RESUMO

Watermelon is an important horticultural plant. A bibliometric analysis of the watermelon literature was carried out in order to analyze the research state, hotspots, and trends, as well as to highlight the overall watermelon research development from a holistic viewpoint. The summary of watermelon research is given via metrological analysis based on a set of indices using a newly built Bibliometrix R-package tool. This study gathered 6,632 documents indexed in the Core Collection of Web of Science (WoS) in the domain of watermelon from 1992 to 2022 using bibliometrix. The results indicated that the number of published articles showed an apparently upward trend. The United States was in the first place, with Plant Disease being the most productive journal. Levi A from the United States Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service is the most prolific author, and Levi A is the most cited; The most frequently used keywords by authors are "growth", "resistance", "identification", "yield", "quality" "plants", "watermelon stomach" and "expression"; The most talked-about issues in this subject are resistance, yield, and quality, which highlight the crucial research areas. To effectively comprehend the turning moments for future research, it is useful to monitor the hotspots and frontiers of watermelon studies. The results highlight the future paths for study in the field of watermelon and provide useful information for researchers interested in the topic.

RESUMO

Background: Although atrial high-rate episode (AHRE) and atrial fibrillation (AF) cannot entirely be identical, recent studies suggest AHRE is linked to AF development and shares some characteristics with AF regarding thromboembolism. At present, there is still lack of predictive indicators for AHRE and diagnostic methods and clinical indicators for AHRE in patients without cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED). The aim of this study was thus to explore the relationship between AHRE and left atrial (LA) strain parameters with the goal of identifying high-risk populations of AHRE by LA strain characteristics. Methods: From February 2022 to May 2023, a total of 105 CIED patients were enrolled and divided into two groups based on whether AHRE had occurred: AHRE (-) group (n=65) and AHRE (+) group (n=40). Real-time three-dimensional echocardiography (RT-3DE) technique was used to obtain the LA time-volume curve. The collected dynamic images were analyzed on the Echopac 204 workstation to obtain the parameters of LA. The four-dimensional automatic LA quantitative analysis (4D Auto LAQ) technology was used to analyze the LA strain parameters: LA reservoir longitudinal strain (LASr), LA conduit longitudinal strain (LAScd), LA contraction longitudinal strain (LASct), LA reservoir circumferential strain (LASr-c), LA conduit circumferential strain (LAScd-c), LA contraction circumferential strain (LASct-c). Correlation analysis was carried out using Binary logistic regression analysis. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (AUC) was used to evaluate the diagnostic performance of LASct in AHRE. Results: Body surface area (BSA) [odds ratio (OR) =8.34, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.32-72.30, P=0.037], LASct (OR =1.20, 95% CI: 1.05-1.39, P=0.013) and LA end-systolic volume (LAESV) (OR =1.02, 95% CI: 1.00-1.04, P=0.023) were the influencing factors of AHRE. Only LASct (OR =1.18, 95% CI: 1.01-1.38, P=0.041) was found to be an independent influencing factor of AHRE. This result remained significant after adjusting for age, sex, hypertension, diabetes, and stroke history. The ROC curve showed that the cut-off for predicting AHRE was LASct =-4.125% with sensitivity of 37.5% and specificity of 87.7%. Conclusions: This cross-sectional study found that decreased LASct (absolute value) is an independent risk factor for the AHRE and has diagnostic efficacy in certain degree for the occurrence of AHRE.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: This study investigated the positive rate and related influencing factors of anxiety screening in pregnant women during the first fetal magnetic resonance examination. METHODS: A total of 303 pregnant women who met the criteria for magnetic resonance pregnancy examination in a Grade III maternity hospital from December 2021 to December 2022 were included by the convenience sampling method. A cross-sectional survey was conducted before the examination using the General Situation Questionnaire and Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). RESULTS: The positive rate of anxiety was 31.02% (94/303), and the average score of anxiety was 45.71±9.84. Univariate analysis results showed that age, educational level, occupation, place of residence, per capita monthly income, and number of pregnancies were related to the anxiety status of pregnant women in the fetal magnetic resonance examination (P<0.05). The results of logistic regression analysis showed that the factor of college degree [OR: 2.168, 95% CI: (1.119, 4.273)] in the classification of cultural level and country factor [OR: 2.162, 95% CI: (1.066, 4.385)] in the classification of place of residence had an impact on the anxiety score of pregnant women in the fetal magnetic resonance examination (P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The positive rate of anxiety screening of pregnant women before the first prenatal magnetic resonance examination is high. A low education level and living in the countryside will increase the probability of anxiety in pregnant women during magnetic resonance examination. Based on the above research results, it is suggested that medical institutions pay attention to the mental health of pregnant women, improve mental health care services, and reduce the adverse psychological problems caused by prenatal examination.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aims to assess the efficacy and safety of Qingpeng ointment (QPO), a Tibetan medicine for alleviating symptoms in individuals with acute gouty arthritis (AGA). METHODS: This study was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial that involved individuals with AGA whose joint pain, as measured on a visual analog scale (VAS) from 0 to 10, was equal to or greater than 3. The participants were randomly assigned to either the QPO or the placebo group and received their respective treatments twice daily for seven consecutive days. In case of intolerable pain, the participants were allowed to use diclofenac sodium sustained-release tablets as a rescue medicine. The primary outcomes measured were joint pain and swelling, while the secondary outcomes included joint mobility, redness, serum uric acid levels, C-reactive protein levels, and the amount of remaining rescue medicine. Any adverse events that occurred during the trial were also recorded. RESULTS: A total of 203 cases were divided into two groups, with balanced baselines: 102 in the QPO group and 101 in the placebo group. For joint pain, differences between the groups were notable in the VAS scores [1.75 (0, 3.00) versus 2.00 (1.00, 3.50); P = 0.038], changes in VAS [5.00 (3.00, 6.00) versus 4.00 (2.00, 6.00); P = 0.036], and disappearance rate [26.47% compared to 15.84%; P = 0.046] after treatment. Concerning joint swelling, significant between-group differences were observed in the VAS scores [1.00 (0, 2.30) versus 2.00 (0.70, 3.00); P = 0.032] and disappearance rate [33.33% compared to 21.78%; P = 0.046] at treatment completion. The QPO group exhibited a statistically significant mobility improvement compared to the placebo group (P = 0.004). No significant differences were found in other secondary outcomes. Five patients, four from the QPO group and one from the other, encountered mild adverse events, primarily skin irritation. All of these cases were resolved after dosage reduction or discontinuation of the medication. CONCLUSIONS: Compared to the placebo, QPO exhibits positive effects on AGA by alleviating pain, reducing swelling, and enhancing joint mobility, without causing significant adverse effects. RESUMO

