OBJECTIVE: Femoral neck fractures (FNFs) are among the most common fractures in elderly individuals. Surgery is the main treatment for FNFs, and osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is one of the unacceptable complications. This study aimed to assess both the clinical and radiological outcomes in patients with FNFs treated with three parallel cannulated screws and to identify relationship between screws position and ONFH. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 100 patients who were treated with closed reduction and fixed with 3 parallel cannulated screws met the inclusion criteria between January 2014 and December 2020 at authors' institution. The follow-up duration, age, sex, affected side, and injury-to-surgery interval were collected; the neck-shaft angle of both hips, screw-apex distance (SAD) and the tip-apex distance (TAD)were measured; and the Garden classification, quality of reduction and presence of ONFH were evaluated. RESULTS: The sample consisted of 37 males and 63 females, with 60 left and 40 right hips affected. The mean age of patients was 54.93 ± 12.24 years, and the mean follow-up was 56.3 ± 13.38 months. The overall incidence of ONFH was 13%. No significant difference was observed in the incidence of ONFH by affected side, age, fracture displacement, injury-to-surgery interval, neck-shaft angle deviation, or reduction quality. The SAD was significantly shorter in ONFH patients than in normal patients for all three screws (p = 0.02, 0.02, and 0.01, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: The short SAD of all screws is associated with femoral head necrosis of FNFs treated with 3 cannulated screws. The short SAD indicated that screws malpositioning in the weight-bearing area of the femoral head, potentially harming the blood supply and compromising the anchorage of the primary compressive trabeculae in this region.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of the ubiquitination process on the expression of CD44 antigen(CD44) and matrix metalloproteinase-14(MMP14) in human bronchial epithelial(16HBE) malignantly transformed cells induced by glycidyl methacrylate(GMA). METHODS: Successfully resuscitated 16HBE cells were cultured using a final concentration of 8 µg/mL GMA as the treatment group and 1 µg/mL dimethyl sulfoxide as the solvent control group, each time stained for 72 h, and then stained again after an interval of 24 h. After repeating the staining three times, the cells were cultured in passages respectively. The 40th generation(P40) GMA-treated group and the same-generation solvent control group were subjected to soft agar colony formation assay and concanavalin A(ConA) agglutination test to confirm that the 40th generation of GMA-induced malignant transformed 16HBE cells possessed malignant transformed cell characteristics.5, 10, 20, 40, 60 µmol/L anacardic acid were used to inhibit the ubiquitination process of GMA-induced malignant transformed 16HBE cells. The protein expression of CD44 and MMP14 were detected by western blotting, while the transcript levels of CD44, MMP14, and TFAP2A were assessed by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR(qPCR). RESULTS: (1) In the soft agar colony formation assay, the number of clones formed by the cells in the solvent control group was 22, and the number of clones created by the malignantly transformed cells in the GMA-treated group was 208. In the ConA agglutination test, the cells in the solvent control group were uniformly dispersed in ConA solution, and no obvious agglutination occurred for 30 min, whereas the cells in the GMA-treated group were agglutinated in the 5th min, and the agglutinated cells were larger and more rapidly agglutinated. The agglomerates were more significant and faster, and the sensitivity of agglutination was increased. (2) After differential inhibition of GMA-induced ubiquitination in malignantly transformed 16HBE cells, the expression levels of CD44 and MMP14 were reduced in GMA-induced malignantly transformed 16HBE cells compared with the control group(P<0.05). The transcript levels of MMP14 and CD44 decreased with increasing inhibitor concentration(P<0.05), and the transcript levels of the upstream transcription factor TFAP2A were also simultaneously reduced(P<0.05). CONCLUSION: Inhibition of the cellular ubiquitination process mediates the down-regulation of protein expression and transcriptional expression of CD44 and MMP14 in GMA-induced malignantly transformed 16HBE cells.

