of cortisol during pregnancy to identify and treat hypoglycemia and hypertension. In this study, cortisol levels were quantified with an aptamer-conjugated gold nanorod using an electrochemical interdigitated electrode sensor. The surface uniformity was analyzed by high-power microscopy and 3D-nanoprofiler imaging. The detection limit was determined to be 0.01 ng/mL, and a linear regression indicated that the sensitivity range was in the range of 0.01-0.1 ng/mL, based on a 3σ calculation. Moreover, the specificity of the aptamer was determined by a binding analysis against norepinephrine and progesterone, and it was clearly found that the aptamer specifically recognizes only cortisol. Further, the presence of cortisol was detected in the serum in a dose-dependent manner. This method is useful to detect and correlate multiple pregnancy-related diseases by quantifying the levels of cortisol.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To investigate the influence of phenylephrine and tropicamide on anterior segment biometry with ultralong scan depth optical coherence tomography (UL-OCT) during accommodation. METHODS: In this study, 20 left eyes of healthy volunteers with a mean ± standard deviation age of 31.05 ± 5.84 years and a mean refraction of -1.16 ± 1.11 diopters (range 0∼-3.0 D) were imaged using UL-OCT after instillation of artificial tears, phenylephrine, and tropicamide in three follow-up trials, respectively. At each follow-up trial, two repeated measurements were performed at states of relax and 5D accommodative stimulation. The dimensional parameters included central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), pupil diameter (PD), lens thickness (LT), and horizontal radii of the lens anterior and posterior surface curvatures (LAC and LPC). RESULTS: Tropicamide led to larger pupil, deeper ACD, thinner LT, and flatter crystalline lens surface (P < 0.05). Phenylephrine induced an increase in PD (P < 0.05), while no significant changes were seen in ACD, LT, LAC, and LPC (P > 0.05). CCT did not change after both phenylephrine and tropicamide instillation in this study (P > 0.05). Tropicamide induced the loss of accommodation and phenylephrine achieved pupil dilation without affecting the accommodation. PD, ACD decreased, LT increased significantly and the anterior and posterior surface of the lens in a 6.294 mm of diameter optical zone became steeper during accommodation after administration of phenylephrine (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The anterior segment physiology changed after tropicamide instillation. Besides, tropicamide induced the loss of accommodation and phenylephrine preserved the accommodation with a larger pupil. And, the anterior and posterior surface of lens in a 6.294 mm of diameter optical zone became steeper during the accommodation.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Hepatocellular carcinoma is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death. Hepatic transcatheter arterial chemo-embolization (TACE) is commonly used clinically for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma treatment. AIM: The aim of this study was to evaluate whether arterial infusion of rapamycin can improve the effect of TACE in treatment of rabbit hepatocellular carcinoma. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Eighteen healthy New Zealand white rabbits weighing 2.6 ± 0.3 kg were used in a standardised hepatocellular carcinoma model and randomly divided into three groups of 6 rabbits. Group A: the rabbits were treated with rapamycin and TACE by administering arterial perfusion of 2 mg/kg rapamycin + 1 mg/kg epirubicin, 0.2 mg/kg mitomycin, and lipiodol emulsion embolization. Group B: rapamycin was reduced to 1 mg/kg. And for Group C, the rabbits received only TACE treatment. 14 days post operation, CT scan and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) was performed to examine TACE efficacy. The rabbits were killed by air embolism and the expression of HIF-1a, VEGF, iNOS, and CD34 were measured in an immunohistochemical assay of thetumor tissue. RESULTS: HIF-1a, VEGF and iNOS protein expression in Group A was significantly lower than that of Group B and Group C (P<0.05). The tumor MVD in group C was significantly higher than that of group A and group B (P<0.05); and the tumor MVD of group B was significantly higher than group A (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Arterial infusion of rapamycin combined with TACE can improve treatment efficacy by decreasing HIF-1a, VEGF, iNOS and CD34 expression.

RESUMO

A dye incorporated naphthalene and bisindolylmaleimide was synthesized. The hydroxyl attached to naphthalene lead to fluorescence quench of binindolylmaleimide. The fluorescence was recovered upon acetic anhydride addition. However, HCl addition quenched the fluorescence emission again. Therefore, a switchable emission "off-on" model can be established. Frontier molecular orbital analysis uncovered the underlying signal mechanism.

RESUMO

The title compound, C(9)H(10)N(2)O(5), presents a racemic mixture of two enanti-omeric diastereomers. In the crystal, mol-ecules assemble into zigzag chains parallel to the b axis [C(6) motif] due to the formation of elongated O-H⋯O(N) hydrogen bonds. Of inter-est is the fact that only the aliphatic nitro group is involved in hydrogen bonding and it adopts a gauche conformation with respect to the OH group.

RESUMO

Strain M(438), deposited as CGMCC3917 and isolated from inoculums of bacterial cellulose (BC) producing strain screened in homemade vinegar and then induced by high hydrostatic pressure treatment (HHP), has strong ability to produce BC more than three times as that of its initial strain. It is the highest yield BC-producing strain ever reported. In this paper, M(438) was identidied as Gluconacetobacter hansenii subsp. nov. on the basis of the results obtained by examining it phylogenetically, phenotypically, and physiologically-biochemically. Furthermore, the genetic diversity of strain M(438) and its initial strain was examined by amplified fragment length polymorphism. The results indicated that strain M(438) was a deletion mutant induced by HHP, and the only deleted sequence showed 99% identity with 24,917-24,723 bp in the genome sequence of Ga. hansenii ATCC23769, and the complement gene sequence was at 24,699-25,019 bp with local tag GXY_15142, which codes small multidrug resistance (SMR) protein. It can be inferred that SMR might be related to inhibiting BC production to a certain extent.
