Introdução: O conhecimento da magnitude em que a população implementa medidas de proteção emitidas pelas autoridades de saúde pública é essencial na prevenção da doença do novo coronavírus (COVID-19). A eficácia de medidas não farmacológicas de prevenção e das políticas públicas destinadas a reduzir o contágio pela COVID-19 depende de quão bem os indivíduos são informados sobre as consequências da infecção e as medidas que devem adotar para reduzir sua propagação. O entendimento, as atitudes e as práticas das pessoas em relação à COVID-19 e sua prevenção são basilares para a compreensão da dinâmica epidemiológica, demandando a realização de pesquisas sobre o cumprimento de medidas não farmacológicas de prevenção do contágio em diversos territórios. Para isso, em 2020, medidas não farmacológicas contra a COVID-19 foram divulgadas por fontes diversas, estatais e privadas, para a maior parte da população brasileira, com a finalidade de orientar comportamentos para conter a crise sanitária. As equipes da Estratégia Saúde da Família têm um papel fundamental neste processo de educação em saúde, pois compreendem elementos socioculturais das suas comunidades, alcançando-as tanto em capilaridade quanto em adequação local da informação técnico-científica. Este artigo abrange uma pesquisa de campo, parte de um projeto multicêntrico nacional. Objetivo: Avaliar se a população do território de uma unidade da Estratégia Saúde da Família da cidade de Condado-PE entende e aplica as informações que recebeu sobre medidas não farmacológicas de prevenção em suas práticas de proteção contra a COVID-19. Mais especificamente, a pesquisa visou determinar que informações foram recebidas pelos respondentes, quais as suas fontes, o grau de confiabilidade atribuído a estas, além da adesão deles às medidas não farmacológicas e sua relação com variáveis sociodemográficas. Métodos: O modelo do estudo foi observacional e descritivo, com abordagem quantitativa, a partir da coleta de dados primários com 70 usuários por entrevista presencial com questionário estruturado. Resultados: Os resultados mostraram que a população recebeu vasta informação sobre prevenção da doença. Conclusão: Com níveis variados de confiabilidade das fontes, atribuindo importância relevante às medidas de prevenção e adotou a maioria delas, com exceção do isolamento social total.


Introduction: Knowledge of the magnitude to which the population implements protective measures issued by public health authorities is essential in preventing coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The effectiveness of non-pharmacological prevention measures (NPM) and public policies aimed at reducing the spread of COVID-19 depends on how well individuals are informed about the consequences of the infection and the measures they must adopt to reduce its spread. The understanding, attitudes, and practices of people in relation to COVID-19 and its prevention are fundamental for understanding the epidemiological dynamics, demanding research on compliance with NPM to prevent contagion in different territories. To this end, in 2020, NPM against COVID-19 were released by various sources, state and private, for most of the Brazilian population, with the aim of guiding behaviors to contain the health crisis. The Family Health Strategy (FHS) teams play a key role in this health education process, as they comprise sociocultural elements of their communities, reaching them both in capillarity and in local adequacy of technical-scientific information. This article covers field research, part of a national multicenter project. Objective: To evaluate whether the population of the territory of an FHS unit in the city of Condado, Pernambuco, understands and applies the information it received about NPM prevention in their practices to protect against COVID-19. More specifically, the research aimed to determine what information was received by the respondents, what are their sources, the degree of reliability attributed to these, in addition to their adherence to the NPM and their relationship with sociodemographic variables. Methods: The study model was observational and descriptive, with a quantitative approach, based on the collection of primary data with 70 users through face-to-face interviews with a structured questionnaire. Results: The results showed that the population received extensive information on disease prevention. Conclusion: With varying levels of reliability of the sources, attributing relevant importance to prevention measures and adopted most of them, with the exception of total social isolation.