DESIGN: A two-round Delphi survey was conducted to seek opinions from experts about the index system for the evaluation of training courses of clinical nursing staff's information literacy. Besides, a non-randomized controlled experimental study was adopted to check the application effect of the training courses. AIMS: This study intended to construct a training course of information literacy for clinical nurses, train nurses in order to improve their information literacy level and provide theoretical reference for the training of information literacy courses for clinical nurses. METHODS: Two rounds of Delphi study were conducted for the study among 26 clinical medical and nursing experts as well as educational experts from 5 different provinces and cities in China. From July 2022 to October 2022, a total of 84 clinical nurses from two hospitals were selected by the convenience sampling method, of which the nurses in one hospital were the control group and the nurses in the other hospital were the observation group. 42 nurses in the observation group were trained by the constructed information literacy training course. Questionnaire evaluation was used to compare the differences in the level of information literacy of nurses and the training effect between the two groups. RESULTS: The results of the Delphi consultation showed that the expert's judgment coefficient was 0.958, the expert's familiarity was 0.946, and the expert's authority coefficient was 0.952. Finally, a training course of information literacy for clinical nurses with 4 course categories and 45 specific course contents was formed. Among them, nursing information awareness included 7 courses, nursing information knowledge 15 courses, nursing information ability 19 courses, and nursing information ethics 4 courses. The results of the empirical study showed that the information literacy level of the nurses in the observation group after the training of the information literacy course was improved, and the scores in nursing information awareness, nursing information knowledge, nursing information ability, and information ethics were significantly higher than those in the control group after training (P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The constructed information literacy training courses for clinical nurses were clearly targeted and systematic. Empirical research showed that the course contents were scientific and reasonable, which could provide reference for the training of clinical nurses' information literacy.

Stretchable conductors with stable electrical conductivity under various deformations are essential for wearable electronics, soft robots, and biointegrated devices. However, brittle film-based conductors on elastomeric substrates often suffer from unexpected electrical disconnection due to the obvious mechanical incompatibility between stiff films and soft substrates. We proposed a novel out-of-plane crack control strategy to achieve the strain-insensitive electrical performance of thin-film-based conductors, featuring conductive brittle materials, including nanocrystalline metals (Cu, Ag, Mo) and transparent oxides (ITO). Our metal film-based conductors exhibit an ultrahigh initial conductivity (1.3 × 105 S cm-1) and negligible resistance change (R/R0 = 1.5) over wide strain range from 0 to 130%, enabled by film-induced substrate cracking and liquid metal-induced electrical self-repairing. They could function well under multimodal deformations (stretching, bending, and twisting) and severe mechanical damage (cutting and puncturing). We demonstrated the strain-resilient electrical functionality of metal film-based conductors in a flexible light-emitting diode display that shows high mechanical compliance.

INTRODUCTION/AIMS: Descriptions of the clinical characteristics of anti-AChR-MuSK-LRP4 antibody-negative myasthenia gravis (triple-negative myasthenia gravis, TNMG) are lacking in the current literature. Therefore, we investigated the clinical characteristics of TNMG in Chinese patients. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 925 patients with MG registered in the Department of Neuroimmunology, Henan Institute of Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from January 2015 to March 2021. RESULTS: One hundred six patients diagnosed with TNMG were included in the study. The average age of onset was 32.4 y, with a male-to-female ratio of 1:1. The age of onset showed a bimodal distribution: 0-9 y and 40-49 y. Adult patients were more likely to have weakness of limb and bulbar muscles (p < .05). Thymic hyperplasia was found in 20.2% of the patients. Younger patients were more likely to relapse. The rate of adult early-onset myasthenia gravis reaching complete stable remission and pharmacological remission was 47.6%, and the prognosis was better than that in juvenile-onset myasthenia gravis (p = .019). Older age of onset was the only risk factor for the development of generalized TNMG from ocular TNMG (R = 1.046, p = .002, 95% confidence interval 1.017-1.077). DISCUSSION: This study showed that the clinical characteristics of patients with TNMG varied among the different age groups. Significant findings included a bimodal distribution of onset age, coexisting thymic hyperplasia, and a generally favorable prognosis.

