The Impact of New Regulations on Prevention and Control of E-Cigarettes on Adolescents in Middle Schools - A City in China, 2022-2023.

What is already known about this topic?: To protect the health of young people from the harmful impacts of electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes), China has enacted various policies and regulations since 2018. As of October 1, 2022, the Electronic Cigarette Management Measures were put into action. They prohibited the sale of flavored e-cigarettes, permitting only those of plain tobacco flavor to be sold. What is added by this report?: The illegal market for flavored e-cigarettes, often disguised as milk tea cups, cola cans, and violent bear images, continues to flourish. There is an increased need to bolster support for the prohibition of flavored e-cigarettes and enhance public awareness of associated regulations. Management of spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid hypovolemia-associated massive chronic subdural hematoma with reinforced restriction of physical activity: report of three cases.

Spontaneous cerebrospinal fluid hypovolemia (SCFH) is an uncommon entity in neurosurgical practice. Without early recognition and management, some patients with SCFH can develop chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH). Generally, management of patients with SCFH without CSDH is relatively straightforward. However, this circumstance becomes more complicated in patients with concurrent CSDH. Treatment measures simply based on the respective management principles of SCFH and CSDH are insufficient or even disastrous. Our previous study showed that reinforced restriction of physical activity was a promising strategy in managing CSDH in the general population. We applied this strategy in three consecutive patients with SCFH and massive CSDH. All of the patients experienced complete resolution of CSDH. This study not only enriches the basic theory of formation and progression of CSDH, but also demonstrates that reinforced restriction of physical activity could be treated as an alternative or adjuvant management of CSDH secondary to SCFH.

Facile fabrication of titanium dioxide/fullerene nanocomposite and its enhanced visible photocatalytic activity.

Titanium dioxide (TiO2)/fullerene hybrid nanocomposite was facilely fabricated by mixing TiO2 and poly-carboxylic acid functionalized fullerene under an ultrasonication-evaporation method. It was found that the TiO2/fullerene composite could serve as an efficient and reusable photocatalyst for degradation of rhodamine B dye under visible light (λ>400 nm). The as-prepared photocatalyst was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and diffuse reflection spectroscopy (DRS). The degradation experiments revealed that the photocatalytic activity strongly depends on the contents of fullerene from 0.5% to 3% mass ratio. The incorporation of fullerene into TiO2 efficiently extended the absorption spectrum of photocatalyst to visible light region, enhanced the adsorption capacity and degradation efficiency, resulting from a synergistic effect of fullerene and TiO2. The trapping experiments demonstrated that both the photo-generated hole (h(+)) and the reactive oxygen species such as superoxide anion radical (˙O2(-)) were involved in the photocatalytic reaction.
