RESUMO

With retrieval in CNKI and MEDLINE data base, the articles in Chinese and English that were written by Chinese authors, which were about the specificity of acupoint effects during "the Eleventh Five-Year (2006-2010)", are included. Researchers have studied about the specificity of acupoint effects by cerebral function imaging technique and it turns out that from the perspective of central mechanism, there are differences among aupoint stimulatory effect. The curative effect of acupoints is significantly better than that of nonacupoints, different acupoints have different curative effects, the effect of disease-related acupoints is better than that of unrelated acupoints, those above have intitally proved the existence of specificity of acupoint effects. However, part of the research results need futher summaries, analysis and promotion as well as try to avoid low-level repeat in research design.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: To investigate the changes of epiblepharon by evaluating the severity of epiblepharon before and after induction of general anesthesia. METHODS: Sixty-three pediatric patients (126 eyes) underwent surgery for epiblepharon between April 2008 and September 2008 (35 females, 28 males; average age: 4.74 years). The severity of epiblepharon in each eye was scored according to skin-fold height (scored 1-4) and area of ciliocorneal touch (scored 1-3) while the patient was in upright and supine positions before induction of general anesthesia and in supine position after induction of anesthesia. RESULTS: The severity of epiblepharon was significantly reduced by a positional change to supine position and induction of general anesthesia. Skin-fold height scores decreased when patients were moved from upright (estimated mean ± standard error [SE]; 2.98 ± 0.08) to supine position (2.63 ± 0.09) (P < 0.001) prior to induction of anesthesia, and decreased further after induction of general anesthesia (2.12 ± 0.08) (P < 0.001). Ciliocorneal touch scores also decreased after patients were moved to supine position and after induction of general anesthesia (upright: 2.17 ± 0.05; supine: 1.95 ± 0.06; general anesthesia: 1.64 ± 0.07, P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrates that positional changes and general anesthesia using muscle relaxants affect the degree of epiblepharon. Surgeons should be aware of these variations for operative planning of epiblepharon.

RESUMO

An aggressively poor course of primary orbital pleomorphic liposarcoma is presented. A 59-year-old man had suffered from multiple local recurrences and died 1 year after diagnosis of orbital pleomorphic liposarcoma. The tumor invaded into the brain only 10 months after exenteration. The patient had a history of partial tumor resection via anterior orbitotomy before total exenteration. It was assume that such an unusual poor course might be due to histologic findings, which revealed a high-grade pleomorphic liposarcoma with a high mitotic count (25/10 high-power field) or previous-done anterior orbitotomy, which was able to seed the tumor cells.

RESUMO

A convenient one-pot propargylation/cycloisomerization tandem process has been developed for the synthesis of substituted furans derivatives from 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds and enoxysilanes with propargylic alcohols or acetates using copper(II) triflate as a bifunctional catalyst. This method provides a flexible and rapid route to substituted furans.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To study the reason and the management of the sunken upper eyelid after implanting a hydroxyapatite platform. METHODS: From 1998, we developed a method of subperiosteal implantation at the orbital floor to repair the introcession of the upper eyelid after hydroxyapatite platform implantation. 11 cases of the sunken upper eyelid were treated with this method. The implants included Medpor in 2 cases, hydroxyapatite plates in 7 cases and acellular dermal matrix in 2 cases. RESULTS: Postoperatively, all the patients obtained satisfactory results. Follow-up for 1 to 4 years showed no complications of extrusion or infection of the implants. Re-operation was needless in all of them. CONCLUSION: Subperiosteal implantation to correct the sunken upper eyelid is a safe and effective method.
