RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Choline, an indispensable nutrient, plays a pivotal role in various physiological processes. The available evidence regarding the nexus between dietary choline intake and health outcomes, encompassing cardiovascular disease (CVD), cancer, and all-cause mortality, is limited and inconclusive. This study aimed to comprehensively explore the relationship between dietary choline intake and the aforementioned health outcomes in adults aged > 20 years in the U.S. METHODS: This study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey between 2011 and 2018. Dietary choline intake was evaluated using two 24-h dietary recall interviews. CVD and cancer status were determined through a combination of standardized medical status questionnaires and self-reported physician diagnoses. Mortality data were gathered from publicly available longitudinal Medicare and mortality records. The study utilized survey-weighted logistic and Cox regression analyses to explore the associations between choline consumption and health outcomes. Restricted cubic spline (RCS) analysis was used for dose‒response estimation and for testing for nonlinear associations. RESULTS: In our study of 14,289 participants (mean age 48.08 years, 47.71% male), compared with those in the lowest quintile (Q1), the adjusted odds ratios (ORs) of CVD risk in the fourth (Q4) and fifth (Q5) quintiles of choline intake were 0.70 (95% CI 0.52, 0.95) and 0.65 (95% CI 0.47, 0.90), respectively (p for trend = 0.017). Each 100 mg increase in choline intake was associated with a 9% reduced risk of CVD. RCS analysis revealed a linear correlation between choline intake and CVD risk. Moderate choline intake (Q3) was associated with a reduced risk of mortality, with an HR of 0.75 (95% CI 0.60-0.94) compared with Q1. RCS analysis demonstrated a significant nonlinear association between choline intake and all-cause mortality (P for nonlinearity = 0.025). The overall cancer prevalence association was nonsignificant, except for colon cancer, where each 100 mg increase in choline intake indicated a 23% reduced risk. CONCLUSION: Elevated choline intake demonstrates an inverse association with CVD and colon cancer, while moderate consumption exhibits a correlated reduction in mortality. Additional comprehensive investigations are warranted to elucidate the broader health implications of choline.

RESUMO

Cadmium poses a severe health risk, impacting various bodily systems. Monitoring human exposure is vital. Urine and blood cadmium serve as critical biomarkers. However, current urine and blood cadmium detection methods are expensive and complex. Being cost-effective, user-friendly, and efficient, visual biosensing offers a promising complement to existing techniques. Therefore, we constructed a cadmium whole-cell biosensor using CadR10 and deoxyviolacein pigment in this study. We assessed the sensor for time-dose response, specific response to cadmium, sensitivity response to cadmium, and stability response to cadmium. The results showed that (1) the sensor had a preferred signal-to-noise ratio when the incubation time was 4 h; (2) the sensor showed excellent specificity for cadmium compared to the group 12 metals and lead; (3) the sensor was responsive to cadmium down to 1.53 nM under experimental conditions and had good linearity over a wide range from 1.53 nM to 100 µM with good linearity (R2 = 0.979); and (4) the sensor had good stability. Based on the excellent results of the performance tests, we developed a cost-effective, high-throughput method for detecting urinary and blood cadmium. Specifically, this was realized by adding the blood or urine samples into the culture system in a particular proportion. Then, the whole-cell biosensor was subjected to culture, n-butanol extraction, and microplate reading. The results showed that (1) at 20% urine addition ratio, the sensor had an excellent curvilinear relationship (R2 = 0.986) in the range of 3.05 nM to 100 µM, and the detection limit could reach 3.05 nM. (2) At a 10% blood addition ratio, the sensor had an excellent nonlinear relationship (R2 = 0.978) in the range of 0.097-50 µM, and the detection limit reached 0.195 µM. Overall, we developed a sensitive and wide-range method based on a whole-cell biosensor for the detection of cadmium in blood and urine, which has the advantages of being cost-effective, ease of operation, fast response, and low dependence on instrumentation and has the potential to be applied in the monitoring of cadmium exposure in humans as a complementary to the mainstream detection techniques.

