Mães, avós e cuidadoras de crianças institucionalizadas: conhecimentos sobre desenvolvimento na infância / Mothers, grandmothers and caregivers of institutionalized children: Knowledge about development in childhood

RESUMO

Este teve como objetivo investigar o perfil e os conhecimentos de cuidadores de crianças institucionalizadas sobre desenvolvimento infantil. Participaram 16 mães, 16 avós e 16 educadoras de crianças nessa condição. Utilizou-se o Inventário de Conhecimentos sobre Desenvolvimento Infantil (KIDI) que permitiu investigou variáveis como escolaridade, número de filhos, profissão e idade dessas cuidadoras, e seus conhecimentos sobre práticas de cuidado, saúde e segurança, normas e aquisição e princípios do desenvolvimento. Das 75 questões, o maior percentual de acerto foi na categoria práticas de cuidado (82, 35%), sendo que as mães e as avós apresentaram melhor desempenho em perguntas sobre saúde e segurança (64,7% em ambos os casos). O nível de escolaridade e o acúmulo de saberes e práticas derivados de experiências pessoais com o cuidado de crianças em outros contextos foram variáveis com possível influência sobre o quanto e o quê as participantes conhecem acerca do desenvolvimento infantil.(AU)

ABSTRACT

This aimed to investigate the profile and awareness of mothers, grandmothers and educators of institutionalized children about child development. 16 mothers, 16 grandmothers and 16 children's educators participated in the study. The instrument used was the Knowledge Inventory on Child Development (KIDI), which collects information on the profile of caregivers (education, number of children, profession and age) and has 75 questions in four categories practices and care, health and Safety, standards and acquisition and principles of development. Caregivers presented a higher percentage of correctness in the questions about care practices (82, 35%). Mothers and grandmothers had more health and safety (64.7% in both cases). The level of schooling and the accumulation of knowledge and practices inscribed in family every day and sociocultural contexts were factors that exerted influence on the knowledge of the participants.(AU)
