Abstract: This paper presents a brief background on current family configurations in order to articulate the desire of families towards generational psychic transmission. It takes as its starting point the Freudian concept of transmission, discussing it in the intersection of the individual, cultural and generational dimensions. Therefore, it highlights the unconscious dimension of what is transmitted in its relationship with the repetition, and the possibility of transforming the received content into something unique. Finally, the distinction between what the authors refer to as intergenerational and transgenerational psychic transmission is made, based on the analysis of fragments of a case study.

Abstract: The objective is to demonstrate that the discussion about cure is central to the emergence of psychoanalysis between the clinical and psychotherapeutic tradition. In addition to a clinic or psychotherapy, psychoanalysis must be recognized as a cure experience. Finally, we will propose that, by affirming the cure as the realization of a singular experience, Freudian psychoanalysis establishes a proposal of universal healing: in each singular realization of healing we will not have the integration of the singularity into any totality. Cure as the realization of a singular experience will not be identical to anything.

Abstract: This paper intends to demonstrate that, on the psychoanalytic field, the interpretation is itself an act of creation. Starting from the analysis of the Ancient World's representation politiques, latter on we highlight some of the differences between the use of the interpretation in Freud and in Artemidorus. As we demonstrate in the end of this paper, the psychoanalytic interpretation doesn't reveal the past but establishes it retroactively.

This article identifies and proposes five key elements to be taken into account in analysing the reception and development of psychoanalysis in Spain under the later Franco regime and during the Transition: 1) the absence - or very limited presence - of psychoanalytic points of reference in psychiatric production during the 1950s and 1960s; 2) the connections between psychoanalysis, anti-psychiatry and structuralism; 3) the importance of the arrival in Spain of Oscar Masotta, and his 'lay' psychoanalysis, in consolidating a psychoanalytic discourse and practice outside the IPA; 4) the influence of Argentinian psychoanalysts who came to Spain following the coup d'état in their country; and 5) the importance of the Revista de la Asociación Española de Neuropsiquiatría in disseminating and communicating psychoanalysis. These five keys group together situations and processes which have been studied to varying extents, but which it seems essential to consider as a whole in order to obtain an overall view of the process. We conclude that relations between psychiatry and psychoanalysis, the circulation of knowledge, and the socio-political and cultural context, etc. explain, among other things, the characteristics of the reception and development of a post-Freudian psychoanalysis in which the Lacanian position predominated over other approaches and schools

A comparative reading of Freud's canonical case study "From the History of an Infantile Neurosis" (1918) and the memoir written by the protagonist of that study, Sergei Pankejeff, known as the Wolf Man (1971a), centers on the complex matrix of meanings embodied in the act of lifting the veil. The neurotic symptom of a veil seemingly in front of the analysand's eyes is interpreted by Freud as a repetition of his birth in a Glückshaube (German for "caul," literally a "lucky hood"). The veil is represented as an ambivalent object both for Freud and for Pankejeff, who are enticed by the sense of a final truth behind the veil yet constantly doubt the possibility of grasping it. For Freud, psychoanalysis is the very process of lifting the veil, yet his analysand remained for him an unsolved riddle. Pankejeff, in a volume dedicated to his identity as the Wolf Man (Gardiner 1971a), created an autobiographical text that deliberately avoids telling the story of the analysand, thus drawing a veil over his story. The paradox embodied in lifting the veil is discussed in relation to Walter Benjamin's distinction between materiality and truth and his notion of the inherent unity of the veil and the veiled (1925).

An autobiographical interpretation of latent meanings in Freud's Interpretation of Dreams is undertaken in order to explore oedipal themes in Freud's writing and their role in his resistance to writing the book. By looking at how the book performs its message, in presenting a collection of Freud's personal dreams that talk to each other and inspire meaning-making, we can see how readers are drawn into the role of interpreters/analysts. This process makes the oedipal myth palpable long before Freud mentions it. It also illustrates an analytic process that analysts are all required to follow. Finally, the process reveals something in Freud that could be apprehended only after his ideas were conveyed-the unending process of interpretation, in which every conclusion gives rise to new ideas, inspiring new conclusions.

Given the historical association of hysteria with women and their relation to the feminine, many papers seek to understand the difficulty of this subjective position for women's sexuality. The present article promotes the urgency to discuss the implications of its incidence on men, anatomically speaking. Thus, this work aims to discuss the effects of the dynamics of hysteria for men, in its concerns to the sexual position assumption. For this, as it is a theoretical research, we will start with a screening of Freud's and Lacan's first period of teaching texts, looking for references of masculine hysteria and, mainly, considerations on cases of hysterical men. Subsequently, we will articulate the aspects highlighted by the authors, with which, in psychoanalytic theory, is presented as particular to the masculine position, such as the relation with the signifier phallus, with castration and symbolic identification, as well as its effects in the dynamics of the desire and fantasy.(AU)

Notions of ineffability, what cannot be put into words, vary depending on the historical and cultural context and, in particular, on shifting linguistic ideologies about the capabilities and limits of language. In recent decades psychoanalysts have embraced a modern notion of ineffability centered around traumatic bodily experiences that are thought to be inexpressible. However, these ideas break with Freudian ideas about language and, most importantly, with his understanding of the processes of interpretation that give meaning to both psychic pain and attempts to heal it. Contra Freud, current theories of ineffable trauma re-inscribe a dominance of the body over the psyche and over-simplify Freud's ideas about the retro-determination of trauma.