RESUMO

A series of biological experiments has demonstrated that circular RNAs play a crucial regulatory role in cellular processes and may be potentially associated with diseases. Uncovering these connections helps in understanding potential disease mechanisms and advancing the development of treatment strategies. However, in biology, traditional experiments face limitations in terms of efficiency and cost, especially when enumerating possible associations. To address these limitations, several computational methods have been proposed, but existing methods only measure from a nodal perspective and cannot capture structural similarities between edges. In this study, we introduce an advanced computational method called SATPIC2CD for analyzing potential associations between circular RNAs and diseases. Specifically, we first employ an Structure-Aware Graph Transformer (SAT), which extracts five predefined metapath representations before calculating attention. This adaptive network integrates structural information into the original self-attention by aggregating information within and between paths. Subsequently, we use Path Integral Convolutional Networks (PACN) to integrate feature information for all path weights between two nodes. Afterward, we complement the network node features with feature loss and feature smoothing using Gated Recurrent Units (GRU) and node centrality. Finally, a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) is employed to obtain the ultimate prediction scores for each circular RNA-disease pair. SATPIC2CD performs remarkably well, with an accuracy of up to 0.9715 measured by the Area Under the Curve (AUC) in a 5-fold cross-validation, surpassing other comparative models. Case studies further emphasize the high precision of our method in identifying circular RNA-disease associations, laying a solid foundation for guiding future biological research efforts.

RESUMO

Physiological signal monitoring and driver behavior analysis have gained increasing attention in both fundamental research and applied research. This study involved the analysis of driving behavior using multimodal physiological data collected from 35 participants. The data included 59-channel EEG, single-channel ECG, 4-channel EMG, single-channel GSR, and eye movement data obtained via a six-degree-of-freedom driving simulator. We categorized driving behavior into five groups: smooth driving, acceleration, deceleration, lane changing, and turning. Through extensive experiments, we confirmed that both physiological and vehicle data met the requirements. Subsequently, we developed classification models, including linear discriminant analysis (LDA), MMPNet, and EEGNet, to demonstrate the correlation between physiological data and driving behaviors. Notably, we propose a multimodal physiological dataset for analyzing driving behavior(MPDB). The MPDB dataset's scale, accuracy, and multimodality provide unprecedented opportunities for researchers in the autonomous driving field and beyond. With this dataset, we will contribute to the field of traffic psychology and behavior.

RESUMO

Neural networks are increasingly used to solve optimization problems in various fields, including operations research, design automation, and gene sequencing. However, these networks face challenges due to the nondeterministic polynomial time (NP)-hard issue, which results in exponentially increasing computational complexity as the problem size grows. Conventional digital hardware struggles with the von Neumann bottleneck, the slowdown of Moore's law, and the complexity arising from heterogeneous system design. Two-dimensional (2D) memristors offer a potential solution to these hardware challenges, with their in-memory computing, decent scalability, and rich dynamic behaviors. In this study, we explore the use of nonvolatile 2D memristors to emulate synapses in a discrete-time Hopfield neural network, enabling the network to solve continuous optimization problems, like finding the minimum value of a quadratic polynomial, and tackle combinatorial optimization problems like Max-Cut. Additionally, we coupled volatile memristor-based oscillators with nonvolatile memristor synapses to create an oscillatory neural network-based Ising machine, a continuous-time analog dynamic system capable of solving combinatorial optimization problems including Max-Cut and map coloring through phase synchronization. Our findings demonstrate that 2D memristors have the potential to significantly enhance the efficiency, compactness, and homogeneity of integrated Ising machines, which is useful for future advances in neural networks for optimization problems.

RESUMO

Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) has gained considerable attention in the management of head and neck cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (HNcSCC). The aim of this study was to compare the oncologic outcomes between observation and SLNB in cN0 high-risk HNcSCC patients. We retrospectively enrolled patients from the SEER database and evaluated the impact of observation versus SLNB on disease-specific survival (DSS) and overall survival (OS) using a Propensity Score Matching (PSM) analysis. A total of 9804 patients were included, with 1169 cases treated by SLNB. Successful retrieval of the sentinel lymph node was achieved in 1130 procedures. After PSM and subsequent multivariate analysis, SLNB was found to be an independent predictor for improved DSS, with a hazard ratio of 0.70 (95% confidence interval: 0.56-0.86). In patients presenting with two or three high-risk factors, SLNB was associated with better DSS (p = 0.021 and p = 0.044), but similar OS (p = 0.506 and p = 0.801) when compared to observation. However, in patients exhibiting four high-risk factors, SLNB demonstrated significantly improved DSS (p = 0.040) and OS (p = 0.028) compared to observation. Our findings suggest that SLNB is a highly feasible technique in HNcSCC and provides significant survival benefits. It is strongly recommended in patients with two or more high-risk factors, as it can help guide treatment decisions and improve patient outcomes.

