RESUMO

Maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is a disorder of branched-chain amino acid metabolism caused by a defect in the branched-chain α-ketoacid dehydrogenase (BCKD) complex (OMIM #248600). The hallmark presentation is encephalopathic crisis in neonates, but can also present with metabolic decompensation, developmental delays, and feeding difficulties. Biochemical evidence for MSUD includes elevated branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) and the pathognomonic presence of alloisoleucine. The BCKD complex contains several subunits associated with autosomal recessive MSUD, while its regulatory proteins have less well-defined disease associations. We report on two families with the same BCKDK variant (c.1115C>G (p.Thr372Arg)). Probands were detected on newborn screening and demonstrated biochemical evidence of MSUD. The variant was identified in reportedly asymptomatic parents and additional family members who had elevated BCAA and alloisoleucine, following an autosomal dominant pattern of inheritance. To better define the functional effect of the variant on the kinase, we completed molecular modeling using sequence-based (2D), structural-based (3D), and dynamic-based (4D) analyses. The BCKDK variant modeling indicated a gain-of-function which leads to impaired BCAA catabolism consistent with the biochemical evidence in this cohort. Combining the evidence gained from molecular modeling with the absence of metabolic decompensation in our patients and several adult family members, despite encountering stressors typically problematic in classic MSUD, we suggest that heterozygous gain-of-function variants in BCKDK may represent a novel biochemical phenotype of MSUD with a benign clinical course.

INTRODUCTION: Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) is an imaging technique that has advanced over the past few years. It still plays a crucial role in the study of numerous pancreaticobiliary diseases. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of hematinic syrup, date syrup, and pineapple juice on MRCP image quality. METHODOLOGY: This study involved a total of 90 participants, distributed evenly among three groups, with each group comprising 30 patients. Negative oral contrast solutions containing paramagnetic substances like Mn+2 and Fe+3, such as pineapple juice, date syrup, and hematinic syrup were imaged by 1.5 Tesla (T) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with T2-weighted (T2W) and MRCP sequences. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) were computed. Ninety patients underwent MRCP 20-30 min after ingestion of 100 mL of date syrup, 30 ml of hematinic syrup diluted to 200 ml of water, and 200 mL of pineapple juice. MRCP images were taken to visualize various pancreaticobiliary structures (bile duct, stomach, and duodenum). RESULTS: The in vitro evaluation of the solutions showed that date syrup and hematinic syrup were hypointense in T2W sequences. The images obtained showed no significant difference in the CNR between the three solutions. However, the SNR was significantly higher for pineapple juice compared to date syrup and hematinic syrup in T2W and MRCP sequences. Images acquired post-administration of the oral contrast agents significantly improved the gastrointestinal tract signal suppression and increased visibility of the pancreaticobiliary structures (bile duct, stomach, and duodenum). No adverse events were observed among the participants. CONCLUSION: Pineapple juice was the best contrast agent. However, date syrup and hematinic syrup can also be used to improve the imaging quality.

Honey adulteration with exogenous syrup has become a common phenomenon, and current detection techniques that require large instruments are cumbersome and time-consuming. In this study, a simple and efficient method was developed by integrating the rapid extraction of nucleic acids (REMD) and recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA), known as REMD-RPA, for the rapid screening of syrup adulteration in honey. First, a rapid extraction method was developed to rapidly extract corn syrup DNA in five minutes to meet the requirements of PCR and RPA assays. Then, the RPA method for detecting endogenous maize genes (ZssIIb) was established, which could detect 12 copies/µL of the endogenous maize gene within 30 min without cross-reacting with other plant-derived genes. This indicated that the RPA technique exhibited high sensitivity and specificity. Finally, the REMD-RPA detection platform was used to detect different concentrations of corn syrup adulteration, and 1 % adulteration could be detected within 30 min. The 22 commercially available samples were tested to validate the efficacy of this method, and the established RPA was able to detect seven adulterated samples in less than 30 min. Overall, the developed method is rapid, sensitive, and specific, providing technical support for the rapid field detection of honey adulteration and can serve as a reference for developing other field test methods.

