Background: Over the past decades, Capparis spinosa has been considered a traditional therapy for relieving different illnesses. Mastitis causes a decrease in milk production and is usually treated with injectable and intra-mammary antibiotics. Aim: Investigating the therapeutic effects of C. spinosa root extract on subclinically mastitic ewes. Methods: Totally, 164 lactating ewes were selected randomly from the flocks that existed in some areas belonging to Al-Najaf City (Najaf, Iraq) from September to December (2022). Each study animal was subjected to direct sampling of milk before and once each week for 6 weeks (42 days) post treatment to be tested directly by the California mastitis test (CMT). Results: Concerning phytochemical testing of ethanolic root extract, the findings revealed a significant increase in the concentration of alkaloids, flavonoids, polyphenols, and tannins when compared to other components such as coumarins, saponin, glycosides, amino acids, and steroids. In this study, there were 44.51% infected ewes with subclinical mastitis, involving 25.61%, 13.41%, and 5.49% for scores 1, 2, and 3, respectively. In comparison with pre-treatment week, insignificant alteration was seen in the values of all scores in therapeutic week 1. However, significant differences were initiated in values of score 0 in week 2; score 0 and score 2 in week 3; score 0, score 1, and score 2 in week 4; and values of all scores in weeks 5 and 6. Conclusion: This represents the first Iraqi study aimed at the treatment of subclinical mastitis in sheep using the root extract of C. spinosa. Phytochemical testing of ethanolic extract revealed the presence of variable amounts of chemical compounds that reflect their effects on treated animals by decreasing the number of infected ewes with the disease. Moreover, studies are greatly important to estimate the therapeutic effects of other parts of C. spinosa such as leaves and seeds, on the disease and other animal diseases.

Capers are excellent sources of phenolic compounds, which possess antioxidant activity and a variety of health benefits. Capers are often not eaten fresh due to their bitterness, instead, they are usually brined and eaten as pickles. For phenolics to display beneficial effects, they should be bioaccessible. This research aimed to investigate the bioaccessibility values of phenolics in raw and pickled capers. Before and after in vitro digestion, total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), ABTS, DPPH, and FRAP antioxidant activities and individual phenolics were determined in raw (RC) and pickled capers (PC). TPC, TFC, and antioxidant activity of capers were not affected by pickling. The bioaccessibility of TPC in RC and PC was 77.8% and 72.9%, respectively. In vitro digestion decreased ABTS, DPPH, and FRAP antioxidant activity values in RC and PC significantly (p < 0.05). Rutin (quercetin-3-O-rutinoside) and kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside were found to be the main phenolic compounds before and after in vitro digestion in all caper samples. After in vitro digestion, rutin content decreased, while kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside content in capers was stable. The results suggest that capers are really good sources of bioaccessible phenolics. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the overall effect of caper fruit on the modulation of glycemic, lipid profile, liver enzymes, and body mass. Google Scholar, PubMed, and Scopus were explored to collect relevant studies in the last 10 years. RCTs with caper fruit supplementation or consumption in different cohorts of subjects with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), Type-2-Diabetes (T2D), metabolic syndrome, and hyperlipidemia were included in this systematic review with a mean intervention duration from 2 to 12 weeks. The outcomes measured in this meta-analysis were liver enzymes such as aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT), the lipid profile represented by triglycerides, total cholesterol (TC) with LDL and HDL and also, weight, and fasting blood glucose. Five randomized controlled trials, which involved a total of 178 adults, were included. According to the results, caper fruit seems to decrease liver enzymes ALT -12.29 U/L [-24.47, -0.11], AST -2.20 U/L [-4.70, 0.31]. Furthermore, the lipid profile seems to improve with a decrease in triglycerides. -11.89 mg/dL [-33.73, 9.95], LDL -4.80 mg/dL [-16.34, 6.74], HDL 0.72 mg/dL [0.10, 1.34], total cholesterol -7.83 mg/dL [-20.04, 4.38], FPG -17.93 [-42.66, 6.79], weight -1.00 kg [-1.44, -0.56]. Significant modulations were found only for ALT, HDL, and weight. In conclusion, this systematic review and meta-analysis showed the paucity of data available on the topic while showing the potential role of caper fruit as a promising food for improving the liver-lipid profile axis in patients with metabolic syndrome and diabetes. Further studies are required to confirm these results.

