What do hematologists and oncologists consider necessary for their career? Results of an online survey in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to find out more about factors that hinder physicians' careers, especially with regard to gender differences, and which future working conditions they would prefer. METHODS: In an online survey, members of the professional societies of Hematology and Oncology in Germany, Austria and Switzerland were asked to rate factors that might hinder or facilitate their professional career. Data analysis included χ2-tests, t tests and analyses of variance. RESULTS: 469 physicians participated (61% female, response rate 9.1%). 40% of the participants experience a lack of compatibility between family life and career. Female physicians with children living in their household especially feel restricted in their professional development. The most preferred conditions for improving compatibility were flexible working hours (72%), opportunities to work in home office (71%), better opportunities for specialist training (51%) and enabling managerial activities on a part-time basis (73%). Both female and male physicians would like fathers to be encouraged to take parental leave to the same extent as mothers (50%). They would, e.g., like to see more flexible drop-off and pickup times for children (71%) and more childcare options offered by their employer (61%). CONCLUSION: Results suggest various options for promoting compatibility of family life and work, e.g., by family-friendly working time models and part-time offers breaking with traditional role models. Managerial positions might be offered on a regular part-time basis. Structured qualification programs could enable the compatibility of clinical work, research and family life. Childcare services should preferably be provided in line with existing needs.

A katábasis de C. G. Jung: dos mitos antigos às experiências visionárias modernas / C. G. Jung's katabasis: from ancient myths to modern visionary experiences / La catábasis de C. G. Jung: de los mitos antiguos a las experiencias visionarias modernas

Este artigo buscou revisitar as experiências de katábasis de C.G. Jung, ou, em outras palavras, as experiências de descida ao submundo, ou mundo dos mortos, seguidas pelo retorno ao mundo dos vivos, a anábasis. Em termos psicológicos, essas experiências significam o confronto com o inconsciente e a subsequente ampliação da consciência. Para revisitar as experiências de katábasis de C.G. Jung, resgatou-se, historicamente, a katábasis (1) na antiguidade clássica através da mitologia grega, (2) no período medieval e moderno, por meio das obras de Dante Alighieri, Emmanuel Swedenborg e William Blake, e (3) finalmente, na própria vida de Jung, com ênfase na constituição de O Livro Vermelho. As experiências de katábasis foram de vital importância para Jung e culminaram na gênese da psicologia analítica. ■

This article aimed to revisit C.G. Jung experiences of katabasis, or in other words the experiences of descending to the underworld, or world of the dead, followed by the return to the world of the living, the anabasis. In psychological terms, these experiences mean confronting the unconscious and the subsequent expansion of consciousness. To revisit C.G. Jung's experiences of katabasis, it was rescued historically (1) in classical antiquity through greek mythology, (2) in the medieval and modern period, through the works of Dante Alighieri, Emmanuel Swedenborg and William Blake, and (3) finally in Jung's own life with an emphasis on the constitution of The Red Book. The katabasis experiences were of vital importance to Jung and culminated in the genesis of analytical psychology. ■

Jung, o, en otras palabras, las experiencias de descender al inframundo, el mundo de los muertos, seguido por el retorno al mundo de los vivos, la anábasis. En términos psicológicos, estas experiencias suponen la confrontación con el inconsciente y la posterior expansión de la conciencia. Para volver a examinar las experiencias de catábasis de C.G. Jung, fue rescatada, históricamente, la catábasis (1) en la antigüedad clásica a través de la mitología griega, (2) en el período medieval y moderno, a través de las obras de Dante Alighieri, Emmanuel Swedenborg y William Blake, y (3) finalmente, en la propia vida de Jung, con énfasis en la constitución del Libro Rojo. Os lugares do diferente no trabalho contemporâneo: trajetórias de pessoas LGBTs / The places of the different in contemporary work: work trajectories of LGBT people

