RESUMO

It is well known that two-dimensional (2D) bosons in homogeneous space cannot undergo real Bose-Einstein condensation, and the superfluid to normal phase transition is Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) type, associated with vortex-antivortex pair unbinding. Here we point out a 2D bosonic system whose low energy physics goes beyond conventional paradigm of 2D homogeneous bosons, i.e., intralayer excitons in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides. With intrinsic valley-orbit coupling and valley Zeeman energy, exciton dispersion becomes linear at small momentum, giving rise to a series of novel features. The critical temperature of Bose-Einstein condensation of these excitons is nonzero, suggesting true long-range order in 2D homogeneous system. The dispersion of Goldstone mode at long wavelength has the form ϵ(q)∼sqrt[q], in contrast to conventional linear phonon spectrum. The vortex energy deviates from the usual logarithmic form with respect to system size, but instead has an additional linear term. Superfluid to normal phase transition is no longer BKT type for system size beyond a characteristic scale, without discontinuous jump in superfluid density. With the recent experimental progress on exciton fluid at thermal equilibrium in monolayer semiconductors, our work points out an experimentally accessible system to search for unconventional 2D superfluids beyond BKT paradigm.

RESUMO

Excitons in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide are endowed with intrinsic valley-orbit coupling between their center-of-mass motion and valley pseudospin. When trapped in a confinement potential, e.g., generated by strain field, we find that intralayer excitons are valley and orbital angular momentum (OAM) entangled. By tuning the trap profile and external magnetic field, one can engineer the exciton states at the ground state and realize a series of valley-OAM entangled states. We further show that the OAM of excitons can be transferred to emitted photons, and these novel exciton states can naturally serve as polarization-OAM locked single photon emitters, which under certain circumstance become polarization-OAM entangled, highly tunable by strain trap and magnetic field. Our proposal demonstrates a novel scheme to generate polarization-OAM locked/entangled photons at the nanoscale with a high degree of integrability and tunability, pointing to exciting opportunities for quantum information applications.

RESUMO

Van der Waals heterostructures of two-dimensional (2D) materials provide a powerful approach toward engineering various quantum phases of matter. Examples include topological matter such as quantum spin Hall (QSH) insulator and correlated matter such as exciton superfluid. It can be of great interest to realize these vastly different quantum phases matter on a common platform; however, their distinct origins tend to restrict them to material systems of incompatible characters. Here, we show that heterobilayers of 2D valley semiconductors can be tuned through interlayer bias between an exciton superfluid, a quantum anomalous Hall insulator, and a QSH insulator. The tunability between these distinct phases results from the competition of Coulomb interaction with the interlayer quantum tunneling that has a chiral form in valley semiconductors. Our findings point to exciting opportunities for harnessing both protected topological edge channels and bulk superfluidity in an electrically configurable platform.

RESUMO

We amplified genes encoding UDP-glucose dehydrogenase, ecohasB from Escherichia coli and spyhasB from Streptococcus pyogenes. Both ecohasB and spyhasB were inserted into T7 expression vector pRX2 to construct recombinant plasmids pRXEB and pRXSB, and to express in E. coli BL21(DE3). After nickel column purification of UDP-glucose dehydrogenases, the enzymes were characterized. The optimum reaction condition of spyHasB was at 30 °C and pH 10. The specific activity reached 12.2 U/mg under optimum condition. The optimum reaction condition of ecoHasB was at 30 °C and pH 9. Its specific activity reached 5.55 U/mg under optimum condition. The pmuhasA gene encoding hyaluronic acid synthase was amplified from Pasteurella multocida and ligated with ecohasB and spyhasB to construct the coexpression vectors pBPAEB and pBPASB, respectively. The co-expression vectors were transformed into E. coli BW25113. Hyaluronic acid (HA) was produced by biotransformation and the conditions were optimized. When recombinant strains were used to produce hyaluronic acid, the higher the activity of UDP-glucose dehydrogenase was, the better its stability was, and the higher the HA production could reach. Under the optimal conditions, the yields of HA produced by pBPAEB/BW25113 and pBPASB/BW25113 in shake flasks were 1.52 and 1.70 g/L, respectively, and the production increased more than 2-3 folds as previously reported.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To develop a system of enhancing work efficiency in prevention of blindness in Zhejiang province by creating the Model County in prevention of blindness. METHODS: Twenty counties were selected in the whole Zhejiang province to serve as the candidates of the Model County in prevention of blindness in 1996 - 1998. The activities for prevention of blindness were conducted in these counties according to the five standards of the Model County in prevention of blindness established by the National Committee for Prevention of Blindness. The Model County in prevention of blindness was awarded only after checking and accepting by the authorities in county, provincial and national levels. RESULTS: The effective way for creating the Model County in prevention was as follows: the local government put the prevention of blindness in the list of the priorities, the local committee for prevention of blindness was established, the three level network for prevention of blindness was established, the eye care workers were trained, the necessary equipment was provided. After the efforts for three years, seven counties were awarded as the Model County in prevention of blindness. In addition, Shaoxing Prefecture city became Model City in prevention of blindness. A strong effort was made to promote the activities for prevention of blindness during 1996 to 1998 in the other thirteen counties. The number of eye doctors increased from 602 into 1 850. There were two folds increase in the number of equipment availability, for example, slit lamp and ophthalmic microscope. The annual number of cataract surgeries was about 20 000. CONCLUSION: It appears to be a good approach to create the Model County to promote the prevention of blindness.