BACKGROUND: The fear of hypoglycemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients with hypoglycemia has seriously affected their quality of life. They are always afraid of hypoglycemia and often take excessive action to avoid it. Yet, researchers have investigated the relationship between hypoglycemia worries and excessive avoiding hypoglycemia behavior using total scores on self-report measures. However, network analysis studies of hypoglycemia worries and excessive avoiding hypoglycemia behavior in T2DM patients with hypoglycemia are lacking. PURPOSE: The present study investigated the network structure of hypoglycemia worries and avoiding hypoglycemia behavior in T2DM patients with hypoglycemia and aimed to identify bridge items to help them correctly treat hypoglycemia and properly deal with hypoglycemia fear. METHODS: A total of 283 T2DM patients with hypoglycemia were enrolled in our study. Hypoglycemia worries and avoiding hypoglycemia behavior were evaluated with the Hypoglycemia Fear Scale. Network analyses were used for the statistical analysis. RESULTS: B9 "Had to stay at home for fear of hypoglycemia" and W12 "I am worried that hypoglycemia will affect my judgment" have the highest expected influences in the present network. In the community of hypoglycemia worries, W17 "I worry about hypoglycemia during sleep" has the highest bridge expected influence. And in the community of avoiding hypoglycemia behavior, B9 "Had to stay at home for fear of hypoglycemia" has the highest bridge expected influence. CONCLUSION: Complex patterns of associations existed in the relationship between hypoglycemia worries and avoiding hypoglycemia behavior in T2DM patients with hypoglycemia. From the perspective of network analysis, B9 "Had to stay at home for fear of hypoglycemia" and W12 "I am worried that hypoglycemia will affect my judgment" have the highest expected influence, indicating their highest importance in the network. W17 "I worry about hypoglycemia during sleep" aspect of hypoglycemia worries and B9 "Had to stay at home for fear of hypoglycemia" aspect of avoiding hypoglycemia behavior have the highest bridge expected influence, indicating they have the strongest connections with each community. These results have important implications for clinical practice, which provided potential targets for interventions to reduce hypoglycemia fear and improve the quality of life in T2DM patients with hypoglycemia.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to identify the common pathways and hub genes related to oxidative stress (OS) and autophagy of both annulus fibrosus (AF) and nucleus pulposus (NP) in intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) based on the data obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. METHODS: The Gene expression data for human intervertebral discs was obtained from the GEO database, including the AF and NP of both non-degenerated disc and degenerated disc. The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified using the limma package in R language. DEGs related to OS and autophagy were obtained using Gene Ontology (GO) database. Analyses of the GO, signaling pathways, protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks, and hub genes were performed using AnnotationDbi package, DAVID, GSEA, STRING database, and Cytoscape software, respectively. Finally, the online tool of NetworkAnalyst and the Drug Signatures database (DSigDB) were used to screen for transcriptional factors and potential drugs of the hub genes. RESULTS: There were 908 genes associated with OS and autophagy found. A total of 52 DEGs were identified, included five upregulated and 47 downregulated genes. These DEGs were mainly involved in mTOR signaling pathway and the NOD-like receptor signaling pathway. The top 10 hub genes were CAT, GAPDH, PRDX1, PRDX4, TLR4, GPX7, GPX8, MSRA, RPTOR, GABARAPL1. Besides, FOXC1, PPARG, RUNX2, JUN, and YY1 were identified as the key regulatory factors of hub genes. L-cysteine, oleanolic acid, and berberine were potential therapeutic agents for the treatment of IDD. CONCLUSIONS: Common hub genes, signaling pathways, transcription factors, and potential drugs associated with OS and autophagy were identified, which provides significant basis for further mechanism research and drug screening of IDD.

AIM: This study aimed to examine the association of job-related stressors and insomnia; to determine the association of psychological capital and insomnia; and to explore whether psychological capital mediates the association between job-related stressors and insomnia among Chinese nurses. DESIGN: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey. METHODS: The STROBE statement was utilized to guide the study. A total of 810 nurses from one tertiary grade hospital in Shan Dong Province, China, were recruited for the present study and a total of 658 valid questionnaires were obtained (effective recovery rate: 81.2%). The study survey consisted of demographic variables, psychological capital, job stress and insomnia. Descriptive analysis, independent-samples T-test, one-way analysis of variance, stratified regression analysis, Pearson correlation analyses, ordinary least-squares regression and the bootstrap method were used to analyse data. RESULTS: Findings of the study determined that demographic, work-related, behavioural and work setting (i.e. working hours, chronic disease, negative life events, smoking behaviour and night shift) factors were differentially associated with experiences of insomnia. The empirical study showed that psychological capital had statistically significant mediating effects between job stressors and insomnia. PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION: This study explored the factors associated with nurses' psychological job stressors and insomnia. Some of the associated factors could be used for the prevention and mitigation of psychosocial dysfunction among nurses. This study found nurses in surgery, emergency department, ICU, working >40 h a week, with chronic illness, experiencing negative life events, shift work and high effort, high overcommitment and low reward had higher scores of insomnia respectively. The results of this study also showed that reward was correlated with the increase of psychological capital, and the increase of psychological capital was correlated with the decrease of insomnia in nurses. On the contrary, effort and overcommitment decreased psychological capital, and then increased insomnia among nurses. These findings have important implications for future research and policy interventions to improve sleep quality of nurses and enhance nurses' health and patients' safety. This study significantly suggests that improving nurses' psychological capital is a potential way to help nurses improve sleep quality when psychosocial job stressors are difficult external environment to change.