This paper aims to explore severe societal-political divisions and interferences with democratic processes and human rights issues in many locations around the world, including in the United States, and examines the role of leader-follower relationships related to such developments. The term "large group" describes hundreds, thousands or millions of people- most of whom will never see or even know about each other as individuals, but who share many of the same sentiments. This paper first describes how a child becomes a member of a large-group and how adults sometimes develop a second type of large-group identity. Looking at such phenomena provides the background data needed to examine the spread of the metaphorical question, "Who are we now?" worldwide, as well as to examine the evolution of present-day authoritarian regimes, extreme right-wing politics and rhetoric, wall-building, and societal-political divisions.

Psychoanalytic therapy is not supposed to cure man from death, nor to help him forget about it. It is supposed to deal with the soul, and it is up to the soul to deal with death. Death is actually not an issue for psychoanalytic therapy-its only problem can be the soul. On the other hand, only for the soul is death an authentic problem. Only the soul can authentically bring death into question. Psychoanalysis has indebted humanity by finding the strength and critical prudence in a crucial moment for civilization to remove the veil of prohibition and shame from sexuality, which had been repressed for centuries. Today, sexuality is no longer repressed (it may be even too present in the media for some)-but death became repressed. This paper considers death as an essential topic for psychoanalysis.

Even Freud had a difficult time explaining narcissism. It may account for why he only wrote one paper explicitly concerning this topic. The author proposes that the field of affective neuroscience has developed theoretical concepts that were not available to Freud, and that have created the potential for discussion of how narcissism may begin to explain much of the rampant disagreements among psychoanalysts studying the field of psychoanalysis. Specifically, the author suggests that a source of narcissism in the mammalian brain/mind is beginning to be knowable through advances in knowledge from the collective baseline of neurophysiology, affective as well cognitive neuroscience, and psychoanalysis.

The urgency of the problem of how to learn from the relatively recent past in order not to repeat its devastating effects, a problem that revolves around the ethics of memory and history, has combined with an awareness that later generations of victims and perpetrators-the "post" generations-may find themselves inhibited in relation to moving forwards because they are not truly "post" at all. It is as if they are haunted by the experiences of their predecessors, which is passed on in some way through stories and selective silences, as well as through the older generation's ways of handling themselves and the personal and cultural representations of their situation. This article presents a psychoanalytic reading of the postmemory literature, drawing on second generation Holocaust literature and in particular rendering the distinction between postmemory as a mode of traumatic identification and postmemorial work as a form of working through. Active memorial work that allows repetitions to be turned into processes of recovery is essential for the laying of ghosts to rest.

We tend to think of Narcissus as foolishly enamored with his own image, morbidly preoccupied with self-love. Yet when we study him closely in Ovid's Metamorphoses, he does not seem to recognize himself in the water but believes to be encountering another person; he appears lost to himself. Freud's theories of ego formation, narcissism, and melancholia are examined for explanations of this loss. In contrast to Freud, who believed that identification with the lost object facilitates the subject's separation from it, identification is redescribed as a mechanism preserving the (imaginary) union with the object. Identification with the negative object is viewed as an inevitable aspect of ego formation rather than only as indicative of depressive pathology. Finally, narcissism, initially defined as a state of diminished object cathexis, is understood as a defense structure disavowing separation and leading to the conflation of self and other.

Since antiquity and in diverse peoples the human mind dreams. The classic methods of approach of dreams Artemidorus and Freud we present the technology of collective management of dreams, inspired by the Warlpiri collective technology (Barbara Glowczewski). Partial results of the survey are presented with 14 participants who report dreams in five weekly meetings, in SPA - Serviço de Psicologia Aplicada (Applied Psychology Service) of the Universidade Federal Fluminense. The theoretical approach is given by authors such as Felix Guattari, Gilles Deleuze, Jean-Paul Sartre, Georges Simondon e Michel Foucault. The innovative method elaborated here abandons the search for the truth hidden in dreams and childhood psychological conflicts and embrace the night scene as dramatics creations, what blacks Warlpiri of Australia consider conditions of formation of everything that exists. The research aims to propose collective management of dreams as a technique of activation of the criatives elements of everyday life and method of intervention in the field of subjectivation. The results show that the collective management of dreams is feasible.(AU)