RESUMO

Intermediary-purveyor organizations (IPOs) are a type of dissemination support system that are intended to enhance the adoption and sustainment of empirically supported treatments (ESTs) by deploying empirically supported strategies to remediate implementation challenges. Despite the recent proliferation of government-funded IPOs for other psychiatric populations, IPOs that can redress the substantial science-to-practice gap among clients who experience psychotic disorders are not well documented. This article provides an overview of an IPO in an R1 academic medical center whose mission is to enhance access to evidence-based interventions for individuals who have or are at risk for a psychotic disorder. The article spotlights the functions of an IPO and illustrates these functions with a use case, cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis. We highlight IPO-led activities related to cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis purveyance, professional development, quality improvement, public awareness education and training, research and evaluation, as well as program and policy development. Finally, we address the advantages and disadvantages of establishing IPOs of this nature in academic medical centers, the importance of academic-community partnerships in advancing EST implementation, and present considerations for replication. RESUMO

Low temperatures occurring at the booting stage in rice (Oryza sativa L.) often result in yield loss by impeding male reproductive development. However, the underlying mechanisms by which rice responds to cold at this stage remain largely unknown. Here, we identified MITOCHONDRIAL ACYL CARRIER PROTEIN 2 (OsMTACP2), the encoded protein of which mediates lipid metabolism involved in the cold response at the booting stage. Loss of OsMTACP2 function compromised cold tolerance, hindering anther cuticle and pollen wall development, resulting in abnormal anther morphology, lower pollen fertility and seed setting. OsMTACP2 was highly expressed in tapetal cells and microspores during anther development, with the encoded protein localizing to both mitochondria and the cytoplasm. Comparative transcriptomic analysis revealed differential expression of genes related to lipid metabolism between the wild type and the Osmtacp2-1 mutant in response to cold. Through a lipidomic analysis, we demonstrated that wax esters, which are the primary lipid components of the anther cuticle and pollen walls, function as cold-responsive lipids. Their levels increased dramatically in the wild type but not in Osmtacp2-1 when exposed to cold. Additionally, mutants of two cold induced genes of wax ester biosynthesis, ECERIFERUM1 and WAX CRYSTAL-SPARSE LEAF2, showed decreased cold tolerance. These results suggest that OsMTACP2-mediated wax ester biosynthesis is essential for cold tolerance in rice at the booting stage.

RESUMO

Ion migration activated by illumination is a critical factor responsible for the performance decline and stability degradation of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). While ion migration has been widely believed to be much slower than charge transport, recent research suggests that, despite the lack of understanding of the mechanism, it may also be involved in a series of rapid photoelectric responses of PSCs. Here, we report an improved circuit-switched transient photoelectric technique with nanosecond temporal resolution, which enables quantitative characterization of ion migration dynamics in PSCs across a fairly broad time window. Specifically, ion migration occurring within microseconds after illumination (corresponding to a diffusion length of ∼10-7 cm) is unambiguously identified. In conjunction with the composition engineering protocol, we justify that it arises from the short-range migration of halide anions and organic cations around the contact/perovskite interface. The rapid ion migration kinetics revealed in this work strongly complement the well-established ion migration model, which offers new insights into the mechanism of ion-carrier interaction in PSC devices.