Introduction: Cigarettes containing nicotine (Nic) are a risk factor for the development of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. We reported that Nic delivered via injections or e-cigarette vapor led to hepatic steatosis in mice fed with a high-fat diet. High-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is the main sweetener in sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) in the US. Increased consumption of SSBs with HFCS is associated with increased risks of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Nicotinamide riboside (NR) increases mitochondrial nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) and protects mice against hepatic steatosis. This study evaluated if Nic plus Coca-Cola™ (Coke) with HFCS can cause hepatic steatosis and that can be protected by NR. Methods: C57BL/6J mice received twice daily intraperitoneal (IP) injections of Nic or saline and were given Coke (HFCS), or Coke with sugar, and NR supplementation for 10 weeks. Results: Our results show that Nic+Coke caused increased caloric intake and induced hepatic steatosis, and the addition of NR prevented these changes. Western blot analysis showed lipogenesis markers were activated (increased cleavage of the sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1 [SREBP1c] and reduction of phospho-Acetyl-CoA Carboxylase [p-ACC]) in the Nic+Coke compared to the Sal+Water group. The hepatic detrimental effects of Nic+Coke were mediated by decreased NAD+ signaling, increased oxidative stress, and mitochondrial damage. NR reduced oxidative stress and prevented mitochondrial damage by restoring protein levels of Sirtuin1 (Sirt1) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor coactivator 1-alpha (PGC1) signaling. Conclusion: We conclude that Nic+Coke has an additive effect on producing hepatic steatosis, and NR is protective. This study suggests concern for the development of NAFLD in subjects who consume nicotine and drink SSBs with HFCS.

BACKGROUND/AIM: The global prevalence of type 2 diabetes (T2D) continues to increase, necessitating the need for understanding the causes of its development. The widespread use of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS) in drinks and diets is suspected to play a role in metabolic disorders. Although many studies have reported on the effects of excessive HFCS and excessive energy intakes in middle-aged individuals, few have focused on energy restriction. This study aimed to investigate the effects of excessive HFCS drink intake under energy restriction on developing T2D in early middle-aged mice. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Early middle-aged mice were divided in HFCS and control groups; they were provided either 10% HFCS water or deionized water ad libitum for 12 weeks, respectively. Total energy intake was controlled using a standard rodent diet. Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), insulin tolerance test (ITT), tissue weight measurements, serum parameter analyses, and mRNA expression assessments were performed. RESULTS: No increase in body and adipose tissue weight was observed with excessive HFCS intake under energy restriction. Moreover, serum lipid parameters did not differ from those of controls. However, in the OGTT and ITT, the HFCS group showed higher blood glucose levels than the control group. Moreover, the pancreatic weight and insulin II mRNA expression were reduced. CONCLUSION: The excessive HFCS drink intake under energy restriction did not induce obesity; however, it induced impaired glucose tolerance, indicating its negative effects on the pancreas in early middle-aged mice. When translated in human physiology, our results show that even if one does not become obese, excessive HFCS may affect the overall metabolic mechanism; these effects may vary depending on age.

Maple syrup, a popular natural sweetener has a high content of sucrose, whose consumption is linked to different health issues such as obesity and diabetes. Hence, within this paper, the conversion of sucrose to prebiotics (fructo-oligosaccharides, FOS) was proposed as a promising approach to obtaining a healthier, value-added product. Enzymatic conversion was optimized with respect to key experimental factors, and thereafter derived immobilized preparation of fructosyltransferase (FTase) from Pectinex® Ultra SP-L (FTase-epoxy Purolite, 255 IU/g support) was successfully utilized to produce novel functional product in ten consecutive reaction cycles. The product, obtained under optimal conditions (60 °C, 7.65 IU/mL, 12 h), resulted in 56.0% FOS, 16.7% sucrose, and 27.3% monosaccharides of total carbohydrates, leading to a 1.6-fold reduction in caloric content. The obtained products` prebiotic potential toward the probiotic strain Lactobacillus plantarum 299v was demonstrated. The changes in physico-chemical and sensorial characteristics were esteemed as negligible.