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to present our findings of the distribution pattern of choroidal arteries and large veins in patients with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) using indocyanine green angiography (ICGA). Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 980 patients who underwent ICGA at The Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University from 2017 to 2023, including 240 patients with AMD. Secondary image processing was applied to the angiographic videos to obtain posterior distribution maps of choroidal arteries and large veins. Differences between different distribution patterns regarding age, gender, eye laterality, and circulation time were compared. We also conducted a comparison of choroidal vascular distribution characteristics between patients with AMD and patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) and provided a summary of choroidal vascular distribution patterns in AMD. Results: The filling patterns of choroidal arteries can be classified into the invisible trunk arteries type, the partially masked trunk arteries type, and the exposed trunk arteries type. The vascular topography of the large choroidal vein can be classified into the watershed type, the non-watershed type, and the unknown type, further divided into six subtypes. The distribution patterns of choroidal arteries and veins were significantly correlated with age (P < 0.001). Left eye, older age, and the exposed trunk arteries type were independent risk factors for non-watershed large choroidal vein (P < 0.05). The non-watershed type was the main characteristic of the venous phase in AMD. Conclusions: The distribution characteristics of the arterial and venous patterns in AMD suggest atrophy of the small blood vessels in the choroid and insufficient perfusion pressure of the blood flow.

