【Objective】 To explore the effect of physical fitness training on social adaptive behavior of children with global developmental delay (GDD), in order to provide treatment experience for GDD children. 【Methods】 From November 2021 to December 2022, a total of 60 children with GDD diagnosed and treated in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Jiamusi University were enrolled in this study, and were randomly divided into control group (n=30) and test group (n=30).The control group received routine rehabilitation treatment, and the test group received physical fitness training additionally.The intervention lasted for 12 weeks, with the frequency of 3times/week, 30min/time.All subjects were tested for physical fitness and children′s social adaptive behavior before and after training. 【Results】 Before treatment, the difference between the results of physical fitness test and social adaptive behavior scores of the GDD children in two groups was not statistically significant (P>0.05).After 3 months of treatment, the physical fitness test scores, except body mass index (BMI), and social adaptive behavior scores of the GDD children in two groups were significantly different from those before treatment (P<0.05), and the physical fitness test scores (except for height, weight and BMI) and the social adaptive behavior of the test group were better than those of the control group (t=2.363,4.020,3.331,3.338,P<0.05). 【Conclusion】 Physical fitness training can significantly improve the adaptive behavior, independent function, cognitive function and social/self-control ability of GDD children.

With the growth of computing power, deep learning methods have recently been widely used in machine fault diagnosis. In order to realize highly efficient diagnosis accuracy, people need to know the detailed health condition of collected signals from equipment. However, in the actual situation, it is costly and time-consuming to close down machines and inspect components. This seriously impedes the practical application of data-driven diagnosis. In comparison, the full-labeled machine signals from test rigs or online datasets can be achieved easily, which is helpful for the diagnosis of real equipment. Thus, we introduced an improved Wasserstein distance-based transfer learning method (WDA), which learns transferable features between labeled and unlabeled signals from different forms of equipment. In WDA, Wasserstein distance with cosine similarity is applied to narrow the gap between signals collected from different machines. Meanwhile, we use the Kuhn-Munkres algorithm to calculate the Wasserstein distance. In order to further verify the proposed method, we developed a set of case studies, including two different mechanical parts, five transfer scenarios, and eight transfer learning fault diagnosis experiments. WDA reached an average accuracy of 93.72% in bearing fault diagnosis and 84.84% in ball screw fault diagnosis, which greatly surpasses state-of-the-art transfer learning fault diagnosis methods. In addition, comprehensive analysis and feature visualization are also presented.

BACKGROUND: Measures of general cognitive and adaptive ability in adults with Down syndrome (DS) used by previous studies vary substantially. This review summarises the different ability measures used previously, focusing on tests of intelligence quotient (IQ) and adaptive behaviour (AB), and where possible examines floor effects and differences between DS subpopulations. We aimed to use information regarding existing measures to provide recommendations for individual researchers and the DS research community. RESULTS: Nineteen studies reporting IQ test data met inclusion for this review, with 17 different IQ tests used. Twelve of these IQ tests were used in only one study while five were used in two different studies. Eleven studies reporting AB test data met inclusion for this review, with seven different AB tests used. The only AB scales to be used by more than one study were the Vineland Adaptive Behaviour Scale (VABS; used by three studies) and the Vineland Adaptive Behavior Scale 2nd Edition (VABS-II; used by two studies). A variety of additional factors were identified which make comparison of test scores between studies problematic, including different score types provided between studies (e.g. raw scores compared to age-equivalent scores) and different participant inclusion criteria (e.g. whether individuals with cognitive decline were excluded). Floor effects were common for IQ tests (particularly for standardised test scores). Data exists to suggest that floor effects may be minimised by the use of raw test scores rather than standardised test scores. Raw scores may, therefore, be particularly useful in longitudinal studies to track change in cognitive ability over time. CONCLUSIONS: Studies assessing general ability in adults with DS are likely to benefit from the use of both IQ and AB scales. The DS research community may benefit from the development of reporting standards for IQ and AB data, and from the sharing of raw study data enabling further in-depth investigation of issues highlighted by this review.

BACKGROUND: A child's adaptive ability is important for personal career and social development. Maternal self-esteem may help shape a child's behavior. This study aims to investigate whether maternal self-esteem measured when their children were toddlers predicts their children's adaptive skills at school age, and whether prenatal lead exposure modifies such a relationship. METHODS: We assessed prenatal lead exposure using cord blood lead and maternal bone lead around delivery (tibia and patella lead measured in vivo by K-x-ray-fluorescence) among 192 mother-child pairs investigated in Mexico from 1994 to 2011. Maternal self-esteem was measured using the Coopersmith-Self-esteem-Inventory when children were 2 years old. When children were 7-to-15 years old, we measured children's blood lead levels and administered the 2nd edition of Behavior-Assessment-System-for-Children (BASC-2) parent-rating-scales (PRS) and Self-Reports of Personality (SRP) to evaluate children's adaptive skills. RESULTS: Median (P25, P75) values for maternal patella and tibia lead, cord blood lead and children's current blood lead levels were 12.6 (3.2, 21.7) µg/g, 10.2 (4.1, 16.0) µg/g, 5.5 (3.5, 8.1) µg/dL and 2.7 (2.0, 4.0) µg/dL, respectively. In adjusted models, increased maternal self-esteem was associated with increased adaptive T-scores on the BASC-2 PRS and SRP scales. This relationship was weaker in high prenatal lead-exposure groups (high cord blood lead or patella lead groups, P25P100) compared with low prenatal lead-exposure (low cord blood lead or patella lead groups, P1P25) groups (P-interaction values < 0.10). No significant interactions between maternal tibia lead and self-esteem on children's adaptive T-scores were observed (P-interaction values > 0.10). CONCLUSIONS: Toddlers of mothers with high (vs. low) self-esteem have better adaptive abilities when they are of school-age. Prenatal lead exposure may attenuate or eliminate this positive association.
