More and more evidence shows that long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) plays an important role in the biological behavior of many kinds of malignant tumors, but the specific function of lncRNA Linc00657 in cervical cancer is still unknown. The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of Linc00657 on the malignant progression of cervical cancer and its potential mechanism. In two kinds of cervical cancer cell lines and normal cervical epithelial cells, qRT-PCR showed increased expression of Linc00657 in cervical cancer cells. Through MTT, clone formation test, flow cytometry, wound healing test and Transwell test, it has been found that overexpression of Linc00657 could promote the proliferation,migration and invasion of cervical cancer cells,and inhibit apoptosis. Through the StarBase database, it was found that there may be a mutual regulatory relationship between Linc00657 and Skp2, and Skp2 may be the downstream target of Linc00657. QRT-PCR detection confirmed that the expression of Skp2 was increased in cervical cancer cells with overexpression of Linc00657. TIMER2 database found that Skp2 was associated with lipid metabolic enzymes and immune cell infiltration. It was found that Linc00657 knockdown inhibited tumor growth and metastasis and inhibited the expression of Skp2 in vivo. In short, our research shows that Linc00657 has carcinogenic properties in cervical cancer, and LINC00657 promotes the occurrence of cervical cancer by up-regulating the expression of Skp2. We predict that Linc00657/mir30s/Skp2 axis plays a role in the malignant progression of cervical cancer. In addition, Skp2 may participate in cancer immune response and promote lymph node metastasis of cervical cancer through lipid reprogramming. These findings also provide promising targets for the diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer.

Clarifying the aberrations arising from freeform surfaces is of great significance for maximizing the potential of freeform surfaces in the design of optical systems. However, the current precision in calculating aberration contribution of freeform surface terms for non-zero field of view is insufficient, impeding the development of freeform imaging systems with larger field of view. This paper proposes a high-precision analysis of aberration contribution of freeform surface terms based on nodal aberration theory, particularly for non-zero field points. Accurate calculation formulas of aberrations generated by Zernike terms on freeform surface are presented. Design examples illustrate that the calculation error of the provided formulas is 78% less than that of conventional theoretical values. Building upon high-precision analysis, we propose an optimization method for off-axis freeform surface systems and illustrate its effectiveness through the optimization of an off-axis three-mirror system. This research extends the applicability of nodal aberration theory in aberration analysis, offering valuable insights for the optimal design and alignment of optical freeform systems.

BACKGROUND: Cardiac involvement in patients with immunoglubin light-chain amyloidosis (AL) is a major determinant of treatment choice and prognosis, and early identification of high-risk patients can initiate intensive treatment strategies to achieve better survival. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of native T1 and ECV in patients with AL-cardiac amyloidosis (CA). METHODS: A total of 38 patients (mean age 59 ± 11 years) with AL diagnosed histopathologically from July 2017 to October 2021 were collected consecutively. All patients were performed 3.0-T cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) including cine, T1 mapping, and late gadolinium enhancement (LGE). Pre- and post-contrast T1 mapping images were transferred to a dedicated research software package (CVI42 v5.11.3) to create parametric T1 and ECV values. In addition, clinical and laboratory data of all patients were collected, and patients or their family members were regularly followed up by telephone every 3 months. The starting point of follow-up was the time of definitive pathological diagnosis, and the main endpoint was all-cause death. Kaplan-Meier analysis and Cox proportional risk model were used to evaluate the association between native T1 and ECV and death in patients with CA. RESULTS: After a median follow-up of 27 (16, 37) months, 12 patients with CA died. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that elevated native T1 and ECV were closely associated with poor prognosis in patients with CA. The survival rate of patients with ECV > 44% and native T1 > 1389ms were significantly lower than that of patients with ECV ≤ 44% and native T1 ≤ 1389ms (Log-rank P < 0.001), and was not associated with the presence of LGE. After adjusting for clinical risk factors and CMR measurements in a stepwise multivariate Cox regression model, ECV [risk ratio (HR):1.37, 95%CI: 1.09-1.73, P = 0.008] and native T1 (HR:1.01, 95%CI: 1.00-1.02, P = 0.037) remained independent predictors of all-cause mortality in patients with CA. CONCLUSIONS: Both native T1 and ECV were independently prognostic for mortality in patients with CA, and can be used as important indicators for clinical prognosis assessment of AL.