O artigo analisa as vivências de um grupo de trabalhadores LGBTs que visivelmente destoam dos padrões heteronormativos, para compreender as suas percepções sobre o mercado de trabalho, as formas definidas para lidar com as adversidades e os significados que atribuem ao trabalho. A sociedade contemporânea, hegemonicamente heteronormativa, conservadora e neoliberal, marginaliza as pessoas LGBTs nos diversos âmbitos da vida social, especialmente no trabalho. As identidades sexuais e de gênero são construções históricas, culturais e performativas que as transformações políticas e econômicas procuram negar ao reafirmarem a existência de uma matriz heterossexual que regula as sexualidades e a constituição dos sujeitos considerados aptos para o mundo do trabalho. Porém, para o grupo entrevistado, trabalhar, além de garantir a reprodução social, é tanto viver constrangimentos, sofrimentos e preconceitos quanto, por meio da luta cotidiana, aprender a superar barreiras, autoafirmar identidades e expressões de gênero, experimentar o reconhecimento e o exercício da cidadania, o que significa um esforço adicional pela sobrevivência.

This paper analyzes the experiences of a group of LGBT workers who visibly do not comply with heteronormative standards, in order to understand their perceptions about the labor market, the ways they use to deal with adversities and the meanings they attribute to work. In contemporary society, which is hegemonically heteronormative, conservative and neoliberal, LGBT people are marginalized in different areas of social life, especially at work. Sexual and gender identities are understood as historical, cultural and performance constructs that political and economic transformations have tried to deny by reaffirming the existence of a heterosexual matrix that regulates sexualities and the constitution of subjects considered apt for the job. However, for the interviewed group, working, in addition to guaranteeing social reproduction, means both experiencing constraints, suffering and prejudices and, through daily struggle, learning to overcome barriers, self-affirming identities and expressions of gender, experiencing the recognition and the exercise of citizenship, which translates to an additional effort for survival.

Trabalho em saúde: biomedicalização de quem cuida / Health work: biomedicalizaon of caregivers

Objetivo: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo qualitativo, resultado de uma dissertação de mestrado que objetivou compreender sob quais aspectos a biomedicalização insere-se na vida dos trabalhadores da saúde. Método: Utilizou-se o dispositivo da 'Tenda do Conto' e foram seguidos os pressupostos metodológicos da exploração da multiplicidade de fontes. Sujeitos da pesquisa eram Técnicas de Enfermagem. Resultados: Os resultados sugerem que o uso de medicações psicotrópicas está vinculado à sobrecarga encontrada nos constitutivos da vida e no cotidiano do mundo do trabalho, sem que as trabalhadoras consigam criar outras possibilidades para os seus modos de andar a vida e encarar o sofrer como biopotência, pois antes de tudo é simbolizado como adoecimento. Conclusões: Espera-se que os serviços de apoio à saúde do trabalhador organizem-se de modo a pautar-se por processos que tomem isso como central, para a criação de novos dispositivos tecnológicos do cuidar, saindo da vitimização para o agir-produção-de-mais-vida. Objective: This is a qualitative descriptive study, the result of a master's thesis that aimed to understand about what aspects biomedicalization is inserted in the life of health workers. Method: The 'Tend of the Story ' device was used and the methodological assumptions of exploring the multiplicity of sources were followed. Subjects of the research were Nursing Techniques. Results: The results suggest that the use of psychotropic medications is linked to the overload found in the constituents of life and daily life in the world of work, without the workers being able to create other possibilities for their way of life and to face suffering as a biopower, because it is first symbolized as an illness. Conclusions: It is hoped that the services to support worker health will be organized with processes that take this as central, to the creation of new technological devices of care, from victimization to action-production- of-life. Health and safety matters! Associations between organizational practices and personal support workers' life and work stress in Ontario, Canada.