El conocimiento de la magnitud con la que la población implementa las medidas de protección emitidas por las autoridades de salud pública es fundamental en la prevención de la enfermedad por coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). La efectividad de las medidas de prevención no farmacológicas (MFN) y de las políticas públicas dirigidas a reducir la propagación de la COVID-19 depende de qué tan bien se informe a las personas sobre las consecuencias de la infección y las medidas que deben adoptar para reducir su propagación. La comprensión, actitudes y prácticas de las personas con relación al COVID-19 y su prevención son fundamentales para comprender la dinámica epidemiológica, exigiendo investigaciones sobre el cumplimiento de las MNF para prevenir el contagio en diferentes territorios. Con ese fin, en 2020, MNF contra el COVID-19 fueron divulgados por diversas fuentes, estatales y privadas, para la mayoría de la población brasileña, con el objetivo de orientar comportamientos para contener la crisis sanitaria. Los equipos de la Estrategia de Salud de la Familia (ESF) juegan un papel fundamental en este proceso de educación en salud, ya que integran elementos socioculturales de sus comunidades, alcanzándolas tanto en la capilaridad como en la adecuación local de la información técnico-científica. Este artículo aborda una investigación de campo, parte de un proyecto multicéntrico nacional, con el objetivo de evaluar si la población del territorio de una unidad de la ESF en la ciudad de Condado-PE comprende y aplica la información recibida sobre la prevención de MNF en sus prácticas de protección contra el COVID -19. Más específicamente, la investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar qué información recibieron los encuestados, cuáles son sus fuentes, el grado de confiabilidad atribuido a estas, además de su adherencia al MNF y su relación con variables sociodemográficas. El modelo de estudio fue observacional y descriptivo, con enfoque cuantitativo, basado en la recolección de datos primarios con 70 usuarios a través de entrevistas cara a cara con un cuestionario estructurado. Los resultados mostraron que la población recibió amplia información sobre prevención de la enfermedad, con diversos niveles de confiabilidad de las fuentes, atribuyendo importancia relevante a las medidas de prevención y adoptando la mayoría de ellas, con excepción del aislamiento social total.

El programa de Instrucción de la Autorregulación Cognitiva (CSRI) se basa en la instrucción centrada en la estrategia e incluye tres componentes para la mejora del producto textual (enseñanza directa, modelado y práctica entre iguales). Se plantearon como objetivosanalizar si la instrucción con el programa CSRI en un género textual (texto de comparación) conducía a la transferencia espontánea en el producto textual (mejor coherencia, estructura y calidad) en un género no instruido (texto de opinión); y examinar si el orden de los componentes instruccionales presentaba algún efecto. Participaron 126 estudiantes de cuarto de educación primaria que fueron asignados a una de las dos condiciones experimentales en las que se aplicaba el programa CSRI (con diferente secuencia de los componentes instructivos), o a una condición de control en la que se seguía la enseñanza tradicional. Los resultados reflejaron que las dos secuencias de instrucción del programa CSRI mostraban beneficios en la estructura y coherencia del producto textual de los estudiantes en el posttest pero no 8 meses después. Para que los alumnos sean capaces de transferir adecuadamente lo aprendido a géneros textuales no instruidos, necesitan que los profesores les enseñen cómo hacerlo eficazmente.(AU)


Cognitive Self-Regulation Instruction (CSRI) program is a strategy-focused instruction with three instructional components for im-proving students’ writing product (direct teaching, modelling, and peer-practice). The present study aimed to explore whether the CSRI program leads to spontaneous transfer, improving the writing product (in terms of quality, structure, and text coherence) of an uninstructed genre (opinion text); and to examine whether the order in which the instructional compo-nents were implemented had an effect. A total of 126 students in their 4thyear of primary school participated in the study. They were randomly as-signed to one of two experimental conditions which received the CSRI but differed in the order the instructional components were delivered, or to a control condition which followed the traditional teaching approach. Our findings show that both CSRI sequences produced benefits in terms of greater structure and coherence of the writing product in the opinion text at post-test but not 8months after the intervention. In consequence, for students to be able to adequately transfer strategies to uninstructed text genres, they need teachers to teach them how to do it effectively.(AU)

