RESUMO

Lead generation is the process of gaining potential customers' interest to increase future sales, and it is an essential part of many businesses' (amusement parks, theme parks, clubs, etc.) sales processes as their membership is more expensive. The main objective of these businesses is to increase the count of customers. By generating sales leads, a club/park can find leads who have already expressed interest in its products and services and access their audience potential, allowing them to focus on future marketing and sales efforts on those leads that are more likely to convert. The current work focuses on how to convert a lead to a customer in optimum number of days. We collect two kinds of data: customer data and lead generation data. The customer data consists of all the leads who have taken the membership, and the lead generation data consists of all current leads. The details of those converted from a lead into a customer in the last 60 days are filtered out from the customer data. Using this data, patterns are generated, which are used to predict the following activity (step) for qualified leads, along with the optimal number of days required to complete that activity. This optimal number of days is found using the Hybrid Chaotic Pattern Search Algorithm (HCPSA). This novel approach here helps in boosting sales by prioritizing leads who have expressed interest and identifying the optimal window for converting them into paying customers. This strategy holds significant potential to benefit businesses across various industries.

OBJECTIVES: Most patients with pancreatic cancer who have undergone surgical resection eventually develop disease recurrence. |This study aimed to investigate whether there is evidence to support routine surveillance after pancreatic cancer surgery, with a secondary aim of analyzing the implementation of surveillance strategies in the Nordic countries. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A scoping review was conducted to identify clinical practice guidelines globally and research studies relating to surveillance after pancreatic cancer resection. This was followed by a survey among 20 pancreatic units from four Nordic countries to assess their current practice of follow-up for operated patients. RESULTS: Altogether 16 clinical practice guidelines and 17 research studies were included. The guidelines provided inconsistent recommendations regarding postoperative surveillance of pancreatic cancer. The clinical research data were mainly based on retrospective cohort studies with low level of evidence and lead-time bias was not addressed. Active surveillance was recommended in Sweden and Denmark, but not in Norway beyond the post-operative/adjuvant period. Finland had no national recommendations for surveillance. The Nordic survey revealed a wide variation in reported practice among the different units. About 75% (15 of 20 units) performed routine postoperative surveillance. Routine CA 19-9 testing was used by 80% and routine CT by 67% as part of surveillance. About 73% of centers continued follow-up until 5 years postoperatively. CONCLUSION: Evidence for routine long-term (i.e. 5 years) surveillance after pancreatic cancer surgery remains limited. Most pancreatic units in the Nordic countries conduct regular follow-up, but protocols vary.

Ternary cuprous (Cu+)-based metal halides, represented by cesium copper iodide (e.g., CsCu2I3 and Cs3Cu2I5), are garnering increasing interest for light-emitting applications owing to their intrinsically high photoluminescence quantum yield and direct bandgap. Toward electrically driven light-emitting diodes (LEDs), it is highly desirable for the light emitters to have a high structural dimensionality as it may favor efficient electrical injection. However, unlike lead-based halide perovskites whose light-emitting units can be facilely arranged in three-dimensional (3D) ways, to date, nearly all ternary Cu+-based metal halides crystallize into 0D or 1D networks of Cu-X (X = Cl, Br, I) polyhedra, whereas 3D and even 2D structures remain mostly uncharted. Here, by employing a fluorinated organic cation, we report a new kind of ternary Cu+-based metal halides, (DFPD)CuX2 (DFPD+ = 4,4-difluoropiperidinium), which exhibits unique 2D layered crystal structure. Theoretical calculations reveal a highly dispersive conduction band of (DFPD)CuBr2, which is beneficial for charge carrier injection. It is also of particular significance to find that the 2D (DFPD)CuBr2 crystals show appealing properties, including improved ambient stability and an efficient warm white-light emission, making it a promising candidate for single-component lighting and display applications.

In perovskite solar cells (PSCs), the electron transfer layer (ETL) characteristics have significant effects on the photoelectric conversion efficiency (PCE) of the devices. Herein, a natural chelating agent polymer polyaspartic acid (PASP) is doped into the SnO2 precursor solution attributed to a strong interaction between PASP molecules and SnO2, which strengthens the interface contact and passivates the vacancy oxygen trap of the obtained SnO2 ETL, thus promoting the transfer of electrons. In addition, PASP can also regulate the growth of perovskite crystals, leading to an improved crystal quality of the perovskite films. Meanwhile, there is an excellent chelate anchoring of PASP to uncoordinated Pb2+, facilitating the reduction of trap defects at the interface, improving the stability of device, and suppressing the leakage of toxic Pb. Finally, the photovoltaic performance of the optimized device was greatly improved, and the PCE was increased from 21.22 to 23.49%, with outstanding environmental stability. This work provides an inexpensive and efficient treatment strategy that improves the performance and stability of friendly environmental PSCs.

