ABSTRACT
Along the development of imaging diagnosistechnology, it has become increasingly importantto perform morphological research usingimages. Our aim here was to study the sellaturcica using tomographic imaging in differentplanes of section that would reveal itsshape and morphometry, correlating such datawith the cranium-cephalic index, age and sexof the skulls analyzed. For this study, one hundredskulls from the Department of Anatomyat UNIFESP were used. The material, afterbeing measured and classified, was subjectedto tomography in three planes, coronal, axialand sagittal, and immediately after this, thefollowing measurements were calculated withthe images obtained: height on sagittal sections, length on axial sections and area of thesella on sagittal sections. The results for thesella turcica radiological measurements were asfollows: length from 6 to 15.1 mm, with amean of 10.31 mm; height from 2.9 mm to11.1 mm, with a mean of 6.33 mm, and areafrom 8 mm? to 79 mm? with a mean of 41.21mm?. The sella turcica is a constant anatomicstructure, but with a variable shape (AU)