BACKGROUND: Rapid and sensitive detection for acetamiprid, a kind of widely used neonicotinoid insecticide, is very meaningful for the development of modern agriculture and the protection of human health. Highly stable electrochemiluminescence (ECL) materials are one of the key factors in ECL sensing technology. ECL materials prepared by porous materials (e.g., MOFs) coated with chromophores have been used for ECL sensing detection, but these materials have poor stability because the chromophores escape when they are in aqueous solution. Therefore, the development of highly stable ECL materials is of great significance to improve the sensitivity of ECL sensing technology. RESULTS: In this work, by combining etched metal-organic frameworks (E-UIO-66-NH2) as carrier with Tris(4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-2,2'-bipyridine)Ru(II) chloride (Ru(dcbpy)32+) as signal probe via amide bonds, highly stable nanocomposites (E-UIO-66-NH2-Ru) with excellent ECL performance were firstly prepared. Then, using MoS2 loaded with AuNPs as substrate material and co-reactant promoter, a signal off-on-off ECL aptamer sensor was prepared for sensitive detection of acetamiprid. Due to the excellent catalytic activity of E-UIO-66-NH2-Ru and MoS2@Au towards K2S2O8, the ECL signals can be enhanced by multiple signal enhancement pathways, the prepared ECL aptamer sensor could achieve sensitive detection of acetamiprid in the linear range of 10-13 to10-7 mol L-1, with the limit of detection (LOD) of 2.78ⅹ10-15 mol L-1 (S/N = 3). After the evaluation of actual sample testing, this sensing platform was proven to be an effective method for the detection of acetamiprid in food and agricultural products. SIGNIFICANCE AND NOVELTY: The E-UIO-66-NH2-Ru prepared by linking Ru(dcbpy)32+ to E-UIO-66-NH2 via amide bonding has very high stability. The synergistic catalytic effect of MoS2 and AuNPs enhanced the ECL signal. By exploring the sensing mechanism and evaluating the actual sample tests, the proposed signal "on-off" ECL sensing strategy was proved to be an effective and excellent ECL sensing method for sensitive and stable detection of acetamiprid.

Primary, glioblastoma, and secondary brain tumors, from metastases outside the brain, are among the most aggressive and therapeutically resistant cancers. A physiological barrier protecting the brain, the blood-brain barrier (BBB), functions as a deterrent to effective therapies. To enhance cancer therapy, we developed a cancer terminator virus (CTV), a unique tropism-modified adenovirus consisting of serotype 3 fiber knob on an otherwise Ad5 capsid that replicates in a cancer-selective manner and simultaneously produces a potent therapeutic cytokine, melanoma differentiation-associated gene-7/interleukin-24 (MDA-7/IL-24). A limitation of the CTV and most other viruses, including adenoviruses, is an inability to deliver systemically to treat brain tumors because of the BBB, nonspecific virus trapping, and immune clearance. These obstacles to effective viral therapy of brain cancer have now been overcome using focused ultrasound with a dual microbubble treatment, the focused ultrasound-double microbubble (FUS-DMB) approach. Proof-of-principle is now provided indicating that the BBB can be safely and transiently opened, and the CTV can then be administered in a second set of complement-treated microbubbles and released in the brain using focused ultrasound. Moreover, the FUS-DMB can be used to deliver the CTV multiple times in animals with glioblastoma  growing in their brain thereby resulting in a further enhancement in survival. This strategy permits efficient therapy of primary and secondary brain tumors enhancing animal survival without promoting harmful toxic or behavioral side effects. Additionally, when combined with a standard of care therapy, Temozolomide, a further increase in survival is achieved. The FUS-DMB approach with the CTV highlights a noninvasive strategy to treat brain cancers without surgery. This innovative delivery scheme combined with the therapeutic efficacy of the CTV provides a novel potential translational therapeutic approach for brain cancers.

Infectious diseases pose a serious threat and a substantial economic burden on global human and public health security, especially with the frequent emergence of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria in clinical settings. In response to this urgent need, various photobased anti-infectious therapies have been reported lately. This Review explores and discusses several photochemical targeted antibacterial therapeutic strategies for addressing bacterial infections regardless of their antibiotic susceptibility. In contrast to conventional photobased therapies, these approaches facilitate precise targeting of pathogenic bacteria and/or infectious microenvironments, effectively minimizing toxicity to mammalian cells and surrounding healthy tissues. The highlighted therapies include photodynamic therapy, photocatalytic therapy, photothermal therapy, endogenous pigments-based photobleaching therapy, and polyphenols-based photo-oxidation therapy. This comprehensive exploration aims to offer updated information to facilitate the development of effective, convenient, safe, and alternative strategies to counter the growing threat of MDR bacteria in the future.