To build a long-wave infrared catadioptric optical system for deep space low-temperature target detection with a lightweight and wide field of view, this work conducted a study that encompasses a local cooling optical system, topology optimization-based metal mirror design, and additive manufacturing. First, a compact catadioptric optical system with local cooling was designed. This system features a 55 mm aperture, a 110 mm focal length, and a 4-degree by 4-degree field of view. Secondly, we applied the principles of topology optimization to design the primary mirror assembly, the secondary mirror assembly, and the connecting baffle. The third and fourth modes achieved a resonance frequency of 1213.7 Hz. Then, we manufactured the mirror assemblies using additive manufacturing and single-point diamond turning, followed by the centering assembly method to complete the optical assembly. Lastly, we conducted performance testing on the system, with the test results revealing that the modulation transfer function (MTF) curves of the optical system reached the diffraction limit across the entire field of view. Remarkably, the system's weight was reduced to a mere 96.04 g. The use of additive manufacturing proves to be an effective means of enhancing optical system performance.

Currently, purely organic compounds showing ambient phosphorescence with high efficiency (ΦP ) and ultra-long lifetime (τP ) are quite rare and often need to be achieved in hydrophilic poly(vinyl alcohol)-based hosts. This severely limits their applications. Here, we provide a solution to this issue by constructing an ortho-linked donor-acceptor (D-A) dyad whose D moiety has not only a long-lived T1 state to achieve a long τP , but also a Tn state that is close to the S1 state of the dyad to trigger effective spin-orbit charge transfer intersystem crossing (SOCT-ISC). The rationality of this strategy was validated by a new phosphor OF-BCz that is able to show a τP of 1.92 s and a ΦP of 30 % even in a less rigid matrix of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). Excitingly, OF-BCz exhibited its potential as both a photocuring initiator and an in situ quality indicator, allowing for the visual detection of defects in photolithographic patterning.

RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES: An accurate prognostic model is essential for the development of treatment strategies for gallbladder cancer (GBC). This study proposes an integrated model using clinical features, radiomics, and deep learning based on contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) images for survival prediction in patients with GBC after surgical resection. METHODS: A total of 167 patients with GBC who underwent surgical resection at two medical institutions were retrospectively enrolled. After obtaining the pre-treatment CT images, the tumor lesions were manually segmented, and handcrafted radiomics features were extracted. A clinical prognostic signature and radiomics signature were built using machine learning algorithms based on the optimal clinical features or handcrafted radiomics features, respectively. Subsequently, a DenseNet121 model was employed for transfer learning on the radiomics image data and as the basis for the deep learning signature. Finally, we used logistic regression on the three signatures to obtain the unified multimodal model for comprehensive interpretation and analysis. RESULTS: The integrated model performed better than the other models, exhibiting the highest area under the curve (AUC) of 0.870 in the test set, and the highest concordance index (C-index) of 0.736 in predicting patient survival rates. A Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated that patients in high-risk group had a lower survival probability compared to those in low-risk group (log-rank p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The nomogram is useful for predicting the survival of patients with GBC after surgical resection, helping in the identification of high-risk patients with poor prognosis and ultimately facilitating individualized management of patients with GBC.

Under diabetic conditions, blood glucose fluctuations and exacerbated immunopathological inflammatory environments pose significant challenges to periosteal regenerative repair strategies. Responsive immune regulation in damaged tissues is critical for the immune microenvironment, osteogenesis, and angiogenesis stabilization. Considering the high-glucose microenvironment of such acute injury sites, a functional glucose-responsive immunomodulation-assisted periosteal regeneration composite material-PLA(Polylactic Acid)/COLI(Collagen I)/Lipo(Liposome)-APY29 (PCLA)-is constructed. Aside from stimulating osteogenic differentiation, owing to the presence of surface self-assembled type I collagen in the scaffolds, PCLA can directly respond to focal area high-glucose microenvironments. The PCLA scaffolds trigger the release of APY29-loaded liposomes, shifting the macrophages toward the M2 phenotype, inhibiting the release of inflammatory cytokines, improving the bone immune microenvironment, and promoting osteogenic differentiation and angiogenesis. Bioinformatics analyses show that PCLA enhances bone repair by inhibiting the inflammatory signal pathway regulating the polarization direction and promoting osteogenic and angiogenic gene expression. In the calvarial periosteal defect model of diabetic rats, PCLA scaffolds induce M2 macrophage polarization and improve the inflammatory microenvironment, significantly accelerating periosteal repair. Overall, the PCLA scaffold material regulates immunity in fluctuating high-glucose inflammatory microenvironments, achieves relatively stable and favorable osteogenic microenvironments, and facilitates the effective design of functionalized biomaterials for bone regeneration therapy in patients with diabetes.