The antibacterial activity of aqueous (AE) or ethanolic extracts (EE) of caper (Capparis spinosa) against Streptococcus agalactiae was evaluated in vitro. Both caper extracts showed antagonistic activity against S. agalactiae and the inhibition zones in case of ethanolic extracts were larger than those of aqueous ones. Additionally, TEM investigations show that S. agalactiae cells treated with both C. spinosa extracts were damaged and degraded and this damage was greater in case of ethanolic extract. Another study was done to assess the promotion effects of dietary caper (C. spinosa) extracts on growth, antioxidant and immune activity, and inflammation cytokine responses of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and its resistance to S. agalactiae infection. However, fish (40 ± 2 g) were fed on diets containing 1.0 and 2.0 g/kg feed of each caper extract as well as the control group (free of caper) for 6 weeks. Fish were intraperitoneally injected (IP) with Streptococcus agalactiae at the end of the feeding trial, and fish mortality was tracked for additional ten days. Compared with other treatments, fish fed on 2.0 g EE/kg feed had higher counts of white and red blood cells as well as higher hemoglobin levels accompanied with lower AST and ALT activities. Antioxidant (superoxide dismutase and catalase activities) and immune, total protein, globulin, lysozyme, and immunoglobulin M) indices were increased along with significant decline in MDA levels in both caper extracts treated fish groups compared to the control group. Significant promotion in fish growth was affected positively with the increase in both caper extracts; particularly, the larger fish growth was observed in the treatment of 2.0 g EE/kg feed. Expressions of IL-1ß and IL-8 were declined; meanwhile levels of IL-10, SOD and CAT genes were upregulated in fish fed on 2.0 g EE/kg feed compared to other groups. After being challenged with S. agalactiae infection, fish survival was considerably (P < 0.05) greater in fish groups that fed on diets with caper extracts; particularly 2.0 g EE/kg feed (75%); while all fish fed on the control one were dead. According to these findings, the antioxidant and immune response of Nile tilapia fingerlings is stimulated by ethanolic extract of caper (2.0 g/kg feed), which also enhanced the growth performance and fish resistance to S. agalactiae infection.

Post-transcriptional gene regulation is a fundamental mechanism that helps regulate the development and healthy aging of the nervous system. Mutations that disrupt the function of RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), which regulate post-transcriptional gene regulation, have increasingly been implicated in neurological disorders including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Fragile X Syndrome, and spinal muscular atrophy. Interestingly, although the majority of RBPs are expressed widely within diverse tissue types, the nervous system is often particularly sensitive to their dysfunction. It is therefore critical to elucidate how aberrant RNA regulation that results from the dysfunction of ubiquitously expressed RBPs leads to tissue specific pathologies that underlie neurological diseases. The highly conserved RBP and alternative splicing factor Caper is widely expressed throughout development and is required for the development of Drosophila sensory and motor neurons. Furthermore, caper dysfunction results in larval and adult locomotor deficits. Nonetheless, little is known about which proteins interact with Caper, and which RNAs are regulated by Caper. Here we identify proteins that interact with Caper in both neural and muscle tissue, along with neural specific Caper target RNAs. Furthermore, we show that a subset of these Caper-interacting proteins and RNAs genetically interact with caper to regulate Drosophila gravitaxis behavior.

The caper, from the Latin capra, meaning goat, is the common name for the salt-fermented floral buds of the perennial shrubs of the Capparis genus (Capparacea family). This genus is represented by about 250 species, including the very popular C. spinosa L. While the whole plant is edible, the aromatic floral buds are most widely consumed, being collected by hand prior to blooming, dried in the sun and pickled. Capers are usually served marinated in vinegar, brine or oil. They have a significant potential as dietary supplements due to their low calorie content and richness in bioactive phytochemicals. Numerous in vitro and in vivo studies have demonstrated that C. spinosa have various nutritional and biological properties, including antioxidant activity resulting from the presence of phenolic compounds. The present paper reviews the current literature concerning the biological properties of the fruits, buds, seeds, roots and leaves of C. spinosa, including their toxicity.