BACKGROUND: The home and community care sector is one of the fastest growing sectors globally and most prominently in mature industrialized countries. Personal support workers (PSWs) are the largest occupational group in the sector. This paper focuses on the emotional health of PSWs working in the home and community care sector in Ontario, Canada. The purpose of this paper is to present evidence on the associations between PSWs' life and work stress and organizational practices of full-time and guaranteed hours, and PSWs' perceptions of support at work and preference for hours. METHODS: Data come from our 2015 survey of 1543 PSWs. Dependent variables are life and work stress. Independent variables are: objective organizational practices of full-time and guaranteed hours, and subjective organizational practices of perceived support at work, and preferred hours of work. Descriptive statistics, correlations and ordinary least square regression analyses with collinearity tests are conducted. RESULTS: Organizational practices of employing PSWs in full-time or guaranteed hours are not associated with their life and work stress. However, those who perceive support from their organizations are also the ones reporting lower life and work stress. In addition, those PSWs perceiving support from their supervisor report lower work stress. PSWs would like to work in their preferred hours, and those who prefer to work more hours report lower life and work stress, and conversely, those who prefer to work less hours report life and work stress. CONCLUSION: For PSWs in home and community care, perceived support from their organizations and supervisors, and employment in preferred hours are important factors related to their life and work stress.

Seguir los pasos de Orlando Fals Borda: Religión, Musica, Mundos de la vida y carnaval

En un tono narrativo, el autor, quien es un veterano sociólogo perteneciente a la segunda generación, sigue su propia trayectoria en la rememoración del fundador de la sociología colombiana, desde cuando era aún un infante y cuando Orlando regresara de los Estados Unidos como un Bachelor of Arts. Músico según era, Orlando compuso entonces una canción por la paz de Colombia, un deseo común en especial para todos los científicos sociales que apenas se vislumbra como horizonte probable a cerca de ocho años luego de la muerte del fundador de la sociología. Tras la semblanza del gran maestro, centrada en el arquetipo del chivo expiatorio, el autor presenta más de siete nuevos argumentos para demostrar la relevancia universal de la obra del pionero: una inédita valoración de la Wertbeziehung u orientación valorativa de Orlando como miembro de la rama calvinista del protestantismo, empero, en su caso volcado a encontrar índices de salvación ya no en oro o poder, como sostenía Weber, sino en el pueblo, casi como si se tratara de una paráfrasis del lema del filósofo Espinoza: Deus, sive populus (Dios, esto es el pueblo); el carnaval como una inspiración epistemológica; talento musical y escucha profunda a las voces del pueblo; talento inusual para el análisis dentro de una teoría integrada; sólida preferencia por los mundos de la vida; épica de no violencia y de disidanza (disidencia con danza); una inusual sensibilidad por la equidad y el equilibrio de género, cuya génesis es explicada por la formación vital en la familia de Orlando.

In a narrative mood, the author, a sénior sociologist of the secondgeneration, follows his proper path in the remembrance of the founder of the colombian sociology, Orlando Fals Borda, a path which has been imprinted by the long sequence of violences since the 9th of april of 1948, when he was a child and when Orlando returned as a young bachellor of arts to the country. Also musician, Orlando composed then a song for the peace of Colombia, a common desire specially for all the social scientists only now approching in a new horizon, at eigth years of the foundefdeath. After that recollection of the figure of the great master, centered in the archetype of the scapegoat, the author present more than seven new arguments to demostrate the universal relevance of the work of the pioneer: a new aproach to the concept of senti-pensamiento; a inedit valuation of his Wertbezieung (reference to values) as a member of the calvinistic branch of protestantism, nothwithstanding turning to the signs of the people as Índices of predestination, almos fast in the mood of a paraphrasis of a motto of Espinoza: Deus, sive populus, God, that means the people; carnival as a epistemologhical inspiration; musical talent and deep listening to people's voices; a gift for analysis in a synthetic and integrated theory; sound preference for the worlds of life; an ephic of non-violence and disidanza; an inusual sensitivity to gender equity and gender balance, whose genesis is here explained in the vital formation in his family.