RESUMO

Purpose: To investigate changes in foveal avascular area (FAZ) and retinal vein diameter in patients with retinal vein occlusion (RVO) after intravitreal ranibizumab, and to analyze the correlation between ranibizumab therapy and visual gain. Methods: This retrospective study enrolled 95 eyes of 95 patients who had accepted three consecutive monthly ranibizumab injections, including 50 branch RVOs (BRVOs) and 45 central RVOs (CRVOs). BRVOs were divided into ischemia group (n = 32) and non-ischemia group (n = 18), and CRVOs also had ischemia group (n = 28) and non-ischemia group (n = 17). Comprehensive ophthalmic examinations were performed before the first injection and after 6, 12, and 24 months. The FAZ was manually circumscribed on early-phase images of fundus fluorescein angiography. Retinal vein diameters were measured on fundus photographs. Results: After three injections, the FAZ area was significantly enlarged firstly and then reduced in all ischemic RVOs and the non-ischemic BRVOs (p < 0.05), while the retinal vein diameter was significantly reduced firstly and then increased in all groups except for unobstructed branch veins of non-ischemic BRVOs (p < 0.05). The correlation between the FAZ area and best corrected visual acuity was statistically significant in all CRVOs (non-ischemic, r = 0.372; ischemic, r = 0.286; p < 0.01) and ischemic BRVOs (r = 0.180, p < 0.05). Spearman's correlation analysis revealed that the retinal vein diameter was significantly correlated to the larger FAZ area in obstructed branch veins of ischemic BRVOs (r = -0.31, p < 0.01), inferior temporal branch veins of non-ischemic CRVOs (r = -0.461, p < 0.01) and ischemia CRVO groups (superior temporal branch vein, r = -0.226, p < 0.05; inferior temporal branch vein, r = -0.259, p < 0.01). Conclusion: After three consecutive monthly ranibizumab injections, the FAZ area was enlarged and retinal vein diameter reduced with gradual recovery to near baseline from 12 months. These results suggest that ranibizumab therapy can worsen macular ischemia and prevent visual gain in the short term. It has important significance for the treatment and prognosis of RVO, although the natural course of RVO may also affect ischemia and visual gain.

RESUMO

Targeting epigenetic regulators to potentiate anti-PD-1 immunotherapy converges on the activation of type I interferon (IFN-I) response, mimicking cellular response to viral infection, but how its strength and duration are regulated to impact combination therapy efficacy remains largely unknown. Here, we show that mitochondrial CPT1A downregulation following viral infection restrains, while its induction by epigenetic perturbations sustains, a double-stranded RNA-activated IFN-I response. Mechanistically, CPT1A recruits the endoplasmic reticulum-localized ZDHHC4 to catalyze MAVS Cys79-palmitoylation, which promotes MAVS stabilization and activation by inhibiting K48- but facilitating K63-linked ubiquitination. Further elevation of CPT1A incrementally increases MAVS palmitoylation and amplifies the IFN-I response, which enhances control of viral infection and epigenetic perturbation-induced antitumor immunity. Moreover, CPT1A chemical inducers augment the therapeutic effect of combined epigenetic treatment with PD-1 blockade in refractory tumors. Our study identifies CPT1A as a stabilizer of MAVS activation, and its link to epigenetic perturbation can be exploited for cancer immunotherapy.

RESUMO

Transient receptor potential (TRP) channels are a class of transmembrane proteins that can sense a variety of physical/chemical stimuli, participate in the pathological processes of various diseases and have attracted increasing attention from researchers. Recent studies have shown that some TRP channels are involved in the development of pathological scarification (PS) and directly participate in PS fibrosis and re-epithelialization or indirectly activate immune cells to release cytokines and neuropeptides, which is subdivided into immune inflammation, fibrosis, pruritus and mechanical forces increased. This review elaborates on the characteristics of TRP channels, the mechanism of PS and how TRP channels mediate the development of PS, summarizes the important role of TRP channels in the different pathogenesis of PS and proposes that therapeutic strategies targeting TRP will be important for the prevention and treatment of PS. TRP channels are expected to become new targets for PS, which will make further breakthroughs and provide potential pharmacological targets and directions for the in-depth study of PS.