A large relative aperture is essential to improve the spatial resolution of zoom systems. To overcome the limitations of the existing off-axis reflective mechanical zoom system with a low zoom rate and a small relative aperture, this paper proposes a non-axis movement method for increasing the degrees of freedom. On the basis of nodal aberration theory, passive eccentricity is changed into active eccentricity to achieve wave aberration balance in the multiple structures of the zoom imaging system. An off-axis aspherical four-mirror non-axial mechanical zoom optical system is designed and fabricated. The prototype has been successfully processed and assembled with the help of computer-aided alignment technology. The prototype's F-number is 4 and zoom ratio is 4.57:1. Experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed method.

In this paper, a design method of diffraction structure based on metasurface is proposed for light splitting and focusing simultaneously. In the method, firstly, the light field calculation model of the proposed structure is established based on Fresnel diffraction and the transmittance function is calculated. Then, the model structural parameter selection mechanism is determined, and the spectrum resolution equation of the structure is derived. Simulation results indicate that the proposed method can offer a broader working bandwidth and enhanced higher resolution compared to off-axis meta-lens. Moreover, this proposed method can be deployed in high-resolution, wide-band ultra-compact spectrometer systems potentially.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to develop and validate a machine learning model incorporating both dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) angiography quantitative parameters and clinically relevant risk factors for the identification of symptomatic carotid plaques to prevent acute cerebrovascular events. METHODS: The data of 180 patients with carotid atherosclerosis plaques were analysed from January 2017 to December 2021; 110 patients (64.03±9.58 years old, 20 women, 90 men) were allocated to the symptomatic group, and 70 patients (64.70±9.89 years old, 50 women, 20 men) were allocated to the asymptomatic group. Overall, five machine learning models using the XGBoost algorithm, based on different CT and clinical features, were developed in the training cohort. The performances of all five models were assessed in the testing cohort using receiver operating characteristic curves, accuracy, recall rate, and F1 score. RESULTS: The shapley additive explanation (SHAP) value ranking showed fat fraction (FF) as the highest among all CT and clinical features and normalised iodine density (NID) as the 10th. The model based on the top 10 features from the SHAP measurement showed optimal performance (area under the curve [AUC] .885, accuracy .833, recall rate .933, F1 score .861), compared with the other four models based on conventional CT features (AUC .588, accuracy .593, recall rate .767, F1 score .676), DECT features (AUC .685, accuracy .648, recall rate .667, F1 score .678), conventional CT and DECT features (AUC .819, accuracy .740, recall rate .867, F1 score .788), and all CT and clinical features (AUC .878, accuracy .833, recall rate .867, F1 score .852). CONCLUSION: FF and NID can serve as useful imaging markers of symptomatic carotid plaques. This tree-based machine learning model incorporating both DECT and clinical features could potentially comprise a non-invasive method for identification of symptomatic carotid plaques to guide clinical treatment strategies.