This paper develops a new hybrid, automated, and non-invasive approach by combining hyper-spectral imaging, Savitzky-Golay (SG) Filter, Principal Components Analysis (PCA), Machine Learning (ML) classifiers/regressors, and stacking generalization methods to detect sugar in honey. First, the 32 different sugar concentration levels in honey were predicted using various ML regressors. Second, the six ranges of sugar were classified using various classifiers. Third, the 11 types of honey and 100% sugar were classified using classifiers. The stacking model (STM) obtained R2: 0.999, RMSE: 0.493 ml (v/v), RPD: 40.2, a 10-fold average R2: 0.996 and RMSE: 1.27 ml (v/v) for predicting 32 sugar concentrations. The STM achieved a Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC) of 99.7% and a Kappa score of 99.7%, a 10-fold average MCC of 98.9% and a Kappa score of 98.9% for classifying the six sugar ranges and 12 categories of honey types and a sugar.

Significant progress has been achieved in enhancing early outcomes for individuals with maple syrup urine disease (MSUD), a rare metabolic disorder that leads to the accumulation of branched-chain amino acids leucine, isoleucine, and valine, where leucine is known as the primary neurotoxic metabolite. Newborn screening is helpful in early diagnosis and implementation of dietary treatment, thus reducing neurological deterioration and complications in young children. However, patients face the life-long challenge of maintaining metabolic control through adherence to a strict low-leucine diet to avoid long-term consequences of chronic hyperleucinemia, which include cognitive deficits, mood disorders, and movement disorders. This case report exemplifies the complex involvement of MSUD in adult survivors. Despite presenting early in life, the patient thrived until the onset of psychiatric symptoms. The subject of this case is a 25-year-old woman with MSUD, who remained in her usual state of health until presentation to the emergency department (ED) with psychosis and altered mental status. However, due to a lack of medical records and poor communication, there was a delay in considering MSUD as a primary cause of her psychiatric symptoms. Although a genetics consultation was later arranged and efforts were made to decrease plasma leucine to the therapeutic range, these interventions proved inadequate in halting her deterioration in health. Her condition worsened within 72 h, culminating in her untimely death. This case emphasizes the comorbidity of psychiatric involvement in MSUD, which contributes to metabolic decompensation that can lead to cerebral edema and death. This case also highlights the pressing need for enhanced strategies for the acute management and long-term care of MSUD patients with psychiatric involvement, particularly in scenarios where mental disturbance could lead to noncompliance.

Ceramic membranes are applied to remove non-sugar impurities, including proteins, colloids and starch, from glucose-fructose syrup that is dissolved from raw sugar using acid. The performance of ceramic membranes with 0.05 µm pores in clarifying high-fructose syrup was investigated under various operating conditions. The flux decreased rapidly at the start of the experiment and then tended to stabilize at a temperature of 90 °C, a transmembrane pressure of 2.5 bar, and cross-flow velocity of 5 m/s under total reflux operation. Moreover, the steady-state flux was measured at 181.65 Lm-2 h-1, and the turbidity of glucose-fructose syrup was reduced from 92.15 NTU to 0.70 NTU. Although membrane fouling is inevitable, it can be effectively controlled by developing a practical approach to regenerating membranes. Mathematical model predictions, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy revealed that foulants primarily responsible for fouling are composed of polysaccharides, proteins, sucrose, phenols, and some metal elements, such as calcium, aluminum, and potassium. Due to the removal of suspended colloidal solids, the membrane-filtered glucose-fructose syrup was decolorized using activated carbon; the filtration rate was effectively improved. A linear relationship between volume increase in syrup and time was observed. A decolorization rate of 90% can be obtained by adding 0.6 (w/w) % of activated carbon. The pretreatment of glucose-fructose syrup using a ceramic membrane coupled with activated carbon results in low turbidity and color value. This information is essential for advancing glucose-fructose syrup and crystalline fructose production technology.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The literature about oral manifestations and dental management in maple syrup urine disease (MSUD) is sparse. The aim of this report is to present a new case of MSUD with special emphasis on oral findings and to review the relevant literature. METHOD: A case report of a 4-year-old boy with MSUD was described according to the CARE guidelines for describing case reports. Scoping review of relevant literature was performed, according to the PRISMA-ScR guidelines, by searching PubMed, Medline, Embase, and the grey literature for articles describing dental management and/or oral manifestations in MSUD. RESULTS: The initial search identified 219 articles, but only 4 met the inclusion criteria. Rampant caries and plaque induced gingivitis were the main oro-dental findings in MSUD. Other oral findings included enamel hypoplasia, skeletal abnormalities, and abnormal oral behaviors. Disease-related factors appeared to play a major role in the development of the observed oral phenotype. CONCLUSION: Oral health in MSUD seems to be influenced by the reliance on semi-synthetic diet and associated neurocognitive complications. Tailored oral health promotional interventions should be included in the multidisciplinary management of patients with MSUD.