RESUMO

The left atrial appendage (LAA) is a major site of thrombosis in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. The myocardial trabeculae within the LAA have a peculiar tendency to protrude but its relationship to thrombosis remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the condition of trabeculae protrusion and LAA thrombosis. This retrospective study consecutively selected patients diagnosed with non-valvular atrial fibrillation and prepared for radiofrequency ablation from January 2011 to May 2020. Patients were divided into the thrombus group (n = 43), the sludge group (n = 35), and the normal group (n = 407) according to whether the thrombus or sludge was present. The trabeculae protruding angle (TPA), which was measured by the CT scans, was used to quantify the trabeculae protrusion condition. Patients' clinical data, TPA, LAA emptying velocity, and other factors were collected and compared among the three groups. A total of 485 patients were enrolled. The range of TPA was between 0 and 158 degrees, with an average of 89.3 ± 35.6 degrees. The TPA was significantly greater in the thrombus (109.3 ± 14.8 degrees) and sludge groups (110.8 ± 12.8 degrees) than in the normal group (85.3 ± 37.1). The incidence of LAA thrombus and sludge increased with increasing TPA. Multivariate regression analysis showed that the TPA was an independent risk factor for LAA thrombus (OR = 1.046, 95%CI: 1.020-1.073, p < 0.001) and sludge (OR = 1.035, 95%CI: 1.017-1.053, p < 0.001). Further analysis revealed that the TPA was negatively correlated with LAA emptying velocity but its effect on promoting thrombosis was not only mediated by slowing down the flow velocity. The TPA can well reflect the condition of trabeculae protrusion. This study revealed that the TPA was an independent risk factor for LAA thrombus or sludge, providing a potential indicator for future thrombosis risk assessment.

RESUMO

Microbes are an important part of the vineyard ecosystem, which significantly influence the quality of grapes. Previously, we identified a bud mutant variety (named 'Fengzao') from 'Kyoho' grapes. The variation of microbial communities in grape and its bud mutant variety has not been studied yet. So, in this study, with the samples of both 'Fengzao' and 'Kyoho', we conducted high-throughput microbiome sequencing and investigated their microbial communities in different tissues. Obvious differences were observed in the microbial communities between 'Fengzao' and 'Kyoho'. The fruit and the stem are the tissues with relatively higher abundance of microbes, while the leaves contained less microbes. The fruit and the stem of 'Kyoho' and the stem of 'Fengzao' had relatively higher species diversity based on the alpha diversity analysis. Proteobacteria, Enterobacteriaceae and Rhodobacteraceae had significantly high abundance in 'Fengzao'. Firmicutes and Pseudomonas were highly abundant in the stems of 'Kyoho', and family of Spirochaetaceae, Anaplasmataceae, Chlorobiaceae, and Sphingomonadaceae, and genera of Spirochaeta, Sphingomonas, Chlorobaculum and Wolbachia were abundant in the fruits of 'Kyoho'. These identified microbes are main components of the microbial communities, and could be important regulators of grapevine growth and development. This study revealed the differences in the microbial compositions between 'Kyoho' and its bud mutant, and these identified microbes will be significant resources for the future researches on the quality regulation and disease control of grapevines.

RESUMO

Background: Progression of disease within 24 months (POD24) is a risk factor for poor survival in follicular lymphoma (FL), and there is currently no optimal prognostic model to accurately predict patients with early disease progression. How to combine traditional prognostic models with new indicators to establish a new prediction system, to predict the early progression of FL patients more accurately is a future research direction. Methods: This study retrospectively analyzed patients with newly diagnosed FL patients in Shanxi Provincial Cancer Hospital from January 2015 to December 2020. Data from patients undergoing immunohistochemical detection (IHC) were analyzed using χ2 test and multivariate Logistic regression. Also, we built a nomogram model based on the results of LASSO regression analysis of POD24, which was validated in both the training set and validation set, and additional external validation was performed using a dataset (n = 74) from another center, Tianjin Cancer Hospital. Results: The multivariate Logistic regression results suggest that high-risk PRIMA-PI group, Ki-67 high expression represent risk factors for POD24 (P<0.05). Next, PRIMA-PI and Ki67 were combined to build a new model, namely, PRIMA-PIC to reclassify high and low-risk groups. The result showed that the new clinical prediction model constructed by PRIMA-PI with ki67 has a high sensitivity to the prediction of POD24. Compared to PRIMA-PI, PRIMA-PIC also has better discrimination in predicting patient's progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS). In addition, we built nomogram models based on the results of LASSO regression (histological grading, NK cell percentage, PRIMA-PIC risk group) in the training set, which were validated using internal validation set and external validation set, we found that C-index and calibration curve showed good performance. Conclusion: As such, the new predictive model-based nomogram established by PRIMA-PI and Ki67 could well predict the risk of POD24 in FL patients, which boasts clinical practical value.