OBJECTIVE: In the specific use of electromyogram (EMG) driven prosthetics, the user's disability reduces the space available for the electrode array. We propose a framework for EMG decomposition adapted to the condition of a few channels (less than 30 observations), which can elevate the potential of prosthetics in terms of cost and applicability. APPROACH: The new framework contains a peel-off approach, a refining strategy for motor unit spike train (MUST) and motor unit action potential (MUAP) and a re-subtracting strategy to adapt the framework to few channels environments. Simulated EMG signals were generated to test the framework. In addition, we quantify and analyze the effect of strategies used in the framework. MAIN RESULTS: The results show that the new algorithm has an average improvement of 19.97% in the number of motor units (MUs) identified compared to the control algorithm. Quantitative analysis of the usage strategies shows that the re-subtracting and refining strategies can effectively improve the performance of the framework under the condition of few channels. SIGNIFICANCE: These prove that the new framework can be applied to few channel conditions, providing a optimization space for neural interface design in cost and user adaptation.

INTRODUCTION: Emerging antibiotic resistance among bacterial pathogens has forced an urgent need for alternative non-antibiotic strategies development that could combat drug resistant-associated infections. Suppression of virulence of ESKAPE pathogens' by targeting multiple virulence traits provides a promising approach. OBJECTIVES: Here we propose an iron-blocking antibacterial therapy based on a cationic heme-mimetic gallium porphyrin (GaCHP), which antibacterial efficacy could be further enhanced by photodynamic inactivation. METHODS: We used gallium heme mimetic porphyrin (GaCHP) excited with light to significantly reduce microbial viability and suppress both the expression and biological activity of several virulence traits of both Gram-positive and Gram-negative ESKAPE representatives, i.e., S. aureus and P. aeruginosa. Moreover, further improvement of the proposed strategy by combining it with routinely used antimicrobials to resensitize the microbes to antibiotics and provide enhanced bactericidal efficacy was investigated. RESULTS: The proposed strategy led to substantial inactivation of critical priority pathogens and has been evidenced to suppress the expression and biological activity of multiple virulence factors in S. aureus and P. aeruginosa. Finally, the combination of GaCHP phototreatment and antibiotics resulted in promising strategy to overcome antibiotic resistance of the studied microbes and to enhance disinfection of drug resistant pathogens. CONCLUSION: Lastly, considering high safety aspects of the proposed treatment toward host cells, i.e., lack of mutagenicity, no dark toxicity and mild phototoxicity, we describe an efficient alternative that simultaneously suppresses the functionality of multiple virulence factors in ESKAPE pathogens.

INTRODUCTION: Previously reported preparation methods of Ginkgo biloba leaf extract (EGBL) have mainly focused on the enrichment of flavonoid glycosides (FG) and terpene trilactones (TT), which led to the underutilization of G. biloba leaves (GBL). OBJECTIVES: To make full use of GBL, in this study, a comprehensive optimization strategy for preparing EGBL by macroporous resin column chromatography was proposed and applied to enrich FG, TT, and shikimic acid (SA) from GBL. METHODOLOGY: Initially, the static adsorption and desorption were executed to select suitable resin. Then, the influences of solution pH were investigated by the static and dynamic adsorption. Subsequently, eight process parameters were systematically investigated via a definitive screening design (DSD). After verification experiments, scale-up enrichment was carried out, investigating the feasibility of the developed strategy for application on an industrial scale. RESULTS: It was found that XDA1 was the most appropriate adsorbent for the preparation of EGBL at solution pH 2.0. Furthermore, based on the constraints of the desired quality attributes, the optimized ranges of operating parameters were successfully acquired, and the verification experiments demonstrated the accuracy and reliability of using DSD to investigate the chromatography process for the preparation of EGBL. Finally, magnified experiments were successfully performed, obtaining the EGBL containing 26.54% FG, 8.96% TT, and 10.70% SA, which reached the SA level of EGB761, an international standard EGBL. CONCLUSION: The present study not only provided an efficient and convenient approach for the preparation of EGBL enriched in SA but also accelerated efforts to high-value utilization of GBL.