The caper (Capparis spinosa L.) is a winter deciduous, perennial plant that grows and completes its life cycle entirely during the dry season in the Mediterranean region. Mature caper fruits and their pericarp, collected from the wild shrubs of the Capparis spinosa grown in the inland and coastal sites of Greece during summer, have been studied in order to improve and complete our knowledge of the successful establishment of the C. spinosa in Mediterranean ecosystems. Caper fruits possess substantial nutritional, medicinal and ecological properties that vary according to the developmental stage, agroclimatic and geographical parameters; however, the fruit pericarp and pedicel, unlike the other aboveground plant parts of the caper, have not hitherto been studied. The higher sugar and starch content in the pericarps and fruit pedicels harvested from wild caper plants grown in coastal habitats was investigated in comparison with those from inland habitats, while the higher proline and nitrogen content in pericarps and fruit pedicels harvested from wild caper plants grown in inland habitats was investigated in comparison with those from coastal habitats. The PCA, based on the considered functional traits underlying the constitutional aspects, reveals groupings of fruit pericarp specimens of the C. spinosa collected from coastal and inland habitats that are grounds for adaptive variation.

Caper (Capparis spinosa L.) is a perennial shrub of the family Capparaceae, endemic to circum-Mediterranean countries. Caper carries a renowned nutritional value, especially in terms of vitamins and antioxidants related to the occurrence of flavonoids, alkaloids, and glucosinolates as main secondary metabolites. Caper extracts have also shown to display antibacterial, antifungal, analgesic, antitumor, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects which correlate the uses of the plant in folk medicine against both metabolic and infectious diseases. The present review aims to provide exhaustive phytochemistry and pharmacological properties survey on Caper constituents. Attention has also been given to the nutritional values and traditional uses of main organs to pinpoint research gaps for future investigations on the plant.

The implementation of alley cropping in orchards can be a sustainable strategy to increase farm productivity by crop diversification and contribute to climate change mitigation. In this research, we evaluated the short-term effect of alley cropping with reduced tillage on soil CO2 and N2O emissions and soil total organic carbon (TOC) in an almond orchard under Mediterranean rainfed conditions. We compared an almond monoculture with tillage in all plot surface (MC) with almond crop with reduced tillage and growth of Capparis spinosa (D1) and almond crop with reduced tillage and growth of Thymus hyemalis (D2). For two years, soil CO2 and N2O were measured, with soil sampling at the start and end of the experimental period. Results showed that CO2 emission rates followed the soil temperature pattern, while N2O emissions were not correlated with temperature nor moisture. Soil CO2 emissions were significantly higher in MC (87 mg m-2 h-1), with no significant differences between D1 and D2 (69 mg m-2 h-1). Some peaks in CO2 effluxes were observed after tillage operations during warm days. Soil N2O emission rates were not significantly different among treatments. Cumulative CO2 and CO2 equivalent (CO2e) emissions were significantly highest in MC. When CO2e emissions were expressed on a crop production basis, D2 showed the significantly lowest values (5080 g kg-1) compared to D1 (50,419 g kg-1) and MC (87,836 g kg-1), owing to the high thyme yield, additional to the almond yield. No production was obtained for C. spinosa, since at least two more years are required. TOC did not change with time in MC neither D1, but it significantly increased in D2 from 3.85 g kg-1 in 2019 to 4.62 g kg-1 in 2021. Thus, alley cropping can contribute to increase the agroecosystem productivity and reduce CO2 emissions. However, it is necessary to grow evergreen alley crops such as thyme to obtain short-term increases in soil organic matter. Thus, to estimate increases in TOC with alley cropping, the plantation density and the period required by the crop to cover most of the surface are essential factors at planning the cropping strategy.