RESUMO

Introduction: The anti-cancer potency of copper-doped carbon quantum dots (Cu-CDs) against breast cancer progression needs more detailed investigations. Methods: With urea and ethylene glycol applied as carbon sources and copper sulfate used as a reactive dopant, Cu-CDs were synthesized in the current study by a one-step hydrothermal synthesis method, followed by the characterization and biocompatibility evaluations of Cu-CDs. Subsequently, the anti-cancer potency of Cu-CDs against breast cancer progression was confirmed by these biochemical, molecular, and transcriptomic assessments, including viability, proliferation, migration, invasion, adhesion, clonogenicity, cell cycle distribution, apoptosis, redox homeostasis, and transcriptomic assays of MDA-MB-231 cells. Results: The biocompatibility of Cu-CDs was confirmed based on the non-significant changes in the pathological and physiological parameters in the Cu-CDs treated mice, as well as the noncytotoxic effect of Cu-CDs on normal cells. Moreover, the Cu-CDs treatments not only decreased the viability, proliferation, migration, invasion, adhesion, and clonogenicity of MDA-MB-231 cells but also induced the redox imbalance, cell cycle arrest, and apoptosis of MDA-MB-231 cells via ameliorating the mitochondrial dysfunctions and regulating the MAPK signaling pathway. Conclusion: Our findings confirmed the biosafety and excellent anti-cancer potency of Cu-CDs against breast cancer progression by tapping into mechanisms that disrupt malignant behaviors and oxidative homeostasis of breast cancer cells.

RESUMO

The electroencephalogram-based (EEG) brain-computer interface (BCI) has garnered significant attention in recent research. However, the practicality of EEG remains constrained by the lack of efficient EEG decoding technology. The challenge lies in effectively translating intricate EEG into meaningful, generalizable information. EEG signal decoding primarily relies on either time domain or frequency domain information. There lacks a method capable of simultaneously and effectively extracting both time and frequency domain features, as well as efficiently fuse these features. Addressing these limitations, a two-branch Manifold Domain enhanced transformer algorithm is designed to holistically capture EEG's spatio-temporal information. Our method projects the time-domain information of EEG signals into the Riemannian spaces to fully decode the time dependence of EEG signals. Using wavelet transform, the time domain information is converted into frequency domain information, and the spatial information contained in the frequency domain information of EEG signal is mined through the spectrogram. The effectiveness of the proposed TBEEG algorithm is validated on BCIC-IV-2a dataset and MAMEM-SSVEP-II datasets.

RESUMO

The ultra-sensitive detection of strychnine is crucial to provide powerful evidence in strychnine poisoning cases. In this study, a novel fluorescent carbon dots (CDs) self-assembled gold nanocage (AuNCs) composite is synthesized for the ultra-sensitive detection of strychnine using molecularly imprinted polymer sensing technology (MIPs-CDs@AuNCs). With strong loading and delivery capability of AuNCs, the CDs could be loaded into AuNCs, where the anisotropy of CDs could significantly decrease and the fluorescence of the MIPs-CDs@AuNCs probe gained lower relative standard deviation (RSD). Moreover, the fluorescence response of MIPs-CDs@AuNCs to target strychnine was observed to be more significant than MIPs-CDs without gold nanocages. Under optimal conditions, the developed MIPs-CDs@AuNCs fluorescence strategy showed good linear relationship at the concentration of strychnine from 3 ng mL-1 to 200 ng mL-1 with the limit of detection as low as 1 ng mL-1. Besides, real blood samples were analyzed without complex pre-preparation procedure to investigate the performance of the proposed molecularly imprinted fluorescence probe, and satisfactory results were obtained with absolute deviations between -1.16 ng mL-1 and 1.28 ng mL-1, which exhibited a great potential for the detection of strychnine in health care work.

RESUMO

Hypolithic communities, which occupy highly specialised microhabitats beneath translucent rocks in desert and arid environments, have assembly mechanisms and ecosystem functions are not fully understood. Thus, in this study, we aimed to examine the microbial community structure, assembly, and function of light-accessible (under quartz, calcite, and hypolithic lichen-dominated biocrusts) and light-inaccessible microhabitats (under basalt and adjacent soil) in the Qaidam Desert, China. The results showed that hypolithic communities have different characteristics compared with microbial communities of light-inaccessible microhabitats. Notably, hypolithic bacterial communities were dominated by Cyanobacteria, whereas light-inaccessible microhabitats showed a predominance of Bacteroidetes and Proteobacteria. Although the class Dothideomycetes (phylum: Ascomycota) dominated the fungal communities between the two microhabitat types, Sordariomycetes were more prevalent in light-accessible microhabitats. Network and robustness analyses showed that hypolithic communities were less complex and more resilient than microbial communities in light-inaccessible microhabitats. Our results indicated that deterministic processes, specifically homogeneous selection, govern the establishment of bacterial and fungal communities in light-accessible and light-inaccessible microhabitats. The hypolithic community showed an increased frequency of phylotypes that exhibited increased tolerance to functional stress response pathways. In contrast to light-inaccessible microhabitats, light-accessible microhabitats showed a slight decrease and a notable increase in the prevalence of carbon fixation pathways in prokaryotes and carbon fixation in photosynthetic organisms, respectively. For fungi, light-accessible microhabitats enriched saprotrophic and ectomycorrhizal groups. These results highlight the importance of complex and diverse microhabitats in desert regions, which serve as vital shelters for microbes. Combining future research on interactions between hypolithic communities and environments may enhance our current understanding of their pivotal roles in sustaining desert ecosystems. This knowledge then be applied to design and implement informed conservation efforts to preserve these unique rock-associated microhabitats in desert ecosystems.