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this research was to investigate whether MRI and Simultaneous Hybrid PET/MRI images were consistent in the histological classification of patients with focal cortical dysplasia. Additionally, this research aimed to evaluate the postoperative outcomes with the MRI and Simultaneous Hybrid PET/MRI images of focal cortical dysplasia. METHODS: A total of 69 cases in this research were evaluated preoperatively for drug-resistant seizures, and then surgical resection procedures of the epileptogenic foci were performed. The postoperative result was histopathologically confirmed as focal cortical dysplasia, and patients then underwent PET and MRI imaging within one month of the seizure. In this study, head MRI was performed using a 3.0 T magnetic resonance scanner (Philips) to obtain 3D T1WI images. The Siemens Biograph 16 scanner was used for a routine scanning of the head to obtain PET images. BrainLAB's iPlan software was used to fuse 3D T1 images with PET images to obtain PET/MRI images. RESULTS: Focal cortical dysplasia was divided into three types according to ILAE: three patients were classified as type I, twenty-five patients as type II, and forty-one patients as type III. Patients age of onset under 18 and age of operation over 18 had a longer duration (p = 0.036, p = 0.021). MRI had a high lesion detection sensitivity of type III focal cortical dysplasia (p = 0.003). Simultaneous Hybrid PET/MRI showed high sensitivity in detecting type II and III focal cortical dysplasia lesions (p = 0.037). The lesions in Simultaneous Hybrid PET/MRI-positive focal cortical dysplasia patients were mostly located in the temporal and multilobar (p = 0.005, 0.040). CONCLUSION: Simultaneous Hybrid PET/MRI has a high accuracy in detecting the classification of focal cortical dysplasia. The results of this study indicate that patients with focal cortical dysplasia with positive Simultaneous Hybrid PET/MRI have better postoperative prognoses.

Lignin-based carbon fibers (LCFs) with graphitized structures decorated on their surfaces were successfully prepared using the simultaneous catalyst loading and chemical stabilization of melt-spun lignin fibers, followed by quick carbonization functionalized as catalytic graphitization. This technique not only enables surficial graphitized LCF preparation at a relatively low temperature of 1200 °C but also avoids additional treatments used in conventional carbon fiber production. The LCFs were then used as electrode materials in a supercapacitor assembly. Electrochemical measurements confirmed that LCF-0.4, a sample with a relatively low specific surface area of 89.9 m2 g-1, exhibited the best electrochemical properties. The supercapacitor with LCF-0.4 had a specific capacitance of 10.7 F g-1 at 0.5 A g-1, a power density of 869.5 W kg-1, an energy density of 15.7 Wh kg-1, and a capacitance retention of 100% after 1500 cycles, even without activation.

Emerin is an inner nuclear envelope protein encoded by the EMD gene, mutations in which cause Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy type 1 (EDMD1). Cardiac involvement has become a major threat to patients with EDMD1; however, the cardiovascular phenotype spectrums of emerinopathy and the mechanisms by which emerin regulates cardiac pathophysiology remain unclear. Here, we identified a novel nonsense mutation (c.C57G, p.Y19X) in the EMD gene in a Han Chinese family through high-throughput sequencing. Two family members were found to have EDMD1 with muscle weakness and cardiac arrhythmia. Mechanistically, we first discovered that knockdown of emerin in HL-1 or H9C2 cardiomyocytes lead to impaired mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation capacity with downregulation of electron transport chain complex I and IV and upregulation of complex III and V. Moreover, loss of emerin in HL-1 cells resulted in collapsed mitochondrial membrane potential, altered mitochondrial networks and downregulated multiple factors in RNA and protein level, such as PGC1α, DRP1, MFF, MFN2, which are involved in regulation of mitochondrial biogenesis, fission and fusion. Our findings suggest that targeting mitochondrial bioenergetics might be an effective strategy against cardiac disorders caused by EMD mutations.

Purpose: Lacunar infarction is usually diagnosed by conventional technologies, such as CT and diffusion weighted imaging (DWI). To improve the accuracy of diagnosis, neurocognitive screening is still needed. Therefore, additional imaging methods that can assist and provide more accurate and rapid diagnostics are urgently needed. As an initial step towards potentially using MR elastography (MRE) for such diagnostic purposes, we tested the hypothesis that the mechanical properties of tissue in the vicinity of cerebral vasculature change following lacunar infarction in a way that can be quantified using MRE. Patients and Methods: MRE and MR angiography (MRA) images from 51 patients diagnosed with lacunar infarction and 54 healthy volunteers were acquired on a 3T scanner. All diagnoses were confirmed by matching neurocognitive test results to locations of flow obstruction in MRA. ROIs of the cerebral vessels segmented on the MRA images were mapped to the MRE images. Interpolation-based inversion was applied to estimate the regional biomechanical properties of ROIs that included cerebral vessels. The effects of lacunar infarction, sex, and age were analyzed using analysis of covariance (ANOCOVA). Results: Shear moduli over vessel ROIs were significantly lower for the lacunar infarction group than those of the healthy control group. A positive correlation between modulus over vessel ROIs and age was observed. However, no significant correlation was found between sex and the regional biomechanical properties of the vessel ROIs. Conclusion: Results supported the hypothesis and suggest that biomechanical properties may be of utility in diagnosis of lacunar infarction.