Mining-related lead (Pb) pollution of the soil poses serious hazards to ecosystems and living organisms, including humans. Improved heavy metal phytoremediation efficacy, achieved by using phytostabilizing plants assisted by plant-growth-promoting (PGP) microorganisms, has been presented as an effective strategy for remediating polluted soils. The objective of this research was to examine the response and potential of the plant-growth-promoting bacterium LMR356, a Rhodococcus qingshengii strain isolated from an abandoned mining soil, under lead stress conditions. Compared to non-contaminated culture media, the presence of lead induced a significant decrease in auxin production (from 21.17 to 2.65 µg mL-1) and phosphate solubilization (from 33.60 to 8.22 mg L-1), whereas other PGP traits increased drastically, such as 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) deaminase activity (from 38.17 to 71.37 nmol mg-1 h-1 α-ketobutyrate), siderophore production (from 69 to 83%), exopolysaccharide production (from 1952.28 to 3637.72 mg mL-1), biofilm formation, and motility. We, therefore, investigated the behavior of Sulla spinosissima L. in the presence or absence of this strain under a variety of experimental conditions. Under hydroponic conditions, Sulla plants showed endurance to varying lead concentrations (500-1000 µM). Inoculation of plants with Rhodococcus qingshengii strain LMR356 enhanced plant tolerance, as demonstrated by the increase in plant biomass (ranging from 14.41 to 79.12%) compared to non-inoculated Pb-stressed and non-stressed control plants. Antioxidant enzyme activities (increasing by -42.71 to 126.8%) and chlorophyll (383.33%) and carotenoid (613.04%) content were also augmented. In addition to its impact on plant lead tolerance, strain LMR356 showed a growth-promoting effect on Sulla plants when cultivated in sterilized non-contaminated sand. Parameters such as plant biomass (16.57%), chlorophyll (24.14%), and carotenoid (30%) contents, as well as ascorbate peroxidase (APX), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT) activities, were all elevated compared to non-inoculated plants. Furthermore, when the same plant species was cultivated in highly polluted soil, inoculation increased plant biomass and improved its physiological properties. These findings demonstrate that LMR356 is a phytobeneficial bacterial strain capable of enhancing Sulla growth under normal conditions and improving its heavy metal tolerance in multi-polluted soils. Thus, it can be considered a promising biofertilizer candidate for growing Sulla spinosissima L. or other selected plants intended for application in restoration and stabilization initiatives aimed at reviving and safeguarding environmentally compromised and polluted soils after mining activities.

BACKGROUND: This study compared the stability of the Medtronic Attain Stability Quad (ASQ), a novel quadripolar active fixation left ventricular (LV) lead with a side helix, to that of conventional quadripolar leads with passive fixation (non-ASQ) and evaluated their LV lead performance.Methods and Results: In all, 183 consecutive patients (69 ASQ, 114 non-ASQ) who underwent cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) between January 2018 and June 2021 were enrolled. Complications, including elevated pacing capture threshold (PCT) levels, phrenic nerve stimulation (PNS), and LV lead dislodgement, were analyzed during the postimplantation period until the first outpatient visit after discharge. The frequency of LV lead-related complications was significantly lower in the ASQ than non-ASQ group (14% vs. 30%, respectively; P=0.019). Specifically, LV lead dislodgement occurred only in the non-ASQ group, and elevated PCT levels were significantly lower in the ASQ group (7% vs. 23%; P=0.007). Kaplan-Meier analysis confirmed a significantly lower incidence of LV lead-related complications in the ASQ group (log-rank P=0.005). Cox multivariable regression analysis showed a significant reduction in lead-related complications associated with ASQ (hazard ratio 0.44; 95% confidence interval 0.23-0.83; P=0.011). CONCLUSIONS: The ASQ group exhibited fewer LV lead-related complications requiring reintervention and setting changes than the non-ASQ group. Thus, the ASQ may be a favorable choice for CRT device implantation.

