Second workshop on systematic screening for TB disease and preventive treatment in the WHO European region: WHO virtual workspace, 15–16 April 2021

ABSTRACT

The Second Workshop on Systematic Screening for TB Disease and Preventive Treatment in the WHO European Region was held virtually on 15 and 16 April 2021. This is the continuation of a series of workshops hosted by the WHO Regional Office for Europe, in collaboration with the WHO Global TB Programme, with the aim of scaling up the uptake and implementation of the latest WHO recommendations on tuberculosis (TB) preventive and curative action across the Region and encouraging investment into 1) operationalizing the implementation of WHO recommendations; 2) implementing operational research to address evidence gaps; and 3) applying the best innovative practices across TB patient pathways. On 15 and 16 April 2021, over 250 participants met virtually to update each other, share experiences and discuss the prevention of TB through systematic screening and preventive treatment in the WHO European Region. This report summarizes the main discussion points from each of the four sessions from the workshop.