Background: Late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) is useful for the detection of cardiac amyloidosis (CA), but characteristic LGE patterns do not always occur or they appear late in the disease. Native T1 and extracellular volume (ECV) by T1 mapping may improve disease detection and quantify myocardial amyloid load. Methods: Thirty patients with definite CA, 10 patients with possible CA, 20 patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) and 40 healthy volunteers were performed 3.0-T CMR including cine, pre- and postcontrast T1 mapping and LGE. Receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curves were constructed to assess the diagnostic ability of native T1 and ECV for CA. Correlation analysis between native T1 or ECV and cardiac biomarkers, structure, and function indexes were assessed using Pearson or Spearman correlation, as appropriate. Results: Native T1 values were 1,429±93, 1,290±49, 1,304±42, and 1,225±21 ms, in definite CA, possible CA, HCM, and healthy controls, respectively. ECV values were 44%±9%, 34%±5%, 33%±4%, and 24%±3%, in definite CA, possible CA, HCM, and healthy controls, respectively. Native T1 [area under curve (AUC) =0.89, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.75-1.00, P<0.001] and ECV (AUC =0.99, 95% CI: 0.98-1.00, P<0.001) showed good ability to differentiate LGE-negative patients with possible CA from healthy controls, especially ECV. Positive correlations were found between native T1 or ECV and New York Heart Association (NYHA) functional class (r=0.673 and r=0.594, respectively; P<0.001), NT-proBNP (r=0.668 and r=0.603, respectively; P<0.001), troponin T (r=0.724 and r=0.591, respectively; P<0.001), left ventricular (LV) mass index (r=0.668 and r=0.579, respectively; P<0.001), and global LV wall thickness (r=0.765 and r=0.629, respectively; P<0.001). Negative correlations were found between native T1 or ECV and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (r=-0.761 and r=-0.668, respectively; P<0.001) and left ventricular stroke volume (LVSV) (r=-0.777 and r=-0.729, respectively; P<0.001). Conclusions: Native T1 and ECV, which are able to reflect cardiac biochemistry, structure, and function, have high diagnostic accuracy for detecting CA, especially in LGE-negative patients, and thus could be used for early diagnosis of CA.

The hypoxic microenvironment contributes to the chemoresistance of many malignant tumors including colorectal cancer (CRC). Accumulating studies have indicated that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in chemotherapy resistance. In this study, we aimed to determine the effect of lncRNAs in hypoxia-mediated resistance in CRC and its potential mechanism. Here, we discovered that hypoxia-induced oxaliplatin resistance and HOX transcript antisense RNA (HOTAIR) expression was increased in hypoxia-treated CRC cell lines and CRC tumors. Knockdown of HOTAIR by siRNA reduced the viability and proliferation of CRC cells treated with oxaliplatin and reversed hypoxia-induced resistance. Mechanically, we found that HOTAIR modulates zinc finger E-box binding homeobox 1 (ZEB1) expression by negative regulations of miR-1277-5p. When miR-1277-5p was silenced, knockdown of HOTAIR was unable to reduce the oxaliplatin resistance in CRC cells. In mouse models of CRC, HOTAIR knockdown markedly inhibited the tumor growth when treated with oxaliplatin. Thus, HOTAIR/miR-1277-5p/ZEB1 axis appears a promising therapeutic target for improving the oxaliplatin efficacy in CRC.

