RESUMO

Clinical and X-ray studies were made in 316 patients, which revealed intestinal dyskinesia, chronic colitis, and nonspecific ulcerative colitis in 105, 133, and 78 patients, respectively. Irrigoscopy (administration of a contrast enema, examination of the mucosal contour, and double contrasting) was performed in all the patients, by analyzing X-ray planimetric indices. X-ray colonoplanimetry makes it possible to objectify the interpretation of the X-ray pattern in chronic inflammatory diseases of the large bowel and colonic dyskinesia.

RESUMO

The paper demonstrates substantial (p = 0.95) increase of brain stroke (BS) rate during daylight hours, compared with that in the night-time hours. Such pattern is observed in accordance with astronomic seasons, half-year and year intervals: 1996 was a year with low solar activity (YLSA), 2000--a year with high solar activity (YHSA). Between the seasons "morning" and "day" during daylight hours and the seasons "night" and "day" in the night-time hours in YLSA the study revealed two biological turning-points, depending on the natural day length. In YHSA BS rate was the same in different seasons both during daylight hours and in the night-time hours. The variation of the BS rate within 24-hour time intervals demonstrates that the reference rate of Smolensk inhabitants for BS is season-dependent in YLSA, in comparison with that in YHSA; it is the highest in the seasons "morning" and "night" and the lowest in the seasons "evening "and "day". There is a weak correlation between BS rate and the physical phenomena under study (light and darkness). The results demonstrate possible direct biotropic effect of the light--darkness shift on BS rate in YLSA.

RESUMO

4171 cases with exacerbation of peptic ulcer were identified at endoscopic examination of 23,779 patients. Changes in metabolic-trophic processes (MTP) in gastric mucosa (GM) were studied in 210 patients with duodenal ulcer. A complex chronobiological correlation exists between solar activity and progress of peptic ulcer. Cyclic alterations in MTP were detected in GM. Fluctuations were found at all the levels of body functioning--from systemic structures to molecular ones. The data obtained can be used for optimization of preventive measures in ulcer patients.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to analyse literature on the use of different methods for conserving the quality of drinking water in autonomous objects. The analysis showed that the use of silver ions, impulsive electric discharges and their combinations are the best methods for conservation of water. It is necessary to make further research to develop new methods for drinking-water conservation.

RESUMO

The purpose of this study was to make experimental and semifield examinations of the physical and chemical indices of the quality of water disinfected and preserved by low-voltage (2.8-3.0 kV) impulsive electric discharges by means of a MEI portable plant. The findings showed that the changes in the physical, chemical, and organoleptic properties of the treated water were insignificant. The water kept during 2 months met the requirements for drinking water. The above portable plant is recommended for water disinfection in self-contained objects.

RESUMO

Two-hour exposure to low-voltage (2.8 to 3 kV) pulsed electric discharges (PED) effectively (by 99.9999%) disinfected drinking water. Preservation of water with IED had a pronounced bactericidal effect in respect of numerous pathogenic and opportunistic microorganisms. The aftereffect of PED persists for at least 2 months.

RESUMO

The article gives the notion of the healthy mode of living (HML) as far as individual and collective health is concerned. There is a hygienic concept of HML which includes three postulates: hygienic comregension of health: HML concept as a system of complex measures; HML comprehension as the final goal of hygienic education. The authors enclose the individual and military contingency health formulas. There are schemes which contain ecological measures and hygienic auto-education.

RESUMO

Addition to summer rations of children and nursing mothers of vegetables and fruits increased children's blood methemoglobin levels by 2.1-3.0 times as compared with spring nutrition without hotbed products.

RESUMO

The irreversibility of the damaging action of pulse electric discharges (PED) on microorganisms in the process of the disinfection of water was studied. The experiments with standard E. coli culture showed that bacterial cells remaining alive after being subjected to the action of PED eventually died the sooner, the higher the temperature of the medium was. In any of the "blind passages" made within 7 days no growth of the test microorganism was observed. The use of enriched fluid media and 10-day incubation did not ensure the preservation of proliferation ability of the cells after the action of PED with the parameters used in the experiment.
