Exploração sexual infanto-juvenil: crianças órfãs de direitos / Sexual exploration of children and youngsters

O presente estudo aborda os temas exploração sexual infanto-juvenil e prostituição infantil. O objetivo deste estudo foi o de identificar as causas predisponentes a prostituição; o envolvimento e o consumo de drogas; avaliar os conhecimentos sobre doenças sexualmente transmissíveis, contracepção e gravidez; além de avaliar as expectativas em relação ao futuro. Para que estes objetivos fossem atingidos, foi primeiramente realizado um levantamento bibliográfico a fim de direcionar a pesquisa sobre o tema proposto, conhecendo-se assim, a realidade no Brasil e no mundo. Em seguida foi realizada uma Pesquisa Social com dezessete meninas residentes na Instituição Casa das Meninas Madre Antônia mantida pela Prefeitura Municipal de Curitiba, onde são disponibilizados alojamento, alimentação, vestuário e educação. A pesquisa foi realizada através de entrevistas semi-estruturadas que abordavam os temas propostos. Como resultados, encontrou-se que o uso de drogas foi o maior fator predisponente para a prostituição; que as drogas mais consumidas foram o crack e a maconha; que os conhecimentos sobre as doenças sexualmente transmissíveis eram satisfatórios e apesar de todas as mazelas sofridas, as meninas mantinham a expectativa de continuar estudando e conseguir bons empregos, além de constituir uma família estável

The present study is an approach of the sexual exploitation of children and youngsters and child prostitution. The goal of this study was to identify the causes that lead to prostitution and the important role of drug consumption. It was also meant to assess the knowledge about sexual transmitted diseases, contraception and pregnancy; besides evaluating the expectations concerning the future. In order to achieve these goals, a bibliographic review was held to guide the research about the present subject, gathering information about the reality in Brazil and over the world. Subsequently, a social reasearch took place within a group of seventeen girls living in an Institution called Casa das Meninas Madre Antônia, which is supported by the City Hall of Curitiba and where they have access to housing, food, clothing and education. The research was based on interviews that were related to the subject. The results of the findings were that the use of drugs was the major factor leading to prostitution; that the most consumed drugs were crack and marijuana; that the knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases was satisfactory and, in spite of all the problems these children have been through, they keep the expectation of continuing to study and getting a good job, besides building a stable family

Violência e medo permeando a exploração sexual de crianças e adolescentes / Violence and fear permeating children's and teenagers' sexual exploitation

Pesquisa realizada pelo Programa Pólos de Cidadania, Faculdade de Direito/UFMG, em 2004, detectou a exploração sexual infanto-juvenil como um dos principais problemas de violação dos direitos humanos na região do Médio Vale do Jequitinhonha, Minas Gerais. Nos dois anos seguintes, no intuito de prevenir a exploração sexual por meio da geração de trabalho e renda, o Programa Pólos realizou um projeto amplo de pesquisa-ação na região. Esse trabalho continua sob os auspícios da Secretaria Especial de Direitos Humanos da Presidência da República. O presente artigo retoma algumas informações coletadas durante os trabalhos de campo, especialmente as entrevistas realizadas com crianças e adolescentes da região. O objetivo é o de analisar a alta incidência da violência na região e sua relação com a exploração sexual infanto-juvenil. Violência e medo são categorias recorrentes nos discursos analisados. A exploração sexual, violência sobre o corpo, é uma das suas manifestações.

In 2004, a research work carried out by the Programa Pólos de Cidadania (Citizenship Focus Program) of the Law School of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais - UFMG detected the commercial sexual exploitation of children and teenagers as one of the main problems of human rights violation in the Medium Jequitinhonha Valley (State of Minas Gerais, Brazil). In the following two years, aiming to prevent sexual exploitation by creating work and income, the Citizenship Focus Program developed a broad research-action project in the region.This work goes on sponsored by the Human Rights Special Secretary of the Brazilian Presidency.The article revisits data collected in the field work, especially interviews with children and teenagers in the region. It aims to analyze the persistence of violence and fear in the region, and their relation with children’s and teenagers’ sexual exploitation. Violence and fear are recurrent categories in the analyzed discourses. Sexual exploitation, a form of physical violence, is one of their manifestations.
