Power cables are widely used in various fields of power transmission, and cable accessories are the weakest link in power cable systems due to their complex structure and multi-layer insulation coordination issues. This paper investigates the changes in electrical properties of the silicone rubber/cross-linked polyethylene (SiR/XLPE) interface at high temperatures. The physicochemical properties of XLPE material under thermal effects with different times are characterized through FTIR, DSC, and SEM tests. Finally, the mechanism of the effects of the interface state on the electrical properties of the SiR/XLPE interface is analyzed. It is found that with the increase in temperature, the changes in electrical performance of the interface do not show a monotonic downward trend, while interestingly, they can be divided into three stages. Under the thermal effects for 40 d, the internal recrystallization of XLPE in the early stage improves the electrical properties of the interface. In the later stage of thermal effects, the amorphous region inside the material is severely damaged and the molecular chains are severely broken, resulting in a decrease in the electrical properties of the interface. The results above provide a theoretical basis for the interface design of cable accessories at high temperatures.

Background: Iron is an essential nutrient element, and iron metabolism is related to many diseases. Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent form of regulated cell death associated with ischemic stroke (IS). Hence, this study intended to discover and validate the possible ferroptosis-related genes involved in IS. Materials and methods: GSE16561, GSE37587, and GSE58294 were retrieved from the GEO database. Using R software, we identified ferroptosis-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in IS. Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) and enrichment analyses were conducted. The ROC curve was plotted to explore the diagnostic significance of those identified genes. The consistent clustering method was used to classify the IS samples. The level of immune cell infiltration of different subtypes was evaluated by ssGSEA and CIBERSORT algorithm. Validation was conducted in the test sets GSE37587 and GSE58294. Results: Twenty-one ferroptosis-related DEGs were detected in IS vs. the normal controls. Enrichment analysis shows that the 21 DEGs are involved in monocarboxylic acid metabolism, iron ion response, and ferroptosis. Moreover, their expression levels were pertinent to the age and gender of IS patients. The ROC analysis demonstrated remarkable diagnostic values of LAMP2, TSC22D3, SLC38A1, and RPL8 for IS. Transcription factors and targeting miRNAs of the 21 DEGs were determined. Vandetanib, FERRIC CITRATE, etc., were confirmed as potential therapeutic drugs for IS. Using 11 hub genes, IS patients were categorized into C1 and C2 subtypes. The two subtypes significantly differed between immune cell infiltration, checkpoints, and HLA genes. The 272 DEGs were identified from two subtypes and their biological functions were explored. Verification was performed in the GSE37587 and GSE58294 datasets. Conclusion: Our findings indicate that ferroptosis plays a critical role in the diversity and complexity of the IS immune microenvironment.

Interdependent cultures (such as the Chinese) and independent cultures (such as the German) differ in their attitude towards harmony that is more valued in interdependent cultures. Interdependent and independent cultures also differ in their appreciation of anger--an emotion that implies the disruption of harmony. The present study investigated if interdependent and independent cultures foster distinct brain activity associated with empathic processing of familiar angry, familiar neutral, and unfamiliar neutral faces. Using functional MRI, we scanned Chinese and German healthy subjects during an intentional empathy task, a control task (the evaluation of skin color), and a baseline condition. The subject groups were matched with regard to age, gender, and education. Behaviorally, Chinese subjects described themselves as significantly more interdependent compared to German subjects. The contrast 'intentional empathy for familiar angry'>'baseline' revealed several regions, including the left inferior frontal cortex, the left supplementary motor area, and the left insula, that showed comparable hemodynamic responses in both groups. However, the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex had stronger hemodynamic responses in Chinese subjects in the contrast 'intentional empathy for familiar angry'>'baseline'. Germans, in contrast, showed stronger hemodynamic responses in the right temporo-parietal junction, right inferior and superior temporal gyrus, and left middle insula for the same contrast. Hemodynamic responses in the latter three brain regions correlated with interdependences scores over all subjects. Our results suggest that enhanced emotion regulation during empathy with anger in the interdependent lifestyle is mediated by the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex. Increased tolerance towards the expression of anger in the independent lifestyle, in contrast, is associated with increased activity of the right inferior and superior temporal gyrus and the left middle insula.

The pain matrix including the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) mediates not only first person pain experience but also empathy for others' pain. It remains unknown, however, whether empathic neural responses of the pain matrix are modulated by racial in-group/out-group relationship. Using functional magnetic resonance imaging we demonstrate that, whereas painful stimulations applied to racial in-group faces induced increased activations in the ACC and inferior frontal/insula cortex in both Caucasians and Chinese, the empathic neural response in the ACC decreased significantly when participants viewed faces of other races. Our findings uncover neural mechanisms of an empathic bias toward racial in-group members.