RESUMO

In this work, whiteness, water-holding capacity, gel strength, textural profile analysis were performed to examine the quality of fish balls with abalone (FBA). In addition, a correlation between quality and sensory properties was established. The addition of abalone significantly increased the water holding capacity, gel strength and textural properties of FBA, and decreased their whiteness, the best overall quality was achieved at 9 % w/w abalone addition. The E-nose and E-tongue results revealed that the addition of abalone changed the flavour of FBA. HS-SPME-GC-MS identified 65 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and proved to be effective in reducing fishy flavour. E-nose can distinguish between the VOCs in FBA. Moreover, Umami and 1-octen-3-ol can serve as important indicators to observe changes in the quality of FBA, as they were positively connected with WHC, gumminess, chewiness, resilience, a*, hexanal, etc. The results provided a theoretical basis for the development of abalone and surimi products.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: Malignant ascites (MA) often occurs in recurrent abdominal malignant tumors, and the large amount of ascites associated with cancerous peritonitis not only leads to severe abdominal distension and breathing difficulties, but also reduces the patient's quality of life and ability to resist diseases, which usually makes it difficult to carry out anti-cancer treatment. The exploration of MA treatment methods is also a key link in MA treatment. This article is going to review the treatment of MA, to provide details for further research on the treatment of MA, and to provide some guidance for the clinical treatment of MA. METHOD: This review analyzes various expert papers and summarizes them to obtain the paper. RESULT: There are various treatment methods for MA, including systemic therapy and local therapy. Among them, systemic therapy includes diuretic therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, anti angiogenic therapy, CAR-T, and vaccine. Local therapy includes puncture surgery, peritoneal vein shunt surgery, acellular ascites infusion therapy, radioactive nuclide intraperitoneal injection therapy, tunnel catheter, and intraperitoneal hyperthermia chemotherapy. And traditional Chinese medicine treatment has also played a role in enhancing efficacy and reducing toxicity to a certain extent. CONCLUSION: Although there has been significant progress in the treatment of MA, it is still one of the clinical difficulties. Exploring the combination or method of drugs with the best therapeutic effect and the least adverse reactions to control MA is still an urgent problem to be solved.

RESUMO

Hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography (HILIC) is widely used for glycopeptide enrichment in shot-gun glycoproteomics to enhance the glycopeptide signal and minimize the ionization competition of peptides. In this work, we have developed a novel hydrophilic material (glycoHILIC) based on glycopeptides and peptides to provide hydrophilic properties. GlycoHILIC was synthesized by oxidizing cotton and then reacting the resulting aldehyde with the N-terminus of the glycopeptide or peptide by reductive amination. Due to the large amount of hydrophilic carbohydrates and hydrophilic amino acids contained in glycopeptides, glycoHILIC showed significantly better enrichment of glycopeptides than cotton itself. Our results demonstrate that glycoHILIC has high selectivity, a low detection limit, and good stability. Over 257 unique N-linked glycosylation sites in 1477 intact N-glycopeptides from 146 glycoproteins were identified from 1 µL of human serum using glycoHILIC. Serum analysis of pancreatic cancer patients found that 38 N-glycopeptides among 21 glycoproteins changed significantly, of which 7 N-glycopeptides increased and 31 N-glycopeptides decreased. These results demonstrate that glycoHILIC can be used for glycopeptide enrichment and analysis.