RNA binding proteins (RBPs) play a fundamental role in the post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression within the germline and nervous system. This is underscored by the prevalence of mutations within RBP-encoding genes being implicated in infertility and neurological disease. We previously described roles for the highly conserved RBP Caper in neurite morphogenesis in the Drosophila larval peripheral system and in locomotor behavior. However, caper function has not been investigated outside the nervous system, although it is widely expressed in many different tissue types during embryogenesis. Here, we describe novel roles for Caper in fertility and mating behavior. We find that Caper is expressed in ovarian follicles throughout oogenesis but is dispensable for proper patterning of the egg chamber. Additionally, reduced caper function, through either a genetic lesion or RNA interference-mediated knockdown of caper in the female germline, results in females laying significantly fewer eggs than their control counterparts. Moreover, this phenotype is exacerbated with age. caper dysfunction also results in partial embryonic and larval lethality. Given that caper is highly conserved across metazoa, these findings may also be relevant to vertebrates.

Caper spurge, Euphorbia lathyris L., is an important energy crop and medicinal crop. Here, we generated a high-quality, chromosome-level genome assembly of caper spurge using Oxford Nanopore sequencing, Illumina sequencing, and Hi-C technology. The final genome assembly was ∼988.9 Mb in size, 99.8% of which could be grouped into 10 pseudochromosomes, with contig and scaffold N50 values of 32.6 and 95.7 Mb, respectively. A total of 651.4 Mb repetitive sequences and 36,342 protein-coding genes were predicted in the genome assembly. Comparative genomic analysis showed that caper spurge and castor bean clustered together. We found that no independent whole-genome duplication event had occurred in caper spurge after its split from the castor bean, and recent substantial amplification of long terminal repeat retrotransposons has contributed significantly to its genome expansion. Furthermore, based on gene homology searching, we identified a number of candidate genes involved in the biosynthesis of fatty acids and triacylglycerols. The reference genome presented here will be highly useful for the further study of the genetics, genomics, and breeding of this high-value crop, as well as for evolutionary studies of spurge family and angiosperms.

BACKGROUND: The mechanism of small-molecule stabilised protein-protein interactions is of growing interest in the pharmacological discovery process. A plethora of different substances including the aromatic sulphonamide E7820 have been identified to act by such a mechanism. The process of E7820 induced CAPERα degradation and the resultant transcriptional down regulation of integrin α2 expression has previously been described for a variety of different cell lines and been made responsible for E7820's antiangiogenic activity. Currently the application of E7820 in the treatment of various malignancies including pancreas carcinoma and breast cancer is being investigated in pre-clinical and clinical trials. It has been shown, that integrin α2 deficiency has beneficial effects on bone homeostasis in mice. To transfer E7820 treatment to bone-related pathologies, as non-healing fractures, osteoporosis and bone cancer might therefore be beneficial. However, at present no data is available on the effect of E7820 on osseous cells or skeletal malignancies. METHODS: Pre-osteoblastic (MC3T3 and Saos-2) cells and endothelial (eEnd2 cells and HUVECs) cells, each of human and murine origin respectively, were investigated. Vitality assay with different concentrations of E7820 were performed. All consecutive experiments were done at a final concentration of 50 ng/ml E7820. The expression and production of integrin α2 and CAPERα were investigated by quantitative real-time PCR and western blotting. Expression of CAPERα splice forms was differentiated by semi-quantitiative reverse transcriptase PCR. RESULTS: Here we present the first data showing that E7820 can increase integrin α2 expression in the pre-osteoblast MC3T3 cell line whilst also reproducing canonical E7820 activity in HUVECs. We show that the aberrant activity of E7820 in MC3T3 cells is likely due to differential activity of CAPERα at the integrin α2 promoter, rather than due to differential CAPERα degradation or differential expression of CAPERα spliceforms. CONCLUSION: The results presented here indicate that E7820 may not be suitable to treat certain malignancies of musculoskeletal origin, due to the increase in integrin α2 expression it may induce. Further investigation of the differential functioning of CAPERα and the integrin α2 promoter in cells of various origin would however be necessary to more clearly differentiate between cell lines that will positively respond to E7820 from those that will not.