RESUMO

Aims: To investigate the correlation and predictive value of left atrial diameter and blood uric acid levels with the occurrence of left atrial thrombus or dense spontaneous echo contrast in atrial fibrillation patients with low to moderate CHA2DS2-VASc scores. Methods and results: A total of 849 inpatients diagnosed with atrial fibrillation who had low to moderate CHA2DS2-VASc scores and complete transesophageal echocardiography were included in this study. Among them, 66 patients had left atrial thrombus or dense spontaneous echo contrast. When different models were used to correct other known risk factors, acid levels and abnormal left atrial diameter were identified as additional risk factors for left atrial thrombus or dense spontaneous echo contrast. The incidence of left atrial thrombus or dense spontaneous echo contrast was higher in patients with abnormal serum uric acid levels than in the control group (12.4% vs. 5.6%, p < 0.05), and this difference persisted after correcting the baseline data with propensity score matching (10.6% vs. 4.1%, p < 0.05). Abnormal left atrial diameter was another risk factor suggested by regression analysis, with an increased incidence of left atrial thrombus or dense spontaneous echo contrast in the abnormal left atrial diameter group compared to the control group, both before (18.0% vs. 3.5%, p < 0.05) and after (15.5% vs. 5.2%, p < 0.05) propensity score matching. The best predictive value was obtained by adding both abnormal serum uric acid levels and abnormal left atrial diameter. Conclusion: Left atrial enlargement and high uric acid levels increase the risk of left atrial thrombus or dense spontaneous echo contrast in atrial fibrillation patients with low to moderate CHA2DS2-VASc scores.

RESUMO

Background: Previous studies have not consistently found significant improvements in left ventricular ejection fraction or global longitudinal strain (GLS) after radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) in patients with ventricular pre-excitation. The aim of this study was thus to explore the effects of RFCA on left ventricular function in patients with ventricular pre-excitation using a new noninvasive echocardiographic method of myocardial work. Methods: A total of 34 patients with ventricular pre-excitation who underwent RFCA and 18 healthy controls were prospectively included in this study. Before and after participants underwent RFCA, electrocardiographic and echocardiographic data of the patients were collected at resting and pacing heart rates (HRs) of 100 beats per minute (bpm) and 120 bpm (controlled by high right atrial pacing during the procedure). Clinical data of the healthy controls at resting HR were also collected. A self-controlled paired sample t test was used to compare the differences before and after participants underwent RFCA. Results: After participants underwent RFCA, the global wasted work (GWW) of the included patients decreased (resting HR: 165.3±68.8 vs. 92.6±42.5 mmHg%, P<0.001; HR of 100 bpm: 276.3±121.2 vs. 187.9±96.0 mmHg%, P<0.001; HR of 120 bpm: 323.9±126.7 vs. 181.0%±74.3 mmHg%. P<0.001), while the global work efficiency (GWE) increased (resting HR: 91.5%±3.8% vs. 94.9%±1.6%; P<0.001; HR of 100 bpm: 87.0%±5.2% vs. 91.0%±3.3%, P<0.001; HR of 120 bpm: 85.0%±5.1% vs. 90.3%±3.7%, P<0.001). Conclusions: In patients with ventricular pre-excitation, impaired GWW and GWE can be improved with RFCA. In clinical practice, noninvasive myocardial work assessment can be used in patients with ventricular pre-excitation.

