RESUMO

Reactor configuration, control strategy and inoculation method were key factors affecting the rapid start-up of partial nitrification/anammox (PN/A) process and the efficient enrichment of functional bacteria (anammox and ammonia oxidizing bacteria). At present, PN/A process was generally operated through single factor rather than forming a system. In this study, a novel aerobic-biofilm/anaerobic-granular nitrogen removal system (OANRS) was constructed, which consisted of a multi-stage aerobic-biofilm/anaerobic-granular baffle reactor (MOABR) and a control strategy on pH/aeration time. PN process was started within 10d, and PN/A process was started on the basis of stable PN process within 41d. The simultaneous enrichment of functional bacteria was achieved by combining the advantages of single-stage and two-stage PN/A process. The results of high-throughput sequencing showed that Candidatus Kuenenia (20.42 ± 15.88%) was highly enriched in each compartment at day 98, and the relative abundance of Candidatus Kuenenia in the anaerobic compartment R4 was as high as 43.13%.

RESUMO

During the mining of rare earth mineral, the use of lanthanum-containing fertilizers, and the disposal of lanthanum-containing electronic products, the content of lanthanum (La(III)) in typical ammonia wastewater with low carbon to nitrogen ratio is increasing day by day. Here, effects of La(III) on anammox process in performance, microbial community structure, metabolic function, and microbial co-occurrence network were investigated. The results shown that the nitrogen removal efficiency was declines briefly and then gradually recovers after low dosage (1-5 mg/L) La(III) treatment and the decrease to low level (24.25 ± 1.74%) under high La(III) dosage (10 mg/L). La(III) in the range of 1-5 mg/L significantly promoted the relative abundance of Anammoxoglobus (0.024% to 9.762%). The blocking of key metabolic pathways was confirmed to cause the breakdown of anammox by PICRUSt. Furthermore, network analysis revealed that lack of cooperation bacteria limits the activity of Anammoxoglobus.

RESUMO

Non-linear effects and intensity noise characteristics are critical factors that influence the performance of fiber communication systems as well as fiber-based sensors. It is observed in our experiment that relative intensity noise (RIN) subsequent to fiber transmission has a strong dependence on laser linewidth. Over a short transmission distance, RIN decreases with a narrowing laser linewidth. For longer distances, a narrower laser linewidth will result in a smaller RIN in a frequency range higher than 1 MHz and a larger RIN in a low-frequency range. In this study, the Brillouin linewidth parameter is introduced into a stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) three-wave coupling equation to simulate RIN variation phenomenon. Excellent agreement between the theoretical and experimental RIN spectra was obtained. We initially prove that the phenomenon is primarily owing to SBS. It is believed that the experimentally observed phenomena and theoretical justification presented in this study is significant in improving the performance of communication systems and fiber-based sensors.

RESUMO

A microwave photonic system which can simultaneously realize the functions of rapidly tunable Doppler frequency shift (DFS) and high fidelity storage of broadband RF signals is proposed and verified. Single-sideband carrier-suppression modulation combined with dual-AOM frequency shifting ensures large-range and fast-responding DFS. And time-gated semiconductor amplifier (SOA) based fiber delay loop can realize high-fidelity RF pulse storage with high extinction ratio switching and amplification characteristics of time-gated SOA. A spurious rejection ratio greater than 40 dB, tuning range of DFS greater than ± 3 MHz, response speed of DFS less than 30 ns, and high fidelity storage of 4 GHz-12 GHz RF signals with greater than 381 circulations (corresponding 80 us delay time) are realized by the proposed structure. The maximum signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is 13.6 dB within 381 circulations. Based on the experimental data, the simulation results show that the delay time also could be extended to 10 times more.

RESUMO

This paper investigated how a polarization state influences frequency noise measurement accuracy of the short-delayed self-homodyne interference method. An autopolarization control method was demonstrated to mitigate polarization-induced fading (PIF) in a 120-deg phase difference Mach-Zehnder Interferometer (MZI). This method used a feedback adjustment with simulated annealing algorithm, which had the advantages of a short control period, high accuracy, and easy implementation. Frequency fluctuations' power spectral density and linewidth results measured by the improved MZI were consistent with the results of the Michelson interferometer, which used the Faraday rotator mirrors (FRMs) to overcome PIF. The novel MZI structure is unrestricted to FRMs and can extend the capability of the short-delayed self-homodyne interference technique for many special bands' laser frequency noise measurements such as visible bands.

RESUMO

The ultrastructure of nymph mouthparts of the Chinese white wax scale (CWWS), Ericerus pela, consists internally of the crumena, tentorium, the stylet bundle, comprised of two mandibular stylets and two maxillary stylets, and the external clypeolabral shield, labium and sensilla. The mouthpart morphology and structures of the female nymphs are similar to the male. The mouthparts of CWWS have significantly different features in comparison to aphids and other coccids. First, the mouthparts of CWWS have a crumena and a developed tentorium. Second, the labrum is highly degraded and the labium is short and one-segmented. Third, the maxillary stylets have two 'T' type locks. Lastly, the hairs of the mouthpart are sparse and the sensilla are simple. As the labrum and labium of CWWS displayed a high degree of degradation and the tentorium was found to be highly developed, the stretching of the stylet bundle was considered to be controlled by the tentorium and crumena together. Furthermore, the degraded sensilla may be related to a specialization of feeding behavior. There were no significant differences in the length and diameter of the stylet bundles between the female and male. However, the length and diameter of the stylet bundles were significantly different between the first instar nymphs and the second instar nymphs. The first instar nymphs had stylet fascicles that were shorter and soft and initially lived on the leaves of the host trees, presumably because the leaves were thinner and they were able to pierce the leaves while the stylet bundle was relatively soft. However, the second instar nymphs had stylet bundles that were relatively hard. After the numphs molted, the degree of ossification of the stylet bundles was enhanced (increased) and the nymphs returned to the branches for living, where the strengthened stylet bundles may provide a better adaption for the thicker bark. All told, the first and second stage instar CWWS nymphs switched from leaves to the branches in order to find a safe habitat and stable food source.
