Books for children about death.

ABSTRACT

Books about death for preschool and schoolaged children are reviewed in terms of child development, children's understanding of death, and literary quality. The article is written to help pediatricians and nurses become aware of this literature and to aid them in selectively advising concerned parents about its constructive use to help children understand death. Preventive mental health is the focus rather than use with fatally ill children.
