RESUMO
Os distúrbios da articulação temporomandibular (DTM) são causas importantes de morbidade napopulação em geral, tornando-se mais importantes quando ocasionam sintomas otológicos. Foram consultados trabalhos publicados na área de estudo coma pretensão de demonstrar a relação entre estas disfunções articulares, hábitos parafuncionais associados a sintomas otológicos. Por mais que não seja totalmente conhecida a exata correlação entre os DTM e a sintomatologia otológica, encontram-se com grande freqüência sintomascomo otalgia (na maioria dos estudos), tinitus, plenitude auricular, vertigem e tontura em pacientes portadoresdestas alterações articulares. Prevalece nos indivíduos do sexo feminino e na quarta década de vida. Mesmocom esta correlação, o mecanismo etiológico é de difícil avaliação e intervenção. É de fundamental importância um acompanhamento multiprofissional, bem como ummaior número de estudos, para determinar e reconhecer os mecanismos envolvidos na relação entre articulaçãotemporomandibular e sintomas tológicos...
ABSTRACT
The temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD) are important causes of morbidity in population. They become more important when generate otologic symptoms. Published articles are analyzed in this area of study. It intends to demonstrate the relation among these joint disorders, parafunctional habits and otologic symptoms. Despite the exact relation between the TMD and the otologic symptomatology hasn't been totally known, symptoms like otalgia (prevails in the majority of studies),tinnitus, aural fulness, dizziness are often found in patientes who presents these joint disorders. It prevails in women in fourth decade of life. The aetiologic mechanism become difficult in its evaluation and intervention. It's fundamentally important the multiprofessional cooperation, as well as more studies, o determine and recognize the involved mechanisms in his relation between temporomandibular joint and otologic symptoms...