RESUMO

Cultivated land is of great significance for ensuring food security. Since the 21st century, China's rapid development has led to urban construction occupying a lot of cultivated land. The understanding of stage characteristics and regional differences needs to be improved. And it is necessary to quantify the temporal and spatial pattern of cultivated land changes since the 21st century. We used the global land cover dataset (GlobeLand30) to investigate the quantity and spatial distribution of cultivated land change in China from 2000 to 2020. The results show that: 1) Over the last two decades, China's arable land has diminished by 54,996 square kilometers. Notably, the arable land loss between 2010 and 2020 was 1.74 times greater than that from 2000 to 2010. This decline has been exacerbated by factors such as the expansion of urban and rural areas, as well as initiatives to revert farmland to forests and grasslands; 2) The eastern coastal regions experienced the most severe net arable land loss, with a net reduction of 42,989 square kilometers from 2000 to 2020, primarily driven by urban expansion; 3) In contrast, the western regions demonstrated the most substantial net increase in arable land, expanding by 11,583 square kilometers from 2000 to 2020, primarily driven by the development of forests and grasslands. It is noteworthy that despite some areas successfully implementing policies to return farmland to forests and grasslands, the ecologically fragile western regions continue to experience accelerated conversion of these natural landscapes into arable land, partly to compensate for the farmland decrease driven by urbanization in the eastern regions. Looking ahead, China's cultivated protection policy must strike a balance between the ecological value of the western region and the economic value of the eastern region.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the early effect of high tibial osteotomy (HTO) compared with combined arthroscopic surgery. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on patients who underwent HTO at The First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University from January 2018 to January 2022. 138 patients (163 knees) with knee osteoarthritis (KOA) treated with HTO were selected. The medial proximal tibial angle (MPTA), joint line convergence angle (JLCA), femoral tibial angle (FTA), hip-knee-ankle (HKA) angle, weight-bearing line (WBL) ratio of the knee joint, opening gap, opening angle, American Knee Society score (KSS), US Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) score, and Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) score were measured to determine the different effects between HTO and HTO combined with arthroscopic by logistic regression analysis. Results: Patients with HTO combined with arthroscopic surgery have improved functional scores as well as imaging perspectives compared to preoperative. By multivariate logistic analysis, it was concluded that arthroscopic surgery and gender are influential factors in the outcome of HTO surgery. The postoperative KSS score was 2.702 times more likely to be classified as excellent in the HTO combined with arthroscopy group than in the HTO group [Exp (ß) = 2.702, 95% CI (1.049-6.961), P = 0.039]; the postoperative KSS score was 0.349 times more likely to be classified as excellent in women than in men [Exp (ß) = 0.349, 95% CI (0.138-0.883), P = 0.026]. Conclusion: Better results with HTO combined with arthroscopic surgery. HTO combined with arthroscopy is a better choice in the surgical treatment of KOA.

RESUMO

The current study was designed to investigate the alleviative effect of lactoferrin interventions against the hepatotoxicity induced by titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2-NPs). Thirty male Wistar rats were divided into six groups with 5 rats in each group. The first and second groups were intragastrically administered normal saline and TiO2-NPs (100 mg/kg body weight) as the negative control (NC) and TiO2-NP groups. The third, fourth, and fifth groups were intragastrically administered lactoferrin at concentrations of 100, 200, and 400 mg/kg body weight in addition to TiO2-NPs (100 mg/kg body weight). The sixth group was intragastrically administered Fuzheng Huayu (FZHY) capsules at a concentration of 4.6 g/kg body weight in addition to TiO2-NPs (100 mg/kg body weight) as the positive control group. After treatment for 4 weeks, the concentrations of lactoferrin were optimized based on the liver index and function results. Subsequently, the alleviative effects of lactoferrin interventions against TiO2-NP-induced hepatotoxicity in rat liver tissues, including the effects on histological damage, oxidative stress-related damage, inflammation, fibrosis, DNA damage, apoptosis, and gene expression, were investigated using histopathological, biochemical, and transcriptomic assays. The results showed that 200 mg/kg lactoferrin interventions for 4 weeks not only ameliorated the liver dysfunction and histopathological damage caused by TiO2-NP exposure but also inhibited the oxidative stress-related damage, inflammation, fibrosis, DNA damage, and apoptosis in the liver tissues of TiO2-NP-exposed rats. The transcriptomic results confirmed that the alleviative effect of lactoferrin interventions against the TiO2-NP exposure-induced hepatotoxicity was related to the activation of the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway.
