Variaciones del flujo pico en niños asmáticos por efecto de la auriculoterapia: puerto Padre 2008 / Peak Flow Variations in Asthmatic Children as a Consequence of Ear acupuncture

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio de intervención longitudinal, prospectivo, en 40 niños con asma bronquial intermitente y persistente, en edades comprendidas entre los 11 y 14 años, atendidos en la consulta de Alergia del Policlínico Universitario Rafael Izquierdo Ramírez de Delicias, Puerto Padre, durante el período de tiempo comprendido desde enero hasta diciembre del 2008, con el objetivo de evaluar los efectos de la Auriculoterapia sobre el flujo pico. Los pacientes se distribuyeron en 2 grupos de 20 niños cada uno, a través de un muestreo aleatorio simple, al primer grupo se le aplicó tratamiento combinado con Auriculoterapia y Ketotifeno y el segundo se empleó como control donde se administró solo el medicamento. Las mediciones del FP se realizaron antes, cada 3 meses y al finalizar el tratamiento. Se observó un incremento del flujo pico en el grupo estudio respecto al grupo control(AU)

ABSTRACT

A longitudinal and prospective intervention study was carried out in children between the ages of 11 and 14 years, with persistent and intermittent asthma. They attended the allergy out-patient consultation at the University Polyclinic Rafael Izquierdo Ramírez in Delicias, Puerto Padre from January to December 2008. This study was aimed at assessing the effects of ear acupuncture upon the peak flow of respiration. Patients were distributed at random into two groups of 20 children each. To the first group, a combined treatment of ear acupuncture and ketotiphen was applied. Only the medication as such was administered to the second group, which was labelled as the control group. The peak flow was measured before, every three months and eventually at the end of the study. There was an increase in the peak flow in the study group(AU)
