Hiperdivergência tratada com ortopedia funcional dos maxilares / Hyperdivergency treated with functional jaw orthopedics - a case report

RESUMO

A discrepância esquelética no hiperdivergente pode caracterizar-se pelo aumento de diversos fatores altura facial, altura dentoalveolar, ângulo mandibular e relação dos planos maxilomandibulares no decorrer do crescimento e desenvolvimento. A etiologia da hiperdivergência é variada, podendo ser genética, congênita e/ou funcional. Nos respiradores bucais a postura baixa da língua pode provocar o aumento do ângulo mandibular, principalmente em sua porção inferior, podendo orientar um crescimento vertical acentuado, levando a uma mordida aberta esqueletal que, possivelmente, tendera a tratamento cirúrgico. E, quando associada a rotação morfológica posterior mandibular, pode também desencadear problemas de disfunções temporomandibulares e dor orofacial. O caso clínico mostra como a Ortopedia Funcional dos Maxilares, vista através da Reabilitação Neuro-oclusal, pode atuar de forma significativa na correção da hiperdivergência, com a orientação da análise estrutural e de localização do compasso articular.

ABSTRACT

Skeletal discrepancy on hyperdivergent patients can De characterized by several factors increased facial height, dento-alveolar height, mandibular angle and the relationship of the maxillo-mandibular-planes d~wingg rowth and development. The etiology of hyperdivergency is varied, being it genetic, congenital and/or functional. In mouth-breathers, the low posture of the tongue can provoke the increase of the mandibular angle, especially of its lower portion, potentially causing a marked vertical growth which, leading a skeletal open bite, which will possibly have to be treated surgically. And when associated with a posterior morphological mandibular rotation, can also cause temporomandibular disorders and orofacial pain. The clinical case shows how Jaw Functional Orthopedics, seen through Neuro-occlusal Rehabilitation, can significantly correct hyperdivergency, under the guidance of StructuralAnalysis and Location Analysis of the Articular Compass.