OBJECTIVES: A synergic antihistamine, cough suppressant, and decongestant combination of chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan, and phenylephrine is used to treat acute respiratory infections caused by seasonal viruses. The effective qualitative and quantitative methods require the simultaneous measurement of a ternary combination in the pharmaceutical syrup dosage form. Therefore, a new, simple, fast and robust high performance thin layer chromatographic (HPTLC) method has been developed and validated for chlorpheniramine maleate (CPM), dextromethorphan hydrobromide (DEXO) and phenylephrine hydrochloride (PE). MATERIAL AND METHODS: The chromatographic separation was carried out on precoated aluminium plates with silica gel 60 F254 as the stationary phase. Mobile phase used was chloroform: methanol: ammonia (2.5:7.5:0.3, v/v/v) for proper separation. The detection was carried out at 270nm wavelength in absorbance mode. Developed method was validated as per International Council for Harmonization (ICH) Q2 (R1) guideline. RESULTS: The linearity range is 400 to 1400ng/band for CPM, 3000 to 11500ng/band for DEXO and 1000 to 3500ng/band for PE with correlation coefficient ≥ 0.995. The consistent lower values of relative standard deviation (RSD, %) for precision and robustness study indicate the method reliability. The percent recovery ranged from 97.82 to 102.03% indicates the good accuracy of the method. CONCLUSION: The proposed method was complying for the analytical method validation parameters suggested by the ICH Q2 (R1) guideline. The method was found to be simple, rapid and reliable for the simultaneous estimation of CPM, DEXO and PE from its pharmaceutical syrup dosage form. The method was successfully applied to quantify these analytes from the several pharmaceutical syrup dosage form.

In this study, we utilized a navel hybrid material, prepared by fusing fluorescent Carbon Dots SyCDs, derived from syrup bottles, with curcumin. This innovative approach not only offers significant advancements in antimicrobial activity and bioimaging but also represents a stride in sustainable and eco-friendly nanotechnology. The core of our study is the development of an efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious method for synthesizing SyCDs. This is achieved by repurposing waste syrup bottles, thus addressing the pressing issue of plastic waste. The incorporation of curcumin, renowned for its biological properties, enhances the luminescent characteristics of SyCDs and augments their functionality. This combination overcomes the inherent limitations of curcumin when used in isolation. The hybrid material exhibits enhanced antimicrobial properties and proves to be a potent alternative to conventional fluorescent dyes for bioimaging, marking a substantial leap in the field of sustainable nanomaterials. Our work not only demonstrates the versatile applications of luminescent SyCDs in health and environmental science but also underscores the potential of sustainable approaches in addressing global environmental challenges. This study, represents a significant contribution to the domain of sustainable nanotechnology, highlighting the transformative power of integrating waste management with advanced material science.

High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) and Fructose (FR) are widely used sweeteners in many foods and beverages. This study aimed at investigating the cytotoxic effects of HFCS (5%-30%) and FR (62.5-2000 µg/mL) using MTT assay in Human Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HepG2) cells, and genotoxic effects of using Chromosome Aberrations (CAs), Sister Chromatid Exchanges (SCEs), Micronuclei (MN) and comet assays in human lymphocytes. HFCS significantly reduced the cell viability in HepG2 cells at between 7.5% and 30% for 24 and 48 h. 30% HFCS caused a very significant toxic effect. FR had a cytotoxic effect in HepG2 cells at all treatments. However, as fructose concentration decreased, the cell viability decreased. HFCS (10%-20%) and FR (250-2000 µg/mL) decreased the mitotic index at higher concentrations. IC50 value was found to be a 15% for 48 h. IC50 value of FR was detected as 62.5 µg/mL for 24 h and 48 h. HFCS significantly increased CAs frequency at 15% and 20%. FR significantly increased the frequency of CAs at 250, 1000, and 2000 µg/mL for 48 h. Both sweeteners increased the frequency of SCEs at all concentrations. HFCS (15% and 20%) and FR (250, 1000, and 2000 µg/mL) induced MN frequency at higher concentrations. HFCS caused DNA damage in comet assay at 10% -30%. FR increased tail intensity and moment at 125-2000 µg/mL and tail length at 62.5, 250 and 500 µg/mL. Therefore, HFCS and FR are clearly seen to be cytotoxic and genotoxic, especially at higher concentrations.