RESUMO

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication in critically ill patients. Some predictive models have been reported, but the conclusions are controversial. The aim of this study was the formation of nomograms to predict risk factors for AKI in critically ill patients within the first 7 days after admission to the intensive care unit (ICU). Methods: Data were extracted from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care- (MIMIC-) III database. The random forest method was used to fill in the missing values, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (Lasso) regression analysis was performed to screen for possible risk factors. Results: A total of 561 patients were enrolled. Complication with AKI is significantly associated with a longer length of stay (LOS). For all patients, the predictors contained in the prediction nomogram included hypertension, coronary artery disease (CAD), cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB), coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), Simplified Acute Physiology Score II (SAPS II), central venous pressure (CVP) measured for the first time after admission, and maximum and minimum mean artery pressure (MAP). The model showed good discrimination (C - index = 0.818, 95% CI: 0.779-0.857). In the subgroup of patients with well-controlled blood glucose levels, the significant predictors included hypertension, CABG, CPB, SAPS II, and maximum and minimum MAP. Good discrimination was also present before (C - index = 0.785, 95% CI: 0.736-0.834) and after adjustment (adjusted C - index = 0.770). Conclusion: Hypertension, CAD, CPB, CABG, SAPS II, CVP measured for the first time after admission, and maximum and minimum MAP were independent risk factors for AKI in critically ill patients.

RESUMO

AIM: To introduce a simple iris hook assisted phacoemulsification (PE) procedure and evaluate the safety and efficacy of it in completely vitrectomized eyes. METHODS: A single centre study which included 65 previously completely vitrectomized eyes of 62 patients who underwent cataract surgery. Patients were randomly divided into 3 groups. Patients received PE, and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation with the assistance of iris hook (Synergeties™) as group A (25 eyes); patients who received PE assisted with a 25G pars plana irrigation as group B (20 eyes), and patients who received PE performed without the help of any instrument as group C (20 eyes). Main outcome measures were surgery duration, Ultrasound (U/S) total time, endothelial cell density (ECD), cumulative dissipated energy (CDE) and complications of the procedures. RESULTS: With the help of iris hook, the patients in group A had the lowest ECD loss rate (0.07±0.03, 0.09±0.03, and 0.10±0.03, P<0.05), shortest CDE (12.2±4.1, 15.8±6.0, and 16.0±6.0, P<0.05) and U/S total time (36.6±13.0s, 46.3±16.4s, and 47.6±16.1s, P<0.05), and minimal incidence of complications. The longest surgery duration was in group B (19.4±1.6min) and maximum complications rate in group C (20% miosis, 10% posterior capsular tears, 5% zonular dialysis, 5% cystoid macular edema). While best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), intraocular pressure (IOP) and ECD did not show a significant difference among the three groups. CONCLUSION: Without prolonged surgery duration, the iris hook assistant method can minimize heat generation during surgery and incidence of complications, which transfer the challenged PE in vitrectomized eyes into a regular surgery. It does not need any change in the hydrodynamic parameters and in the bag PE technique, easy to operate even for junior surgeons.

RESUMO

Polycomb group (PcG) proteins maintain cell identity by repressing gene expression during development. Surprisingly, emerging studies have recently reported that a number of PcG proteins directly activate gene expression during cell fate determination process. However, the mechanisms by which they direct gene activation in pluripotency remain poorly understood. Here, we show that Phc1, a subunit of canonical polycomb repressive complex 1 (cPRC1), can exert its function in pluripotency maintenance via a PRC1-independent activation of Nanog. Ablation of Phc1 reduces the expression of Nanog and overexpression of Nanog partially rescues impaired pluripotency caused by Phc1 depletion. We find that Phc1 interacts with Nanog and activates Nanog transcription by stabilizing the genome-wide chromatin interactions of the Nanog locus. This adds to the already known canonical function of PRC1 in pluripotency maintenance via a PRC1-dependent repression of differentiation genes. Overall, our study reveals a function of Phc1 to activate Nanog transcription through regulating chromatin architecture and proposes a paradigm for PcG proteins to maintain pluripotency.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Men who have sex with men (MSM) are the focus group of acquired immune deficiency syndrome intervention, because of the impact of social concepts, they suffer from a lot of social discrimination, and mental health problems are more prominent. Depression is prevalent in Chinese MSM. The aim of this systematic review is to systematically assess the current evidence on factors associated with depression among Chinese MSM. METHODS: This study will be conducted in strict accordance with the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis protocols. China National Knowledge Infrastructure, VIP Database, Wanfang Database, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library will be searched comprehensively to collect cross-sectional studies, case-control studies, Cohort studies for depression of the related factors among Chinese MSM. The retrieval time is limited from the establishment of the database to December 2020. Two researchers independently evaluate the study and extract the data according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Meanwhile, the Newcastle-Ottawa scale and the bias risk assessment criteria of the agency for healthcare research and quality will be used to evaluate the risk of bias in the included studies, and the meta-analysis will be carried out by using Stata 15.0. RESULTS: This study will systematically evaluate the related factors for depression among Chinese MSM based on published studies. The results will be presented here. CONCLUSION: The conclusion of the systematic review and meta-analysis will provide clinical evidence for the related factors and prevention and treatment measures of depression among Chinese MSM.