Older adults, as well as those with certain neurological disorders, may compensate for poor neural control of postural stability by widening their base of foot support while walking. However, the extent to which this wide-based gait improves postural stability or affects postural control strategies has not been explored. People with idiopathic Parkinson's disease (iPD, n = 72), frontal gait disorders (FGD, n = 16), and healthy older adults (n = 32) performed walking trials at their preferred speed over an 8-m-long, instrumented walkway. People with iPD were tested in their OFF medication state. Analyses of covariance were performed to determine the associations between stride width and measures of lateral stability control. People with FGD exhibited a wide-based gait compared to both healthy older adults and iPD. An increased stride width was associated with an increase in lateral margin of stability in FGD. Unlike healthy older adults or iPD, people with FGD did not externally rotate their feet (toe-out angle) or shift their center of pressure laterally to aid lateral dynamic stability during walking but slowed their gait instead to increase stability. By adopting a slow, wide-based gait, people with FGD take advantage of the passive, pendular mechanics of walking.

Surgical indications for patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and congenital heart defects are controversial. The treat and repair strategy has demonstrated efficacy in adult populations, but there have been no studies on pediatric patients. This study included pediatric patients with PAH and simple congenital heart defects who underwent corrective repair between 2012 and 2021. According to the preoperative treatment strategies, the patients were divided into a regular strategy group (Group 1) and a treat-and-repair strategy group (Group 2). Postoperative recovery and follow-up results were compared between the two groups. A total of 33 patients were included in this study. Group 1 consisted of 19 patients, whereas Group 2 consisted of 14 patients. The pulmonary vascular resistance index in Group 2 was higher than that in Group 1 (10.9 ± 4.1 vs. 8.2 ± 1.6 WU, p = 0.031). There were no differences in postoperative recovery between the two groups (p > 0.05). During follow-up, five patients were lost (three in Group 1 and two in Group 2). The median follow-up period was 59 months. One patient died in Group 1, and two patients died in Group 2. There was no significant difference in the survival curve (p = 0.39). At the last follow-up, another seven patients had experienced a non-low-risk condition, with a total of three non-low-risk patients in Group 1 and seven in Group 2, including one patient in each group who had a history of ICU admission. According to the ROC curve, a preoperative PVRi <8.2 WU×m2 can predict postoperative persistent low-risk state, PVRi <5.2 WU×m2 can avoid postoperative death and/or ICU administration. In pediatric patients with PAH and simple congenital heart defects, the treat and repair strategies may provide surgery opportunities, PVRi should be <8 WU×m2, and <5.2 WU×m2 is the best choice.

BACKGROUND: The prognosis of patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and previous percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is uncertain. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate if previous PCI in patients with STEMI increases the risk of major cardiovascular events, and if final epicardial blood flow differs according to the reperfusion strategy. MATERIAL AND METHODS: Observational, longitudinal, comparative sub-study of the PHASE-MX trial that included patients with STEMI and reperfusion within 12 hours of symptom onset, who were classified according to their history of PCI. The occurrence of the composite primary endpoint (cardiovascular death, re-infarction, congestive heart failure and cardiogenic shock) within 30 days was evaluated using Kaplan-Meier estimates, log-rank test and Cox proportional hazards model. Epicardial blood flow was assessed using the TIMI grading system after reperfusion. RESULTS: A total of 935 patients were included; 85.6% were males and 6.9% had a history of PCI; 53% underwent pharmacoinvasive therapy, and 47%, primary PCI. The incidence of the composite primary endpoint at 30 days in patients with a history of PCI was 9.8% vs 13.3% in those with no previous PCI (p = 0.06). Among the patients with previous PCI, 87.1% reached a final TIMI grade 3 flow after primary PCI vs. 75% in the group with pharmacoinvasive strategy (p = 0.235). CONCLUSIONS: A history of PCI does not increase the risk of major cardiovascular events at 30 days; however, it impacted negatively on the final angiographic blood flow of patients that received pharmacoinvasive therapy (compared to primary PCI).


