ABSTRACT

PURPOSE:

To report a case of mycosis fungoides in which vitritis was the earliest manifestation of recurrence.

METHODS:

A 52-year-old man was followed-up from his initial presentation with vitritis to his death due to recurrent mycosis fungoides over a 5-month period.

RESULTS:

The patient presented with progressive visual loss in the left eye. Slit-lamp examination revealed severe vitritis, and analysis of a vitreous fluid sample demonstrated a monomorphic population of abnormal T-cell lymphocytes, typical of mycosis fungoides. Three months after developing vitritis, the patient had extraocular recurrence of the disease, and he died 2 months later.

CONCLUSION:

Recurrent mycosis fungoides may present with isolated intraocular involvement.
