Treatment for mixed astigmatism with cross cylinders [abstract]

ABSTRACT

An explanation of the ablation strategies and the length of the surgery for each surgical strategy is demonstrated. The treatment with cross cylinders gives the least time of ablation with the least amount of tissue extraction for mixed astigmatisms. Theresults in 28 cases performed between October and december 2000, are analyzed. Simple myopic astigmatisms can be converted into mixed astigmatisms obtaining less ablation of tissue and improving near vision. This strategy may be used in presbyopic patients with simple myopic astigmatisms (AU)