BACKGROUND: Arsenic, cadmium, and lead are toxic elements that widely contaminate our environment. These toxicants are associated with acute and chronic health problems, and evidence suggests that minority communities, including Hispanic/Latino Americans, are disproportionately exposed. Few studies have assessed culturally specific predictors of exposure to understand the potential drivers of racial/ethnic exposure disparities. OBJECTIVE: We sought to evaluate acculturation measures as predictors of metal/metalloid (hereafter "metal") concentrations among Mexican American adults to illuminate potential exposure sources that may be targeted for interventions. METHODS: As part of a longitudinal cohort, 510 adults, aged 35 to 69 years, underwent baseline interview, physical examination, and urine sample collection. Self-reported acculturation was assessed across various domains using the Short Acculturation Scale for Hispanics (SASH). Multivariable linear regression was used to assess associations between acculturation and urinary concentrations of arsenic, cadmium, and lead. Ordinal logistic regression was utilized to assess associations between acculturation and a metal mixture score. Lastly, best subset selection was used to build a prediction model for each toxic metal with a combination of the acculturation predictors. RESULTS: After adjustment, immigration factors were positively associated with arsenic and lead concentrations. For lead alone, English language and American media and food preferences were associated with lower levels. Immigration and parental heritage from Mexico were positively associated with the metal mixture, while preferences for English language, media, and food were negatively associated. CONCLUSION: Acculturation-related predictors of exposure provide information about potential sources of toxic metals, including international travel, foods, and consumer products. The findings in this research study provide information to empower future efforts to identify and address specific acculturation-associated toxicant exposures in order to promote health equity through clinical guidance, patient education, and public policy.

BACKGROUND: The clinical impact of Periprocedural myocardial injury (PMI) in patients undergoing permanent pacemaker implantation with Left Bundle Branch Area Pacing (LBBAP) is unknown. METHODS: 130 patients undergoing LBBAP from January 2020 to June 2021 and completing 12 months follow up were enrolled to assess the impact of PMI on composite clinical outcome (CCO) defined as any of the following: all-cause death, hospitalization for heart failure (HHF), hospitalization for acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and ventricular arrhythmias (VAs). High sensitivity Troponin T (HsTnT) was measured up to 24-h after intervention to identify the peak HsTnT values. PMI was defined as increased peak HsTnT values at least > 99th percentile of the upper reference limit (URL: 15 pg/ml) in patients with normal baseline values. RESULTS: PMI occurred in 72 of 130 patients (55%). ROC analysis yielded a post-procedural peak HsTnT cutoff of fourfold the URL for predicting the CCO (AUC: 0.692; p = 0.023; sensitivity 73% and specificity 71%). Of the enrolled patients, 20% (n = 26) had peak HsTnT > fourfold the URL. Patients with peak HsTnT > fourfold the URL exhibited a higher incidence of the CCO than patients with peak HsTnT ≤ fourfold the URL (31% vs. 10%; p = 0.005), driven by more frequent hospitalizations for ACS (15% vs. 3%; p = 0.010). Multiple (> 2) lead repositions attempts, the use of septography and stylet-driven leads were independent predictors of higher risk of PMI with peak HsTnT > fourfold the URL. CONCLUSIONS: PMI seems common among patients undergoing LBBAP and may be associated with an increased risk of clinical outcomes in case of more pronounced (peak HsTnT > fourfold the URL) myocardial damage occurring during the procedure.

BACKGROUND: Exposure of humans and animals to heavy metals is increasing day-by-day; thus, lead even today remains of significant public health concern. According to CDC, blood lead reference value (BLRV) ranges from 3.5 µg/dl to 5 µg/dl in adults. Recently, almost 2.6% decline in male fertility per year has been reported but the cause is not well established. Lead (Pb2+) affects the size of testis, semen quality, and secretory functions of prostate. But the molecular mechanism(s) of lead toxicity in sperm cells is not clear. Thus, present study was undertaken to evaluate the adverse effects of lead acetate at environmentally relevant exposure levels (0.5, 5, 10 and 20 ppm) on functional and molecular dynamics of spermatozoa of bucks following in vitro exposure for 15 min and 3 h. RESULTS: Lead significantly decreased motility, viable count, and motion kinematic patterns of spermatozoa like curvilinear velocity, straight-line velocity, average path velocity, beat cross frequency and maximum amplitude of head lateral displacement even at 5 ppm concentration. Pb2+ modulated intracellular cAMP and Ca2+ levels in sperm cells through L-type calcium channels and induced spontaneous or premature acrosome reaction (AR) by increasing tyrosine phosphorylation of sperm proteins and downregulated mitochondrial transmembrane potential. Lead significantly increased DNA damage and apoptosis as well. Electron microscopy studies revealed Pb2+ -induced deleterious effects on plasma membrane of head and acrosome including collapsed cristae in mitochondria. CONCLUSIONS: Pb2+ not only mimics Ca2+ but also affects cellular targets involved in generation of cAMP, mitochondrial transmembrane potential, and ionic exchange. Lead seems to interact with Ca2+ channels because of charge similarity and probably enters the sperm cell through these channels and results in hyperpolarization. Our findings also indicate lead-induced TP and intracellular Ca2+ release in spermatozoa which in turn may be responsible for premature acrosome exocytosis which is essential feature of capacitation for fertilization. Thus, lead seems to reduce the fertilizing capacity of spermatozoa even at 0.5 ppm concentrations.