Background: Family doctor contract services (FDCS) has played a key role in diabetes management in China since 2016. The influence of FDCS on the physiological indexes of individuals with diabetes has been examined. However, little attention has been paid to its effect on the Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL). This study aims to fill this knowledge gap by evaluating the effect of FDCS on the HRQoL of individuals with diabetes. Methods: We identified 382 individuals with diabetes receiving all follow-up surveys in 2013, 2015, and 2018 from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). The HRQoL of the included individuals was estimated using results from the Short Form 36 (SF-36) questionnaire. The propensity score matching with the difference-in-differences (PSM-DID) approach was applied to quantify the effect of FDCS on the HRQoL among individuals with diabetes. A robust test was performed by setting the 2015 data as the treatment group for the placebo test. Results: The mean score of role-emotional (RE) increased from 54.25 to 61.63 among those who signed up to receive FDCS, while the corresponding score decreased from 57.77 to 51.04 among those who did not receive FDCS. Results from the regression analysis indicated that the use of FDCS was associated with significant improvement in RE (+14.10, p = 0.04) among individuals with diabetes. We did not find a statistically meaningful association between the FDCS and any of the other HRQoL domains: physical functioning (PF), role-physical (RP), bodily pain (BP), general health (GH), vitality (VT), social functioning (SF), and mental health (MH), respectively. The robustness analysis of the model indicated that the results were robust. Conclusion: The FDCS for diabetes in China was associated with a significant improvement in RE. Due to a limited time since the launch of FDCS (i.e., 2016), the recipient's physical health did not show marked improvement. In the future, FDCS should pay more attention to the physiological health of individuals with diabetes. Moreover, psychological services also need to be maintained and not slackened. At the same time, it is strongly recommended to pay more attention to the HRQoL of individuals with diabetes and more comprehensive health.

In this study, we explore the psychological mechanisms underlying the relation between college students' post-traumatic growth and their entrepreneurial intentions in the post-COVID-19 era. Using the post-traumatic growth, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, prosocial tendency, and entrepreneurial intention scales, we tested 690 valid samples of Chinese undergraduates (including 445 men and 245 women). The results revealed that post-traumatic growth of college students in the post-COVID-19 era will have a significant and positive effect on their entrepreneurial intentions. Additionally, the results indicated that students' entrepreneurial self-efficacy and prosocial tendencies play a partial mediation role between post-traumatic growth and entrepreneurial intentions in the post-COVID-19 era and that there is a chain mediating effect between students' entrepreneurial self-efficacy and prosocial tendencies. This study provides valuable insights into the influence of post-traumatic growth on entrepreneurial intentions among college students in the post-COVID-19 era and suggests that colleges and universities can improve students' entrepreneurial intentions by adopting measures to foster their post-traumatic growth, entrepreneurial self-efficacy, and prosocial tendencies.

Additive manufacturing can realize complex structures that cannot be achieved by conventional manufacturing methods. At the same time, topology optimization provides more excellent solutions for structural design. In the field of guidance and navigation optics, ultra-lightweight, high rigidity, and high integration are important requirements. Metal mirrors are widely used in this field due to their good processing performance. In this paper, we describe the integrated design and manufacturing of aluminum alloy primary mirror assembly (mirrors and mirror backplane) through the combination of additive manufacturing technology and topology optimization. Compared with the conventional design, it shows better performance.

BACKGROUND: The role of occlusal factors on the occurrence of temporomandibular joint disorders (TMDs) is still unclear and it is tricky for orthodontists to treat malocclusions in patients with TMDs. We report the case of the second orthodontic treatment of an adult female with Class II division 2 malocclusion associated with TMD. With the removal of anterior occlusal interference, TMD symptoms were alleviated and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images showed the bilateral condyles shifted forward. CASE SUMMARY: This case report presented an orthodontic retreatment of an adult female with TMD and mandibular backward positioning based on CBCT examination and Joint Space Index (JSI) analysis. The left and right JSI values of -38.5 and -52.6 indicated that the position of bilateral condyles had posterior displacement. Ten years prior to this evaluation, she underwent orthodontic treatment resulting in the extraction of two upper premolars and one lower central incisor. The joint symptoms, including pain and sounds, were alleviated along with verified mandibular forward repositioning by extraction of another lower central incisor. CONCLUSION: Mandibular backward positioning could be associated with TMD. JSI analysis based on CBCT is a convenient way to examine condylar positions quantitatively.