ANTECEDENTES: El pronóstico de los pacientes con infarto agudo de miocardio con elevación del segmento ST (IAMCEST) y antecedente de intervención coronaria percutánea (ICP) es incierto. Objetivos: Evaluar si la ICP previa en pacientes con IAMCEST incrementa el riesgo de eventos cardiovasculares mayores y si el flujo final epicárdico varía según la estrategia de reperfusión. MATERIAL Y MÉTODOS: Subestudio de PHASE-MX, observacional, longitudinal y comparativo, de pacientes con IAMCEST reperfundidos en menos de 12 horas de iniciados los síntomas, divididos conforme el antecedente de ICP. El acaecimiento del criterio de valoración principal (muerte cardiovascular, reinfarto, insuficiencia cardíaca y choque cardiogénico) dentro de los 30 días se comparó con estimaciones de Kaplan-Meier, prueba de rangos logarítmicos y modelo de riesgos proporcionales de Cox. El flujo epicárdico final se evaluó con el sistema de clasificación del flujo TIMI después de la reperfusión. RESULTADOS: Se incluyeron 935 pacientes, 85.6 % del sexo masculino, 6.9 % de los cuales tenía antecedente de ICP; 53 % recibió terapia farmacoinvasiva y 47 %, ICP primaria. La incidencia del criterio de valoración principal en pacientes con ICP previa fue de 9.8 % versus 13.3 % en aquellos sin ese antecedente (p = 0.06); 87.1 % de los pacientes con ICP previa obtuvo flujo final de grado TIMI 3 versus 75 % del grupo con estrategia farmacoinvasiva (p = 0.235). CONCLUSIONES: El antecedente de ICP no incrementa el riesgo de eventos cardiovasculares mayores a los 30 días en pacientes con IAMCEST; sin embargo, impacta negativamente en el flujo sanguíneo angiográfico final de los pacientes que recibieron terapia farmacoinvasiva (en comparación con ICP primaria).

RESUMO

The number of mitotic cells is an important indicator of grading invasive breast cancer. It is very challenging for pathologists to identify and count mitotic cells in pathological sections with naked eyes under the microscope. Therefore, many computational models for the automatic identification of mitotic cells based on machine learning, especially deep learning, have been proposed. However, converging to the local optimal solution is one of the main problems in model training. In this paper, we proposed a novel multilevel iterative training strategy to address the problem. To evaluate the proposed training strategy, we constructed the mitotic cell classification model with ResNet50 and trained the model with different training strategies. The results showed that the models trained with the proposed training strategy performed better than those trained with the conventional strategy in the independent test set, illustrating the effectiveness of the new training strategy. Furthermore, after training with our proposed strategy, the ResNet50 model with Adam optimizer has achieved 89.26% F1 score on the public MITOSI14 dataset, which is higher than that of the state-of-the-art methods reported in the literature.

Anaesthetics are used daily in human and veterinary medicine as well as in scientific research. Anaesthetics have an impact on cell homeostasis especially through modulation of protein post-translational modifications. O-GlcNAcylation, a ubiquitous post-translational modification, plays a role in many biological processes. The aims of this study were to evaluate whether (1) anaesthesia influences O-GlcNAcylation and (2) its stimulation affects physiological parameters. Male Wistar rats (n = 38) were anaesthetized with ketamine-xylazine or isoflurane. They randomly received either an intravenous injection of Ringer's lactate or NButGT (10mg/kg) in order to increase O-GlcNAcylation levels. One hour after induction of anaesthesia, haemodynamic parameters and plasmatic markers were evaluated. Heart, brain and lungs were harvested and O-GlcNAcylation levels and O-GlcNAc-related enzymes were evaluated by western blot. Cardiac and pulmonary O-GlcNAcylation levels and cardiac, cerebral and pulmonary O-GlcNAc associated enzyme expression were not impacted with anaesthesia. Compared with ketamine-xylazine, isoflurane had a lower impact on blood pressure, heart rate and glycaemia. Pharmacological stimulation of O-GlcNAcylation by NButGT did not affect the physiological parameters. This study offers unprecedented insights into the regulation of O-GlcNAcylation and O-GlcNAc related enzymes during anaesthesia. Pharmacological stimulation of O-GlcNAcylation over a 1-h period did not disrupt the physiological balance in healthy anaesthetized rats.