RNA-binding proteins play an important role in the regulation of post-transcriptional gene expression throughout the nervous system. This is underscored by the prevalence of mutations in genes encoding RNA splicing factors and other RNA-binding proteins in a number of neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental disorders. The highly conserved alternative splicing factor Caper is widely expressed throughout the developing embryo and functions in the development of various sensory neural subtypes in the Drosophila peripheral nervous system. Here we find that caper dysfunction leads to aberrant neuromuscular junction morphogenesis, as well as aberrant locomotor behavior during larval and adult stages. Despite its widespread expression, our results indicate that caper function is required to a greater extent within the nervous system, as opposed to muscle, for neuromuscular junction development and for the regulation of adult locomotor behavior. Moreover, we find that Caper interacts with the RNA-binding protein Fmrp to regulate adult locomotor behavior. Finally, we show that caper dysfunction leads to various phenotypes that have both a sex and age bias, both of which are commonly seen in neurodegenerative disorders in humans.

The main objective of this study was to compare bioactive compounds and other important quality parameters of fresh and fermented caper buds and berries. Fresh samples were fermented using dry-salted and brined techniques. The higher phenolic content was determined in the fresh (1843.71 mg/100 g DW) and fermented buds (1198.54-1539.49 mg/100 g DW) rather than the berries (29.72-40.75 mg/100 g DW). Quercetin-3-O-rutinoside, kaempferol-3-O-rutinoside, and quercetin-O-galloly-O-hexoside were the principal phenolic components in fresh and fermented buds while quercetin-3-O-rutinoside in fresh and fermented berries. The amounts of isorhamnetin, quercetin, and kaempferol increased in fermented buds and berries compared to fresh samples. Similarly, antioxidant capacity of buds was found to be markedly higher than berries. As for sugar compounds, it was found that fructose in buds (1.56-3.23 g/100 g DW) and glucose in berries (1.96-6.38 g/100 g DW) had the highest amount. When total phenolics and antioxidant properties were evaluated, it was observed that they were better preserved in the dry-salted samples than the brined samples.

The impact of fermentation and bud size on the antioxidant activity, total phenolic content (TPC), and bioactive compounds of caper buds were investigated. The results showed significant differences in the bioactive properties depending on bud sizes and fermentation process. Antioxidant activity values of fresh caper buds were ranged between 69.61% (bid size) and 72.78% (small size), whereas the values of fermented ones varied between 12.50% (big size) and 39.09% (small size). TPC of fresh caper buds were found in the range of 357.81 mg GAE/100 g (medium size) and 372.22 mg GAE/100 g (small size), while those of fermented buds were ranged from 167.53 mg GAE/100 g (medium) to 246.01 mg GAE/100 g (small). Apigenin-7-glucoside, (+)-catechin, 1,2-dihydroxybenzene, and 3,4-dihydroxybenzoic, syringic, and gallic acids were the major phenolic compounds in both fresh and fermented caper buds. Overall, this study clearly demonstrated that both fermentation process and bud size significantly affected the antioxidant activity, TPC, and phenolic compounds of caper buds.

The in vitro rooting of three caper (Capparis spinosa L.) selected biotypes, grown in a commercial orchard on the Sicilian island of Salina (38°33'49" N), was performed using-as base material for rooting experiments-shoot explants proceeding from two different in vitro culture systems: solid medium and liquid culture in a PlantForm bioreactor (TIS). The regenerated shoots of each accession were submitted to different auxin treatments (NAA, IBA, IAA - 1 or 2 mg L-1; NAA+IBA 0.75 and 0.25 mg L-1, respectively), supplemented with sucrose or fructose (mg L-1). The highest rooting rate in terms of root percentage (67%) was reached with the explants of the selected accession 'Sal 39' proceeding from liquid culture in PlantForm and induced in the MS medium with sucrose, as a carbon source, supplemented with NAA 0.75 mg L-1 + IBA 0.25 mg L-1, after six days in a climatic growth chamber at 25 ± 1 °C in the dark and then placed under a cool white fluorescent lamp, with a PPFD of 35 µmol m-1 s-1 and a photoperiod of 16 h. On the other hand, poor rooting rate was generally achieved under all the tested experimental conditions with the other biotypes, 'Sal 37' and 'Sal 35', demonstrating the strong role exerted by the previously adopted proliferation method and by the genotype for successful caper in vitro rooting.