HFCS and FR exhibited cytotoxic effect at HepG2 and human lymphocytes at higher concentrations.Both sweeteners increased the frequencies of CAs and SCEs at higher concentrations.HFCS caused DNA damage at 10% -30% concentrations.HFCS (15% and 20%) and FR (250, 1000, and 2000 µg/mL) induced MN frequency.

An 11-month-old female infant diagnosed with classic subtype IB maple syrup urine disease underwent living donor liver transplantation. Blood samples for plasma amino acid analysis were collected during the three phases of the operation. Despite the perioperative prophylactic administration of 12.5% hypertonic dextrose solution with insulin and a 20% intralipid emulsion, the blood levels of the branched-chain amino acids increased dramatically during surgery, consistent with an acute intraoperative metabolic decompensation. However, these blood levels normalized soon after liver transplantation with an excellent outcome. We suggest that the occurrence of an intraoperative metabolic crisis during liver transplantation is not necessarily a sign of graft failure.

This work aimed to study for the first time the effects of phenolic compounds from sugarcane syrup on Saccharomyces cerevisiae ß-farnesene fermentation by removing them from this feedstock. Syrup purification was optimized through a central composite design using five types of activated charcoal: three contact times (1-24 h) and three adsorbent concentrations (10-150 g L-1 ). The optimal purification condition-charcoal pellets at 115 g L-1 and contact time of 12.5 h-led to 96.7% of phenolic compounds removal and 43.7% of syrup recovery. The effects of reducing phenolic content from approximately 7.0-0.3 mg L-1 in sugarcane syrup on yeast fermentation varied with the scale. An increase in biomolecule productivity was only observed in shake-flasks (11%) and in biomass productivity only in the 2 L bioreactor (12%). Thus, phenolic compounds from sugarcane syrup do not influence ß-farnesene production at a large scale under the conditions tested.

Background: The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) provides nutrition assistance to low-income households, including infant formula for infants not fully breastfeeding. Issuance of lactose-reduced infant formula made with corn syrup solids (CSSF) is associated with elevated risk of obesity in early life, but associations between formula type and dietary intake have not been examined. Objectives: To evaluate associations between infant formula (amount and type) issued by WIC with subsequent child diet at ages 12-59 mo. Methods: Dietary data from 2014, 2017, and 2020 Los Angeles County WIC Survey respondents (n = 1339 children, 12-59 mo of age) were merged with WIC administrative data on infant feeding (amount and type of infant formula at ages 0-12 mo). Intake frequencies were available for sweetened beverages, sweets, juice, fast food, water, fruit, vegetables, and milk. Infant feeding was categorized by amount of WIC-issued formula (descending: fully formula fed, mostly formula fed, mostly breastfed, fully breastfed) and issuance of a CSSF (any, none). Associations between infant feeding (infant formula amount and type) and child diet were evaluated in multivariable generalized estimating equation negative binomial regression models, stratified by child age (12 to <24 mo, 24 to <60 mo). Results: Any infant formula issuance in the first year of life was adversely associated with subsequent dietary intake. This included 21%-23% higher 100% juice intake at 24 to <60 mo and 11%-13% (at 24 to <60 mo) or 20%-22% (at 12 to <24 mo) lower water intake. CSSF receipt compared with only other infant formula was not consistently associated with subsequent child diet. Conclusions: Any infant formula amount, but not CSSF receipt compared with other formula types, was associated with less healthful beverage intake patterns among WIC-participating children. WIC nutrition education may have a stronger impact if tailored based on infant feeding practices.

