RESUMO

Malignant mesothelioma of the pericardium is characterized by atypical solid growth of mesothelium with formation of atypical cavities, slits surrounded by a fibrous stroma. Unless early biopsy, diagnosis and surgery, the prognosis is unfavourable. It is desirable to create immunomorphological test for mesothelium. Recognition of epithelioid, fibrous and mixed forms of mesotheliomas is disputable.

RESUMO

Altogether 89 patients with long non-healing gastric ulcers were examined for Campylobacter pylori (CP) and mucous microflora. It is shown that in patients with long non-healing gastric ulcers, CP was only demonstrable in 19.8% of cases whereas pathological microflora (Candida and microbial associations) in 72.3% of cases. In patients with CP, the administration of de-nol, metronidazole and ampicillin were not sufficiently effective.

RESUMO

Two groups of enteritis patients with benign nodular lymphoid hyperplasia of the small intestine were distinguished: with immunoglobulins (Ig) deficiency (29 patients) and normal Ig synthesis (64 patients). The Ig-deficient group had more pronounced signs of enteritis, higher risk to develop cancer, multiple and disseminated nodular hyperplasia. Morphologically, small intestinal mucosa comprised less plasmatic and plasmacytoid cells, immunoblasts. Inflammation was more manifest.

RESUMO

Literature and original data are reported on a case of alpha-chain disease associated with small intestine lymphoma in a male patient aged 20. The disease manifested clinically with chronic diarrhea, malabsorption, hypoproteinemia, hypocalcemia, cachexia, discretely detected alpha-chain monomer. Morphologically, there was lymphoplasmacyte infiltration of the intestinal mucosal layer; capsule collagenization, clustering immunoblasts among microlymphocytes, a pronounced macrophagal reaction, intercellular crystalloid and lymph masses, follicular pattern disappearance, sites of cellular polymorphism revealed in an axillary lymph node. The latter finding evidenced for developing immunoblastic sarcoma.

RESUMO

The authors describe a rare case of local tumour-like laryngeal amyloidosis in a patient, 61, with clinically observed increasing hoarseness during a 10-month period. The amyloid absorbed Congo red, and its ultrastructure was typical. The role of fibroblasts is confirmed in the formation of the fibrillar component of amyloid protein. Phenomena of amyloidoclasy are described.

RESUMO

Eleven patients with small-intestinal nodular lymphoid hyperplasia combined with immunodeficiency were studied; special reference was made to the clinical appearance as well as roentgenologic, endoscopic, electron-microscopic, histochemical and immunomorphologic evidence of this condition. It is suggested that the demonstrated morphologic and enzymatic changes in the lymphoid apparatus reflect a disturbance at the immunogenetic level where lymphocyte B function is connected with adequate immunoglobulin synthesis by plasma cells. This disturbance accounts for excessive lymphocyte proliferation within the intestinal wall and lymph nodes, and even the production of inadequate, or sometimes abnormal, immunoglobulins by plasma cells.

RESUMO

In 457 autopsies of cases with non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphoma tumour cardiac lesion was found in 43 (9.4%) observations; 5 of them with a combination of tumour with post infarctional myocardial sclerosis were excluded from the analysis. The clinical-anatomic data from 38 autopsies were divided into 3 groups: marked insignificant and only microscopically revealed tumour lesion of the myocardium. No correlations between the degree of morphological changes and clinical-electrographic picture were found. The distribution of some clinical and morphologic features of myocardial lesion depending on the histologic tumour type is presented according to "Working Formulation", 1982. Myocardial lesion was noted predominantly in non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphomas with a high degree of malignancy.

RESUMO

Clinico-anatomical, histological, histocytochemical, cytoimmunological and electron-microscopic description of malignant non-Hodgkin's T-lymphoblastic lymphoma with primary involvement of the uterus, dissemination of the process and its leukemisation in a 57 year-old woman dying from the tumour progression is presented.