Few-layer transition metal dichalcogenides and perovskites are both promising materials in high-performance optoelectronic devices. Here, we developed a self-driven photodetector by creating a heterojunction between few-layer MoS2 and lead-free perovskite Cs2CuBr4. The detector shows a unique property of very high sensitivity in a broad spectral range of 400 to 800 nm with response speed in a millisecond order. Current-voltage characteristics of the heterojunction device show rectifying behavior, in contrast to the ohmic behavior of the MoS2-based device. The rectifying behavior is attributed to the type II band alignment of the MoS2/Cs2CuBr4 heterojunction. The device shows a broadband (400 to 800 nm) photodetection with very high responsivity reaching up to 2.8 × 104 A/W and detectivity of 1.6 × 1011 Jones at a bias voltage of 3 V. The detector can also operate in self-bias mode with sufficient response. The photocurrent, photoresponsivity, detectivity, and external quantum efficiency of the device are found to be dependent on the illumination power density. The response time of the device is found to be ∼32 and ∼79 ms during the rise and fall of the photocurrent. The work proposes a MoS2/Cs2CuBr4 heterostructure to be a promising candidate for cost-effective, high-performance photodetector.

Lead (Pb) is a ubiquitous, non-biodegradable heavy metal contaminant with a significant impact on both human and animal health. The adverse effect of lead on health and productivity of avian species has received little attention. Alchornea laxiflora (Benth) belongs to Euphorbiaceae family and grows naturally in the Nigerian rain forest. Decoction of the leaves is usually administered traditionally to treat inflammatory and infectious diseases. The ethanol extract of Alchornea laxiflora (EaAL) leaves was used in this study to ameliorate lead-induced neurodegeneration. Seven groups of 5-week-old cockerels (n=5) were treated for 6 weeks thus: Group A - Control (water only), Group B - (100 mg/kg of EaAL daily), Group C - (200 mg/kg of EaAL daily, p.o.), Group D - (1 % lead acetate in drinking water), Group E - (1 % lead acetate in drinking water and 100 mg/kg of EaAL daily), Group F - (1 % lead acetate and 200 mg/kg of EaAL daily), Group G - (1 % lead acetate and 100 mg/kg of Vitamin C). All administrations were per os birds were euthanized on day 43 by quick cervical dislocation. Histological stains (H&E and Nissl) and Black Gold II (BGII) histochemistry were used to assess alterations in the cerebrum and cerebellum. Administration of EaAL at the two concentrations resulted in a drastic reduction in the incidence of neuropathologies observed (e.g. pyknosis and multilayering of Purkinje cells, neuronal degeneration in hippocampus cerebrum and ependymal cells, distortion of meningeal epithelial cells, etc). BGII histochemistry revealed severe demyelination caused by the administration of lead acetate, while the two doses of EaAL showed significant restoration of myelin in the cerebellum. The amelioration of demyelination observed with the use of vitamin C was considerably lower than that recorded with the use of EaAL. The use of EaAL significantly ameliorated morphological alterations and demyelination caused by the administration of lead acetate, however, caution should be exercised in the administration, as individual species idiosyncrasies may arise and the tendency to pro-oxidation at 200 mg/kg when administered alone was observed in one subject.