Intervertebral disk degeneration (IDD) is a chronic inflammatory disease with intricate connections between immune infiltration and oxidative stress (OS). Complex cell niches exist in degenerative intervertebral disk (IVD) and interact with each other and regulate the disk homeostasis together. However, few studies have used longitudinal approach to describe the immune response of IDD progression. Here, we conducted conjoint analysis of bulk-RNA sequencing and single-cell sequencing, together with a series of techniques like weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), immune infiltration analysis, and differential analysis, to systematically decipher the difference in OS-related functions of different cell populations within degenerative IVD tissues, and further depicted the longitudinal alterations of immune cells, especially monocytes/macrophages in the progression of IDD. The OS-related genes CYP1A1, MMP1, CCND1, and NQO1 are highly expressed and might be diagnostic biomarkers for the progression of IDD. Further landscape of IVD microenvironment showed distinct changes in cell proportions and characteristics at late degeneration compared to early degeneration of IDD. Monocytes/macrophages were classified into five distinct subpopulations with different roles. The trajectory lineage analysis revealed transcriptome alterations from effector monocytes/macrophages and regulatory macrophages to other subtypes during the evolution process and identified monocytes/macrophage subpopulations that had rapidly experienced the activation of inflammatory or anti-inflammatory responses. This study further proposed that personalized therapeutic strategies are needed to be formulated based on specific monocyte/macrophage subtypes and degenerative stages of IDD.

Objective: UAV-based multispectral detection and identification technology for ground injured human targets, is a novel and promising unmanned technology for public health and safety IoT applications, such as outdoor lost injured searching and battlefield casualty searching, and our previous research has demonstrated its feasibility. However, in practical applications, the searched human target always exhibits low target-background contrast relative to the vast and diverse surrounding environment, and the ground environment also shifts randomly during the UAV cruise process. These two key factors make it difficult to achieve highly robust, stable, and accurate recognition performance under the cross-scene situation. Methods: This paper proposes a cross-scene multi-domain feature joint optimization (CMFJO) for cross-scene outdoor static human target recognition. Results: In the experiments, we first investigated the impact severity of the cross-scene problem and the necessity to solve it by designing 3 typical single-scene experiments. Experimental results show that although a single-scene model holds good recognition capability for its scenes (96.35% in desert scenes, 99.81% in woodland scenes, and 97.39% in urban scenes), its recognition performance for other scenes deteriorates sharply (below 75% overall) after scene changes. On the other hand, the proposed CMFJO method was also validated using the same cross-scene feature dataset. The recognition results for both individual scene and composite scene show that this method could achieve an average classification accuracy of 92.55% under cross-scene situation. Discussion: This study first tried to construct an excellent cross-scene recognition model for the human target recognition, named CMFJO method, which is based on multispectral multi-domain feature vectors with scenario-independent, stable and efficient target recognition capability. It will significantly improve the accuracy and usability of UAV-based multispectral technology method for outdoor injured human target search in practical applications and provide a powerful supporting technology for public safety and health.

Parabens are endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) that have estrogen-like activities and may cause male reproductive disorders. Here, we developed a method for the simultaneous determination of four parabens (MeP, EtP, n-PrP, n-BuP) and two metabolites (4-HB and 3,4-DHB) in human seminal plasma by UPLC-MS/MS. The method was used to analyze 144 seminal plasma samples from Chinese males. MeP, EtP, n-PrP, and 4-HB were the dominant compounds. MeP, EtP, and n-PrP were significantly correlated to each other. In addition, 4-HB was significantly correlated to MeP, EtP, n-PrP, and 3,4-DHB, respectively. The results provide direct evidence that parabens and their metabolites are widely distributed in the male reproductive system. The study presents the paraben metabolites levels in human seminal plasma for the first time.

The impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic on patients with neurodegenerative diseases and the specific neurological manifestations of COVID-19 have aroused great interest. However, there are still many issues of concern to be clarified. Therefore, we review the current literature on the complex relationship between COVID-19 and neurodegenerative diseases with an emphasis on Parkinson's disease (PD) and Alzheimer's disease (AD). We summarize the impact of COVID-19 infection on symptom severity, disease progression, and mortality rate of PD and AD, and discuss whether COVID-19 infection could trigger PD and AD. In addition, the susceptibility to and the prognosis of COVID-19 in PD patients and AD patients are also included. In order to achieve better management of PD and AD patients, modifications of care strategies, specific drug therapies, and vaccines during the pandemic are also listed. At last, mechanisms underlying the link of COVID-19 with PD and AD are reviewed.

This study elucidates the association between urinary zinc concentration and the risk of developing dyslipidemia and its subtypes in China's ethnic minority residents. Based on the baseline survey data of the Chinese Multi-Ethnic Cohort (CMEC) study, 10,620 subjects were included in the study. Logistic regression analysis evaluated the relationship between urinary zinc concentration and dyslipidemia and its subtypes. After adjustment, compared with urinary zinc concentration quartile 1 (Q1), the odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) of dyslipidemia participants in the quartile 2 (Q2), quartile 3 (Q3), and quartile 4 (Q4) groups were 1.091 (0.963, 1.237), 1.151 (1.051, 1.304), and 1.393 (1.230, 1.579), respectively (P for trend < 0.001). While that of hypertriglyceridemia participants in the Q2, Q3, and Q4 groups were 1.130 (0.979, 1.306), 1.283 (1.113, 1.480), and 1.483 (1.287, 1.709), respectively (P for trend < 0.001). Lastly, the ORs and 95% CIs of hyperbetalipoproteinemia participants in the Q2, Q3, and Q4 groups were 1.166 (0.945, 1.439), 1.238 (1.007, 1.522), and 1.381 (1.126, 1.695), respectively (P for trend < 0.002). This study found that urinary zinc concentrations were not associated with hypercholesterolemia and hypoalphalipoproteinemia. The dose-response relationship was non-linear between urinary zinc concentration and dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia and hyperbetalipoproteinemia (P for trend < 0.001). In the stratified analysis, urinary zinc levels were positively associated with the risk of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and hyperbetalipoproteinemia in male, ≥ 60 years old, Miao nationality, hypertension, diabetes, and BMI ≥ 24.0 kg/m2 subgroups. Our study provides some possible evidence that elevated urinary zinc concentrations are associated with an increased risk of dyslipidemia, hypertriglyceridemia, hyperbetalipoproteinemia.