Acute type A aortic dissection is a severe cardiovascular disease characterized by rapid onset and high mortality. Traditionally, urgent open aortic repair is performed after admission to prevent aortic rupture and death. However, when combined with malperfusion syndrome, the low perfusion of the superior mesenteric artery can further lead to intestinal necrosis, significantly impacting the surgery's prognosis and potentially resulting in adverse consequences, bringing. This presents great significant challenges in treatment. Based on recent domestic and international research literature, this paper reviews the mechanism, current treatment approaches, and selection of surgical methods for poor organ perfusion caused by acute type A aortic dissection. The literature review findings suggest that central aortic repair can be employed for the treatment of acute type A aortic dissection with inadequate perfusion of the superior mesenteric artery. The superior mesenteric artery can be windowed and (/or) stented, followed by delayed aortic repair. Priority should be given to revascularization of the superior mesenteric artery, followed by central aortic repair. During central aortic repair, direct blood perfusion should be performed on the distal true lumen of the superior mesenteric artery, leading to resulting in favorable therapeutic outcomes. The research results indicate that even after surgical aortic repair, intestinal ischemic necrosis may still occur. In such cases, prompt laparotomy and necessary necrotic bowel resection are crucial for saving the patient's life.

What is already known about this topic?: The incidences of vaccine-preventable diseases (VPDs) included in the Expanded Program on Immunization in China have decreased significantly in recent decades. What is added by this report?: This study summarizes the national incidences of nine VPDs and the seroprevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) under different immunization strategies from 1950 through 2021 in China. The sharpest decreases in VPD incidence and under-5-year HBsAg seroprevalence occurred during the latest stage of the National Immunization Program. The decreases in VPD incidence were most prominent among children under five years of age. What are the implications for public health practice?: These findings provide valuable insights for vaccine value assessment and emphasize the importance of implementing immunization strategies in targeted populations.

Balancing of strength programming intensity with sport demands is necessary to avoid excessive workloads that could inhibit performance. To expand previous jump height focused literature, this study evaluated whether countermovement jump (CMJ) movement strategies, including eccentric characteristics, might reveal CMJ execution strategy shifts to achieve similar afternoon CMJ height following a morning resistance training session (RTS). Fifteen collegiate women's soccer and volleyball athletes (18-24 years, 73.6 ± 8.4 kg, 1.74 ± 0.19 m) participating in an offseason RTS completed five CMJs during two afternoon sessions (48 h apart), one 4-6 h post morning RTS, and one on a rest day. The RTS consisted of 2 sets of 10 repetitions at 70-80% 1RM for the back squat, the front squat, and the forward lunge. Vertical ground reaction forces were recorded from which 13 outcome measures describing elements of the eccentric and concentric CMJ phases were computed. No significant differences in jump height (p = 0.427, d = 0.17) or outcome measures (p = 0.091-0.777, d = -0.07-0.21) between sessions with exception of a significant concentric phase time decrease (p = 0.026, d = 0.23) following the RTS were identified. Given the magnitude of the mean concentric phase time change (0.01 s), the result likely has limited practical meaning. As these results confirm previous CMJ height literature, practitioners have further evidence that a morning RTS does not interfere or enhance afternoon CMJ performance in athletic women.

This paper aims to explore the mental health challenges faced by front-line health workers in the early stages of a public health emergency, such as stress, anxiety, and depression. At the same time, the factors that increase their mental stress are analyzed, and practical measures are put forward to prevent and manage mental health problems, aiming at improving the quality of medical treatment during public health emergencies. This paper has some reference value for people engaged in mental health prevention.