We developed multiwavelength evanescent scattering microscopy (MWESM), which can acquire plasmonic nanoparticle images at the particle level using the evanescent field as the incident source and distinguish different LSPR (localized surface plasmon resonance) spectral peaks among four wavelengths. Our microscope could be easily and simply built by modifying a commercial total internal reflection fluorescence microscope (TIRFM) with the substitution of a beamsplitter and the addition of a semicircular stop. The ultrathin depth of illumination and rejection of the reflected incident source together contribute to the high sensitivity and contrast of single nanoparticle imaging. We first validated the capability of our imaging system in distinguishing plasmonic nanoparticles bearing different LSPR spectral peaks, and the results were consistent with the scattering spectra results of hyperspectral imaging. Moreover, we demonstrated high imaging quality from the aspects of the signal/noise ratio and point spread function of the single-particle images. Meaningfully, the system can be utilized in rapidly determining the concentration of toxic lead ions in environmental and biological samples with good linearity and sensitivity, based on single-particle evanescent scattering imaging through the detection of the alteration of the LSPR of silver nanoparticles. This system holds the potential to advance the field of nanoparticle imaging and foster the application of nanomaterials as sensors.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The rate of cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) implantations and the need for transvenous lead extraction (TLE) are growing worldwide. This study examined a large Swedish cohort with the aim of identifying possible predictors of post-TLE mortality with special focus on systemic infection patients and frailty. METHODS: This was a single centre study. Records of patients undergoing TLE between 2010 and 2018 were analysed. Statistical analyses were conducted to compare baseline characteristics of patients with different indications and identify risk factors of 30-day and 1-year mortality. RESULTS: A total of 893 patients were identified. Local infection was the dominant indication and pacemaker was the most common CIED. The mean age was 65 ± 16 years, 73% were male and median follow-up was 3.9 years. Heart failure was the most common comorbidity. Patients with systemic infection were significantly older, frailer and had significantly higher levels of comorbidities. 30-day mortality and 1-year mortality rates were 2.5% and 9.9%, respectively. Systemic infection and chronic kidney disease (CKD) were independently associated with 30-day and 1-year mortality. Clinical frailty scale (CFS) 5-7 correlated independently with 1-year mortality in the entire cohort and specifically in systemic infection patients. CKD, cardiac resynchronization therapy and CFS 5-7 were significant risk factors for long-term mortality (death >1 year after TLE) in multivariable analysis. CONCLUSIONS: Systemic infection, kidney failure in addition to the novel parameter of frailty were associated with post-TLE all-cause mortality. These risk factors should be considered during pre-procedure risk stratification to improve post-TLE outcomes.

Lead (Pb) is a global contaminant associated with multiple adverse health effects. Humans are especially vulnerable during critical developmental stages. During pregnancy, exposure to Pb can occur through diet and release from maternal bones. Apolipoprotein E gene (APOE) variants (ɛ2, ɛ3, ɛ4 alleles) may influence sex steroid hormones, bone metabolism, and Pb kinetics. We examined the interplay among maternal APOE (mAPOE) genotypes, fetal sex, parity, and Pb in maternal and cord blood (mB-Pb, CB-Pb) using linear regression models. Our study involved 817 pregnant women and 772 newborns with measured adequate levels of zinc and selenium. We compared carriers of the ε2 and ε4 alleles to those with the ε3/ε3 genotype. The geometric means (range) of mB-Pb and CB-Pb were 11.1 (3.58 - 87.6) and 9.31 (1.82 - 47.0) ng/g, respectively. In cases with female fetuses, the maternal mAPOE ε2 allele was associated with higher, while the mAPOE ε4 allele was associated with lower mB-Pb and CB-Pb levels. Nulliparity increased the strength of the observed associations. These findings highlight the significance of mAPOE genetics, fetal sex, and parity in prenatal Pb kinetics. Notably, the maternal ε2 allele may increase the risk of Pb exposure.

OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to evaluate the awareness regarding lead poisoning among the Saudi population of Arar, Saudi Arabia. METHODS: A cross-sectional, online self-administered questionnaire-based method was utilized for data collection through convenience sampling from Arar, Saudi Arabia. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. RESULTS: The study included 389 participants, with a majority (302 participants (77.6%)) of females with a mean age of 31.7 years (range 18-54 years). The source of information about lead poisoning was reported as the media in 264 participants (67.8%). The participants (197, 50.6%) reported children as the age group most at risk for lead poisoning. All suggested sources of exposure to lead were identified by 190 participants (48.9%). As for the most common effect of lead poisoning, mental impairment was reported by 101 participants (26%), while 107 (27.6%) participants reported nerve problems. Kidney problems were reported by 181 participants (46.4%). Gender significantly (P = 0.001) affects the participants' knowledge about the sources of lead poisoning, while knowledge about the routes of poisoning was significantly affected by the participants' age (P = 0.010). CONCLUSION: In Saudi Arabia, there is limited knowledge of risk factors, route of poisoning, and management and prevention of lead poisoning. A comprehensive lead-poisoning prevention strategy must include a high level of public knowledge of lead hazards as a key component.