RESUMO

This study investigates the safety and efficacy of conbercept injection through different routes for neovascular glaucoma (NVG) treatment, in which seventy-four patients (81 eyes) with NVG caused by ischemia retinopathy had participated. Patients were divided into three stages according to the progression of NVG and were randomly assigned to receive intracameral or intravitreal conbercept injection. After conbercept injection, patients experienced improved best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA), good intraocular pressure (IOP) control, and neovascularization of Iris (NVI) regression. In stage III, patients required trabeculectomy with mitomycin C plus pan-retinal photocoagulation (PRP) to achieve complete NVI regression. Compared to the intravitreal group, the intracameral group had significantly lower IOP in 2 days in stage III and 1 day in stages I and II after injection, complete NVI regression before PRP in stages I and II, and better NVI regression in stage III. The rates of hyphema after trabeculectomy and malfunction filtering bleb suffering needle bleb revision were lower in the intracameral group, but only the hyphema rate was significantly different. Injections through different routes are all safe. We recommend intravitreal injections for patients in stages I and II, but for stage III, intracameral injection is better, and trabeculectomy with mitomycin C should be conducted within 2 days after injection to maximally reduce the risk of perioperative hyphema. Trial Registration: ClinicalTrials.gov, identifier NCT03154892.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: SD-OCT is becoming commonplace in everyday practice. Vitreomacular adhesions (VMAs) are being more routinely diagnosed. Predictive studies to the natural course of VMA are thus clinically significant. Spectral domain-optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) was presently utilized to analyze the incidence of floaters, the complete vitreomacular separation or VMA, the VMA complication, the vitreomacular angle (VMAng), and the complication mechanism. METHODS: Monthly SD-OCT was performed on patients with/without symptomatic floaters. OCT allowed VMA and vitreomacular separation to be compared. The incidence was assessed applying one-tailed Fisher's exact tests. The VMAngs between the inner retina and posterior hyaloid were measured, and the complication mechanism was studied using OCT image. For macular hole (MH), pre- and/or post-operative best corrected visual acuities (BCVAs; LogMAR), refractions and photoreceptor conditions were also evaluated. RESULTS: Totally, 124 eyes were included; there were 116 eyes with VMA and 8 eyes with vitreomacular separation. Considering the percentages over 124 eyes, floaters were present in 14.5% of enrolled eyes (=18/124), consisting of 12.9% of eyes with VMA (16/124) and 1.6% of eyes with vitreomacular separation (2/124). Moreover, there were twelve eyes (9.7%) with VMA-associated vision-threatening complications, including MH (n = 8; 6.5%), retinal detachment (RD; n = 2; 1.6%), vitreomacular traction (VMT; n = 1; 0.8%) and macular pucker (MP; n = 1; 0.8%). Eyes with initial VMA had a significantly greater possibility of complications than eyes with initial vitreomacular separation (p = 0.03). Among these eyes with MH (n = 8), the pre-operative BCVA (LogMAR) was 1.1 ± 0.5, which was insignificantly (p = 0.35) improved to 0.8 ± 0.7 post-operatively. The VMAng of VMA eyes with MHs was 24.2 ± 24.9° (n = 8). The critical VMAng was 13.3°. CONCLUSIONS: A minority of eyes with VMA or vitreomacular separation had floaters. Moreover, the use of SD-OCT could identify vision-threatening sequelae, namely MH, RD, MP and VMT, and this was significantly more frequent in eyes with VMA than in eyes with complete vitreomacular separation. Therefore, SD-OCT might be a useful way of identifying either identity, and evaluating VMA-associated complications. Whether VMA eyes with MH (n = 8) that have a VMAng greater than critical VMAng have a greater likelihood of tangential traction and subsequent MH needs further investigation.