This study develops a three-party evolutionary game model among upstream raw material producers, midstream food producers, and downstream distributors in the food supply chain, and investigates food fraud and fraud emulation among companies in the same group based on a food safety social co-governance framework. Moreover, the equilibrium points are divided into four scenarios according to the number of groups of companies committing fraud in the supply chain and whether companies in the same group emulate each other's fraudulent behavior. The stability conditions of these scenarios are also discussed and verified by numerical simulation in MATLAB. The results show that the behavioral strategy choices of different groups of food companies in the supply chain are closely related to the level of social co-governance involving the government, market, and consumers. Government regulation, supervision between companies, and consumer reporting can all change companies' behavioral strategies. Although the level of fraud emulation among companies in the same group does not change their behavioral strategy choice, it affects the time it takes for their behavioral strategy to evolve to a stable state. Moreover, the level of social co-governance directly affects companies' behavioral strategy choices at different emulation levels.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) immunization can prevent cancers, but uptake has been incomplete (and worse with the COVID-19 pandemic). Dental clinicians already screen for oral cancers, many of which are caused by HPV, and could identify vaccination candidates, but this requires a case-finding strategy. Objective: The purpose of this study was (1) to develop and test a case-finding approach to identify patients who were candidates for HPV vaccinations, (2) to test an HPV vaccination intervention by dental professionals on vaccination uptake. Methods: Design: Prospective, non-randomized feasibility case finding study with a 4-week enrollment period and a 6 week follow up period in general dental offices.Setting: Two general and non-commercial dentistry offices in Edmonton, Alberta Canada.Subjects: Consecutive scheduled (non-emergent) patients who met the Health Canada criteria for HPV vaccination: immunocompetent males and females aged 9-45 years and those who are immunocompromised. Consent for the discussion was obtained from each subject or parent.Intervention: Scheduled dental patients meeting the inclusion criteria were flagged by a research assistant who reviewed the appointment schedule each week for 4 weeks. For these subjects, dental clinicians (dentists and dental hygienists) used our Dental Dialogue Tool to discuss HPV vaccination and answer questions. Participating patients who consented to receive the HPV vaccine were given a prescription by the attending dentist and were directed to follow-up with a local pharmacy to have the vaccine administered. Each participant that was provided with an HPV prescription was contacted after 6 weeks to identify if they received the first dose of vaccine.Outcomes: Yield of our case-finding strategy and receipt of a patient's first HPV vaccine dose during 6 weeks post vaccine prescription. Results: Our case-finding strategy assessed 656 scheduled patients over 4 weeks. From this screening,179 (a case-finding yield of 20.4 %), were candidates for HPV vaccine discussion. Forty-three of these 179 patients (24 %) were already vaccinated.. Two patients (1.1 %) did not consent to be spoken with and 134 (74.8 %) consented to the HPV vaccine discussion.. Forty-eight of 134 patients (35.8 %) of patients accepted a prescription from the dentist after speaking with the dental clinician. Ultimately, 8/48 (16 %) (patients received their first dose of the HPV vaccine by the 6 week of follow-up call. However, this is only 4.5 % (8/177) of those patients who did consent for the discussion of HPV cancers and vaccination from their dentist. Conclusion: We demonstrated that case-finding for HPV vaccine candidates in general dental offices was feasible, with a reasonable yield. While the dental dialogue tool was described as a great resource to explain the facts and answer questions, very few patients were vaccinated after 6 weeks of follow-up. Further work is necessary to sharpen the intervention, perhaps including follow-up discussions with the dental clinicians.

Introduction: Malaria is a significant public health concern and tropical disease, particularly affecting Myanmar within the Greater Mekong Subregion. The annual parasite index (API) exceeds 1 per 10,000 population in the northern seven townships of Rakhine State, with Minbya Township designated as a high-burden area for malaria by the World Health Organization (WHO) Myanmar and the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP). Since 2017, the Malaria reduction intensification plan has been in place in this township to combat the high disease transmission rates. This study aims to assess the malaria epidemiology in Minbya Township from 2017 to 2020 under the intensification plan for elimination, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrated strategy in reducing cases in hotspot areas. Methods: The study utilized a surveillance study design to collect secondary data from the Malaria surveillance system (MSS) and the epidemiologic monitoring dashboard of Minbya Township, Maruk-U District, located in Rakhine State. Results: Since 2017, the Malaria prevention and control (P&C) Program in Minbya Township has successfully decreased malaria morbidity, eliminated malaria-related deaths, and bolstered malaria testing capabilities through the participation of village health volunteers (VHVs). Approximately 87% of malaria prevention and control services are executed by the township's malaria elimination and disease control programs, with additional support from stakeholders. The API dropped from 13 in 2017 to 2.5 in 2020, with Plasmodium vivax being the most prevalent malaria species, accounting for 55% of cases. Conclusions: The study suggests that early diagnosis and promotion of artemisinin-based combination treatment (ACT), along with strategic planning including expanding active case detection in rural health centers and implementing a community-based integrated healthcare approach, are effective and efficient strategies for malaria elimination.