BACKGROUND: Optimal administration of fluids is an important part of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols. We sought to examine the relationship between perioperative crystalloid volume and adverse outcomes in five common types of surgical procedures with ERAS fluid guidelines in place where large randomized controlled trials have not been conducted: breast reconstruction, bariatric, major urologic, gynoncologic, and head and neck oncologic procedures. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study included patients who had undergone any one of the aforementioned procedures within any facility in a large multihospital alliance (Premier, Inc, Charlotte, NC) between 2008 and 2014. We used multivariable generalized additive models to examine relationships between the total crystalloid volume (TCV) on the day of surgery and a composite adverse outcome of prolonged (>75th percentile) hospital or intensive care unit stay or in-hospital mortality. Models were constructed separately within each surgical category and adjusted for demographic, clinical, and hospital characteristics. Informed consent requirements were waived because deidentified data were used. RESULTS: We identified 83,685 patients within 312 US hospitals undergoing breast reconstruction (n = 8738), bariatric surgery (n = 8067), major urologic surgery (n = 28,654), gynoncologic surgery (n = 34,559), and head/neck oncology surgery (n = 3667). There was significant patient-independent variation in TCV. Probabilities of adverse outcomes increased at a TCV below 3 L and above 6 L for all types of surgeries except bariatric surgery, where larger volumes were associated with progressively better outcomes. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE: Relationships between TCV and adverse outcomes were generally J shaped with higher volumes (>6 L) associated with increased risk. As per current ERAS guidelines, it is important to avoid excessive crystalloid volume in most surgical procedures except for bariatric surgery.

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a heterogeneous disease, which lacks expression of the estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and the human epidermal growth factor 2 receptor (HER2). This subtype of breast cancer has the poorest prognosis with limited therapies currently available, and hence additional options are needed. CAPER is a coactivator of the activator protein-1 (AP-1) (interacting specifically with the c-Jun component) and the ER and is known to be involved in human breast cancer pathogenesis. Recent published data have demonstrated a role for CAPER in TNBC and, as such, disrupting the function of CAPER with c-Jun could be a novel approach to treat TNBC patients. The data presented here shows the development and in vitro testing of CAPER-derived peptides that inhibit the coactivator activity of CAPER with c-Jun. These CAPER peptides result in a decrease in cell number and an increase in apoptosis in two TNBC cell lines, MDA-MB-231 and BT-549, while having no effect on the non-tumorigenic cell line MCF 10A. Additionally, two modes of action were demonstrated which appear to be cell line dependent: 1) a modulation of phosphorylated c-Jun leading to a decrease in Bcl-2 in MDA-MB-231 cells and a decrease in p21 in BT-549 cells and 2) a decrease in DNA repair proteins, leading to impaired DNA repair function in MDA-MB-231 cells. The data presented here supports further development of CAPER-derived peptides for the treatment of TNBC.

The aim of the study was to analyze potential health-promoting components of caper flower buds (Capparis spinosa L.) at six stages of development in two cultivars. Polyphenol compounds (flavonols, hydroxycinnamic acids, flavan-3-ols) were identified by Liquid Chromatography- quadrupole Time-of-Flight -Mass Spectrofotometer/Mass Spectrofotometer (LC-qTOF-MS/MS) and quantified by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography-Photodiode Array-Fluorescence Detector (UPLC-PDA-FL). Moreover, antioxidant properties (ABTS+•, FRAP, and ORAC), anti-diabetic potential (α-amylase and α-glucosidase), and anti-aging activity (acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE)) of the buds were examined. Total phenolic compounds in the investigated caper varied from 10,720 to 3256 mg/100 g dry weight (DW), and depended on a genotype and growing stage of caper flowers. Among six different growing stages, the one named 'nonpareilles' was characterized by significantly higher content of polyphenols than the remaining five stages. The flavonols in caper flowers represented a mixture of different glycosylated quercetin, kaempferol, myricetin, and isorhamnetin derivatives, accounting for 38%-67%, 15%-36%, 4%-7%, and 0.8%-3%, respectively, of total flavonols,. Their contents strongly depended on the growth stage. 'Nonpareilles' and 'surfines' were richer in flavonols than 'fines' and 'gruesas'. Of the six investigated growth stages, 'nonpareilles' accumulated the greatest amounts of bioactive compounds that correlated with antioxidant and anti-diabetic properties, and were more potent BuChE than AChE inhibitors.
