ABSTRACT
The fractures in the upper limbs of children are common, especially those fractures of the forearm these represent forty five percent of all fractures and sixty-five precent of the fractures of upper members. Generally cause functional limitations in elbow and forearm joint due to immobilization period and the forearm musculoskeletal characteristics. The use of manual therapy between the techniques of rehabilitation in essential to reverse the functional change caused. The objective of this study was to verify the effects of the manual therapy on the rehabilitation of individuals with forearm fractures. Ten individual, male, aged 10,12+-2,84 year, who suffered fractures of forearm were evaluated. They were subjected to the therapy with manual therapy, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and whirlpool bath. The initial and final evaluation consisted of goniometry, analogical visual scale and Hopenfield scale. Were observed reduction of pain, improvement of the mobility and muscle strength after the rehabilitation. The manual therapy was essential to increasing ROM and pain reduction.