Metals play an important role in the development of diabetes mellitus (DM). The association of metals with diabetes among the Dong ethnicity in China remains poorly understood. The current study aimed to evaluate the association of single metal exposure and multi-metal co-exposure with DM risk. Urinary concentrations of arsenic, cadmium, chromium, copper, iron, lead, manganese, mercury, molybdenum, nickel, strontium, vanadium, and zinc were measured using inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) among 4479 Dong ethnic participants aged 30-79 years from the China Multi-Ethnic Cohort (CMEC) study. Based on tertiles, the metal exposure can be divided into three groups: low, middle, and high exposure. Multivariate logistic regression models and principal component analysis were performed to determine exposure to single-metal and multi-metal co-exposure in relation to DM. A decrease in risk of DM was associated with iron (OR = 0.78, 95% CI: 0.61-1.00 and 0.68, 0.53-0.88 for the middle and high vs. low) and strontium (OR = 0.87, 95% CI: 0.69-1.12 and 0.67, 0.51-0.86 for the middle and high vs. low), respectively. A principal component 3 (PC3) characterized by iron and strontium showed an inverse association with DM. A principal component 4 (PC4) characterized by manganese and lead positively associated with DM. Exposure to high concentrations of urinary iron and strontium may reduce the risk of diabetes mellitus. This study revealed an increase in the risk of diabetes mellitus by co-exposure to high concentrations of urinary manganese and lead.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is characterized by autoimmune damage to the postsynaptic membrane of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ) with impaired postsynaptic acetylcholine receptor (AChR) aggregation. Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 4 (LRP4) plays an important role in AChR aggregation at endplate membranes via the Agrin-LRP4-muscle-specific receptor tyrosine kinase (MuSK) cascade. Sorting nexin 17 (SNX17) regulates the degradation and recycling of various internalized membrane proteins. However, whether SNX17 regulates LRP4 remains unclear. Therefore, we examined the regulatory effects of SNX17 on LRP4 and its influence on AChR aggregation in MG. We selected C2C12 myotubes and induced LRP4 internalization via stimulation with anti-LRP4 antibody and confirmed intracellular interaction between SNX17 and LRP4. SNX17 knockdown and overexpression confirmed that SNX17 promoted MuSK phosphorylation and AChR aggregation by increasing cell surface LRP4 expression. By establishing experimental autoimmune MG (EAMG) mouse models, we identified that SNX17 upregulation improved fragmentation of the AChR structure at the NMJ and alleviated leg weakness in EAMG mice. Thus, these results reveal that SNX17 may be a novel target for future MG therapy.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical and radiological outcomes of distal radius fractures (DRFs) with displaced dorsal ulnar fragments treated with volar locking plate (VLP) and the "poking reduction" technique. METHODS: Between January 2014 and January 2019, 78 unilateral DRFs with displaced dorsal ulnar fragment (AO type C3) treated with VLP were conducted. According to the reduction technique of the dorsal ulnar fragment, the patients were divided into the conventional reduction (CRG) group (33 patients, 14 males and 19 females, mean age 57.2 ± 12.1 years old) and the "poking reduction" (PRG) group (45 patients, 11 males and 34 females, mean age 60.1 ± 12.4 years old). According to the AO classification, there were 21 cases of C3.1 and 12 of C3.2 in the CPG group, 27 cases of C3.1 and 18 of C3.2 in the PRG group. Clinical and radiographic data were extracted from the electronic medical record system. These data were reviewed for clinical outcomes (range of motion, grip strength), radiological outcomes (volar tilt, radial inclination, radial height, step of articular surface), and postoperative complications. The final functional recovery was evaluated by the disabilities of the arm, shoulder, and hand (DASH) score. RESULTS: The mean duration of follow-up was 27 months (range from 12 to 56). The average operation time and intraoperative blood loss did not significantly differ between groups (p > 0.05). Postoperative CT examination showed that the step of articular surface in CPG group (0.8 ± 0.3 mm) was larger than that in PRG group (0.5 ± 0.2 mm) (p < 0.001). The DASH score did not significantly differ between groups (26.1 ± 4.6 in CRG and 24.7 ± 4.0 in PRG, p > 0.05) at 3 months postoperatively. At 6 months and 12 months postoperatively, the DASH score was better in PRG group (11.8 ± 2.5 and 10.4 ± 2.0) than in CRG group (13.6 ± 2.7 and 12.2 ± 2.5) (p = 0.004, p = 0.001, respectively). At 12 months postoperatively, wrist range of motion did not significantly differ between groups (p > 0.05). There was no significant difference in radiological parameters between the two groups (p > 0.05). The incidence of complications was higher in the CRG group (7/33) than in the PRG group (2/45) (p = 0.009). CONCLUSION: The "poking reduction" technique is a wise option for reduction of dorsal ulnar fragment in DRFs. This innovative technique could restore smoothness of the radiocarpal joint effectively, and the dorsal ulnar fragment could be fixed effectively combined with the volar plate.

In this present study, catechol was added to promote humus formation in chicken manure composting using 12.5-L working volume lab-scale reactors. Chicken manure composting were carried out on two treatments, control (CK) and 0.5% (w/w) catechol treated group. Results showed that catechol addition reduced organic matter loss and improved the content of recalcitrant components. Humus and humic acid (HA) contents were, respectively, 69.2% and 82.3% higher in catechol treated-compost than in the control. With the addition of catechol, the bacterial community composition and richness was changed, e.g., the relative percentage of Bacillus and Sinibacillus were increased, which might contribute to humus and HA formation. Additionally, the activities of polyphenol oxidase and laccase (related to humus formation) were increased by the addition of catechol. Importantly, the catechol addition reduced the polyphenol content by 39.6% compared to control. Overall, the addition of catechol enhanced the biotic and abiotic factors to promote the humification process during composting, which might be a promising approach for accelerating the humification process and reducing contamination of phenolic compounds.