Labels do not disclose the excess-free-fructose/unpaired-fructose content in foods/beverages. Objective was to estimate excess-free-fructose intake using USDA loss-adjusted-food-availability (LAFA) data (1970-2019) for high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) and apple juice, major sources of excess-free-fructose, for comparison with malabsorption dosages (~ 5 g-children/ ~ 10 g-adults). Unlike sucrose and equimolar fructose/glucose, unpaired-fructose triggers fructose malabsorption and its health consequences. Daily intakes were calculated for HFCS that is generally-recognized-as-safe/ (55% fructose/45% glucose), and variants (65/35, 60/40) with higher fructose-to-glucose ratios (1.9:1, 1.5:1), as measured by independent laboratories. Estimations include consumer-level-loss (CLL) allowances used before (20%), and after, subjective, retroactively-applied increases (34%), as recommended by corn-refiners (~ 2012). No contributions from crystalline-fructose or agave syrup were included due to lack of LAFA data. High-excess-free-fructose-fruits (apples/pears/watermelons/mangoes) were not included. Eaten in moderation they are less likely to trigger malabsorption. Another objective was to identify potential parallel trends between excess-free-fructose intake and the "unexplained" US asthma epidemic. The fructose/gut-dysbiosis/lung axis is well documented, case-study evidence and epidemiological research link HFCS/apple juice intake with asthma, and unlike gut-dysbiosis/gut-fructosylation, childhood asthma prevalence data spans > 40 years. Results Excess-free-fructose daily intake for individuals consuming HFCS with an average 1.5:1 fructose-to-glucose ratio, ranged from 0.10 g/d in 1970, to 11.3 g/d in 1999, to 6.5 g/d in 2019, and for those consuming HFCS with an average 1.9:1 ratio, intakes ranged from 0.13 g/d to 16.9 g/d (1999), to 9.7 g/d in 2019, based upon estimates with a 20% CLL allowance. Intake exceeded dosages that trigger malabsorption (~ 5 g) around ~ 1980. By the early 1980's, tripled apple juice intake had added ~ 0.5 g to average-per-capita excess-free-fructose intake. Contributions were higher (~ 3.8 g /4-oz.) for individuals consuming apple juice consistent with a healthy eating pattern (4-oz. children, 8-oz. adults). The "unexplained" childhood asthma epidemic (1980-present) parallels increasing average-per-capita HFCS/apple juice intake trends and reflects epidemiological research findings. Conclusion Displacement of sucrose with HFCS, its ubiquitous presence in the US food-supply, the industry practice of adding more fructose to HFCS than generally-recognized-as-safe, and increased use of apple juice/crystalline fructose/agave syrup in foods/beverages has contributed to unprecedented excess-free-fructose intake levels, fructose malabsorption, gut-dysbiosis and gut-fructosylation (immunogen burden)-gateways to chronic disease.

A milk drink flavored with date syrup produced at a lab scale level was evaluated. The production process of date syrup involves a sequence of essential unit operations, commencing with the extraction, filtration, and concentration processes from two cultivars: Sukkary and Khlass. Date syrup was then mixed with cow's and camel's milk at four percentages to form a nutritious, natural, sweet, and energy-rich milk drink. The sensory, physical, and chemical characteristics of the milk drinks flavored with date syrup were examined. The objective of this work was to measure the physiochemical properties of date fruits and milk drinks flavored with date syrup, and then to evaluate the physical properties of milk drinks utilizing non-destructive visible-near-infrared spectra (VIS-NIR). The study assessed the characteristics of the milk drink enhanced with date syrup by employing VIS-NIR spectra and utilizing a partial least-square regression (PLSR) and artificial neural network (ANN) analysis. The VIS-NIR spectra proved to be highly effective in estimating the physiochemical attributes of the flavored milk drink. The ANN model outperformed the PLSR model in this context. RMSECV is considered a more reliable indicator of a model's future predictive performance compared to RMSEC, and the R2 value ranged between 0.946 and 0.989. Consequently, non-destructive VIS-NIR technology demonstrates significant promise for accurately predicting and contributing to the entire production process of the product's properties examined.
